This is the first time for my friend and I and we were not disappointed!! Instructions given were clear and easy. We felt safe and looked after by the guides. Midway when it was noticed that a saddle was slightly askew, they stopped to readjust. Most importantly the horses were healthy, well kept, and experienced even though a couple ignored directives against munching wild plants along the way. Rather hilarious! We appreciated the perfect pace of the rides which allowed us to thoroughly enjoy the scenery and the experience, particularly during the awesome river crossings. The only issue was a system error that had our reserved date wrong. Imagine our disappointment when we were told. Thankfully they were able to get us on a later ride thought that meant that we had to cancel our hiking plans for the rest of the day. However, when I subsequently notified the office about what happened, Stacey apologized, acknowledged the mistake on their part, and kindly compensated us. Thank you for handling the matter professionally, Stacey. We look forward to riding with Banff Trail Riders again!
Had a great time! Pat was fabulous
It was really great experience. I would definitely recommend this place. :)
Good shop
Had a fantastic experience!! Staff were friendly and helpful. Our trail guide was great. Although originally from the Netherlands she was very knowledgeable about the history of Banff, it’s back country and of course the horses. Thanks The horses were calm yet very responsive . Overall just a great riding experience!!
Brilliant cowboy cookout ride and Hubby came to in the wagon. Stunning scenery on the route. Lovely horses well looked after, great guide and very friendly informative staff. This is a very well organised and well run stables, great afternoon with fab food for lunch and cowboy games. Thank you to Ollie and all the staff, will definitely recommend. Lisa Daniels
Nice cowboy shop with a lot of awesome clothing. Staff was very friendly as well.
Took our 2 year old on a sleigh ride. The driver was excellent, taking the time to tell stories about past rides and how things had changed and answering questions from other guests. Everyone was very friendly. Will definitely be going again the next time we are in Banff.
Very happy with the experience. We went on the 4th day of the season so the only option was the 1 hour ride. It was more fun than I expected. The guide was Allison, I think, she was very friendly and had some good stories about the area. We will be back next time we are in Banff for one of the longer rides.
Great Experience with Banff Trail Riders such great people. The workers were very knowledgeable about the area, horses, and the trails. Would recommend to anyone!
(Translated) Beautiful views (Original) Bellas vistas
Booked a trip and was not giving a full refund for not meeting their minimum requirements. On top of that they referenced a policy that doesn't EXIST! I feel like this company is in the business of cheating consumers daily. They said it's in their policy but it's not on Expedia's website nor any information I was giving when I arrived. The staff Gina and Sarah were rude, condescending and equally hard to deal with. If you guys want to a memorable adventure DON'T go here, find a place that gives you the information so it's black and white!
What a great place! We booked a sleigh ride for a large party of 5 adults and 12 children. They were able to accommodate us and even allowed us to changed the time the day before when we needed a little extra travel time to Banff. Our guide Dusty was great with the kids and the blankets and marshmallows were a great touch. After the ride the children enjoyed playing in the snow and meeting the horses. Great experience! Thank you!
Amazing trail ride. Horses are well taken care of and look healthy and strong. The staff is great and very friendly and informative. The kids and I had a really great time Highly recommended
Took a carriage ride through Banff. It was fabulous. Highlight of our trip.Best way to spend a lovely fall day. Kudos to Mike and Sterling for a wonderful time.
Very friendly and helpful.
Great family friendly trail rides!
My family and I had a great horse carriage ride with Oliver and Ned (the horse). My two sons, aged 6 and 8 years, really enjoyed the authentic horse carriage experience and we would highly recommend it to see the town of Banff.
Called to book a 1 hour ride for myself and 2 children. Explained that my daughter is Autistic but has been horseback riding every week for the last 2 months. They refused to let us book due to her ASD without even asking anything about her or her abilities. Truly disappointed as this was going to be the highlight of our trip. I guess this is only for those able body and mind.
10/10 recommend!! As an experienced rider with a love of history and natural facts, this was a relaxing, informative, and well-priced 2 hr tour. The staff are passionate and bought-in to the whole western experience. Had a blast swapping stories with Danny and learning about the landscape. Horses seem very well cared for, happy, and healthy - a trail ride you'll be proud to be on. Sounds like the business is extremely intentional with their farrier care and time off for the horses. Well done Banff Trail Riders team, keep up the great work.
Just completed my second annual ride with Banff Trail Riders. A great way to spend a week, completely free of all the electronic distractions.
Over the Christmas holidays, we rented a private sleigh ride for our family. Despite the cold temperature (-25 degrees Celsius) we had a blast. Our driver Michael (I think that was his name) was fantastic - very informative on horses and the scenery, and funny. Our two horses were very friendly. The views were spectacular, and we even saw several elk in the bushes. It was definitely a great way to create some great family memories!
Our family of four, including two kids ages 8 and 12, absolutely loved our one hour trail ride. None of us have ever been on a horse and admittedly we were all nervous but the easy instructions and the guides' expertise put us all at ease. Our horses were easygoing and complied with all directions. We agreed the hour flew by and the scenery was spectacular. Highly recommend!
The 1 hr horse carriage ride was absolutely worth it!! So glad we did it. Thanks to Croquet and Oliver.
Amazing riding experience, went with a group of four. Easy to book/schedule. The guides were very helpful and knowledgable about the area. Beautiful trail ride, did the 1 hr Bow trail and would do it again.
Great store, friendly staff
I'm planning to go to Banff from Dec 13 to 17, 2020. I clicked on a Facebook ad and booked a sleigh ride for 40% off. I was conacted on Dec 10 that it was cancelled due to not having enough snow in Banff. Thr next available date is Dec 18 when I will no longer be in Banff... The company has refused my refund and will only give me credit. The problem is that I may never use it because I may not be back to Banff for years!! They just took my money and I have nothing to show for it. This is not tourist friendly.
Amazing staff! They are resourceful, knowledgeable, and super helpful. Thank you for the experience
Had a blast. Sarah, Natalie and the entire work team are top notch. Horses are well mannered and the ride was educational throughout. I’d definitely recommend when in Banff.
I have taken many rides with Banff Trail riders this season. Yesterday was the first through the River. My nine year old granddaughter was thrilled, so was I. Amazingly well trained, attentive and genuinely caring staff. Such a memorable day.
My daughter had a panic attack and we couldn't continue our ride but our friend that did, had a blast. Super knowledgeable and professional staff. And super kind towards me and my daughter. They were supportive and helped her get off the horse and didn't question anything. I'm very, very grateful and highly recommend them.
