Being with this bank for a few years and my experiences have not been so bad...but this incident took the cake. I filed my taxes and took cash back because I had absolutely no money and needed to cover some bills, so I went into the branch in Chateauguay, Quebec to deposit my check, I told the teller my account is currently at a negative I would like to cover the amounts owing and get some cash back..she said no problem but give her a second to have it authorized I said ok no problem..she went to her colleague came back did what she had to in my account then told me we covered the negative but the funds would be held...I told her no well, in that case, give me the check back because I really need funds available to me, she then asked me to wait she will try her best because the check is already deposited and I can't get it back. Well from there on it was downhill the bank manager came and told me there's nothing they can do but I was desperate I needed gas, my insurance payments are due plus I needed groceries..main reason I took the cashback. To be clear I shared all that information with the bank manager so at that point she said I should wait so they can verify with my accountant and the bank that the check is valid I said ok. I waited at the branch for over an hour they called my accountant to prove he wrote that check he confirmed it, then I waited so they can speak with Notional trust bank they also confirmed the check was good funds are available to cover my check ..now before the bank manager place those calls I was told the cash would be released but no after she was given the clear on the check she told me "everything is good with the check but I still need to hold it for 2 more days just to make sure everything is good so I would release 500$ the rest would be available in 2 working days this took place Monday, March 4, Wednesday March 6th I contacted the branch and asked about the funds in my account because I was told 2 days, I was then told again by the same bank manager that she needs to verify if the funds are still available to cover this check and the held would be removed by midnight.. Today we are Thursday, March 7th and the funds is still not available to me. I understood the rules however I believe that the bank manager was just messing with me in total 600$ was released plus the negative was covered that day because of my plea and desperation. I put gas in my car made groceries and paid back 2 friends I lent money from. No morals, no empathy, no respect to their customer because it was not that she's not able to release the funds she chose not to and belittled me.

Quite honestly this has to have been one of the nicest and kindest places I have ever been to in dealing with a bank. I did have some trouble with one of the staff members who simply would not listen to me but the managers were so quick to help me and sorted out all the issues I was going through. I wanted to do something as simple as changing my Debit card spend limit in order to make a purchase, and even after I said that I understood that it was in place to minimize damage done with a stolen card I was still called stupid multiple times. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that someone who’s job is to assist me with something insulted me multiple times. I walked out of the bank and will not be coming back. By far the worst TD location on the island.
