I have not had the Displeasure of dealing with this company but I had a similar experience with a similar company called Time Payment. I just went to get another machine and they gave me this garbage contact. Thank you for your reviews. It saved me from going through this nightmare again. These people should all be in jail. To the Marlin corporation and all employees if you screen these reviews, which I'm sure you do, I dont know how you sleep at night. You should be ashamed of everything you are.

Very frustrating company. Instant credited our account which was great. But required me to sign electronically without providing any physical copies of the contract until after I signed and made the commitment. After I signed, I was able to print the doc and I saw that our tax ID was correct and our dba was as well, but they had our former parent company on there!!! I quickly contacted them to rectify this. I requested to either cancel this contract and reissue or revise. Well, it has been over a month and they unfortunately pushed the original contract through and released the funds. They debited our account for the first draw and are getting ready to debit another month!!!! We did not sign the software lease contract with our vendor yet because it would be assigned to the wrong company name. Marlin had us fill out a new credit application two weeks ago and we are still waiting. Very frustrating and very disappointing. They told us we could pay this off but IT IS NOT UNDER OUR NAME!!!! We would not recommend them.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. This is the worst company ever to do business with. I purchased a furnace thru them. since the first day of signing the lease with them i started having problems. I would call them almost every week and every person I spoke with would tell me something totally different than the person before them. They would just stated that the person prior to them did not know what they were talking about, Like come on. It was a big headed. They charge me more money that what it was stated on the lease. I show them the amount I has been charge extra, they did return my money back at the end when they couldn't find any excuse of why the charges. I decided to just pay off my balance in less than a month of been with them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE. Don't let the fake sympathetic responses to other complaints fool you, this is an immoral, scam artist, business that should be investigated for fraud. Exactly as other's have described, they do everything they can to create grey areas, vagueness, and to manipulate you into being stuck in contracts with them. To summarize our experience: we leased a printer from Marlin at the company where I work. 6 whole months before the lease ended, they contacted us to ask our intentions for the lease (if we were renewing or not). We responded that we did not want to renew, and no longer wanted the lease. Then the lease was "auto-renewed" because we let them know "too early" that we didn't want it. When we did not pay the lease we did not want and tried to return the printer, they claimed we were in default and they would not take the printer away until we paid. The amounts we owed kept changing via email, and were incredibly vague in ways that left grey areas and uncertainty about exactly what we had to pay and why. Finally, we were able to pay them enough that they began the Return Authorization for the printer. We followed every instruction on how to return it, paid for the return (also absurd), only to have them accuse us of damaging the printer. They sent photos of it soaking wet, beat up and broken. As if we would allow that to happen and just give it back! Thankfully, we took our own photos on the day it left showing a perfectly fine, dry, functional printer. Still fighting about the money for damages we supposedly owe. Take your business ANYWHERE ELSE and avoid thousands of dollars and hours wasted on these horrible people.

She was patient and instructive on how to set up the account and stayed on the line until i was completely finished with set up. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in my entire professional life. They swindled me into a lease with so much fine print. My restaurant went out of business and they wouldn’t cut me a break or even a payoff agreement because “I had good credit and they knew I wouldn’t want it ruined.” Then, after I paid off the entire balance of the dishwasher lease that I no longer needed, they said I still owed the insurance fees, the buy-out fee and the property taxes!! Run for your life before you think of using this company.

"Purchased" a software product and was recommended to use Marlin Finance, their preferred and highly recommended business lending company. Paid 1st and last payment upfront. Second month I was hit with an exorbitant service fee for no apparent reason. When I refused to pay it they started threatening me. Repeatedly, they claim I've leased and not purchased the product. I plan on reporting them to my State Attorney General and have them stopped from lending to our State.

After years of paying 600 a month for PHONE rentals the business closes OOB and the best these people can do ask is to pay a ridiculous but our fee. The owner did not sign this contract and was not aware there would be cancelation fees and 4 year contracts. So I will make it my duty to fight that contract I suggest those getting the run around do the same get a lawyer these people don’t even answer the phones in a timely manner and have no respect or sympathy for small businesses.

I needed financing on just software for my pawn program that I wished to purchase. Marlin Financing was referred by Data Age/Pawn Masters and I was told they would give me great financing. YEAH RIGHT! I was given an invoice for $5825.20 from Data Age marked paid and the contract from Marlin read $291 x 24 month. Okay....now I received the statement and it has $20.53 insurance fee (hidden fee) that will due (for software) and the new payment due of $454.09 for this month. 100.70 was added for documentation fee (okay, I'll take that). $311.93 for 24 mos not the original $291, I signed. I called and questioned them and they said I'm not a tax exempt state. (I'm aware of this but it was not included in the invoice that was submitted to them) So, say there were sales tax on that $5825.20 x 6% = +$349.52= $6174.72. I asked how much was my total contract now and was told $7486.32. plus $20.53 per month insurance fee for software only. In my calculation they have gave me a great deal of 19.99% interest plus $20.53 per month, they will waive if I get documentation from my regular insurance company that I have software insurance.

