Negative stars if I could ... worst bank ever extremely rude and horrible customer service say one thing and do another , say they will take care of somthing and that your all set then find out down the road they never keep their promises ... they lie and steal money from you

I wish I could give this credit union 0 stars, but unfortunately Google makes you give at least that. But even one measly star is too much credit to give to this company. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, ENERGY, AND AGGRAVATION. Since the day I opened this account I have had nothing but issues! The sole reason behind opening a checking account at a local branch was to have the ability to transfer money between my personal accounts- one of which being USAA (that does not currently have any branches in NY state). As a MILITARY spouse and the waitress of a local business- having access to cash on the spot, when I need- it is important. I was promised easy online banking access, easy debit card use, and specific transfers with no fee's. HA! What a joke. All three statements were absolutely the furthest from the truth. And to make matters worse, these statements came from a manager at the Arsenal Street branch. Her excuse to the mis-communication was their new online system... fine. That is understandable. But please, save me the time, money, and endless aggravation and tell me that your banking institution CAN NOT offer what I am looking for. These issues were then apologized for by the young lady I spoke with the very next day after I had opened the account (once I had realized the false information that was given). Not only was she sincerely apologetic, but then took the time to sit and go through everything online for the online banking AND she also went over their entire printed list of fee's. Therefore I decided that I would keep the existing account. BAD CHOICE ON MY PART. From then on I realized every time I used my debit card as just that... a debit card... I was charged a fee. For example saving money at the gas pump for using your debit VS. credit card. OUTRAGEOUS! Having to pay $3.00 to transfer my own money to one of my other personal checking accounts each time. INSANE! Then last but not least- logging in and using their "user friendly" online banking site... COMPLETE HELL and mass confusion. I could go on for days with all the issues and shocking fee's I was charged. Try and re-order checks... HA! $30 for 150 checks- PLUS SHIPPING! Even their own rep recommended ordering through a 3rd party. And so I did. Only to be given the wrong checking account number over the phone (which was confirmed and read back several times) and then receiving 150 useless checks through Vista Print. I was then told by the manager of Americu's 800-service that they were not going to reimburse me the money I spent via a 3rd party vendor because their rep gave me wrong info. Fabulous. Now that's good business...NOT! What a nightmare. Like I mentioned above- SAVE YOURSELF THE AGGRAVATION. Take yourself to KeyBank, Northern Federal, or Community. Hell, hide your money under your mattress for god's sake. Anything but use Americu Credit Union.

I don't understand the (current) low rating for this AmeriCU branch. Every time I've come in to do something, I haven't had an issue. Their lobby is accessible and their terminals in the lobby allow you to do an array of functionality without even speaking to a teller. Pre-Covid (and possibly currently, not sure) they had a change machine where you throw your change in and it will convert it to cash for you, without a charge. I have had bank offers through here when I was younger and they weren't as good as other banks - but that's fine. My credit wasn't spotless and while I was disappointed not to take the offered loan, I still appreciate my member services offered with AmeriCU. If I were to have one complaint, it would be to fix the drive through ATM as it's way too recessed and I have to climb halfway out my vehicle every time to use it. I'm not a NASCAR driver, I'm not trained to enter and exit my vehicle through my window (lol). Thanks for your services!

Never in my life have I ever felt so slighted by a bank teller. I went in to cash a 100 dollar check that had both mine and my husband's name on it and I was refused service. A woman by the name of Michelle Curtis proceeded to call me rude and she shoved my military ID off the counter. I just moved to new York and not being able to access my money for weeks is really doing damage on my family. The manager by the name of Rebecca, she refused to give me her last name, apparently also has poor work ethic in that she did not seem to care about the terrible customer service I was receiving. I could not be more serious in tell you, whoever you are, DO NOT open a banking account here.

They suck..They are worried about a old debt of 1000. When i paid them 41000 in interest. Do not bank with them. Go to NFCU. They are excellent!

Worst banking experience I've ever encountered in my 27 years. Always a hassle when I call them or whenever I stopped in when I lived there. Wouldn't strongly advise anyone to not bank with these people.

I started banking with Americu when I bought a house 3 years ago. I started with just a mortgage through the credit union but after I was fed up with the fees and inconveniences of my former bank I transferred all of my banking to Americu. I have been very happy with the services. Their hours are especially nice! I actually have time to go to the bank after work and some locations are open Saturday morning too. I have always found staff to be courteous & helpful on my visits and my original loan officers were outstanding. Fees and services charges, what few you may have, are not the issue they were at my former bank and I appreciate that. Overall I really like banking with Americu :)

If I could do NEGATIVE stars I would. I paid both February and March's payment. Even told the woman that AND put it in the memo in the check. Instead I get late notices only to find out that the never applied it to March's payment...I went in there and called and they said they would fix it. Reported it to the credit bureaus even though I have the cancelled check showing I paid it. Seriously, what are the credentials of the people you hire?! Thanks for ruining my credit. Trying to get it sorted it out has been nothing short of a nightmare. DO NOT USE THEM!! or find some competent bank tellers.

Was going through Americu. Waited on a call that never came. "Next to nothing to close" turned into 18K. Needless to say, I closed with another bank with no closing cost.

Im sorry these people all seemed to have bad experience with them. My family has been using americu for the past atleast 10 years and never had a problem with anyone. And they are always willing to help witb any issues we have had.

Had a little problem with my account. Stopped by without an appointment and after signing in Michelle brought me into her office. She helped me track where the problem was and straitened everything out. I've been with Americu for a few years now and will stick with them over a bank.

I called the 800 number with problem on my AmeriCu credit card. The 1st lady was not sure so she transferred us to another lady. She was outstanding helping us get the problem taking care of. I would like to thank both for there care in answering our question.

Watertown ny branch. I am a single father of two kids. A veteran, a student in collage, and a small business owner. This bank gets off on screwing people. I'm trying to survive and they're are saying there is no payoff. I have payed of other loans through them. I've worked in the service industry and am educated, these people keep giving me the run around not knowing anything about me. I most certainly do not recommend doing business with theses people. Incapable of listening.

It is absurd how many times, this bank has mishandled my finances. After leaving this institution with joy, it is now a share branch to my home bank from home. The nightmare continues as it did 3 years ago. The staff absolutely kind, but I am not here to access that. This is my families hard earned money and it's constantly mishandled. Can you please elucidate why? And how ?
