Poor experience. I called him in the past to get a mortgage pre-approval and provided all of my details: name, SIN, employer, salary, down payment, etc. He said he would start the process and that I could begin house hunting up to my maximum purchase price which he estimated at $610k. He told me to call him when I made an offer on a property. I did just that when I found a house for $580k. He acted like I didn't know who I was, stated that my salary was too low for that purchase price (it is just under six figures annually, not a low salary) and of course he had done no pre-approval like he said he would. He left me in a bad spot and I was forced to get the mortgage with my current bank so I wouldn't lose my deposit or the property I wanted. Be warned about him and get any approvals in writing. RE: Response from business owner: Everything that I wrote in my review is exactly what happened when I reached out to you. You might not remember, but I do.

I found Darren based on his epic reviews so I thought "why not add another one!" After dealing with Darren I feel bad for anyone who walks into a bank for a mortgage. Darren speaks with many lenders on your behalf and undoubtedly gets you the best rates and best terms (I learned mortgages are deeper than just the interest rate). Darren has an answer to every question and every job situation you may have (trust me I tried hard to stump him). If anyone is sitting there reading this review asking themselves "Wow Darren sounds great I bet that level of excellence is expensive", think again my friends as the bank you get your mortgage through covers it.

I don't usually put a lot of weight behind online reviews, but there were so many really positive ones for Darren, I thought I'd at least find out for myself. I'm really glad I did, and now I'm adding one more positive review for him myself. Darren was very patient and calm throughout the whole process, and he never made me feel dumb for asking so many questions, although I'm sure a lot of them were dumb! He answered late emails and took short notice appointments to deal with whatever came up. He was very professional and personable to deal with.
