REVIEWS OF Marutama Ramen Central Library IN Vancouver

Wesley Doerksen

A must-try ramen in Vancouver. Rich, creamy broth with a nicely flavoured hard boiled egg. I've become a regular!

Adam O'Neill

The soft boiled egg is perfect, melt-in-your-mouth and tasty with a half runny yolk. Broth good. Wall-to-wall people.

Filipe Lopes

Delicious ramen, one of the best in a city known for excellent Asian food

bernard benson

Been my go to ramen spot for a while. Still the best, but I noticed the quality of the soup changed over time. I remember when the soup wasn't as milky and creamy. Tried the one in Tokyo, and the broth was the same as I remembered before and the broth was a lot clearer. Just curious if there was a change in ingredients or procedure? Would still highly recommend for those who love ramen and first timers. But wish the broth wasnt as creamy as it is now.

Lauren Sprechman

One of the best Ramen I have ever had...

Stan Buckens

Five stars because vegan options.

Archuro

Took my parents to their first ramen experience ever and the service was fast and food was delish!

Joshua Murdoch

When they say it is a lighter broth, they weren't joking...try to make sure they drain out as much water from the noodles before they put it in the already light broth

Ronald Saw

Quite a popular lunch venue - had to wait for about 30 minutes before we got a spot, but was totally worth it. Tried non-ramen items on the menu for the first time and they were as delicious as their ramen.

Gabriel Ybanez

Long wait for an ordinary day. If you want to eat here, don't come with lots of company. Their sitting & place is limited.

Kiet Pham

Fast and great service. The ramen itself is delicious. Great for a quick ramen craving!

Andrea Spallanzani

Quick, efficient, and friendly. Try not to visit during lunch/peak hours with a large group, you will not get a seat together.

Kelvin Fong

Quite possibly my favourite ramen in the city. The staff here are always lovely too!

Paul Andrew Rossi

One of the best places to have a “Ramen”. Noodles are so good, goes really well with the soup and toppings. Staff is so friendly and welcoming. Positive environment, fast service and beautiful girls. You won’t regret going there. Just for a note they don’t accept cash, only Cards please.

This made my top 10 all time meal list...so flavourful and perfectly cooked.

Diego Martin

There was nothing wrong with the ramen but it was not good or anything special considering all the rave reviews and recommendations. The creamy chicken broth didn't taste strongly of chicken, to me it was like a mild mixture of chicken and even tonkotsu. I suspect people may love it because there aren't any other ramen places serving creamy chicken broth, but I've had some in HK at regular ramen places (not famous) and they were much more creamy and flavorful than this. I did like the seaweed topping though!

Paochang Tsai

One of the best Ramen places that I personally enjoy, Very fast and quick service the waitress and staff are very friendly and also they did a really good job during Covid and took the right precautions. There is a lineup majority of the time which is a good thing so be prepared to wait.

Kevin Canning

Love this ramen place. It's small and lots of people come here so prepare to wait during meal time. The pork bone soup is amazing. It is flavourful and and not too salty. It's especially creamy but not too thick. They serve 2 kinds of chasu. The original which is small but flavourful and the larger size which is less flavourful but plentiful.

Patrick Kingsbridge

You have to try eggs, pork belly, lager, and spices of this place.

Jerusha Chua

One of my favorite ramen spots in the city, quick service and simple menu! Expect a wait at peak times!

Mav Gill

10/10 HANDS DOWN BEST RAMEN PLACE I’VE EVER BEEN! (So far) everything tasted fresh and the broth was so rich. Worth waiting especially in the evenings, great late night food! Kae-dama please!! Will come back for it!

Evan Alexander

I love everything about this place. I love the food, the good customer service, the ambiance and the affordability. Would recommend going at a not-so busy hour since a line up will eventually start to form outside, but I can guarantee that its worth the wait. I ordered the Tamago Ramen one which comes with a hard boiled egg, meat, noodles & spring onions. They ask you if you want mild or spicy so if you can't tolerate spice, its all good. Will definitely go back and definitely must-try ramen place.

Jardin de Serina

The noodles were just ok. I don't see what the fuss is about. Broth had no depth.

NN LANN

The Broth!! It is truly the best! Creamy, flavorful, together with the aosa seaweed, i would totally come back!

Francisco Macias

Tasty ramen and good service. Very popular so a bit of a wait.

Karine Albert

It was definitely delicious.

Brittany O

Marutama has the best ramen, and the best ramen egg! Delicious creamy chicken broth. I highly recommend it. Marutama has been a favourite of mine for years and I continue to keep going back.

Michelle Y

Third time here. Always super busy, reflect their taste, fresh and quality. Loved the Tamago Ramen with the soft boiled egg. Portion looks small but it was actually filling. The Cha Su Gohan (Pork Fillet on Rice) is to die for. Very well recommended.

lahana ghosh

Loved it. A nice light chicken broth opposed to the standard pork, which is always heavy and rich. And a buck fifty for extra noodles is a nice touch when you have nothing but broth left. One of the best in town.

Angie To

My go to place for ramen when I work in downtown. Thicc soup along with quite chewy noodles. The thin noodles pick up the soup very well. The half boiled and seasoned egg is very good - I like how it's not too runny. The flavor is good. The pork meat is okay not the best. Still think Jinya owns that one. Try the spicy soup - it'll surprise you.

I don’t eat chicken, so just accompanied my business colleague. He’s Japanese and said it’s authentic, and can give top ratings. Atmosphere was lively, staff friendly.

Melissa Miller

I’ve tried all of the big ramen chains in Vancouver- Marutama comes out on top. Their ramen can’t compare to any. We eat here weekly to satisfy our cravings.

Dan Tait

Overall pretty average, however the soft boiled egg and pork belly were pretty good.

Kaven Cheng

I used to love Marutama but the new broth recipe makes me sad!!!!! Why change a good thing :( The new recipe is a lot more diluted and 'creamy' but not as rich as before.

Bernice Ho

This Marutama location has the same menu as the location in Bidwell. The ramen and broth taste just as good, and there there are little to no line ups here!

Lily McGraw

Delicious ramen with amazing soup and huge Cha-Shu (pork)! This is the best chicken soup base ramen I ever have!!! Fast service (food is served quickly)! Super friendly and considerate waitresses!!! Though it is not cheap (but reasonable), it is definitely more than worth the price!!! No wonder it has such a high rating on Google reviews and Yelp!!! Highly recommend it!!!

Hailee Sanford

Really good Ramen. I just wished the bowls were bigger lol.

Mackenzie Shopland

Love it Aka Raman is the best

Joshua Fang

Simple, straightforward, delicious. All the things I want in a ramen shop. Centrally located. Great service. Turnaround times are fast. All ramens are great. The seaweed one is the best. Love this Marutama Ramen :)

Mez M

Quick and cheerful place offering ramen with a delicious broth. Good sides also.

John Batica

Excellent Ramen. Gets busy fast, so come in a small group or get there early for lunch. They have garlic chips as a side for your ramen which is absolute heaven. These guys also make their own noodles and it shows in the quality. I suggest a Tamago Ramen with and xtra egg.

Cardster

Credit card only! Otherwise, this place offers the best chicken based soup base and tasty ramen.

Ying Ying Lee

The kids are uber friendly and engaging and thus the initial engagement is warm and very welcoming. They have a good variety and their spice levels are pretty damn elevated to open your sinuses. Having said that, the spice levels while they wake your senses up, do not suppress the flavour profile of the broth or the ingredients, it's a well balanced comforting ramen that makes it one of my top ramen joints in town. If you are a tourist, must try and if you are a ramen fan, these guys are different, must give em a try.

John Wu (Bun)

Marutama ramen is an excellent place to go for ramen. I always go there because it has the best ramen in Vancouver. I love the flavour it is like a real Japanes ramen, is tasty and hot. I loved the spicy was a very good choice. If you are not spicy lover, doesn't matter it has midle flavour. I saw on the menu a lot of varieties of ramen, for example Tamago ramen is not to big, but you will be satisfied. If you are a good eater then you have more options. It has a feew of entres but the best ones are gyosas. I tried them and they were delicious, you can't miss them. The place is small but the service is faster the waiteres are always are smiling and they are coming to check if everityng is ok.

D S

Love the ramen here. The broth is so nice. After u drink it, it leaves a sticky film on ur lips so rich and creamy. I love that they use chicken broth so full of flavour. I like how they have deep fried garlic chips that u can put in ur ramen. Soft boiled eggs delicious. Piping hot soup perfect for the cold. It’s funny because I don’t enjoy aosa (sea lettuce) but I do not mind it here.

Gwen Nam

Decent ramen. They also have one veggie ramen for the non-meat eaters. Only one noodle type offered. They give you a whole egg with the ramen, other only give half an egg. Only chicken and veggie broth offered. Good chewy gyoza. Friendly service. The place can be busy at times so you might have to wait a couple of minutes. Note: they only take debit and credit card, no cash.

Drew Wei

Good ramen using chicken stock instead of pork. The have yummy roasted garlic slices as condiment.

We love Marutama ramen, have been to this location several times, service is good and the ramen is our favorite

Sok Samnang

I say amen???? to this ramen ????

Franklin S

The broth at first try was amazing because it a little sweet, fat, yummy. However, it like my throat was stuck by oil. I mean, if you are not a fan of fat food. Do not eat full bowl of ramen here.

Yea Boye

Tasty ramen, nice staff and quick service. The triple combo !

Cass Lao Real Estate 勞麗嫦專業地產

My favorite ramen in the area. Even if there's a long line, the service is fast and people rotate in and out quickly. The chicken broth instead if standard pork broth makes marutama unique, and keeps pulling me back for more.