We were on the overnighttrip to the sundance lodge and it was awesome. Our guides,Tess and Mike, are very friendly, helpfully and know a lot about the backcountry. The horses are so cute and trained very well. Tucker and Pilsner were such good hiking buddies :-) During the ride we had beautiful views and our guides gave us a lot of information about this area. The lunch at bowriver and the dinner at the sundance lodge were so tasty. The Sundance Lodge is a wonderfulplace and so cozy. This trip was definitely a highlight on our two-month travel in canada. And we want to say thank you to our guides, cooks, horses and the other staff we met for this wonderful experience. We had such a good time!
Terrible experience!!! We showed up a little late to a booking, having told them we would be running late. Once we arrived at the place, they refused to accomodate us and offered to LET us book again at 50% off, having wasted all the money from the initial booking. The worst customer service experience so far from a tourist attraction. Honestly, the people there need to relax, this is not a chartered flight, we're riding horses. People will run late and the solution is not to ruin their entire booking and waste their money. Do not reccomend this place.
What a lovely experience with great guides who are so friendly and ready to impart their knowledge with you. They care so much about each animal and learnt so much including saddlery. A unique way to explore Banff and wish we had longer to do an overnight trip.
What an amazing experience. The entire staff was so friendly. The 3 hour ride was the perfect amount of time. So many trails and hills along the Bow River made for beautiful photos. Will definitely return.
We had a great time! It was my wife’s first time doing horseback riding and she can’t wait to do it again! The staff were great, friendly and knowledgeable (and very observant of everyone) everyone’s safety and enjoyment were their #1 priority.
The horseback ride was AMAZING. Instructions given before the ride and the horses are so well trained. This was one activity that was totally worth it. I paid for one hour but they actually take you for a few mins longer. The tour guide was super friendly!! Beautiful horses and great views. Would highly recommend the horseback!!!!
Loved not only my experience with the carriage ride but also the shopping experience overall great experience
We went on the 2-hour trail ride and had a wonderful time. Our guide, Brian, was just super - telling us about the local area, trees, wildlife and more. We have been on trail rides across North America and this was DEFINITELY one of the very best! We highly recommend it!
Delightful ride and scenery breathtaking Staff was first class and lodging was impeccable. Could not have been better!!
My family and I had an amazing experience. The ride was great, interesting and memorable. What stuck with me the most was the way they handled our reservation. We were running late due to a car crash that was slowing down traffic. After informing them that we will not be able to make it in time they moved my family and me to another ride an hour later, no hidden fees or "handling charges" on any such nonsense. I got a confirmation email a minute later. Impressive and very professional.
All staff members were pleasant and accommodating. Great tour. Definitely coming back.
good place to find your clothes, but it is quite busy in summmer
Went twice. I got to discover them while on Facebook one time and they went on a 40% off sale. I bought one 1 hr ride along bow river and one 2 hrs ride around the Sundance Loop. My second trip stood out the most maybe cause I got to enjoy my horse this time. (The first time I had Tumbleweed he was very snacky, ahaha not good for first timer. I got scared cause he is constantly eating) On my Sundance Loop ride our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging love it when guides are like that! A lil tip though for anyone going on the Sundance Loop, DO PUT BUG SPRAY ON! My friend was wearing leggings now she has so many bites which is not pretty. Luckily I wore pants that day. Thanks Banff Trail Riders! I got to cross off horseback riding in my Bucket List
Very memorable experience. Enjoyed the horseback riding very much!
Didn't go a trip with BTR, but I did meet some staff on the Brewster Creek Trail. Mark, from Antrium, was extremely nice and gracious, helping us out when we couldn't find the trail past the first cabin. If he treats guests as nice as strangers, you are in good hands. Go n-eirí an t-ádh leat!
Absolutely Wonderful
Absolutely wonderful!!! Can’t remember the cowboy but the horse was Zeus. Our family went on October 9... the experience was incredible. Thank you
We went on a magical sleigh ride with Banff Trail Riders this December - the sleigh was cozy, the driver gave a fascinating commentary about the area, and the scenery was amazing! My kids got to pat the horses at the end, which made their day. Great family activity!
It was a great trip, Michael was the tour guide, a superstar indeed, conveying the most authentic experience I've had in Banff so far. It was great pleasure to meet him and the rest of the team. I've learned a lot from this trip about horses and Banff as well, and my horse's name is Ace, a marvelous well-trained horse. I will definitely go for more rides this summer. Highly recommended and a must-not-be- ignored activity in Banff. Thank you guys for the great trip and keep up the great job.
Best pizza rolls in town
Great tour with experienced guides. We’ll trained horses and beautiful scenery. Couldn’t ask for more.
Horrible Customer Service. My 13 year old daughter bought a pair of boots from the store this last weekend. She saved up, working hard for a year for a pair and was very exited to have one, even though it was over $300. The sales person, helping us, did not seem much older than my daughter. She offered us very thin, see through socks to try the boots on in. She never mentioned that the store had no exchange or return policy and seemed only very eager to sell. When we got home, though, my daughter tried the boots with thicker socks and realized the boots were the wrong size for her and hurt her foot to a point where she could not wear them. The boots were only tried on at our camper and never outside. I tried calling the store a couple of times as we had left Banff at that point to figure out the exchange/return but could never get through to talk to anyone for 3 days. We came back to Banff to exchange the shoes but were met with unwelcome/uncaring attitude of “we cannot help you because these are our store policies and you should move on as we have other customers to sell to”and “our manager could not be bothered to be contacted at this time”. This place seems like a tourist trap where the owners really do not care about customer service. They have a production line of 4 million tourists a year, lining up at any given time and they can get away with this kind of attitude. I feel really sorry for my child who was treated with such a dismissive attitude and not seen as a person or helped. Very very disappointed with our experience. It was difficult to watch my daughter’s dream to ride her horse back at home in cowboy boots crash in front of my eyes. As much as I tried, the sales person would not have it and was actually quite rude and spoke in a raised voice. My daughter left with shoes that do not fit and with no money in her pocket.
Had a fantastic time on our romantic sleigh ride for two. Unfortunately I don't remember the young ladies name that was our tour guide but she was very friendly and very informative. The wine and chocolates were very good. I would highly recommend this to anyone.
We live in Calgary and have been saying for at least the last 35 years that we should do the carriage ride in Banff. This September long weekend (2021), we did just that and were so glad we did. You know when you talk about doing something for years and build up your expectation there is a high probability of being disappointed? Well, that was not the case with Banff Trail Riders. We had a wonderful, relaxing ride with Patrick, the beautiful horse that gently guided us through our 30 minute route and Oliver (Patrick's guy - LOL) who made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout the entire trip. Highly recommend Banff Trail Riders.
