I wish I could give this credit union 0 stars, but unfortunately Google makes you give at least that. But even one measly star is too much credit to give to this company. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY, AND AGGRAVATION. Since the day I opened this account I have had nothing but issues! The sole reason behind opening a checking account at a local branch was to have the ability to transfer money between my personal accounts- one of which being USAA (that does not currently have any branches in NY state). As a MILITARY spouse and the waitress of a local business- having access to cash on the spot, when I need- it is important. I was promised easy online banking access, easy debit card use, and specific transfers with no fee's. HA! What a joke. All three statements were absolutely the furthest from the truth. And to make matters worse, these statements came from a manager at the Arsenal Street branch. Her excuse to the mis-communication was their new online system... fine. That is understandable. But please, save me the time, money, and endless aggravation and tell me that your banking institution CAN NOT offer what I am looking for. These issues were then apologized for by the young lady I spoke with the very next day after I had opened the account (once I had realized the false information that was given). Not only was she sincerely apologetic, but then took the time to sit and go through everything online for the online banking AND she also went over their entire printed list of fee's. Therefore I decided that I would keep the existing account. BAD CHOICE ON MY PART. From then on I realized every time I used my debit card as just that... a debit card... I was charged a fee. For example saving money at the gas pump for using your debit VS. credit card. OUTRAGEOUS! Having to pay $3.00 to transfer my own money to one of my other personal checking accounts each time. INSANE! Then last but not least- logging in and using their "user friendly" online banking site... COMPLETE HELL and mass confusion.
I could go on for days with all the issues and shocking fee's I was charged. Try and re-order checks... HA! $30 for 150 checks- PLUS SHIPPING! Even their own rep recommended ordering through a 3rd party. And so I did. Only to be given the wrong checking account number over the phone (which was confirmed and read back several times) and then receiving 150 useless checks through Vista Print. I was then told by the manager of Americu's 800-service that they were not going to reimburse me the money I spent via a 3rd party vendor because their rep gave me wrong info. Fabulous. Now that's good business...NOT! What a nightmare.
Like I mentioned above- SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION. Take yourself to KeyBank, Northern Federal, or Community. Hell, hide your money under your mattress for god's sake. Anything but use Americu Credit Union.