Bob Lee

Probably some of the best ramen I've ever had. The noodles are thin and has just the right amount of chew. The broth is rich without being too heavy or salty and the cha-su and marinated egg is luscious. Can't wait to come back.

Sammy Wong

This was a refreshing surprise to the typical ramen options available almost anywhere in Metro Vancouver. Marutama Ra-men’s unique approach to the famous noodle soup makes it stand out from the norm, as seen with its popularity among both tourists and locals alike. The actual ramen portion was fairly acceptable, given the plentiful slices of chashu pork but being offset by a smaller portion of noodles. Next, the ramen’s infamous broth did not disappoint. Compared to a stronger shoyu or tonkotsu broth, this had a lighter and cleaner taste, while remaining flavourful. The negi and aosa are also a great addition not only presentation-wise but also in enhancing the flavour. The chashu also tasted well, though it was a bit dry and firm. The egg was cooked too long, preventing the yolk from forming the soft creamy centre. Lastly, the noodles were a hair too soft, and could be more firm. As well, the noodle portion was slightly smaller than expected, only being offset by the option to add more at a cost. The gyoza were standard, the flavour profile being similar to that of other ramen joints. The filling, made of minced meat and green onion, were seasoned well, and the wrapping was not too dense. The accompanying sauce, made of soy sauce and sesame oil, did not play too big of a part and could have been stronger. At the price point, a higher quality is expected. The service was kept to a brief interaction as necessary for orders and payment. Drinks and cutlery were self-served, and condiments were for communal use. The waiters were helpful in showing the different menu options as well as recommendations and descriptions. Overall, this place stands out from similar restaurant due to its two unique selling points; the creamy chicken broth and their egg. While most of the food and service were above average, improvements could always be made as highlighted in suggestions for the various foods.

Jamie McIntosh

Ramen can be a hit or miss, but this place is definitely a hit. Great cozy place to eat and the ramen game is solid.

Andy Koo

Delicious.

Hesam Eskandari

My favorite Ramen place in Vancouver! I love everything about the ramen they serve here. The broth is always so rich and creamy. The chicken flavour is amazing. The noodles can be prepared however you like them. The chashu slices are tasty. I LOVE THE SEAWEED. And the free toppings (sesame seed, some spice, and dry fried garlic) are perfect if you want an extra bit of something in your ramen. I wish I could give this place more stars. Only thing to note: they don't accept cash, so make sure you have your card ready.

J C

I am used to eating Japanese ramen with pork broth but this place serves chicken broth instead. Chicken broth was different but it was good different. Highly recommend. Located right in front of the central library.

John-Mark Campbell

Very good ramen. I had the classical one and it was great.

Jen Clark

Excellent ramen - attentive service. This place gets busy for a reason.

Sharon Cheng

got the shoyu ramen and dumplings. felt like the ramen broth needed more flavor

Kenneth Chang

its pretty good soft tender meat yum good music (jammin')

Tanya Marrazzo

Flavorsome Japanese ramen with vegetables. Polite and smiling staff. Limited space and customers were lining up outside to get in. Curbside parking only.

Vilma Ng

The best in town bar none the broth is incredible the noodles or hand made lots of pork and yes they have gyoza and there is parking on the street right in front of the restaurant and always spaces available

AH K

Good simple taste. A ramen shop among the plethora you can find in Vancouver :)

Austin Cheung

Location is very close to BC Place and convenient for a Ramen before a game or event. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Thank Ramen for me was delicious! And the experience for the place is awesome, for sure I will there again.

Steven Duong

Great tasting Ramen. Was very busy when I went at around 9:00 pm after a VIFF showing but the wait was not very long as they are very speedy for service. Very quick service and super friendly dinning atmosphere overally. Highly recommended if you are into Ramen.

Marc Apollo

Awesome Ramen cooked using chicken broth. Can put additional toppings by personal preferences. p.s Pork is really delicious????????

Minh Tran

The second branch following the Westend one. Same consistent yummy taste, but this place feels bigger & brighter. So far not as busy and the wait is not as long... So this is easily became our go-to!

harry ren

Good ramen, probably one of the best places for ramen in Vancouver.

Angeline

One of the best Ramen places in Vancouver. Say "katamen" to get firm noodles!

Matt Jackman Wong

Personally, best broth, best noodles, best staff, and fried garlic at the table for topping = best ramen in Vancouver. I'd say get the Tan-Men, spicy with two eggs, get a kai-dama if your really hungry or looking to take leftovers (bring your own container for that, let's not make more waste people).

Natalie Topolski

BROTH IS AMAZING HERE!!! Haha not that much fan of the noodles but boyfriend loved it

Krainst Lin

Always have to stop in here when we are in Vancouver. Great light chicken broth full of flavour!

Alex Novikov (OmniStrife)

A unique ramen place because instead of the pork broth, which is what we are used to, they use chicken :) Marutama is famous for their Aji Tama (marinated eggs), so don't miss out on that!!

Shriram Sharma

I was greeted right away by a soft-spoken Japanese server. I liked the fact that she was very conscious of the vegetarian noodle dish I ordered - whether I want vegetarian or pork broth, and that I can not have spicy dish because it has fish sauce. I really appreciate this so much ???????????????? I like their communal tables. The chairs have a storage inside so you can put your belongings (instead of the floor). Music is top 40 but not too loud. Washroom is clean. The restaurant is clean! Like my review and photos? Please give me a thumbs up ????

Jessica Hong

Best ramen in Vancouver. The noodles are perfect, one of the only ramen noodles in Vancouver custom-made in-house. The broth is sublime, creamy and chicken based. The soft aosa seaweed synergizes well with the broth by soaking up it's rich flavor while also giving the ramen a unique texture. The egg is marinated, and soft-boiled, but the pork could be a bit better/crisipier for my tastes. One of my favourite places to eat out in Vancouver, plus it's cheap!

Helen Park

Food was fast, delicious and hearty. Would recommend!

Charlie C

Awesome ramen. Simple menu, very good though. Ate here 3 times in three days.

Olivia Zhang

Love their hospitality, and the food taste yummy!!

Tibor Virágh

Great food. Very poor service from the waiter. 8PM there were still open seats and no lineup but we we're rushed to leave the restaurant as the waiter came and asked if she can take the dishes and bring the bill, even when we didn't even call her... If you love marutama ramen I suggest you go to the other one around Robson.

Jamie Learning

first time trying rich creamy chicken broth like resembles the pork bone broth. very rich so i wouldn’t be able to slurp the whole bowl. but flavor is good. i would go with the aka ramen over the original for an extra different flavor too cuz the richness a bit. also had to add some lemon to the broth to cut the richness. wish i’d ask for more al dente noodles though cuz the noodles are soft by default. good pork but egg could be a little more runny cuz mine was a little overcooked. gets busy with a line so come before it opens for lunch. two locations on robson - on each end of the street.

Lily Le

The ramen was really delicious the first time visited. The combination of pork meat with chicken broth was interesting. However, the second time I went there, the broth was bland and wasn't as delicious as before. Both times, the staff was very friendly and spoke Japanese as well.

Rye

arguably my favorite ramen joint in city, with rich chicken broth, and perfectly cooked egg. opt for the cha shu tamago ramen for generous portions of meat

Amit Hattimare

Great place to eat. One of my fav restaurants

Roxanne Greeson

Flavourful, clean, good value. Little busy around lunch but well worth the wait.

Marjan Farahbod

Disappointed. We had the same ramen store in Singapore and that was heavenly. That was my favourite ramen store in Singapore. However, the one in Robson is totally different. Soup is a little too salty, too thick and too oily. Quantity is much less (including the seaweed, green onions and noodles). The price is pretty high. Totally not worth the amount of money for this quality. I think I would choose Jinya over this in Vancouver from now on.

MAi Quyên Nguyễn Thị

It was a good soup (especially with adding fresh lemon). I have had better ramen and gladly we didn’t have to wait long. The Gyoza was nice too but nothing amazing. The service was really good. Since flavor is subjective, my opinion is If there is a really long line outside, might be worth going to another spot.

Domineau Wiley

Amazing Ramen ???? I tried original spicy ???? soooooooo good!

Sydney S

My favorite Ramen place (so far). The stock is full of flavor and the egg is perfectly cooked. Chashu tastes great and the chard (?? some greens) are very mild and works great with the other rich flavors. Add extra garlic and sesame to complete the meal. Yum

Chad Gergely

Hands down the best place to get ramen

Ziad Haddad

The ramen tastes delicious. I do believe it's one of the best.

Elsy Chow

Great ramen joint. Flavourful, approachable and overall delicious. Staff are always very friendly as well. Every time I visit Vancouver for work, I make a point to eat here!

James Chen

Definitely best bang for your buck! at the base price of $9 you get a rich and very filling Ramen experience! this is a chicken base broth but boy is it tasty! there's always a line up during lunch so if you are a group it will be harder to get you seated but if you are alone you will get a seat faster!

gurneel kaur

The broth was good, the noodles slightly softer than I liked, and the garlic flakes a nice highlight. What I really didn't like was how rushed I felt. I just set down my chopsticks and the waitress put the bill and card machine in front of me. I went at 2pm and the shop wasn't even busy. So what's the hurry?

Jennefer Boudreau

Very good chicken broth, and a great after-work atmosphere. Not crazy hectic like the ramen places around.

Gabriel Santiago

One of few ramen places that have chicken based soup. As someone who doesn't eat pork, it was refreshing to have more choices.