Horrible Customer Service... Ignorant front staff. Saddles are cheap and extremely uncomfortable, especially for men. Staff were rude, asked us to prove we weren't disabled by waving our arm around in front of many other people. Thought it was some kind of joke until they said they would deny us our prepaid $320 worth of services we had already paid for. Save your hard earned money on something else of go with one of the other horse riding companies in the area.
It was fantastic experience. Well trained horses, very helpful staffs. I will be there in near future. Thanks.
This place was great, our leader Brian was a great guy . I’ll go back and tell friends.
Jill and Jason were amazing guides. They provided excellent instructions and the horseride was relaxing and scenic. Horses (Sailor and Wesley) were super cooperative and friendly :)
The horse is chained to a pole under the hot suntan with no shade for hours. It is visibly trying to escape. This is legalized animal cruelty. Whether or not the horse was saved from an auction does not change the fact that is abuse.
I had a fun and great experience in this horse back riding, even though the horse that I've ridden is a bit agitated. The staff noticed it right away, and I was supervised or manned by one of the staff; I was placed at the last line of the group, if in case the situation gets mishandled. The staff was patient and knowledgeable enough to answer all of our questions.
The ride is nice and scenery is amazing. Guides on the ride are great! I gave 4 stars because the frontline costumer service is not good. The lady giving the initial instructions to the group sounded mean, condescending and stressed. The whole initial preparation process felt tense and is not enjoyable . Once you get out on the trails ... amazing.
Great riding experience! My horse Cactus was a great one!
I recommend a trail ride with Banff Trail Riders to ANYONE who is visiting the area! The scenery was spectacular as would be expected but the experience was made really special by our guide and the care given to the horses. Our guide Danielle had obviously been riding for years and maintained a professionalism required to ensure safety for the diverse group, but what made our experience so special was how engaging and knowledgeable she was. She had stories of the local history, she talked about local wildlife and the signifigance of the park itself. Danielle really made the experience more than just a trail ride. First time riders, families and seasoned veterans will have an awesome time! I have owned horses and been riding for years and was so happy to see how wonderfully, (with love and care) the horses were cared for. It was obvious in their disposition, their appearance and alertness that they were given the best handling and care. Great job guys! Thank you.
Such a nice ride. We did the 1 hour ride which was so nice. The lady in the back of our ride looking after us was just great. All the interesting stories and informative information on the wildlife there and what has been encountered on rides. We came back to the stables later on that evening and saw elk in the field. Thank you for taking us on such a fun ride.
We did the 3 hour tour and it was an excellent way to experience the beauty of Banff. Dagen was a great guide, the horses are all lovely and the whole family really enjoyed the tour. A must do experience in the Canadian Rockies.
I booked for my mother and daughter, they had an awesome and unforgettable experience from hearing their stories. We'll most likely be back in the near future.
What a great time with my 2 daughters. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful scenery! Would do the 3 day one next time!
I am disappointed! I bought a private sleigh tour to spend my bday celebration with family and I pictured a perfect day with a chariot and 4 of us enjoying the ride. When I got there they put us in a big chunky public sleigh and we had to sit all separated . When inquired about what I paid for and what I got , they said it is still a private ride as just it was the 4 of us in the ride. Very disappointing and unfortunately not worthy the money you pay for a private ride. The only good thing was the rider, very attentive and helpful.
My husband I went to Banff to celebrate our 17th Anniversary. We both love horseback riding and what's more beautiful place than in the mountains. The online booking was simple and the instructions on what to wear and expect were very clear. The customer service was great at the ranch. They did everything to ensure our safety. Our guide Brent was very friendly and personally which made the ride even more enjoyable. The trails were wonderful and we were able to see a family of deer which was very special. Being in the river on the horses was very special. Brent explained different locations to us and made sure we had ample time to take pictures as well as assisting with getting pictures of us together. All in all it was a peaceful and relaxing time. We both want to do the backcountry trip sometime in the future. I would like to say thank you to the whole team at Banff trails especially Brent for helping us create lasting memories.
(Translated) Extraordinary scenery beautiful ride the horses are well treated, but to experience it is really full of mosquitoes breathing through the mouth is a challenge! For speaking with the guides and people who have experienced it before it's always like this It would be nice if they told us to bring mosquito repellent and / or provide it!
it is an amazing experienced specially who were doing the first time. I would have given 5 star but 4 star only because of the not good experienced while doing booking at Trail riders. I do not understand of charging 18% while you pay with Credit Card or Debit card that is ridiculous, also I recommended to do your booking at store not online. when I was trying to book online and through phone they said there are fully booked but when I went to store I managed to get booking.
Great experience! They could improve by adding hair nets for their helmets to make it more sanitary.
The staff were awesome, the horses are very well behaved and the shade provided on our ride made the experience more than perfect!!!
the first day was pouring.Kate was patient with my 3 Year old girl. Great experience for her!And it was longer than 15mins. My daughter loved so much so we ended up back the next day with Sara. She taught her some horse commands.Great experience again ! Will be back! thanks girls!
Such an amazing winter sleigh ride highly recommend.
It was drizzling when we went on our ride, so I am grateful that the carriage had a covering on it so we didn't get wet. The only thing was no blankets were provided, due to COVID, so it would have been nice to have been aware of this. I had some in the car that I could have brought. Oliver and Butch were a great team, Butch wanted to go back to the stables, but he was gently guided back on task. We had great conversation, and a few laughs. As all three of us had health issues, the staff accommodated us and were patient with us. It was a great experience. Next time I will book on a warmer day, and also experience the sleigh ride with the meal when it is offered again. Thank you for a great time.
Great 1 hr Ride. Perfect horses. My 10 year old son said it was the best part of the weekend!
So much fun! The staff are friendly and make you feel comfortable, no matter your experience of horse riding and the horses are lovely. We learned a lot from the riders during the ride out about the area and generally quite chatty. The views are beautiful with mountains one way and then the Bow river on the way back - we even saw a coyote! Very enjoyable and highly recommend.
Horrible customer service from start to finish. Every single interaction with Banff Trail Riders was rude, abrupt and made you feel like you were inconveniencing them by spending your money there. Not worth your time or money, and personally, I feel bad for the horses having to be taken care of by them - if they're rude to people, I don't imagine their care for their animals is much better.
Loved it. The check in was easy and the two guides we had were wonderful.
Me & my bestie went for the Bow River Trail ride and loved it! It was her first time ever on a horse and they a great job! I was with Freddy & Jen was with Blue! Definitely will be going back for a bigger experience, Thinking maybe the Bow Valley or the overnight.
Amazing! thank you!
I took the 1 hr spray river horse trail ride with my 13 year old daughter for her birthday. This was such an awesome experience! All the workers are very friendly and the trail rides were just as great. We had two amazing tour guides, Brooklyn and Brent, who were very friendly and informative. We learned a lot about Banff and we would definitely recommend this!
