I was just spoken to extremely rudely by an older woman who was working at the front desk. I was on the phone and as I was she started speaking to me, I had to stop my conversation to tell her that I can’t hear two people at once. She then says “I can hear you” and once I was finished with the call I said to her that it would have been appropriate to wait until I was finished my call but she didn’t allow to me finish my sentence instead she continued saying “but I can hear you”. I felt extremely disrespected and I told her she was rude but she ignored everything I was saying. Very inappropriate and horrendous customer service.

Most people complaining don't seem to know much about credit/loans. The ladies at this location have always been wonderful and accommodating with me and their customer service is great. They always check details and do everything they can for you to find a solution. Here is a summary of my dealings with Fairstone Timmins. Let me be clear first, I am not posting this because I missed a payment or didn't honour any obligation like 80% of the compalints I see on the internet dealing with loan companies. I had a 5year loan and paid it off in 2.5years and you'll understand why in a sec. Mostly the issues with this company is outside of branch control except for the very end of my relationship with this company. HUGE interest charged DAILY on a consolidation loan. Personally I should of walked out and never signed the papers but wasn't told or shown the interest till this page and this page was signed. Than ok here is what you are gonna be paying us! Stay away now, go to a real bank. They charge enormous interest on a loan at 34.99%! Craziness! Minimum is 19.99% on some offered products. Last year I Made a large deposit to pay down the loan, than all of a sudden regular reoccurring payments disappeared and was told the next payment isn’t due for 3 months in Fairstone’s attempt (I Believe) to rack up interest charges on the remaining balance (Remember how I said interest is charged daily??). Shady practices and you need to be on top of your payments or you will get taken advantage of quickly. Just recently I finally paid my loan off thru my bank (or tried too). Fairstone Recieved the money and it shows on my account but they didn't apply it to the balance. Why???Called the Timmins branch, was talked down to by their staff rudely. The staff told me I should not have done that... , whoa wait a second.. does it say anywhere that I am not able to do that? They make it sound like I was in the wrong, no where in the loan documents, or their website does it say I need to go into the branch to make any payment to make my balance zero. They have no issues taking money via online banking or direct debit any other time from my account for regular monthly payments and to be clear it is not my problem that the Fairstone computer system cannot handle a payment to pay off a loan. So don't tell me I made a mistake or caused a headache for you. They tell me we will call you back shortly. An hour later I call back, and again was told we will call you back. Finally they call back with some weird excuse by head office. I'm not in the wrong nor was I apologized too by the branch manager, just don't do it again lecture is what I was given!..Again.... Trust me there won't be a next time as I will not deal with Fairstone again. The pay off we are talking about is a meazly $4 here. 4 Bux and it caused a huge headache when Interest is calculated DAILY, so I want it applied Now! Any bank or credit card company I've ever dealt with takes your money immediately and shows a zero balance!! Omg this company is pathetic. I am not impressed. Someone from Fairstone can give me a call anytime if they want to discuss my service with this branch or dispute this in anyway. Why would I go thru all the trouble to post this? Because as a consumer you should know what your walking into. By the way Fairstone posting a reply on here for me to give you a call is not how you handle a customer who by the way paid off a 5 year loan, 2.5 years early with no defaults. Sorry I guess you didn't make your money off me in interest. STAY AWAY, STAY AWAY. If they don't fix their customer service issues they won't be in business much longer. Or maybe they will just change their name again to reset all the bad reviews on google.

Don't bother calling Fairstone either, the manager is rude and careless to the situation. Almost like she wants people to be harassed into financing with them. No thank you!!

Melany Gomez is who I deal with and anytime I need to see her on a Saturday she comes in for me. That is what I call service, also she walked me through everything and answered all my questions till I was satisfied. If you are looking for a loan for renovations, or paying off bills, or just to take a vacation I would highly recommend Fairstone at this location. Very poor experience with this company. I spoke to a "customer service" representative who was extremely rude and condescending. My complaint about this was met with a phone call that did not address this whatsoever. I will NEVER use this company again. I am not sure why retailers are pushing people to use them to defer payments, and I will be relaying this to my chosen retailers who for some reason suggested I use them. Really it was my own fault for not doing the homework. I failed to properly research my interest rates before signing the agreement. However - the agent had that information in front of her and still convinced me it was the best option. If the goal truly is to get people out of debt - the advice should include options that don't include signing up for a loan with 36% interest rate. Yikes. However. What this experience did do, was get me to take a look at my finances and move things around and be more aggressive in paying off my line of credit and then this ridiculous loan. I would suggest doing that instead of signing up for this service. Get advice from a financial advisor rather than someone whose job it is to get down on their luck folks to sign up for a loan that they'll pay for twice over.