Stephen Chong

If you are coming here expecting to have the same food quality as the Marutama on Bidwell street, you will be bitterly disappointed. It's worse than Jinya was and costs the same. I'm not sure whether this restaurant is under the same owner as the original Marutama or if this is a franchise, but something got lost in translation when setting up this place. I tried the original ramen with mild soup and an egg. The egg was great, but the soup and noodles were bland and weird tasting. It wasn't oily which was nice but I couldn't even bring myself to try to finish the bowl, it was that unsatisfactory. Stick to the old favourites at the upper end of Robson.

Cindy Sinx

Lovely ramen restaurant with authentic Japanese staff and atmosphere. Affordable and filling! Be warned: you can't pay with cash here, only credit and debit cards.

Alexandre Cardoso

Spicy chicken broth suits my taste over heavy pork based broth from other ramen places.

Aaron T

Broth is way too rich to accompany with Chashu. Felt a little bit nausea after the meal... Not recommended.

marwan sinno

Good, consistent quality; friendly staff; well spaced seating with dividers in covid times. Go nearly every week. Cheers!

Sophie N

Great food and service! Highly recommended!!!

Chin

Unique chicken broth ramen with different noodle choices, great place! Their fried garlic goes so well with the ramen.

Y L

Vancouver is basically ramen paradise outside of Japan. You have your pick between what you want. We wanted a chicken broth, so Marutama was it. And the broth was amazing. I also enjoyed the egg and the seaweed. The chashu was on the underwhelming side, though. Gyoza and dashimaki tamago were delicious too!

marj A

The ramen was very tasty and I appreciated the speedy service, but I cannot abide places that don’t accept cash.

Douglas Sum

So good and bang for the buck Ramen.

Azin Z

I used to come here quite a bit, as I have really fond memories of being there. But it isn't the same anymore. Last time I went the broth, noodles, and eggs were either flavorless or had less flavour than previously before. Their recipe changed and it's just sort of... Meh. So long Marutama :(

James Yang

Ramen itself was amazing (especially the AKA flavour) and at a cheaper price than some other ones downtown. Service is inconsistent. You can only pay buy credit card, no debit and no cash is accepted.

Barney Andersen

This place is so satisfying for ramen. Unlike the traditional pork-based Ramen that you would normally find, this restaurant has a chicken based soup which has a lot cleaner of a taste and is surprisingly addictive. My only wish was that they had one open near my house but otherwise this is one of my favorite places to go for ramen.

Sherry Li

Line moves quickly, servers are nice and efficient. I think the noodles could be improved, but everything else in the ramen is really good. Gyoza are great too.

Alvin Wong

rich and creamy!!! Can never go wrong with the tamago ramen. Comes with marinated boiled egg, which is the best part. It is never not busy since the space is a little small but definitely feels homey and cozy. One of the places that actually takes card only, no cash

Stephen

Decent price for what they offer, the broth is really good, I like their spicy broth. I visited couple times, great experience, I had recommended to few friends they all gave good feedback. Only thing is they don’t do take out, but it’s a place you feel comfortable eating by yourself.

Christine Kwok

Omg the ramen, broth, egg and everything about this place is so awesome. The ramen broth is so creamy and rich. The egg was not overcooked so that when you broke into it, the yolk would run out and add to the texture of the broth making it even more creamy. The noodles are done perfectly. Ordered the Cha-Shu Tamago Ramen. We learned about this place from some chefs that come here often as it's their go-to place for ramen. Now we know why. The Cha-Shu melts in your mouth. The broth is so creamy that you will not leave any of it behind after you're finished your noodles. You get a choice of spicy or mild. We asked if we could have the spice on the side so we could add however much we wanted based on how we liked it. They're extremely friendly and the service was efficient. It's one of the most satisfying ramen dishes that we've ever had.

Bella F

This is the first time for ramen take out so didn't have the restaurant experience. Traditional ramen. + Egg is phenomenal. + Seaweed and hot pepper oil are creative and enjoyable. = Soup is not bad. = Pork is ok. A bit too salty and tastes preserved. ------ Come back to update the rating to 5 now that I have had a sit down experience here!!! Perfect eggs. Chicken soup a bit on the lighter side. Pork, soup, service etc are perfect! Wish they let us to choose what type of noodles - the ones we got was on the thinner side.

Priyanka Khosla

The best ramen on Robson. Definitely add the crunchy garlic to the broth.

ECU Bill

Spicy broth was very flavorful if you enjoy spicy flavors without it being too hot. Very convenient location. If you are hungry do not forget to save your broth for kae-dama.

Iacopo Poli

Super delicious green ramen, they have 2 types for every selection, mild and spicy, spicy could be a little harsh for some people tho. Loved everything, the experience is exactly the same than tokyo, they say "irashaimasen" when a customer enters the restaurant

Shir S

One of the better ramen places in Vancouver! The broth is very rich and creamy. Very tasty, but can be quite filling if you plan to drink it all. The boiled egg is my favourite. Limited drink selection. This is a place where you eat the ramen and get out.

pouroverlord

Ramen was not the best I had. Probably the worst I had in Vancouver, but not the worst I had ????

Evangeline Dalaya

We decided to try Marutama known for their chicken broth compared to the traditional pork broth. We ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, the chicken broth was light but flavorful and the cha shu was delicious. Service was quick and friendly. Definitely a must try!

Adarsh Girish

Really like the chicken base they use for their ramen. Service is good and you get your food quite quick. Usually there is a wait during weekends but its really not too bad.

Mark Rabe

Don't be intimidated by the wait outside, add your name to the list and after a short wait you'll be in. Very efficient at seating (even with kids), quick service and quick for food to hit the table! But that doesn't mean quality of food isn't there. Quite the opposite! Ramen was great and to our order (we prefer and asked for softer noodles) everything was delicious! Eggs were perfect, broth was flavourful and the charsiu was on point! Would definitely visit again!

Angel Armamento

Not a fan of cream based broth. But the Tamago Ramen won my heart. I’ve always associated creamy broth as being thick and rich. Was I ever wrong when this dish came out. A very light creamy chicken broth that’s packed full of flavour. The marinated egg is your traditional Japanese style. A very soft and a little runny yolk inside. The food came out really fast. The friendly staff was very attentive in keeps our water glass full. All safety protocols were in place. QR code for the menu. Contactless payment. Servers all wearing mask.

Bunny Smoth

Love the slim noodles and broth, not salty but deep. Good combination! Service is great! ????

Jose Diaz

I come here for ramen the most of time because it is close to my work. it is good and service ice good

Julie L

Good ramen, broth was very rich and a bit greasy but overall, noodles were delicious and I intend to come back.

Fayaz Manji

Marutama has ruined ramen for me. Not only I’m addicted to their spicy chicken broth but I also can’t find another ramen place that is as good as them. I wish I could give them 20 stars. The service is always the friendliest!

Em C

The best ramen in Vancouver

Stéphanie Garon

If I was given the choice to eat at one place for the rest of my life. I would gladly accept that if I could eat here (or any other Marutama food establishment). Best chicken broth in the Lower mainland. There may be a lineup sometimes but it moves quickly as the servers are very efficient. Always friendly and fast service. Two thumbs up.

Mario DiSalvo

Get the spicy tamago ramen! It’s the perfect chicken soup with a kick.

Jeremy Speller

My favourite ramen I have ever had! I come here regularly and pick it over any other ramen place in Vancouver. I always feel so welcomed here as the service is extra polite and attentive. The ramen is rich with tender pork and soy egg.

Leira Zamfirescu

Always crowded. The food is good. Having some snacks with friends.

Howard Brass

Amazingly nutty ramen and quick service.

Saman Saadat

Awesome ramen place. Theres always a line up. Too good!

Eti Khang

The one further down Robson had a huge lineup , but this one was practically empty! And great food and service. I wish for more vegetarian options though.

Lai S

Broth is ok, chashu was very flavourful and tender. $14.75 is a bit pricy for ramen but it was very filling.

Khalid A

Ouch, had to downgrade them, they went from being my favorite Ramen spot in the city, to just above average, they have changed their recipe for the broth and it while it still tastes great it doesn't have the punch it used to. Please bring back to the old broth, it seems you might be adding cream to this now which dilutes and numbs the flavor

Shawn S

The food was quick and amazing and the service was excellent.

Karl Hansen

Best ramen in Vancouver! I lovely environment since every staffs are so friendly. Also, love their soup as well. THE BEST!!!! Everyone should try!

Marcus Engstrom

The ramen broth is flavorful with a nice set of toppings. There isnt much variety but whatever is on the menu is pretty darn good.

Shreyasi Das

I've been to other Ramen places and they were good, but costly. Marutama was good and affordable!

Lucile B.

Some of the best ramen I've ever had

Katty

No substitute from chashu to veggie but chicken soup base is really good

Austin Sullivan

BUSSIN respectfully. Chicken broth is not too heavy and tastes amazing. Good prices. Great service.

Chris Papp

Great eat in central Burnaby near Metrotown. Be prepared for lineups though. This is a chain from their original location in downtown Robson st. Very fresh ingredients and always a delight to have decent hot warm soup on a cold rainy day in Vancouver.

Iris Xiao

Great place for quick tasty ramen. The bowl is not as large as other ramen places but they do fill it up with quite alot of stuff. The Char Shu was soft and cooked perfectly. Very good! The egg was soft and cooked perfect. Very fast service that you expect in Ramen restaurant. We also had the Gyoza which tasted very fresh, especially with the chilli oil. I will go back for sure.

Allan Xiao 肖

This place specialises in chicken broth which traditionally I wouldn't be into because pig is best meat but it's surprisingly good! I would go back.