My Mom and I did the 2 night stay at SunDance Lodge August 3-5. To say the least it was an experience of a life time. Asides from the breath taking views and amazing trail ride experience the team that took care of our expedition was above and beyond. Brooklyn Mchale was a phenomenal guide. Armed with her cowgirl charm all the while ensuring everyone was taken care of on and off the trail putting the wellbeing of the group first before her own just showed she goes above and beyond her role. Not mention Jackson the packer and Stacy the "lodge mom" were very accommodating when it came to meals at the lodge and camp fires after dinner. I'm looking forward in the future to do a 6 day trip with more family. Again big thanks to the team that took care of our group, highly recommend Banff trail Riders for anyone from experienced to beginner riders.
In early March some friends and I booked out Sundance Lodge for a one night stay. The lodge is beautiful, and the rooms are very comfortable. We spent the majority of our time in the common area, enjoying the fire, playing board games and hanging out. The meals were great, and also accommodated our dietary requests. There was a lovely charcuterie tray ready when we arrived, and there was a nice selection at dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a great spot for a close backcountry trip!
For beginners like us, my husband and I, enjoyed our horse back riding tour with our awesome guide Sarah. She was so caring and made us feel comfortable for the whole trip. We will definitely go back again. Keep up the good work ! :) P.S. My horse , Red, was so friendly. Thanks for making my birthday so memorable.
We had the most wonderful one hour ride yesterday! Brooklyn was an excellent guide who made my kids feel at ease with the horses, and was incredibly knowledgeable about the area. If we ever have the opportunity to return, we all want to do a multi-day backcountry trail ride.
Booked the 15 minute carriage ride for the end of the day before six o’clock close time opperators were Mike& Ned .had lots of fun kids really enjoyed. Kids were loving the actual horse power????(inside joke) would recommend booking early pick a time that works and plan around. Would highly recommend
(Translated) Top cowboy boots selection and more. Nice service! :) (Original) Top cowboy stiefel auswahl und mehr. Netter service! :)
I went on the 6 day trip to Halfway Lodge and had an amazing experience. Thank you so much Tyla for keeping us safe and guiding us the whole way. I absolutely loved my horse Sailor with all his quirks and challenges and I had so much fun. Also special thank you to Tyla for letting me unsaddle, groom, and feed him, I really treasured that. Thank you so much Dakota for being an amazing host at Halfway, fulfilling our individual requests, and being such wonderful company. The food was incredible and BTR is so lucky to have you!! Thank you also to Olivia for being such a positive and welcoming host at Sundance, even with so many things happening and so many people demanding attention. I especially loved the salmon!
First time experiencing a sleigh ride in Banff. The staff were very knowledgeable and the driver of the sleigh was awesome! They provide a warm blanket, hot chocolate or cider for the ride and go around the area by the stables! Would recommend to anyone who wants to try something new!!!
My friends and I did the three hour Bow Lake ride and it was incredible! The views, the horses and our guide, Emma, were all phenomenal. My husband hadn't ridden before but by the end he was super comfortable and wanted to try another ride in the future. From the moment we arrived on site the employees made us feel comfortable and welcome. During our ride Emma told us some interesting stories about the landmarks around us. By the end we were all interested in coming back and trying one of their overnight back country adventures! Overall this experience was 10/10 for us and we would recommend Banff Trail Riders for anyone who wants to try it!
Had a great three day experience as part of the Stony Creek ride. Awesome staff all around!
It was a busy weekend on the highways before entering banff and we were stuck at the long lines at the booth.. to the point that we missed our initial appointment time. I called and they were able to accommodate us and just in the nick of time.... Luckily, we made It to this ride. For the first time ever! My family and I enjoyed the ride... All the guides were wonderful and friendly and found Steve to be very informative.... Although my kids were a bit scared at the end of their rides asked can we do this again ... very happy with my experience.... Thank you to everyone from the booking office to the staff at the stables..????❤
It was a cold day but beautiful to be out on the sleigh. Brian was a great guide/driver! Glad we purchased the blankets as they kept the chill off
Friendly and helpful staff, and best-trained horses I’ve experienced in a trail ride. Thanks very much!
We really enjoyed our trail ride. We were the only family with our guide Noelle. She shared lots of great stories about her experiences as a guide and about the trails & Banff area. The horses were great and worked well for all of us. We have gone trail riding many times in the past privately, but never in Banff. Its a very unique way to experience the national park. We will definitely do it again!
I was recently in Banff and booked a one hour trail ride with Banff Riders. It was very easy to do online, letting me select the day and time that worked best for me. When I arrived on-site the staff were very friendly settling us in and going over some riding tips. On the trail, the guides gave us great information about various sites like the Cave and Basin and the Bow River. They answered any questions we had about the horses and the area. A great overall experience I would highly recommend for anyone!
Amazing time and professional staff!!
6 Day Horse Ride & Camping was fantastic, horses well cared for and staff very experienced, friendly and fun
Well organized, saw many elk and other wildlife. Horses easy to control, good equipment. I highly recommend the ride.
Toursits, beware!!! We showed up 10 minutes early for our tour and were told we had to get there 30 minutes early. This despite there being plenty of staff available to get us checked in before the tour started. So they took our money and offered ZERO accommodations. On top of that, they were really rude. Look at the other reviews. This is their standard operating procedure. Unfortunately, they take advantage of tourists because they know there is little to no recourse and it's not like most people will be going back any time soon. The time they give you for the tour is the time that the tour leaves the stable, not the time that you have to be there. It makes no sense. Why schedule two times for tours? Why not just have one time for the tour so there is zero confusion about when you are supposed to get there? It seems like they do this on purpose so that they can get out of providing services for the people who don't realize that you have to be there earlier than your actual tour time. They are taking advantage of tourists.
My teenage girls wanted to go on a trail ride, so they needed an over 18 year old to go with them. I was terrified of going ... I’m 50 years old and haven’t been on a trail ride for over 25 years. Everyone working there was so good about making me as comfortable as possible. They gave me a great horse named Homer and my guides Megan and Brian were excellent. Brian even adjusted my saddle during a stop to make me more comfortable. The trail was beautiful and I’m glad I went with my daughters.
I’d rate more if I could! This was my first time on a horse in general, never mind doing a trail ride. I was absolutely impressed with the cleanliness of they’re business (it’s pretty much a big barn so you can imagine), the staff we’re so friendly and informative, ask anyone any question and they had an answer. Extremely friendly, they’re all gentle, kind, not only to they’re customers, but you can very clearly tell they genuinely care about their horses. Very impressed!
Our Family had an amazing time on our trail ride. Spectacular views.! The staff were amazing with our family and we would definitely do it again when we come back.