I originally came to Marlin through Katom Equipment whom I selected because they were 100% female owned and I liked the person I spoke to on the phone. It was a commodity product, so I figured I'd give the business to the little guy. They indicated that they exclusively used Marlin and they sent me the application to submit and start the process. After the usual missteps when people are involved, I received approval at 6% interest. Matthew McCormick was the person I worked with. For the contract portion I was referred to Stacy Cheslock. I just wanted to finance the $10,483.55 purchase over 60 months to lessen the blow on my cash flow. When she sent the paperwork, it listed the deal as a lease and not a straight line loan. I told her that I wasn't leasing, but buying. Her response was that it was exactly the same thing, same rate and that this was how they did it. It was a $1 buyout at the end of the lease. I figured that they were doing these transactions with Katom every day so I didn't suspect anything was up. The lease contract was signed and finalized with a voided check for them to use to pull the first and last months payments as good faith. The hitch is that when I looked at my online banking, the amount had gone up $12.73/mo or $763.80 over the life of the lease. Now my effective interest rate had gone from 6% to nearly 8.25% because of "applicable taxes" which it turns out only apply to leasing and not straightline loans. Thus far, I only get double talk and "I don't know what your conversations were with our other representatives." I'm left feeling like a fool because after the fact, I checked Yelp! about Katom and Marlin and both have almost exclusively horrific reviews. Many of the reviews with similar experiences to myself. Stay away from Marlin and Katom! Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

This is the worst leasing company out there. If you are thinking of using these guys, don't! They charge you hidden fees for the life of your lease. They are also very nasty on the customer service side of phone service. The sales person is very nice and promises you the world and once you sign, they take advantage of you in every way they can. I will stick with Wells Fargo - not the best, but far better than Marlin. I can't wait until our short 2-year lease is over. Every bill we get is a reminder of how much of a mistake this lease was. Our lease was for a P.O.S. system for our retail business.

***Update*** Shortly after posting my review, I was contacted by Brian G. at Marlin. He was accommodating and responsive in getting my account closed out. I liked that he was knowledgeable of my account before reaching out and explained the steps they were taking to correct those issues in the future. Only time will tell if those corrections will pan out, but Brian did make a bad experience into a good one. ***Original Review*** During the lease, the experience is sufficient but ending the lease is an absolute nightmare. We followed the lease to the letter on the process to end the contract and prevent the month to month continuation. Despite being provided receipts of certified mail, read receipts from emails, and fax confirmations, they still stated they never received our notice to terminate the contract and wouldn't honor the original notice date. They chose not to honor our original request, resulting in an additional four months' worth of payments! Once they finally acknowledged our request to end the contract, we mailed the paperwork and final payment to the address THEY provided. We also emailed and faxed the paperwork (they told us to do this) to speed the process up. We're well over a month since this paperwork was sent, and they are stating that they still haven't received it. Once again, this is despite being provided confirmations of the documents being received. I'm now told I need to fill out a one time ACH form for the final payment, and if my paper check is found, they'll issue a refund, or I can put a stop payment on it. If you aren't making a payment, good luck! This place is completely disorganized, and you never get the same answer twice. The customer always seems to be wrong here, even when you have proof in black and white.

This kind of makes me wonder about all the rest/past tax, but they did try so I'll give them that. Had there sales person been a little more honest we would never be having this issue in first place . Based on that we should have a been a little more smarter about getting a loan to start a business. I would never go this route again. With any bank. Thank you Marlin for making things as RIGHT as you can. ******** We have been fighting this marlin from the day we made the huge mistake of signing up with them. The sales agent completely lied to us about how their program works. We thought we could pay the loan off early but when we tried they were going to charge us almost 7K in interest. Then they started charging us property tax every year even though we already pay property tax with our county (double Tax).They called it equipment property tax. We borrowed $12000 and more than half of that was marketing materials and t-shirts, and over the phone training (non taxable our assessor told us this was not even legal. You can't lease marketing. They even offered to settle with us for a reduction of $8000 a couple years ago. Of course we could not afford to pay it at the time so we got screwed again. Fast forward to January 2020 and we finally paid the loan off. $12000 loan cost us way over $20,000 My wife called to make sure, and they said yes you are paid in full. She called again today (two weeks later) and now they are telling us we have to pay 2019/2020 property taxes again (another 400). This time time we are NOT paying it. They Lowered it to $200. ***** we just settled, paid it and moving on. *******I wanted to update my review. Marlin actually gave me a call and adjusted the tax for the last payment. Awful! Do not do business with these people! My sales rep brought Marlin to me presenting an easier payment option. A women named Randy quickly sent over the contract and required me to sign electronically without providing any physical copies of the contract until after I signed and made the commitment. Even if you read every single part of the contract, what "may or may not" be charged is not clear. Their documentation fee is astronomical considering they are charging me 19% interest. They also tried charging me "interim rent" which could not be clearly explained. I complained and they took off the charge but if I didn't they would have charged me another $400 and it wouldn't have went towards the monthly payments I agreed upon. It was in addition to the 36 monthly payment I owed! Do not work with this company but if you have to, make sure they waive your interim rent charge and lower your documentation fee.