Lorraine Lam

so i don’t like chicken broth ramen but gave this a shot. flavourful broth! all the ingredients tasted well together. the chashu was very tasty: thinly sliced and perfectly cooked, and not super fatty. the egg yolk is a bit runnier than i’d like but tasty. i enjoyed the seaweed that they have in the dish! i wish they had the option of having thick noodles. staff are super friendly and professional. quick service!

Ableadam Gon

Cheap and cheerful is the name of the game here. I had pretty high expectations given the write ups and reviews I'd read. The meal was fine but not exceptional. The broth is nice and rich, but the choice of thin noodles didn't quite have the bite and mouth feel I'd hoped for. The chasu was fine, but cold and had to be dipped into the soup to warm. I've certainly had better in other Canadian cities.

Wes Wu

My favorite place to grab ramen!

Clayton Hofer

taste was good. but flavor is not rich enough. by the way nood was perfact and high quality

Allen Tseng

Gone downhill. Most recent visit I had the non-spicy broth, and either the spice was hiding a lot, or things have gone downhill. The broth was tasteless. The noodles were overcooked. The chashu pork was not good. Just a miss, miss, miss. Not sure what happened. Used to swear by this place. The egg was perfect, at least.

Adrian M

Really enjoy their signature dish tamago ramen. It’s less heavy than normal Japanese ramen. The portion is perfect too. Staff very friendly. I’d definitely visit again.

Jason Choi

Loved it, super welcoming staff, food was very delicious!

Daniel Isola

My favourite place as well as Aquaman's! The pork is tender and more plentiful than Yah-Yah-Yah's, and the soft boiled egg was more flavourful, and the gyoza was crispier and fresher! I have a new favourite ramen restaurant. Highly recommended! Check it out and it'll be your favourite soon!

Olivia Lee

Tasty, healthy, and best ever customer service. There is a staff that used to have blue hair highlights who is amazing, she always caring and smiling. Totally worth and recommended!

Michael Gershman

Great broth and noodles. Chashu is not as good as some other places in the city.

Nathan Serolf

Ramen is one of my comfort foods, and there is no better bowl in all of BC than right here!

Chance Tat

Great, tasty noodlers but can't beat Santouka - Toroniky shiu

Kin Leong

Delicious and hot meal which came quick. The food here is very good and reasonably priced for downtown. The vegetarian ramen was also very good. Definitely a great place for some noodles.

Iola Lin

My boyfriend and I went there for dinner in a snowy day. The broth and chashu were very rich but lack of seasoning, the highlight was the egg. I don’t understand why people always line up in front of this reman places when there are tons of them out there are better than this.

Sylvia Yu

Chicken broth is so good. But they don't have options other then pork ramen. No rice or fried chicken or anything else. Good for pork ramen only

Gloria Castillo

Super creamy chicken broth is such a nice change from the usual pork. They manage to keep the price very reasonable still and portion fills me up even more other places. They serve thin noodles. I personally always prefer thick so the only thing I wish they had was a choice for noodle thickness.

ANewPaul

Visited 3 times during 7-day trip in Vancouver. That’s how delicious this place was. I couldn’t pass by even with my filled tummy. Absolutely deserves five stars.

Joseph Solinap

Love this location for a comforting and delicious bowl of ramen

Gideon Teodoro (Stalker DoBAEki)

Marutama is amazing! Affordable, amazing traditional ramen run by real Japanese people

Paige Eastman

Its just an okay ramen. Not my favorit. Our table was rocking crazy need to use like 5 pieces of folded tissue to make it even.

Bernard Higham

Some of the best ramen I’ve ever had!

Kevin L

Definitely one of my favorite places to satisfy my ramen cravings. Their broth has a very balanced flavor that appeals to many types of palates. One of my favorite things about Marutama is their SOFT BOILED EGGS, they're so delicious, especially if you're an egg lover. Busy during Lunch and Dinner but that's to be expected of a delicious place likes this. Been here at least 50 times so far ????????

Jesse Prupas

Service

Celine Ling

Simple, but very tasty! Best lamen that I had so far in Vancouver

Goh Mama

Oh yes! Flavours...textures and inviting for the eyes...Delicious!

Keenan Moon

My favorite ramen place in Vancouver. Really good ramen, affordable and they have fried garlic chips on the table

Lauren

Great ramen place in town!

Tomas Williams

Ordered vegetable ramen with veggie broth, for vegetarian, ramen came with hardly any soup, but the staffs refused to provide additional veggie broth even when we were willing to pay...

Erick Mulyadi

Wow wow wow. Did you know they make their own ramen noodles? Every ramen shop makes their own broth, that's to be expected. I really appreciate when a ramen shop makes their own noodles. The broth and the noodles come together to make the best bowl of ramen I've ever had on this continent. One bowl is super filling but the yumminess just leaves you wanting more. I will definitely come back in the future and also tell my friends to come here while in Vancouver!

Andrew Agno

Great spot for ramen for downtown folks near the downtown core. My favorite ramen is the Tamago Ramen. One thing that is unique is that they don't accept cash? Yeah no cash just credit or debit.

Rita Odey

Consistently delicious!! I used to come here all the time when I worked downtown. There is always a line, so its best to come when the place has just opened (11:30AM) or during off-peak hours. Service is always attentive and super fast.

jasper de bie

Excelent place to eat ramen. The Only Bad detail is the restaurant not admit payments in cash... Only credit and debit card.

Elaine Quek

I often take my friends to this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The dishes they serve are yummy and the stuff is attentive and cooperative. Whenever we eat in this place we enjoy a delightful time. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Nicholas Lee

Not bad. The prices are decent for what you get. What I don't like about this place is the seating arrangements. They seem to want to only seat single people at the communal table or bar. It's not uncommon for two seat tables to sit vacant while single customers are left standing outside as they seem to want to hold the two seat table open just in case a couple happens to show up.

Yosh Kasahara

Love this place. My favourite ramen in town.Fresh , clean and broth is the point. Nice service as well ????

Calista

Great ramen at a fair price. Friendly staff. Very busy though so be prepared to wait a little while.

Francesc Vilariño Güell

This place is definitely one my favourites. They use chicken broth instead of pork so perhaps a little different from your typical ramen joint. It is more viscous than your usual ramen broth but equally delicious. I can understand how that may throw some people off though. Their tamago is to die for and even have a veggie option if you're not in the mood for chasu (it's still with chicken broth, though). They only have the skinnier type of noodle and their portions look small - perhaps their bowls are smaller but make no mistake, it definitely fills you up easily. Food is always so satisfyingly hot and everything is always consistent. I would try to come before or after the lunch rush as there could be a line up! Service is prompt and professional. Note, that they don't take cash so bring credit or debit!

Enoch Cheung

Good ramen and decent pricing! I personally don't like super oily foods and some of the other ramen places I've been to were a little too oily for me. This was perfect! Servers are friendly as well!

William T

Probably my favourite ramen place in Vancouver. Service is always quick and the ramen is always delicious. Only problem is sometimes you hve to wait for seating but it is totally worth it!

Carlos Pan

As a vegetarian, this is not my favorite ramen place. The vegetarian option is okay, the broth is okay, the noodles are okay, the toppings were meh, and the taste was okay too. I might be spoiled by other ramen places that offer more options and better sides.

Irene A

It was okay in general. Depending on your preference, this could be your favorite style of ramen. Would recommend to at least give it a try

Bethany Baja

The reviews says it all, this is a must try ramen restaurant and this is very true! The broth is very light and tasty (chicken based broth) I ordered the Tamago Ramen and I think personally that is just the best pick! The employees are so kind and sweet, the place is kinda small so this place can easily be crowded. I arrived there around 5PM on a Wednesday and there were enough table so I didn't have to wait at all. Enjoy ~ :D !!!!

Jaein Y

Best place to get ????. I always come with my friends, here. Chicken broth is so rich and smooth. Highly recommended for someone looking for quality food + nice atmosphere + very friendly/ professional staff.

Raelene

I had the tamago ramen and enjoyed it. Marutama has really good "everyday ramen". It's not fancy with all kinds of additional ingredients like garlic chips, ground sesame, or extra rich broth (other menu items sounded similar). However, each table has garlic chips and spicy sprinkle and the ramen stands well on its own. The noodles are thin, but nice and chewy. The broth was tasty enough to drink it all up. The equivalent ramen at Jinya is bad - soft noodles and bland broth, but Jinya has some fancier options and thick noodle option to make it a good alternative. Wait time on a workday lunch was short, but this place is quite busy and you'll have a hard time getting a big group in.

archenok

Broth is rich and creamy and so delicious ???? must try the tamago! The restaurant is very on top of Covid rules and distancing ????????

Rhys Herd

One of the best soups in town, service usually quick and friendly

A Y

Very rich and delicious ramen in town.

Michaela Guilas

Great service, and fast turn out. The broth was delicious - just the right amount of saltiness and creaminess. The egg was just divine - perfectly cooked. The meat was soft and tender. Overall an excellent ramen experience. Really hits the spot on a cold day.

Lost In Translation

Marutama is one of my favorite ramen restaurants in Vancouver. Long lines but it moved quite swiftly. Tasted a tad less salty than the Bidwell location, which was unexpected but fine. I wonder if this location is busier than the Bidwell one. Value is good. Egg is good. Meat is good. Ramen is good!

viet nguyen

Great food and service.

Natalia Blandón

My go to place for ramen. Satisfies my craving. And their locations are equally as good!! Not counting the gaiden one

Alondra Alouette

Very quick and friendly service. Food was above average, would go again.

Jimmy Wong

This place is so good! I went with friends and they got the spicy chicken broth. I jut got the Cha-Shu Gohan and it was so good! Definitely going back. I believe they don’t accept cash. It’s quite affordable.