What an amazing experience. Thank you so much to our guides Amy and Emma for being so good at your jobs, you obviously love what you do. Your devotion to your horses and passion of the outdoors really shines through. Likewise, Claire for taking such good care of us at the Sundance lodge. Best kitchen party ever. The lodge is in a beautiful setting and provides all the comforts, had a great night sleep. My greatest vacations are those that I come away from feeling like I have made a connection to people and this one did not disappoint. To everyone on the ride thank you. I could not have asked for better company, we were a mixed crew in ages and interest that blended idyllically. Morely (my horse) was very patient with me as I had no idea what I was doing, he navigated me through creeks and up the mountainside like a pro. Our ascent up the mountain trail of switchbacks through a magical like forest is a memory I will never forget. I would love to return someday for a longer trip , I highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic time with these folks and the horses, the ride was phenomenal, the horses were all wonderful and the staff even better!! Many thanks to Mark and Jamie for checking one off my bucket list. We will be there again for sure, can't wait!!
Great experience! Our tour guide Brian had great stories and made our ride very memorable
Jenny was our groups lead, she was super fun and made the ride super enjoyable! Everyone was so nice and welcoming and the horses so well trained. Overall a 10/10! Cant wait to go back :)
Myself and my daughter went on an hour ride and it was wonderful! Our guides were great and taught us a thing or two on the ride. I felt very comfortable on the horse and can’t wait to do it again!
Friendly staff, cool products! Canadian made boots are the best!
Great ride, not rushed, friendly and lively staff!
Our half hour Bow River carriage ride with Oliver and the horse Zeus was lovely. The length of time for this ride was perfect for us. We look forward to the next time we can enjoy this experience.
I’m a rider and always cautious when booking trail rides since not all places take the best care of their animals. The horses here though are well cared for and very content. The guides were awesome too and pointed out lots of picturesque spots and gave good recommendations of other local things to try. Great time all around; planning to go back on our next trip!
We (group of adults) did the 1h Spray River Ride and it was excellent. Very cool going through the rivers, across roads, and alongside the golf course. The horses were very well trained and the guides were pleasant and outgoing although it was a bit hard to hear them at times. Definitely a good idea to wear bug spray for the mosquitos. I was a bit worried beforehand after reading a few of the negative reviews but if you show up on time and follow the simple instructions it is an incredible experience. The staff treated us very well and I would certainly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Banff.
Great time! Beautiful scenery and the guides were nice and informative!
We had a nice ride with the horses, but there are some major drawbacks. Employees do not feel responsible if there is a complaint. While booking one is told to be picked up, later it turns out that you should come directly to the stable. If the disclaimer is not completed 30 minutes prior to the ride, you have had bad luck. Only if the owner is courteous, you can possibly get a new appointment. Nobody is interested in the fact that vacation time is lost. The worst thing, however, is the captivity of the horses in a very small enclosure in which they can hardly move. The staff knows the names of the horses only by the marking on the saddle. No love to animals around here.
great experience and staff are very friendly. Highly recommend!
Fun experience in the mountains. The guide's knowledge of the area was impressive and made the ride that much more interesting.
The horseback trail ride was amazing! It was my first time and I felt very comfortable with the horse, Charlie I was matched The staff were very friendly Amy did an amazing job leading the ride I would do it all over again and 100% recommend it Thank you ❤️
The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! They took care of us and made us feel comfortable. On our ride, there was a very rare occurrence where a tree cracked and fell, spooking the horses, causing a bit of chaos! The staff handled it very well and thankfully no one got seriously injured. I would highly recommend!!
The ride was nice but the service was not good as they told us we could ride the horses regardless of being late and set us up with helmets and have us false hopes just to take our helmets away and charge us another 50% of the cost to re-book. Girls don’t know what they’re doing and were talking very nervously about the situation all we wanted to do was join the ride they hadn’t left yet and they gave us a “yes” to ride then cancelled so I am not happy with the overall experience.
We did the 2 day, 1 night ride to Sundance Lodge. We loved the peaceful ride through the forests. Horses were well trained, even through stream crossings. Loved the stay at Lodge, and the food exceeded our expectations.
Very unfriendly and rude to our group.
Great experience and the guides were so nice and helpful and knew a lot about the area. Would definitely recommend and definitely go back for a longer ride next time! Great views!
My friend and I went on such a nice and beautiful private sleigh ride the other day! Our guide Mike was phenomenal and so full of knowledge about the history of the stables and all of the past and present horses! Amazing experience and all the staff were so lovely! Especially the 4 legged furry ones!
Banff Trail Riders: Our tour guide was Brooklyn on a Spray lake ride. She was amazing at leading us through the trail and telling us stories through out. Horses were well trained and very obedient. Highly recommend the horseback ride experience.
The two hour trail on the Rockies was an amazing experience that we will never forget and our guide Elli was very fun, informative, kind and helpful! 100% recommend this experience in Banff!
Came here for our honeymoon and for our 5-6 PM ride, we were suppose to check in at 4:30. Unfortunately, being visitors to the area didn't help our cause as we arrived at 4:50. Unfortunately, this place has a strict check in policy so don't arrive late. Low rating is for the poor customer service that followed. 50% rebooking fee. Further to the reply from the owner. We DID arrive at 4:50 but only spoke with with manager after the briefing. We spoke with another attendant who told us to speak with the manager. Also, the manager had advised us to contact the number on the brochure. Please, if you are going to make an excuse, have proper facts.
The private option sleigh ride was wonderful, and the scenery was breathtaking!
My daughter and I went on the three hour trip with Brent after having very little experience riding horses. We were provided simple instructions, assigned appropriate horses, and Brent kept a good eye on us at all times being quick to assist when needed. The three hour trip really takes you off the grid with great views, ups and downs, along with a visit to a creek. The stables themselves were clean, well organized, and adequately staffed. We were well taken care of while provided with an awesome experience.
I really enjoyed this horseback riding trail as staff were so friendly. It was a beautiful tour around the Bow River. Had ideal weather and so much to see. Definitely will be a return trip in the future. Thanks to the amazing tour guides. The tour guide at the back was sooo friendly. Was there August 28th at 5pm.
Great place to visit. See tge view of the mountains with the gondola ride. Learned a lot about horses during the sleigh ride. Relaxed in the hot spring. Best vacation ever. More things to explore in my bucket list.
Had an amazing time with Banff Trail Riders. Our group did the Sundance Loop. Excellent views and fantastic horses. Brewster was a gentle giant to partner up with!