They First financial discriminate against people because they do not have any family and will not even help if theirs someone you known for many many years that has good credit . I had gone in 2 times first time to see if I could get a loan bc a friend said she got one they will they will help me they told me I would need a co signer I then went back in with a co signer who had good credit they still said no . They only told me the second time I went in that I would have to have a family member co sign for me when they knew the first time I did not have any family. I am so frustraited as I was told it could be anyone to do that for me by my boyfriend bc he asked person the first time now they say it has to be family most of my family is long gone and the ones who are still alive I don't know where they are even if they are even trying to find me. Until I can get help from them the 1 star rating stands thanks.????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

I don't know where these people got my name and address from but over the past year I have received numerous "offers" from them; the most recent was a predatory mailing masquerading as an "offer" in the form of a holiday card. It's all designed to closely resemble what you get from institutions you have dealt with before that send out pre-approved offers that you can simply accept or decline (the fact that they put an expiration date in there confirms this), but all Fairstone is doing is advertising with your name/address on it and trying to sell you something. They're preying on people that are either desperate or just don't know any better. They also don't put any return address info on their envelopes so you can't even pop it back in the mail marked unsolicited, because you don't know until you open it! What happens when this "offer" expires? They're not going to allow me to apply for a loan? I don't think so. It's not an offer, it's an ad trying to reel you in to apply for a high interest loan. Reminds me of the guys that set up in Canadian Tire etc.. and try to get you to apply for a credit card without telling you it's a credit card. Every time you apply for credit it negatively affects your credit rating - which a lot of people don't know. I would really like to know where this predatory company got my information from so I can report them.

Terrible service consistency. I received an online pre approval based in my employment and income information. I phoned and left a message to complete the application on the day before expiry - Even though I was supposed to receive a follow up call automatically. The reason was "understaffed". I was asked if a credit check is fine, I said yes. After a system crash I was told that because I'm self employed I'm not entitled to anything unless I'm a home owner. So no continuity and they dented my credit score after pre qualifying me based on the same information. "You (self employed) default on loans more than the employed", even though I'm earning more than I ever have employed. Discriminatory, and disgusting and should have been a rejection in the initial application - Don't waste my time

NEVER REQUEST A LOAN WITH THEM. They do not protect customers from fraud. Someone made a loan request in person at the Gatineau location with fake informations, which GOT APPROVED. I contacted the police for an investigation and they told me they don’t even have security cameras. After two months, Fairstone closed my fraud investigation with the credit bureau stating that IT WAS A VALID LOAN when clearly it’s not. I am not one to leave a bad review but the way they manage this company and do business is absolutely horrible.

Took advantage of financing through Ashley Homestore who uses these people - came time to pay the balance and I wanted to use my personal credit card to pay the balance as I receive perks for using it and they don't accept credit cards...... they only accept cash, debit, and check...... what financial business these days does not accept credit cards? I cant even give them a star. the Company does not even report to the credit bureau when things are paid on time and help build your credit.. I paid it off and they could not bother to even tell the credit bureaus that it was paid off in good standing.. It still shows that I owe and I have a letter proving that it is paid off. They did not post anything to the credit bureaus that it was in good standing which helps your credit score. Instead they do nothing which hurts your score because they do not update anything. Bad enough it is at 39.99 % interest.. Loan sharks are less!!!