Sophie Pratt

Came just to take a break from doing stuff in the library, and turned out to be one of the restful and peaceful break I have ever taken. Food was mouthwatering, maybe just not warm enough. The pork was not cooked with the broth I guess, but it still gave a wonderful taste. Service was remarkably fast!

Max Connors

Aka ramen tasted really good!

Martin Gagnon

We arrived right when they opened and I'm glad we did! This place fills up quickly and for good reason. Great flavors, fast service. My husband especially enjoyed the spice level!

I Jaye Sunsurn

Great ramen place, great service and food.

Isabella C.

I go here sometimes twice a week. I've tried so many other ramen shops in vancouver and they just don't compare!

Esther

My favourite ramen place in all of Vancouver! I usually find ramen way too salty for my taste, but the creamy chicken broth at Marutama is perfectly balanced and delicious. It’s so good that I go at least once a week. I usually request the broth to be spicy and add on a side of fresh lemon juice which brings out all the flavours even more. I usually either get the tan-men (comes with veggies) or the cha-shu tamago (pork and egg) depending on my mood! Service is always friendly and very efficient - I can usually dine in and out within 30 minutes which makes it good if you’re on a lunch break!

Jess Jung

Had their Tan-men noodles recently when I really needed a pick-me-up. My wife and I have many happy pre-pandemic memories of this place, and it will always have a special place in my heart. ????????????

Fabiano PS

Probably my fav ramen joint downtown! Quick, good price and tasty! The staff are nice and the broth is great!

Alex Razon

This is my first time coming here. I ordered the chashu tamago ramen. The egg is very tasty! Soup is light on the stomach and creamy at the same time. I loved it. They are very generous with the chashu slices as well. The presentation of the bowl looked like something I would see in a ghibli film. Service is great as well! Staff are very friendly and attentive. Overall, a great experience! Dedinitely worth a try.

Rohit Gopal

Good price but the chasu pieces are small and flavor is quite mild compared to other ramen places. Flavor itself is good but wish it was stronger.

Rachel Windsor

The best ramen ever, turned into a regular meal. Super nice and polite staff, make sure to try pork belly ????

Kevin LVN

Hands down the best ramen in Vancouver. The broth is creamy and delicious. And the staff is always super kind and welcoming.

W

I am quite surprised with the quality of this ramen store ! The soup is flavorful and the cha sui is so tender ! I will be back anyway !

Jennie Yan

The chicken broth here is creamy, flavorful and not too salty! The meat was very tender and flavorful as well. I must say that out of all the ramen places I visited, marutama ramen really stands out as it is quite flavorful and not overloaded with salt!

Anthony Letran

Awesome place for great ramen. Highly recommend adding some garlic chips, provided on the table as condiments, to your ramen. Makes the world's difference.

Sunshine Everyday

Good service and efficient. Didn’t wait long to get food after placing order. We tried Asa ramen, Aosa ramen and gyoza. All super yummy. Aosa seaweed was our favorite and it’s not common in other ramen shops. Highly recommend to try it out. The mild chicken broth in Aosa ramen was refreshing, while the nutty Asa soup broth has a unique taste which I love. We also like their thin ramen and the complimentary garlic flakes, chili powder and sesame.

Terence & Frances

Would’ve been a 5-star if there are more options on the menu. Otherwise, ramen is great! My husband and I loved it.

Adam Chano

The staff is kind and lovely, the food is also very good

JP Velasco

Really love the chicken-based broth. Broth is not as salty as other Ramen places. Price is really affordable, very good value for money. Service is fast and friendly. This place gets busy really fast. To avoid lineups come early before noon, or mid afternoon.

Patch3y

The ramen was really good and I had the best pork I ever had in town.

Moniza Masud

Decent ramen, my soft boiled egg was not so soft boiled but the service was fast and nice. Other than that the noodles themselves while it's nice they give options of hardness, lack something versus Ramen Danbo which I recommend more.

Michael Tran

This is my favourite place for Ramen in Vancouver. I'm always impressed at the quality and how fast the service is. Top quality

Mahsa Aghajani

Just want to be honest and fair as always: I would leave a 3-star for the first couple bites, but coming home after finish it, I felt very sick and oily. I went in for its high ratings, but realized that I actually visited their other locations and never liked it. However, since I already sat down, I decided to give it yet another try, with hope to find out why I didn’t like a place with such high ratings. This is what I (re-)discovered: 1. Ramen: They do have rich and thick broth for those who loves heavier tastes, but their noodles are very very thin, soft, and soggy. It always tastes like overcooked, at least to my personal experience with ramens all around world, plus personal preference, of course. 2. Service: Not sure why they are always soooo passionate about forcing people out, even when they are not busy! I am usually a faster eater, compare to average, and all these times I was in this restaurant, I was alone, so I wasn’t the type who sit there chatting endlessly with friends or anything. However, I got asked twice, this visit alone, can they take my bowl, when I’m not even close to finish!!! When i got way too annoyed by such vibe and felt the pressure, I had no mood to “enjoy” anymore but just had to finish the food. Having the pressure they may come and ask again which may irritate me more. When decided to leave ASAP (but just having the thought, not even telling any servers yet), they stuck the bill and the post machine (yes, all together without even asking!!!) in my face in a lightning speed, which Ieft me no time to even find where my wallet is!!! I had to quickly reaching out everywhere finding my wallet with such pressure that the pos machine will time out soon!!!!! The weirdest part is, it was 9 pm, they were not even busy, There were a plenty of seats right in front of me! I really don’t understand WHAT IS THE RUSH!!!! Absolutely awful experience!!! Will never visit again, neither for the food nor the service.

Henry Bang

Everything was good. However, they always got a huge line waiting.

Connie Jones

The soup was bland unfortunately. The reviews gave it too much of a hype Nothing looked like in the pictures and service very poor

martin wan

Horrible service. Three of us walked in around 3 pm and a guy with glasses told us there were no tables at the moment therefore we had to wait, but the guy kept telling to go sit outside and it was 2 degrees and pouring out. We tried to tell him it was too cold out but he insists to keep customers outside the restaurant. ????????‍♂️

Momo

I would come and eat ramen there daily if I could. Best ramen I have had in Vancouver as of yet.

Gabriel Bauman

great Ramen and service ????????

Rico Cheung

So so

Frank Lin

Hands down best ramen place in Vancouver. I read that it’s the only one that makes their own noodles fresh. The ramen eggs also beat the other places - I often get two because they are so delicious. Or three! Their spicy tan-men is my favourite.

Tiffany Huey

Simple and delicious. Theres like, 8 soups to choose from. Broth is rich and flavorful. The egg was so tasty. Will be back.

The Simmering Pot

Normally there is a wait time, but they are very efficient and quick with orders! Seats are openable and you can store purses and jackets there without needing to worry about it.

Hermine Chan

Honestly the ramen is delicious. The broth had a creamy texture and noodles were well made. Service was pleasant but the seating is a little cramped. At times they are very busy and once forgot my order, as it came very late. It was ok though...the chef gave me my gyoza for free. I believe they were the first to start with the no cash concept in downtown Vancouver. So be sure to have a debit or credit card with you. Overall the place was great, with great ramen and tasty egg omelet!

Wesley Robb

I used to think all ramen was kind of the same, but this place taught me I was wrong. Don’t let the live out front scare you, it goes fast and it’s worth the wait!

Ricky Weston

Delicious food. Wait was short even though there were 4 other groups in line in front of us

Donya Arani

Couldnt ask for better ramen. The environment is perfect for first dates and any other occasion. Great if your looking for something different than the up tight dining experience of most restaraunts, but with the same quality. Seating works on a first come basis through signing your name on a sheet. Wait times never are long, either to be seated or served. Prices are reasonable

Nam Pham

A decent ramen place that doesn't really differentiate itself from the many other ramen places around. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for 3, which seemed a little long for a Wednesday night.

kawaii hatchiko

I'm so happy this place does not add MSG to their food! The broth is very rich and creamy. Interesting set up with the cafeteria style seating and multipurpose wooden boxes you use as a chair and storage unit. There are pitchers of water on the community tables and condiments with toasted sesame seeds, drop fried garlic, and some hot chili powder. They are lacking a place to hang your rain coat or winter jacket. I did like that they had high chairs and little bowls, small utensils, and cups with straws foot children. Great spot for warm soup and ramen!

ryan buingo

Delicious chicken soup based ramen and excellent customer service!

Daria K

I don't understand why some ramen shops dump ridiculous amounts of salt into their soup. Marutama's broth is excellent and I didn't die of thirst afterwards, so huge plus. Came by after Whitecaps at the stadium. Delicious. Mom said the broth tastes like there's some added bean powder to get it's mysterious texture... so that's interesting. No wait for seating, and staff were very attentive. Will visit again in the future when in the area.

Sergio Eduardo Peregrina

Decent spicy ramen. I enjoyed the egg and broth. Initial price of the ramen was a bit high but when you start adding stuff the price easily can edge towards $20.

Wendy H

I had the vegetarian tanmen. It was nice but... Could have made this myself at home.

Joshua Tiong

Tasty ramen with rich chicken soup. The yaki-chasiu is to die for - so flavourful and nicely charred. We brought the kids (one toddler) and they provided the utensils as well as a pair of scissors (for cutting the noodles into small pieces), even without us asking! Such great service!

David

I prefer this location over their West End one. They are quick to give you seats unlike the West End one where there were clearly seats but they still asked me to go outside and wait for a bit. They also have gyoza which the West End location doesn't serve. Interestingly, I found the Aka Ramen is not as spicy as the "spicy" Tori-Paitan Ramen. I also found myself with enough soup left over for kaedama, which I usually don't with the regular one.