Had such a lovely visit at Banff Trail Riders this weekend! First of all I couldn’t believe how close and convenient it was to town. Booking was easy, staff were incredibly friendly, and my horse Trigger was the sweetest guy ever!!! So well trained. The trip was enjoyable and had many stunning views along the way. We did the two hour and it was perfect. Thank you!
lady was super friendly and pleasant! Exchange some creative ideas, very informative on the trail rides and boots i was interested in. Great store for gifts and western style interests!! Love it, always going to be back here!
Don’t expect anything but a slow paced in-line ride. It that is your thing, then you will enjoy and may rate them higher than a two.
We had such a great time on our Banff trail ride. Our guide Natalie was so great with my young nieces. It was their first time on horses and they were both a little nervous, but the staff made everyone feel very comfortable. We got to ride past some beautiful scenery and heard some great stories along the way. I would definitely recommend!
It was a terrible expérience as much as for the humans than the horses. Bad customer service. Bad staff. Bad management . Don’t encourage this business
Was so great! Did a 2 day trip with a couple girlfriends. The food was amazing thanks to Stacy! Our guide Katie was so great! She made sure we were all comfortable and her knowledge of the areas was fantastic! Thanks Mark for bringing g our gear up to the Sundance lodge. They were great company in the evening. Thank you #banfftrailrides .
We booked our family for the Spray River Ride and it was excellent. Guides were helpful and friendly, ride was easy for the kids (ages 8-12), and scenery was wonderful.
We booked a private sleigh ride and it was an amazing winter wonderland experience. Thank you for accommodating my special request and we were happy to get engaged at such a scenic spot :) Staff was very friendly, horses were majestic and the whole experience is worth experiencing, especially around Christmas! Would definitely recommend!!
My husband and I had a great time on an hour ride along the Bow River on June 20th. I have no experience riding, but my horse Red was amazing and our guide Jason, who was riding in front of me, was very reassuring. Five minutes into the ride I was very confident and happy that we chose this activity as part of our vacation. In fact, I want to do it again! My husband got to ride a beauty, Blackweath, I belive, and he also had a great time. The staff were very organized and knowledgeable and knew their horses very well; they seemed to be assigned according to the rider experience and weight (obviously) as well as the horse's temperament. Thank you for a great experience Trail Riders!!!
Great dinner ride! Epic scenery, awesome bbq cookout, and wonderful guides/staff. This is a must do when in Banff.
Great team and great experience! Everyone was super bubbly and polite. Would highly recommend! For sure will be back!
We had a super awesome time with Mike and Crockett! This is the best way to get a great tour of Banff. It was bucket list item for my wife and she was so happy that she finally got to do it.
A fine sleigh ride but costs quickly add up with several family members
My husband and I booked a private carriage ride in and around the town of Banff to celebrate both my birthday and our wedding anniversary. Our driver/guide, Katie and our horse, Crockett, were excellent hosts. Crockett calmly negotiated the streets of the town with Katie providing running commentary on the town and its history. It was a great experience that we highly recommend. P.S. The shop attendant, Kelsie, was incredibly friendly and personable providing fun conversation while Kate prepared the horse and carriage.
This place was awesome! We went for Mother’s Day and it was worth every penny! The staff were very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The tour guide was awesome, he told us stories about every part of the trail. Sadly the weather covered the mountains so we will definitely be going back in the summer!!! ????????????
We took our children on the 1.5 hour ride and loved it so much that we came back a few days later for the 3.5 hour ride. Jenna was our guide for the first ride, and she was fantastic!!! Kendra was our guide for the 3.5 hour ride, and she was also wonderful!! They both were very knowledgeable, fun, helpful and made the rides something we want to do the next time we visit. I highly recommend these tours. My children especially loved crossing the river :) The scenery was amazing, and the horses were very well trained for the trails.
we (a family of 4) had great time, and most of all, we felt safe in entire trip, staff are very friendly, we recommend Banff Trail Riders
My mom and I did the 1 hr Bow River Ride and it was amazing. The scenery was beautiful. Gus and Katie were great. We can't wait to come back and book a longer ride in the future.
I loved my two-night, three-day adventure to Sundance Lodge with the Banff Trail Riders team! Being in the very capable hands of both Katie (guide) and Stacey (kitchen goddess) was an absolute treat; they made what was a new experience for me feel like something I have been doing all my life. Katie was very patient with me as I insisted on trying to learn to do all that needed doing for my incredible horse, the mighty Bruce! Stacey's gorgeous meals and snacks had me feeling like I was truly on holiday. Always felt very safe, both with the riding and with the Covid protocols the company has in place. An excellent experience!
We had a wonderful experience on the 1 hour trail ride. Our children 10 and 8 loved it, despite the incredible heat. One hour was a perfect amount of time to give them and us a taste of horseback riding. Our team lead, Ellie was so incredible answering their many questions! They are now waitlisted for riding lessons :) Great experience all around!
Their was a mix up on our part. We were fifteen minutes early and they turned us away because we weren’t early enough. Who says their appointments starts at 10 but you have to be their at 9:30. They should book the tour 30 minutes earlier. We were not the only one with this problem. They had opening at 1 and 4 and they wouldn’t reschedule us without us forking up another $100. Also one of the girls in the front office is VERY rude. I would give the zero stars on their customer service if I could.
(Translated) Great journey of an hour, in a beautiful place. Staff members are so gentle and friendly. They know their job and they are doing it with professionalism. We had a great time! We had a great one hour adventure. The staff are very nice. They know what they are doing, they know their horses well. They are very professional. We had a great time! Thank you ! (Original) Great journey of an hour, in a beautiful place. Staff members are so gentle and friendly. They know their job and they are doing it with professionalism. We had a great time ! Nous avons vécu une belle aventure d'une heure. Les membres du personnel sont très gentils. Ils savent ce qu'ils font, ils connaissent bien leurs chevaux. Ils sont très professionnels. Nous avons eu du bon temps ! Merci !
My daughter and I had enjoyed the ride and can't wait to go back there again. Staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable. It was the first experience riding a horse for my 9 year old kid and she really did enjoyed it. We really recommend the Banff Trail Riders. Thanks for making this amazing memorial time for my daughter.
Overall my experience was awesome. Just one hiccup.... I had my 2 daughters there, and when we were booking in we were told that the riding age was 12 yrs old, my girls are 15. Once we got to the stables though it was explained that the age to ride unaccompanied by a parent is 16. I'm petrified of horses. I sucked it up and got on a horse for I couldn't disappoint them. They gave me a horse that was perfect for me. All I had to do was sit and enjoy. Our guide was very informative and she had only been living in Banff for 3 months. Also they let us change our booked time so we could go back home to get proper footwear. Never let a small issue ruin your own good time. ????????