Do not waste your time. I did the online application then stopped in to this location. The very first thing I asked was what documentation is required and will the information on my cell phone be sufficient. The employee neglected to tell me about additional documentation required until she had already done a credit check and wasted 20 min of my time. Thankfully I was not in dire need of Fairstone's financial aid. They require way too much personal information which at least 3 other companies do not. They even ask you to provide your landlord's phone number lol I strongly discourage anyone from using Fairstone as there are other companies that only require the necessary financial information which most of us have on our cell phones. Once I realized that the employee clearly had wasted my time I smiled, thanked her for her time and left feeling happy I would not be doing business with Fairstone or the ridiculous employee who neglected to tell me when I first arrived about the additional documentation required. Please don't waste my time responding to my review. I am writing this review to ensure other's do not think this is a viable financial solution. Also it is practically impossible to find parking. SHADY & MISLEADING Their call center is nearly impossible to get ahold of and its outsourced in India or something very hard to understand most of them as they have very strong accents. Their statements don't tell you the exact date you have to pay by before you get a late fee, they call you the day after though (after the interest and late charge is added) These guys deal with places like visions electronics for 3 month free financing options etc. But you can't turn around and pay it off with a credit card that you would have earned points or cash back on. Do yourself a favour and avoid these guys like the plague, if you can't afford it don't buy it and if you can buy it on a credit card and get a kickback with 30 days to pay for it. Paid 100$ extra and didn't get travel points for the 2000$ of stereo equipment I bought.

Fairstone is a place you can turn to for help with paying off large debts but it comes with a very high interest rate with no options to lower should you run into financial hardship down the road. The people that work there are great and really friendly never had a negative issue with there customer service. I don't understand why BestBuy wants to associate with these loan sharks. I had a zero balance on my account and they still want to charge me $35 "Membership fee". I had to call and they did waive it, but got the whole "We don't usually do this … BUT..." talk. They refunded me the $35 because of how fast i paid off the loan and the fact that I was barely a month into the new "Membership" year. Be carful if you must finance with these guys, close your account ASAP after you pay off the balance. Jesus, you are paying a fee there should be a cash back/benefits program. This is fraud.

BEWARE OF SENIOR GOUGING MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEONE THERE TO ADVOCATE FOR YOUR SENIORS. I am taking care of my senior parents loan because they don't understand the details.I have sat in on all their previous loan applications so I could help explain it to my father who is 86 and hearing impaired and my mother who is 76 and no longer understand. The loan was past due so they call my mother without my knowing had her refinance the loan as a second mortgage. Not only did they secure the loan using my parents house they convinced her to borrow and extra $5000 just for her to spend... really???? It doesn't stop there they also sold her roadside assistance for a vehicle they could hardly drive anymore. The branch and manager as well as the staff knew I always accompanied my parents but this time they took advantage of seniors and tricked them into even greater financial hardship. I angrly brought this to the managers attention to which I was told that they can't discriminate against seniors and that they can't determine if the clients truly understand as it's not their responsibility to make sure the clients are of sound mind. So he said she signed the papers and that ment the loan was good and she must have understood...little over a year later and she has no idea of the loan details. I could go on but I am leaving the rest for head office to determine. I am in the position to pay this debt off but NOW they are charging a penalty of $5000 to pay it off early. This is money taken from seniors in their last year...equity taken from their home leaving them with less money to move to a retirement home due to their health...and they don't understand why as they had no idea the loan was attached to their home. I am appalled and disgusted by this branch taking advantage of my senior parents and gouging them out of a huge amount of money...and to be so underhanded as to bring them to the branch without me. I'm aware of their practice of trying to sell unecessary products to customers by not reading or skimming over the details...I know this because I worked for the company in 2000.

If it is up to me, I won't even give 1 star to them. I took loan for furniture for $3600 and was late in paying my installment by 15 days. I paid my whole principal amount in full but they sent me the invoice mentioning that because I was 15 days late, I will have to pay $880 interest on top. And they said that they will keep on charging interest on top of the interest until it has been paid in full. I talked to them that the amount they are charging is unreasonable but they said that the best that they can do is still charge me $500. Is it reasonable to charge interest of $500 if the payment is late by 15-20 days(well before they were expecting me to pay $880- which is ridiculous)?? This company is running a scam and no one should go to such places for help. Extremely disappointed with their services. No wonder that they have 2 stars.