Rahim Shivji

My favorite Ramen place. Always great food and great staff.

Dirga Agoes

Chashu Tamago Ramen ($16) was flavorful. Chashu portions were generous but came a little cold. Von really enjoyed the broth and its creaminess. Ajitama egg ($2) served as a whole piece and a little cold - a good medium boil that's fairly marinated. Gyoza ($6) was a hit. Customer service is very hospitable and accommodating. There are also space for coats and bags under the seat stools.

Adam Hutt

Good place to eat ramen in Vancouver. While the other Marutama down at Bidwell is better, this place still holds its own in a city packed with ramen joints. Best thing was the egg specialty. EDIT: After coming to this place multiple times over the last two weeks, I can conclude that the Central Library Marutama is on par with the Bidwell location. Original and Cha-shu ramen bowls recommended, as well as the tamago bowl if you like eggs.

Angela An

Great food with a tasty non-pork ramen option!

Sophia Lee

Super tasty ramen, my fav one. I go at least 3 times a week to enjoy it!! Japanese staff super friendly and pro!

Alphonse _ dizon

This was my first try on japanese ramen and is still my benchmark for other ramen

Brian Yang

Crazy good ramen.

Anna Haus

Marutama is definitely the best ramen I've had in Vancouver. Have been eating here at least once a week for months now.

Julie Panganiban

Delicious tamago ramen as always. The restaurant did a great job at separating tables and abiding by covid protocols. There was a line waiting outside when we were sitting for lunch around 12:30-1pm. They did well serving us and making the food.

Anthony

Worth the wait. Staff is very attentive. Each topping was well executed. Noodles were nice and hot

Jay Maity

Best ramen I have ever had!

Taha Alawadhi

I can see how this chain keeps growing with more new locations. The broth in Marutama's ramens is what makes it stand out from tons of ramen joint around the Metro Vancouver area. Most of the times Robson location is bustling, and you might have to wait to be seated, but it absolutely worth it. After trying a few different options, I can say that my absolute favorite is Cha-Shu Tamago Ramen. Its broth reminds me of shurpa (sorpa) soup that is very popular in Central Asia. If you feel like many ramen joints around town have a similar taste then try Marutama, they are undoubtedly different.

Tom Bertino, Jr

Very delicious ramen. Marutama has the best noodles, eggs, and seaweed in the ramen game.

Daniel Politeski

Pretty much the same as the original place. The only thing is that I feel like the soup was not as rich.

Irene Forget

One of my favorite ramen places to visit when I visit Vancouver. The silky smooth and rich tasting chicken broth is simply amazing. A must try if you want some delish ramen!

Gingster Vidwerks

Delicious with incredible service and great value

Eugene Yu

Very good and authentic ramen at the very beginning of Robson Street. While the prices are a bit on the high side, the quality is top notch. The place itself is nicely decorated and the staff are warm and welcoming. Definitively give it a try if you're in the area.

Chris Sim

Good ramen. Wait times were not too long to get in. Service was quick and polite. Would recommend.

John Tino

This was my last Ramen to close out the year. Wela’lioq, thank you all ????

Alex Jahangard

There is usually a wait during regular dinner hours, but if you go later in the evening there isn't a line. We had the chasu and tamago ramen as well as the gyoza. The chicken based broth is rich and flavourful and the texture of the noodles are made to order. I love that you can add as much fried garlic chips as you like. The gyoza was delicious, thin skin with the crispy pan fried bottom. The only thing was that it was a bit on the greasy side.

ERIC LEE

Delicious delicious delicious! So far one of my favourite ramen places! Good chicken based brother and lean meat.

Linda Zhao

chicken based broth, good quality ramen, NOT over priced like most places!!!!!, clean atmosphere, polite service, gets super busy at lunch

Jonathan Cui

The best ramen in town! Delicious broth and pork :)

Daniel N

My go to place for ramen! Not sure why but I find this location better than the one off of Robson St!

Alden Salgado

One of the best ramen restaurants , recommended by a Japanese receptionist in the hotel I was staying at. The broth is just right, tasty and not salty, make sure you order a soft boiled egg if it doesn’t come with whatever noodles you are ordering.

Toby L.

I have been to many ramen restaurants and this place takes the top spot by far. The broth was rich, savoury, flavourful, and not too salty. The noodles were not too soft and the perfect chew. I got it spicy and it was a perfect amount of heat while still being able to taste the flavours of the broth. I usually don’t like to drink all of the broth when I get ramen but this time I finished all I could. The prices are very reasonable considering how delicious the food is and a sizeable portion. The servers were very kind and attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Tony Han

Service consistently great and food is always good. At first I didn't really like the soup base considering its quite different than your typical pork based broth, but over time I started liking it. Now, I think I like their ramen more than any other ramen around the city. Do make sure to try their gyozas, it's good!

Ella Lim

Lovely vegetarian options

Vivian L

From all ramen options in Vancouver, marutama finds the sweet spot between price and taste. One of my favourite food places, it has a single option of ramen, with a few options for customization. Because of this, they can make a masterpiece, the best ramen that I ever tried kn the city. Everyone should definitely try and be amazed.

tina tag

Its our first time here and had a very good time! Staffs are very friendly and service was amazing. They are very mindful of your needs and very attentive. Price is reasonable and the serving is quite generous! Lots of meat! The char siu side dish is a must try! Couple of things: we find the broth needs more savoury kick in it and the ramen eggs are a bit bland hence the 4 stars.

Denise Bolukbas

Good broth but not authentic because I think they added milk in their broth but overall it good and the service is good. Sometimes its not about the food its the experience and feeling that you have when leaving the place.

Libby Hsiao

The best Ramen in the city IMO. Great service too. The chicken broth is so creamy and don’t miss adding some garlic chips and sesame seeds at the table.

Tommy

Good ramen. All their broths are made of chicken. They don’t serve chicken chashu though. They serve dried garlic and sesame seeds on the side for extra topping as well. Tried their aka ramen which was nice and tasty.

Alejandro Dizon

Best Ramen I've ever had. Would definitely go again.

yiwen chen

I’ve heard a lot of people say this is their personal favourite ramen place. They especially mention that it has the best eggs. I ordered the Shoyu Ramen with an egg. While it isn’t the best ramen I’ve had, the soup has good flavour and they added a lot of noodles. The noodles are shaped like one of those grocery store ramen noodles which kind of tripped me out. Egg is very good. Practically fell into a coma after eating half. Staff is friendly.

Jamie Lee

This is my favourite ramen place in Vancouver! It can get really busy and may have to wait in line but totally worth it!

Jennifer Silk

The food was very good and the staff was wonderful. The menu of the chain is quite limited though.

Jim Fong

This is my husband's favourite Ramen place. Perfectly seasoned broth. Perfect marinated egg. Great noodles. We have had ramen at over 2 dozen places and this is the best.

PraetorianNUKE

Delicious ramen, broth is flavourful and the noodles are amazing.

Vivian Chung

Not a regular Ramen eater and was very impressed. I asked for recommendations and the waitor gave me a breakdown on what Ramen is all about. Garlic chips are a must. Very nice touch. Meal was sidelined by a person complaining about not taking cash. The guy was demanding the name of the owner so that his lawyer could contact him. Turned into a scene which detracted from the overall experience.

Mollie Johnson

I had a superb time in this place. We liked the first-rate ambience and the food. The staff were very affable. I am content we eventually managed to visit here.

Cheyenne K

Excellent ramen! Unique creamy chicken broth is so good. Special seaweed holds so much flavour!

Tom

I went here based on recommendations but was really disappointed with the ramen. I got the veggie ramen (they only had one veggie option) and the broth wasn't flavourful at all, tasted pretty bland and the noodles were soggy and overcooked. Perhaps their non-vegetarian options are better but I definitely would not come back.

Alex Gedala

Solid ramen place. Definitely one of the best in Vancouver. Can be quite busy for lunch which is when I would usually come. But definitely worth the wait. They have another location downtown too, not sure how busy it is. But I highly recommend giving this place a shot if you like ramen.

Kevin Gill

The broth is perfect. Very savoury, flowing with rich flavours of egg and chicken oil while remaining balanced and clean without bubbles of fat floating at the surface. Noodles are excellent. A fairly hearty chew with a faint sweetness that allows the soup to be the star. Also the perfect soft boiled marinated egg every single time. Chashu gohan is done in a korean style and it's very cheap. Prices overall are below average. Space is clean and bright and service is excellent. Broth: 10 Noodle: 9 Experience: 9.5 Value: 9

Kenny T

Really rich broth. I'm usually not a big fan of ramen, but this place has become one of my favorite restaurant.

Peter Pi

Best ramen in Vancouver, simple menu, fast service, noodles cooked to perfection

Andrew Tan

This is probably my favourite place to get ramen! I can’t believe how much flavour and depth they got into the broth from chicken. It is more subtle than regular ramen broth in terms of saltiness and richness, but this is exactly why I love it so much. It’s pretty affordable for a bowl that’s going to give you a warm hug on a cold day! Just be aware that they only take card as a form of payment (no cash).

Jupeth Bautista

Delicious ramen, they have these awesome garlic chips that you can add to your soup. Busy place, but friendly staff.

David Y (Yipper)

DELICIOUS ramens!!! Great taste.

Tess T

Very very Disappointed!!!! The portion is unbelievably small for online takeout. This is the first time I ordered takeout from this location. Everything was downsized. The pork the seaweed and the soup too. 2 very thin slides of porks...is that a joke????????????? unbelievable thin... it needs technique to cut this thin... And the soup tastes funny too. Not that rich any more and very salty. I rather cook instant noodle by myself. What a joke!