We did the 2 hour tour and had an amazing time! For being a beginner at riding horses the staff were very knowledgeable, explained how to ride the horses very easily and the horses were very calm and easy to ride. I definitely recommend doing this!
Had a fantastic experience. Will definitely be back!
First off, this wasn’t my first time. After doing the back country twice before, I still felt the need to go again. The 3 times I have done it have all been different. A few things to mention: The staff when checking in is very helpful, steering you in the right direction and ensuring the check in process is fast and easy. The guides are helpful, courteous and knowledgeable making the ride enjoyable. They go out of their way to ensure the ride is safe. The cooks at the lodges are great. The food they prepare is always exceptional. They make sure the lodge is clean, keep us hydrated. We always get met with a smile after a day of riding through the mountains. Now, about this last trip. Katie has been my guide twice. She is wonderful, cheerful, always smiling even in the tough situations. She knows the back country like the back of her hand. She always passes on her knowledge as we travel the countless trails. She made the ride enjoyable. Claudia, Dakota and Claire were instrumental in keeping fed and hydrated. The food was great at both lodges. It’s amazing how they manage to make such fabulous dishes in the middle of nowhere. None of what we do on the trip is possible without back packers. Pulling the mules carrying our stuff, food and other things required for our trip to be memorable was Mark’s and Matt’s job. Without them the trip would be impossible. Of course, this wouldn’t be a horseback riding trip without our long legged friends. Docile and friendly, they are indeed the beat horses I have ridden by far. In closing I’d like to thank everyone who was part of this trip, from the unknown staff we don’t see to the ones who make the trip possible, the new friends we have made for making this the best trip yet. Now only one question remains, will I make it number 4 next next year and decide to do this trip again? Time will tell.
Great place to get souvenirs
Guides were very friendly and patient. Great experience
Banff Trail Rides My friends and I enjoyed a wonderful hour carriage ride through Banff. The staff were professional Friendly and very accommodating. Our guide and driver Mike was courteous, personable ,fun and knowledgeable. It was a great experience and we highly recommend this to others! Thanks to Sterling the beautiful horse that did the job. Five stars!!
We had the greatest time and our guide GABBY, was just awesome. The staff was great and we loved our horses (Texas and Dallas). Everything was freaking great and the fact that it was our first time. We just enjoyed so much and learned some things too.
We had a great time on our hour long trail ride. Our guide Harry was great! I really liked how they took the time to make sure my 9 and 13 year olds were comfortable before we left. A great day!
Beautiful Ride. Loved it. Guides were interactive and friendly. Amazing. Great for beginner riders.
This was our third time going and this past visit was by far the most enjoyable. Roy was such a calm horse it made my fears of getting back on one after an incident with a horse that got spooked by a car on a Mexico trail ride that did not end great for me. It took a lot to get me back on one but my daughter loves to go. The staff did very well with going over instructions and the horses are so well trained my fear was gone almost immediately. Our guide, I think his name was Hunter, was funny, knew a lot about the area and kept the ride interesting and was a sweetheart to my incredibly chatty 10 year old daughter. Even with all of her questions and comments, he was patient and chatted with her, while laughing and joking. She hasn't stopped talking about her ride and is already planning her next one.
The 2 night & 3 day at Sundance Lodge was excellent! Katie was our host & she is knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! Stacey was lovely & cooked up delicious meals! Thank you Mark for bringing all the gear in & sharing your knowledge! Booking was effortless. The horse that was chosen for me was amazing! Love Mustad! I felt safe, comfortable and would most definitely do it again. The scenery of the mountains, forest, and creeks was epic. Thank you to all the staff who made this an memorable experience for me! The beds are super cozy at the lodge!!!
Amazing experience!! :)
I loved my experience horseback riding. They gave good instructions on how to ride your horse. Mind you I already have some experience riding horse from lessons I've been taking back home in Montreal.
Had such an amazing time during our horseback cowboy lunch! Not only was the weather amazing but the views were incredible and the staff was super friendly and helpful. I do recommend to bring LOTS of bug spray as the mosquitos will eat you alive on the forest trails. Otherwise, amazing experience!
My husband, two teenage sons and I were spending summer holiday in Banff, we're from BC. Without horseback rides experience, we decided to try it. It was a beautiful to ride, scary at first but our faith and trust is much stronger than fear. We had so much fun, most likely would ride again. Thank you Banff Trail Riders group! your company is highly recommendable.
It was an awesome experience, the training was helped to make us feel comfortable on the horses. For the most part the horses follow each other in single file without an issues. The scenery was spectacular. You may have to practice holding your phone with one hand to take pictures. Make sure you spray with mosquito spray before you get near the horses. We all got a few bites even with long pants on. The hour ride was perfect and the staff were awesome. I highly recommend this activity.
I did the Bow River ride near the end of April. It was myself and a group of 4 other people for this tour. The guides are super helpful in setting up the horses for your ride and making you feel comfortable and they go over the riding instructions before you head off. The ride is an hour long that takes you through a forested trail and along the bow river before heading back to the stables. It's a good ride for someone who is looking for something to do in Banff but doesn't have a lot of time to do the 2 hour or longer rides. The horses are adorable as well :)
Well organized and very friendly trail guides.
A really nice way to spend an hour or two. We were so lucky and got a light snow during our time. The fire, marshmallows and hot chocolate were a wonderful touch. My mom really enjoyed the horses and we all had a great time with the guide we had, I forget his name but all the staff we came across were great.
We had a great time on our sleigh ride. Tom was our tour guide; he was funny and shared lots of cool information about Banff that we didn't know before. We were also running late and weren't going to make our 10AM ride as planned, but Lauren was kind enough to rebook us for 11AM and saved the day! Thank you Lauren!!
Did the one hour horse back ride. Never been on a horse before and was a little nervous. The ride is actually an hour no less. Hunter made me feel confident and assured me that pumpkin (my horses) was a good horses. Everyone else was amazing as well. I would definitely go back next time I’m in Banff
My fiancé and I enjoyed our ride on the horses. We were towards the back of the horse line but we had a lovely trail guide, Carole, who rode with us and made us feel comfortable with her encouragements that we were doing a good job steering our horses. She even came to the rescue and helped my fiancé with his saddle that came loose — strong and mighty! All the staff were very nice and helpful and made our whole experience so enjoyable overall. Special shout-out to Sulfur and Chinook, the two horses who’s personalities fit well with me and my fiancé. Would highly recommend these folks and this trail ride company. We can’t wait until we can come back and enjoy more horse trail adventures!
Took the 1 hr bow river ride. Had the pleasure of riding a horse named Wesley…. Fantastic experience, it was a very gentle ride with hikers passing us on the trail at one point , but it was very relaxing and fun! Staff were professional and always courteous.