At one point, I was not impressed with Marlin Capital's handling of a late-payment situation that resulted due to a government mandated closure of my business. Since then, Marlin got their act together and went out of their way to support my small business through these challenging times. If we are going to complain when we feel unappreciated, then it is only proper to revise reviews when things are corrected. Equipment financing is an expensive but vital part of running many small businesses. Marlin is a large player in this space that you can count on for transparency and professionalism, both in good times and bad.

My company has been doing business with Marlin Capital Solutions for almost 20 years and this year we decided to go another route for our copier. Trying to cancel our lease with proper notice, we have come across SEVERAL ROADBLOCKS including not sharing the documents needed in a timely fashion, conflicting agreements with the service agreement company ( they received their own separate bad review) and the run around. I feel bad for the little businesses that can't afford the monthly service agreement, insurance policy, a separate lease from another company, time waisted, and general inconveniences.

Have had a business relationship for years. At the start of the pandemic lock down we asked marlin for deferred payments on our accounts. We followed all of their requirements and were granted these. Shortly after receiving these we began to have large amounts of money removed from our checking accounts (at one point over 10000.00 dollars)We would contact Marlin, most times waiting on hold for hours only to be told yes you do have deferrals and not sure why this happened. it would then take them a week or two to return the money. We have now received notice that Marlin has sold our loans to Us Bank. Us bank is now telling us that we never had deferrals from marlin or that Marlin did not forward them and we owe payments back to april.As I said we had a relationship for years never missed a payment and were never late.We have all of the correspondence to back this up Run away as quick as you can.

I too, wish I could give them negative stars. especially to Michael Stanley. He is the absolute worst. I have dealt with Marlin previously and had an impeccable track record with them. I thought I would give them further business seeing how well my last experience was with them. Wow! how their customer service has changed. I was given the run around and made to jump thru hoops, From sending in tax info to other personal information never asked by anyone else before. to the point where i had to take videos and pictures of my warehouse. Then When all was said and done and after several calls and emails to Michael, he did not have the decency to answer any of them, When I finally was able to contact him and ask him about my inquiry his answer was I don"t think I will be able to push it thru. No explanation, nothing. He was very short and did not seem like he was interested. I guess $40K is not a big enough lease amount for him or them. He told me if I had someone else lined up to do the financing to go for it. Who would say that. It's absurd. In any case I did have someone else and ended up financing the equipment within a day. It might not have been at the same rate, but it was'nt much more either and it was done with no hassle and with great service they treated me exceptionally well. Unlike Marlin Finance. Never again will I use them nor recommend anyone to them. They get no love from me or my Company. It truly is a shame how one POS salesman can give the rest of the Company a bad name. We share the same low opinion of this company. In purchasing medical equipment, we were thinking like others, why not finance it and have low monthly payments over time. We never received the initial bill, and then were charged late fees. We tried to avoid this in the future by putting the payments on auto-draft and we are still being charged late fees. The online system wont let you pay early or for a higher amount to correct any issues. What a racket, never again!

I've been having issues with paying on early on my accounts. Today I had the same issue. Called customer service and was on hold for 7 minutes (not to bad) Customer Service Specialist Lisa Avellino proceeds to answer all my questions as best she can, we get discounted and wait for it.... Yes she called me right back and together we agreed along with her manager that the payment for the accounts were definitely not posting correctly. Honestly can't say enough good things about speaking with Lisa Avellino - Customer Service Specialist today. Very knowledgeable, professional and just overall a pleasure to talk too. If I could give negative stars I would. This "business" preys on small businesses selling "leases" for office equipment. I had an unfortunate employee fall for their scam and signed us up for a "lease" for some printers. The amount that they charge per month we could literally purchase 4-5 NEW printers each month and throw them away. The monthly charge does not include toner, ink, maintenance of any kind. So, even though halfway through the lease 2 of the 3 printers stopped working we are still bound to their "lease". We have paid nearly $13,000 and are still not finished. We had to add them to our property insurance, pay several hundred dollars worth of taxes on the 3 printers every year, on top of what we pay monthly. Horrible to prey on unsuspecting small businesses. Please be VERY careful to avoid Marlin and other so called companies.