Extremely disappointed with this company they have little respect for the public. Constant phone calls even after asking to stop calling. Constantly pushing for people to get more loans even when they do not want more money also always suggesting to use home equity for loans even after stating "No" very devious and undermining. If you obtain a loan from this location expect a ton of junk mail and expect them to push you to obtain more loans. They also force insurance on you such as unemployment and when you tell them no they still continue to push you. The interest rates are WAY TO HIGH even with applying the fact that they are a business to give high risk loans your average interest rate is in the mid to high 20s so expect to pay quite a bit of interest on your loan. It would be cheaper to go to a loan shark than use these guys. When interest rates drop they are not willing to negotiate your rate and basically tell you "pound salt" and laugh at you as you walk out the door.

Yes very supportive staff kind friendly but the company is a huge money profit gain off people that need help. The service is great yet they don't go into details how they work to scam you. I borrowed 22,000 on a 10 year agreement which i was not made aware of, i was never told 10 years it was to be 5. So 3 years later I want to pay my loan off after more then 12,000 paid into, too my surprise Im paying it off 7....7 years early too find that they have only applied 4,000 to my principle and the gained over 8,000 dollars? This is not borrowed at 21.0%. These people are not your buddy, they enlighten your life for a moment only to rob you blind. They tell you if you pay it off sooner its better, no penalties. What they do is take all their expected gain on interest of the loan up front and neglect to inform clients that it is 21.0% per day borrowed. I called the Lasalle Branch and the man tells me it takes about 3 months to be completely off the mailing list, and he gave me a number to call at the Customer Service, and this time I am told it takes one month. They have made getting my credit score up so easy, my credit rating increased by 30 points just within my first 3 months. And it's very reasonable for the interest, and you aren't locked into the term length. You can pay it off faster and save time and money. Dealing with them is pretty straight forward and fast. You know the interest. There is no hidden fees. It is all stated as long as you read eveeything. Viewing the account online is also pretty user friendly. You can pay it off sooner as well as it is an open loan. I suggest pay it off asap as interest can be high. So far i have no complaints. I did not have any bad experience and never had any issues being on time with my payment. I dealt with Patrick who was very good and certainly never rush me or anything like that.

JUST STOP CALLING ME. The fairstone financial person who keeps calling me to transfer my Ashley furniture-fairstone loan to Fairstone Financial (which she said doesn't change the interest rate at all) can't even pronounce it, she pronounces it Firestone. She's called me about 20 times and keeps leaving voice-mails even though I blocked her number. Never using a loan from Ashley Furniture if I need to get in bed with Fairstone.

I’ve had a loan with this company for the past three years. It was great customer service until this year. I responded to a voicemail on November 01/2018 and was asked why I was calling. I then said that I had a voicemail and I wasn’t to sure what it was in regards to because my partner just made a payment there 1 hour ago. Then the secretary said “you don’t even know why your calling?” She was right away defensive and talking down to me. I asked for her name and she listed off every person working there. She was talking over me and I found it to be one of the most stressful phone calls I have ever experienced. I have never had a customer service experience like this before. I purchased involuntary unemployment insurance and after losing my job, I took advantage of this benefit. The deadlines were quite long, I had to call the branch several times to request a follow-up on my file, which remained without news. Recently, an amount was withdrawn from my account while the insurance company disbursed the payment as expected and Fairstone, by the voice of Ms. Robitaille, refuses to reimburse the amounts paid while waiting for the insurance company to then authorize that she had guaranteed and entered in my file that I will be reimbursed. Worse, she admitted during the telephone conversation that she had forgotten to check if the compensation was paid, which resulted in the payment of an overpayment and they now refuse to give me back these amounts. I consider this to be a flagrant lack of professionalism. They said one thing and their opposite. They took the money without worrying about the consequences for the customer. Worst customer experience I've ever seen. The moment we walked in the door me and my wife were completely ignored, until one lady finally acknowledged us, just to say "what do you want". And then wave us to her desk. And the first thing she asks my wife when we get to her desk is if I'm forcing my wife to apply for a loan. I almost lost it at that point, but kept my cool. Then she scrutinized my wife's pay stub just because she had a couple sick days on it. And after looking at her pay stub and credit, she says I can't help you and that's it. Then just goes back to staring at her computer. Definitely don't recommend this location, even to my worst enemy.