Really cool place! I went on the 2 hour trail, and had a great time. We saw a bear with its cubs on the trail and also had some awesome views of Banff. The guides were very organised and informative. I would recommend it to anyone. If I get the chance I will be going back for the full day out!!
Ride sorely afflicted by horseflies and rude support We took a 1 hour ride along the lake. Unfortunately we were not warned of the horsefly swarms - neither at booking nor before saddling up. This resulted in stressed horses and lots of bites for the riders. A day ahead we contacted Banff Trail Riders by telephone. We had an issue with our booking and they were, in my opinion, very rude towards their customers. PS: They instructed us to put our phones in fly mode due to the possible distraction. I don't think a ringing mobile phone compares to massive swarms of attacking horseflies.
Great horseback riding options
Thank you to Mike (the human) and Butch (the heavy worker of the team) for a wonderful late afternoon ride. The champagne and chocolates were great but Mike's knowledge of the area and history and his understanding of the horses and wonderful work of this company in rescuing so many beautiful horses at auction made this a fabulous experience. To see these horses at work and happy was worth triple what we paid. Thank you Banff Trail Riders for such a great experience. We will be back!
I can’t say enough great things about these ladies! We used them twice on our honeymoon, once for a carriage ride and a second time for a trail ride. Our carriage ride was so much fun, I can’t remember the girls name but she told us lots of cool facts about the Fairmont and cool ghost stories! She also recommended the spray river trail ride to us which we did the next day. The trail ride was awesome! Being at the back I got to talk a lot to the guides who were also fantastic girls! I found out all their horses are actually rescue horses which is amazing! I would recommend them 100 times over! Amazing people work here!! And the horses were pretty great too!
Worst quality ever. DON'T buy here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We bought Cowboy boots for $300 here. After wearing them the first time the leather started to flake off. Again: DON'T BUY HERE!!!
We had a really good time on the 3 hour mount sulphur trail. The horses were very sweet and well trained, they pretty much new the trail and left me able to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient. The one drawback was the timing- although it said 3 hours it was actually 4. As a novice rider I was in quite a bit of pain by the end of it. I also wish we had more time on the water or along the river. Final tip- bring bug spray!
I went on the 3h ride in Banff on September 4th. Josh was very attentive to make sure everyone was following and was ok. He provided information that commented the ride and the views. Thanks so much for a great experience ????
Knowledgeable trail guide. Very helpful and friendly staff. Will be back, one of the better places to ride in the area.
We took a corporate retreat to Banff. We (a group of 12'people) booked a "Cowboy Cookout" which was to be a horse back ride to a BBQ. The excursion was an entire evening event. We prepaid $1,800 ($150 x 12 people). The event began at 5pm. We were supposed to be 15 minutes early. We checked in at 4:52 pm. We were told the cutoff was 4:45 and we were refused to go on the excursion. When we asked what we missed they said "a weigh in" and "signing the waiver" - which was a one page document sitting on the counter. Remember this was a prepaid event. We literally watched another group saddle up on our horses and trot out of the stable. We were denied a horseback ride and the dinner we had pre paid $150 per person for. Rather than making any accommodations whatsoever they said they have a strict no refund policy and we could go pound sand. Kelsey and her "manager" Katie were unapologetic, rude, dismissive, and when I told her I would pursue getting my $1,800 back, she said "good luck with that." This company is all about money with no interest whatsoever for the customer. Because we were visiting for the States and leaving Banff, they were happy to steal $1,800 despite providing nothing in return. We even offered to walk to the cookout on the horse trail, they refused.
Such a great experience! The scenery is unmatched & we can’t say enough about all of the the staff! They put everyone at ease, even the ones with no experience on horses at all! We rode up front with our trail guide, Josh. He was so friendly & knowledgeable & added tremendously to overall experience! Highly recommend!
Riding with banff stables 3+ hours ride up/down Sulphur Mt was the most wonderful life experiences Ive ever had! Everything from saddle up to dismount was delightful, everything you said it would be, and more! Thank you for my memorable time, and thank you to our pack leader/guide 7/5/18 9:30 am ride.
Felt like we were on an assembly line and the group I joined was very large. Once mounted we were waiting in a congested corral and my horse, Cowboy, was getting pushy with another horse so I steered him away. He didn't want to move so I insisted. I was told by one of the workers to "be gentle with Cowboy" which I found odd because I wasn't reigning him roughly. Then the workers were instructing us on the order we'd be leaving the corral in to keep families and friends together and I was second last. When I was trying to move out of another woman's way I was again told to "be gentle with Cowboy". At this point, I was getting frustrated. I rode competitively growing up so I'm not completely oblivious and I'm certainly not heavy-handed. This set the tone for the entire trail ride because I was afraid of being reprimanded again. Cowboy spent the entire ride trying to pass the horse in front of him and I had to worry about getting kicked. I won't be returning or recommending them to family and friends. Cowboy was a lovely horse and I'm sure he just wasn't having the best day but allowing that behavior isn't acceptable.
Great spot and really nice products
This place has the most wonderful accessories and all things Western. Wonderful customer service as well!
Had an amazing experience horseback riding through the trails! I've never been on a horse before so I was a bit nervous, but the staff helped make me feel more comfortable! Only suggestion I have is to maybe give a bit more instruction for first time riders. 10/10 would do again!
Stellar good time. Instructors were pleasant. Were able to accomodate riders of all skill levels. I would return for another round.
This was a great experience! So happy I did it. The staff was all lovely. Megan and Claire who were on the tour were very friendly and helpful. The horses were super sweet and very well behaved. We were given good instructions. I was happy some employees wore masks while assisting us. My only wish was that the trail went a bit more through the water, but I understand they have to choose a safe trail! A lot of fun, I really recommend.
We had a wonderful time on the two hour ride around beautiful Banff countryside. Staff were super friendly and horses well cared for. I like that they source their horses from the auction which essentially saves them from potential slaughter and gives them a second chance in life. We would definitely ride with these guys again!
Fun great items little expensive for me but nice
Have just returned home to Ontario from the Banff Trail Riders 3 day back country trip with my daughter. A bucket list adventure for us both and it was so beyond our expectations! Our horses, the stunning trails and scenery, the Sundance off grid lodge, the food were all second to none fabulous. A special shout out to our trip guide Maddy who was so helpful, fun, charming, enthusiastic and just the "real deal"! Also to the chefs at the lodge and all staff we encountered, loved your cheerful friendliness and dedication. Truly this operation is a well oiled machine while maintaining an "authenticness" that made our experience truly one of a kind. Thank you all so much, will be back!
Amazing experience! Staff were super kind and helpful. On the trail Natalie was phenomenal in her friendliness and knowledge of Banff!