Harman Chahal

Hands down the best ramen experience in Vancouver, no doubt about it. The chicken broth is so creamy yet light at the same time, and the chasu is perfectly thin and melts in your mouth. On top if this the service is immaculate, my water was filled without me even asking and all staff are really friendly. This place is a must.

Sebastián Figueroa

The broth and pork are absolutely delicious. Spicy maybe too spicy for some.

Tom W

Love the ramen here!

Jason

Ramen is okay. Nothing special. Staff will rushed you to go out of their restaurant to accomodate other customers. They want you to eat your food in 10 mins and under.

Alejandro Muñoz

Attentive service, delicious authentic ramen

Winnie Leung

A delicious bowl of ramen here. Went around 3 pm was seated right away. First time having ramen with a chicken-based broth, great taste but still, prefer pork-based broth. No cash accepted here they only take card.

Robin Soon

not much choices. I love the beer and Cha-Shu tomago Ramen.

Yang Y

Massive slices of pork, delicious creamy chicken broth, and thin house-made noodles. I ordered the cha-shu ramen and the flavor is fantastic. I just wish my egg was more soft boiled as it seemed it was on the verge of being hard boiled. I also ordered a plate of gyozas and it was absolutely delicious. Well seasoned filling and it was perfectly pan-seared. Service was fast and efficient as well. A little bit on the pricier side but it’s worth the experience.

T.

Excellent ramen with a super flavourful broth and perfectly cooked noodles. There is so much rich and creamy chicken flavour packed into the soup. Even in the shoyu ramen which had strong flavours of bonito, the soup was balanced and you could taste all the elements. You can get a noodle refill for $1.75 and it's quite a large portion of extra noodles. The chashu and egg was cooked perfectly. They also give some seasoning on the side (sesame, chili powder, fried garlic chips) which is a nice touch to change up your ramen subtly. The service was attentive and outstanding.

Antonio Vidal

The place is delicious, I think the best in Vancouver downtown. The pork belly is so so that why I put 4 star.

Chris Barnwell

My favorite ramen shop with chicken soup base. Visit regularly.

Arturo Wu

Amazing ramen, the menu is just a variation on the same kind of broth and noodles but it's really good. The eggs are the best.

Laurent Saplairoles

The best Ramen I've had in Vancouver. Better than Gojiro and Jinya

Chung L

I can’t understand why this place has high ratings. Broth has no taste and pork belly was too fat and thin. Their spicy sauce is same quality as some cheap store. Popular ramen restaurant should have some original sauce, otherwise you’re same as every other ramen place in Vancouver. Even gyoza was bad. Staff was good.

Thierry Cattouf

For those on a plant-based diet : this place lacks options. At least fending off the fruit flies will distract you from the blandness of your veggie ramen.

Jonathan Wan

Excellent rich chicken broth. Top 5 Vancouver ramen!

Jackson Burgess

All the staff are incredibly friendly. The greeter, servers, kitchen staff all say a Japanese welcome when you arrive. This location used to be Jinya, which moved farther West on Robson. The interior looks very similar to how Jinya was before. The biggest difference is that the ramen here is chicken broth. It's less fatty than a tonkatsu broth but still very flavourful. Tamago ramen comes with a full soft-boiled egg that is marinated and cooked perfectly. Noodles are thin and slightly chewy. Plenty of noodles in the bowl. Pork does not fall apart in the soup, but lacked some flavour or marinating like Jinya does it. Maybe it's just a different style. Overall though, very good ramen.

Brian Ngan

I made an order through the internet to pick up. Everything was ready on time, the person at the reception was very smiling and courteous and they take a lot of sanitary precautions. The food was excellent.

Nathan Egg

Well done ramen. Gyosa needs more flavor. Helpful staff

Kevin

Much like its Richmond counterpart the food is good... Not much to say there. Service is fast with outdoor dining and good COVID19 procedures.

Beezer333 Beezer333

This place had a friendly atmosphere and the kitchen was also considerate for those with food allergies. The chicken soup broth was nice and creamy, and the ramen bowls had cute designs!

Pete Roberts

If you are craving for ramen, you won't be disappointed here. Their ramen is very delicious, very friendly and prompt services. Highly recommended this place!

닐정 (Neil Jeong)

The best chicken broth in town. Pro-tip: Add some toasted garlic chips to make it complete.

One of the best ramen I've tried. Definitely worth the long wait.

Chia Ching Wang

The gyoza was mediocre. The ramen was fantastic. I came around noon on a sunday and there was a short line. Waited about 5 minutes and got a table for one.

Jeemin Sings

Excellent service, great Ramen. We go here about every week and we're still very happy with the whole experience

Zen Xiao

Best ramen broth I ever had. The place is nice.

Zo Wade

Hands down best ramen I've ever eaten. The creamy chicken broth mixed with tender pork and soft boiled egg. Omg. Eat here.

Alex Novadnieks

Wonderful ramen with friendly attentive staff

Piolo Adlawan

I have had their ramen twice but neither of them really impressed me. It could be just my preference but I thought the soup was definitely flavourless, too oily and not salty enough. Roasted pork had a bad smell. Noodles are overcooked and not chewy enough. Both times I got a stomachache as the soup is too oily though it tastes very bland. I never have this bad quality of ramen in my country. You could say it's kind of rich flavour, that's a positive way to say it. In a way it's just unnecessarily oily and lacking of the depth of flavour. To be honest this place would not survive in Japan, it's not even close to the average ramen there. However because this is in Canada, it seems very successful. It is probably "good" for ramen in Canada but it's definitely not for people that are used to the quality of ramen in Japan. At lunchtime there is a line up outside even on a weekday, so it's better to avoid busy time. The service is ok. Only debit/credit card payment is available, they don't accept cash. The place looks authentic and the staff speak Japanese as well.

Danton Nguyen

Good ramen with great friendly service.

Geoffrey K

The wait really isn’t as long as it seems. I was a little disappointed by the ramen itself. I came as a tourist for the week and everyone was raving about this place. I thought the ramen was actually a little bland, definitely needed some more flavor or spice. A quick, well priced location just not amazing.

Am I the only one that has to pencil in an entire afternoon of toilet ridden pain every time I eat here? Not to get too TMI but I'm straight up strapped to the bucket for hours on end. I'm astonished by what I've seen come out of me. Fantastic ramen though, I'll be back next week.

Jay C

Ramen is simplified with one broth, and additional toppings as different choices. You can choose firmness of noodle, and use the chairs as storage!

Rafael Mariotti

Super good noodles, chashu, egg, broth. Wanted a noodle refill but I was too full!

Judy Z

What I do like about this place is..how the presentation of the food comes to you..it's super cute..looks almost like a happy face.. Service is quick and you share an entire table with other patrons and lots of students that come to this place. I really enjoyed opening my stool and putting my jacket inside that was a cute surprise...and how super clean it is on the inside.....but, not such a fan of the pork meat and everything on the menu is pork..the egg was good and very interesting how they cooked it..but the noodles was a little on the soggy side and the soup was pretty basic and not so flavorful unless you put your own condiments and ask for the kirin flavoured salt water bottle...but I just wasn't so enthusiastic about the flavors..my boyfriend was the one who was so excited to come eat here but I suppose we have a different palette when it comes to ramen.

charlotte morrisson

Tasty ramen. Served quick. Definitely can be a wait, but once seated, in and out fast.

Tony Ouk

Relaxing ramen. And really nice ambiance. Very good broth. Accomodating service. Tamago Ramen is suggested for first timers!

Greg Taylor

We came to this place for lunch. This spot was recommended to us by a friend. Well, it was very nice. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was great. We loved this place very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Keep it up.

Natalie Talmi

No idea why the review is so high. Can’t say it’s the worst ramen I’ve ever had but not impressed at all. The soft boiled egg was still cold, broth and ramen tasted like cheap instant noodle!! Def won’t come back again!

bean

Good, flavourful ramen! I had the AKA RAMEN which is a little bit spicy and added an egg for $1.50. Broth - 5/5 Noodles - 3/5 (I prefer thick and al dente. They only offer thin noodles here.) Cha-sui - 3/5 (a bit too lean for me. Their pork belly is amazing though!) Toppings - 3/5 (wish they had more options!) We also shared a side of the gyozas and pork belly. Both were delicious and I would order them again!

Matt Kiefer

Nice ramen. Soup base is rich and not salty. Best chasu and tamago I've had in lower mainland.

Matthew Li

Great customer service and food

Z

Was there for dinner and the wait was 20 minutes for outside seating. They could improve the decor for outside dining with a simple privacy screen. Food was delicious and consistent with quality.

Jongbin Jung

In my opinion, best ramen in major Vancouver. Ramen and soup are on point - noodle tenderness is on right as well as thickness. Soup flavour is strong and thick with right amount of savoury. Pork is tender and right flavour. Egg is perfect soft boil/ Service is good / Price is decent for ramen. Our all is a well rounded ramen! 10/10 My fav. ramen place

Ben Zahiri

Not as good as the bidwell location. Environment is cold and sterile, staff lack the enthusiasm, ramen not as tasty.

Similar to santouka in my opinion. Both have broths that are creamier in nature and char shiu that was good but not great. Soft boiled egg was slightly over cooked and the noodles became soggy after a while but the flavour was there. Not worth waiting more than 10.

Anshuman Mehta

Great little ramen joint… a great combo of value and quality. Cash only, don't be put off by the waitlist, I've never had it take very long to get a seat.

Michael Cheung

Come here at least once a week, it's the best place if you are craving chicken broth ramen

John !