Horrible communication I submitted an application for 2 items. The account manager Jake Harrison wasn’t communicating during the process. I complained several times because he wouldn’t return my calls in regards to funding the purchase. Finally he purchased the item from Jon Don but the item is/was back ordered which means the delivery of the item wasn’t anytime in the near future. Therefore, I was liable for payments even though I have no idea when it would be delivered. I told Jon Don to cancel the order now Marlin wants me to pay a $500 cancellation charge. I don’t think it’s right for me to have to pay a penny because the item doesn’t exist. With supply chains behind it makes no sense why anyone would order something that has no estimated delivery date. On top of that I’m being charged $3000 extra for the item and on another item I’m only being charged $1000. Both items cost the same. How does that make sense? I warn potential customers of marlin Capitol to stay away until you can purchase the equipment yourself without funding. There’s a difference between someone trying to help your company grow and one that’s taking advantage of small business owners!

They required insurance from them, another $36 a month which wasn’t told to me until after the first month. Now I’m into my lease a little over 2 years and they billed me $210.00 this month for “property tax of 2018”. Lol they will screw you then nickel and dime you. This is your HUGE warning!!!

After calling multiple times over several weeks without phone calls being returned I was finally able to speak to the most unpleasant person I've ever had the displeasure of speaking with, Kim. When trying to discuss options about cancelling an agreement, I was told too bad, that was not going to happen. Although I know that I can do a buyout, which was never offered to me, I was also told that it is my fault for receiving bad service from a company that they finance equipment for, for not doing better research about them. She also informed me that I could contact a lawyer if I wanted to pursue the matter further. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Marlin Financial is one of those companies you shouldn't do business with. While companies are going out of their way to help small business during the COVID-19 crisis, Marlin is using this crisis an opportunity to add new "terms" and requirements to their loans. I'm totally disgusted with their incomplete responses on email, lack of availability, and "loan shark" type mentality. There are much better financial companies you can get a loan from, I suggest you keep looking. Check the reviews on Yelp and other websites, and they'll you the same thing. There is a reason they get lots of 1-Star reviews. UPDATE: So Marlin reached us to us after reading our review. They apologized on behalf of the employees who gave us a hard time and told us it was Marlin's "policy" add in these new loan requirements. Also important, Marlin also offered us the loan update as we originally requested without any new strings attached. Hopefully, this is a sign of good things to come for Marlin in the future. I think that's important -- so I changed my review from 1-Stars to 3-Stars.

They blamed me for not returning my POA`s. I found my FedEx receipt, so they just said I needed to send in new ones. After submitting the vendor application and multiple emails to "an agent" as well as the customer service email that I found in the google reviews, I still haven't received any further information. Based on previous 1 star reviews, I'm starting to think they did me a favor. Their communication and professional skills are lacking terribly and they always have an excuse. At this point, I'm thankful they never completed the application. **** **Edited to add that they contacted me immediately after posting this review (ironic that they will contact you for bad reviews, yet not for service). They asked for me to remove the agents name from my review, and to inform me that they are not taking on new vendor accounts nor have they been accepting new vendor accounts for MONTHS now. Yet they couldn't tell me that information while I've been inquiring all this time?! Thanks for wasting my time. I will never recommend this company no matter how much "restructuring" they claim they are doing. *** **Edited to add more in response to their reply. Our credit is outstanding, and we have *NEVER* had an issue setting up a credit account with any of our multiple vendors. Do not try to discredit my review because your company lacks professionalism and communication skills. The person we spoke with on the phone AFTER leaving a negative review flat out told us that your company is undergoing restructuring and are not taking on new clients. It has nothing to do with our credit. Don't bother to update your response to this updated review. You have lied and wasted our time tremendously as it is.

Run from these folks! I'm still fighting charges tax charges on my bill that are unrelated to my account! They are charging me for the ENTIRE tax bill of the their two other customers in my town. I Gave them a copy of the tax schedule and they now are telling me its 2020 and this if for 2019. They will not listen and are not doing due diligence to take care of it. All I hear is send us a copy of the tax report from the municipality because we are getting a bill so passing it along to you. Yes FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS WHO ARE TAXED! No answer, I left a vm and am currently waiting for a call back. ***update*** A manager called me back and walked me through the corrections that were needed. They Followed up and went the extra mile, still not thrilled with the rep but as a business owner; I admire when management can own a situation and correct it. I will update in another 7 days and change my review if the results are as expected.
