As a recently relocated permanent resident in Canada, I had put my desire to become an accredited lawyer on hold due to the lack of support and the limited options available to those newcomers that also have to earn a living by having to work full time to cover for your daily expenses and to fulfill any outstanding financial obligations. I came across Windmill while in the process of requesting admission to a University’s program for internationally trained lawyers. I visited Windmill’s website and at first glance I thought it was just another company offering loans and looking to make business as usual. But after reading about the company’s goal to assist professionals like me achieve their career goals through funding, I was convinced that I could request the heir assistance with the certainty that I was going to be treated fair and not just offered a loan that would later represent another economical burden. My first contact was with Zahra’a, an Intake Specialits, who was very diligent in responding to my inquiry. She contacted me via email and over the phone to make sure I understood and that I had everything I needed to start process of while ensuring me that the staff was there to provide support. After that, I was introduced to Christopher, a Client success Coach, who helped with delineate my career plan going forward, offered suggestions on how to make my resume more attractive to Canadian employers, test preparation for admission to Universities, and other career support tools. With Windmill one is not just applying for a loan, their process is design with getting to know you in mind so that they can provide additional resources besides the very needed funding to pay for tuition and books. I felt the genuineness of their attention, and willingness to be there every step of the journey with solutions to specifically address my individual circumstance. As an immigrants, Windmill (formerly IAF) helped me to kick start my career in Canada. Windmill gave me a loan when l couldn't get a from any bank because l didn't have a credit history. When the repayment period arrived, l couldn't afford to start paying back because l didn't have a job then. Windmill postponed the repayment date. Thankfully l've fully paid now.