This place has the best broth (chicken bone broth) and noodles. I always get an egg, which is really satisfying. I only wish they would have a chicken option (not just pork chashu).

Klaiden

It's one of these top 3 ramen places in Vancouver!

Felipe Cassio

Food tastes very good. Nice soup and fried garlic. Just wished they had a option in between mild and spicy. Maybe i caught them on rush hour, but service was a litle slow and it was around 20 minutes for the ramen.

Patrick Côté

Finally got to try the last of the marutama location, ramen is consistently good for all 3, definitely should come try.

Ephraim Chavez

My favourite downtown Vancouver ramen. I love the seaweed and the eggs are very tasty. Simple but delicious.

Nicole Chacon

Less busy than the West End location. Garlic chips, seasame seeds, and five spices available as condiments. No takeout. Accepts debit, and credit cards only. No cash. Metered street parking. Across from Vancouver Public Library.

Edward Zhou

Not your typical pork broth, Marutama specializes in chicken instead. The atmosphere is alright, bright lights, some communal tables and stools. The portion in all honesty is all you need, but it stands small to the other ramen shops we've gotten used to and have grown to love. I had the spicy tamago ramen, the egg was perfect and soft and the white noodle ramen was al dente, but my friend and I were both taken aback as to how salty the broth was. It was akin to bailing into a wave from a surfboard and swallowing some ocean water. I asked for two cups of hot water to dilute the broth which was then much better. The salt crushed down to two stars.

Shae Paterson

First time at this location but one of my favourite stops when I’m in town. Love the online ordering and excellent service at any location I’ve been too! They even individually wrapped the pork on the side, as one of the bowls was for someone who couldn’t eat pork but they didn’t know if someone else wanted extra. Will definitely revisit again!

Macy Yang

The chicken base is really light compared to pork which is a nice feature to the ramen dishes

C Kan

One of my favorite spots in the city. Creamy chicken based broth is amazing. The noodles, pork and egg are all top notch. I have to get a weekly fix.

Teryn Alves

Wanted to try the chicken based broth. It's very mild compared to pork based broth, but was very tasty with lots of veggies. The service was a bit erratic, two people who came AFTER I had ordered were served before me, but the servers were very friendly.

Jenney Lin

Definitely the best Ramen I've had in Vancouver. Amazing gyoza as well!

Marutama is my favourite ramen in Vancouver. Ask for extra noodle after you finish the noodle in the soup.

Michelle Shea

Best ramen in downtown Vancouver! Super cosy little place with friendly staff. Highly recommend bringing your friends and enjoying an amazing culinary experience.

Andrew Neary

my top 1 ramen place for me so far around downtown. i compare the rest of ramen i taste to the richness of soup the softness of noodles and price. try this. theres one order there that carries all the ingredients i just forget but thats what we always get and price good

Karin Björklund

Best service in recent memory: respectful of your space, time and money. Menu is to the point and short, with variety. The house special was damn near perfect, and the portion seemed small but I had a second order of noodles for less than a soda. Gyoza was also good. I'll be hitting up this spot on a full stomach.

Martin Ciastko

Not sure what all the hype is about, the ramen was eh.

Rishi Gautam

Wonderful warm noodle dinner, love it. Unexpectedly good, 2 thumbs up

Gregorio Parra

Great place for the price, one thing I can’t stand as a returning customer every time they say no to extra eggs. Why have it on the menu? They always say we don’t have enough eggs.. To the business owner maybe buy a extra dozen eggs as they cost pennies when you charge $1.50 per extra egg.

Victor Tam

Whoa! What a great find! Thanks google maps! The broth was unbelievably rich - I have always been a devotee yo pork broth but now I am converted! The thin noodles go really well with the amazing chicken broth. You will not leave disappointed!!!

Seajun Leung

First time going to this place, always see a line up. Decided to go with some friends. Service is good. Servers are nice and attentive. Food is delicious. The bowl I chose is the chashu ramen bowl. It has lots of meat and a healthy portion of noodles and seaweed. Usually I can't finish the entire bowl of ramen at other places without feeling lethargic. This one I can though and still feel light yet content even after emptying the bowl. I would recommend trying this place out, it's worth the wait in my opinion.

Austin

Delicious ramen I tasted so far. Service is good and staff are nice. The atmosphere of the place is really cozy. ????

Chris Apps

Best ramen I have had. I like it more than kintaro or koika. Simple menu, not overkilled with ingredients and awesome taste. I was surprised at first visit with milk based ramen but I fell in love to it. Servers are kind and superfast Prices are good, similar to other ramen restaurants. I became a regular customer there

Talvinder Singh

They gave me a broken egg. I don’t mind but I like everyone to know.

Richard Skermer

Very good ramen. But a bit on the generic atypical ramen style. Does not completely stand out.

Ev Haus

I love the Ramen! the location is cozy and the hole team is friendly. It allows you to add extra noodles AND extra soup. I am gonna eat Ramen there again!

ian ng canada

Been wanting to try this place for awhile because its one of the few that serves tori paiten style ramen. It's just ok...maybe good...the problem is that once you've had ramen from Akedo Showten in Langley this place just pales in comparison. Wouldn't ever bother coming back.

Isha Jain

After spending a decent amount of time at the library, this is where you should go for a quick ramen fix. Can't go wrong with Marutuma. Their noodles are always fresh and handmade. Broth is just perfection! I prefer their Denman location though and not just cause of the interior aesthetics.

Sophie VIDAL

I like this noodle bar the best in downtown area. Staff is super friendly, all the Ramen dishes are superb, price is standard for downtown

2020lol

The best ramen I have ever had, but go with time because you have to wait to enter, go with patience.

J. Cheung

Really good ramen for the price. Really wonderful cute cozy spot, I would definitely go back. Broth and pork was really great. Portion sizes vary based on what you order, but overall, great experience.

Allie Ho

My favourite place for ramen. Their chicken broth is so flavourful and it doesn’t feel heavy or fatty. They give a fairly large portion of pork with their ramen and their eggs are always perfectly cooked. Their side of grilled pork belly is delicious. Love their noodles as well! I always recommend Marutama to my friends when they ask where they should go for ramen. There’s usually a lineup but it moves quickly. I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table.

Denis Yuriev

Compare to last time, I was a little bit desapointed... Too much seaweed and seaweed killed the taste of soup. I may try other without or less seaweed.

Hannah Beads

Only giving this four stars because of a personal preference for thicker, more al dente ramen noodles. Plus, the broth is a bit too on the creamy side for me. That being said, I know the ramen is well crafted and still delicious. The pork is yummy and can definitely tell this place has a lot of fans. Plus, the service here is always fast and attentive! Would definitely come back.

Catherine C

First time I had the ramen here, I literally almost cried, no joke. Today’s ramen had the same great taste as the first time. However, I did notice that the soft-boiled eggs are becoming more harder and cooked then when I first had them... ???? maybe a new chef? Always go straight for Zenbu Ramen, “The works.” Has everything on it and you won’t regret it, I promise! Love the service here. The people are busy as is with any type of restaurant work that is thriving, but they still greet you pleasantly and make sure you are well taken care of. One thing that I noticed that was different was that at the end of the meal, one of the servers came up and, before getting our bills for us, asked how was everything. Overall, great place to eat!

Selyn Chen

Excellent service but rating is based on mediocre ramen at this location. First time trying the chain and came to the wrong location, as this one only serves CHICKEN BROTH! Other locations serve tonkotsu and shoyu. Broth was interesting and fresh but not as tasty as I had expected.

Luke Weng

Rich and creamy broth. Broth is less salty than most ramen places.

Wheels

Good ramen place. Wait can be challenging. Good noodle and pork but broth is a little on the heavy side.

cottoncandy

Next to Vancouver Central Library. The price is reasonable. The taste is OK.

Stella Oh

I ordered the house special and it was delicious! The broth was so rich and flavourful and the noodles tasted super fresh.

Stefan Fiedler

Had an excellent meal here. The ramen noodles and chashu were cooked really well. On improvement I see would be to have the soup base more richer.

Vince T

Been three times. Best paitan I've ever had.

Bobbie Bees

Their signature Ramen is awesome. Well worth the wait time. Crowded at most times if you want to have group meal especially involving little children.

Yuan C.

Have a variety of chicken soup based ramen. Service was fast and the crew always made sure that your enjoying your food well. Upon sitting down, water is served and refilled always. Then when my ordered ramen arrived, the condiments were immediately brought to my table. Well done! Also, there are partitions per table to follow covid safety regulations.

Graham

Second branch of marutama. Quality of ramen is a bit different than the one in Robson. But if you can't tell that's okay the ramen is still delicious.

Karl Kwong

The usual Marutama ramen but with no lineup. Open concept layout and large table make for a more spacious feel compared to the Robson location.

sam e

Great ramen, highly recommend. Staff are very kind and attentive. A++

W Aly

Its ok, te food is good, I've had better. Not sure why it has such high reviews.

The creamy chicken broth ramen is to die for. The noodles are also extremely well made. This place has the best ramen ive had ever.

Dynamic Tang

This might be the only chicken broth place in town! I totally love this place!

Roy Monsanto

If you're into ramen, Marutama is a must have in Vancouver. Their birth is perfectly balanced, the noodles are just the right thickness, and their servings are consistent. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Plce is busy so expect to wait for a table but don't let the lineup scare you away. It is definitely. Worth the wait. They do not accept cash which is bizarre.

Adriana Mou

Not your traditional ramen joint. They use chicken stock and use their own noodles, much thinner and less chewie than the traditional ramen noodles. If you want decent ramen that is healthier than the traditional pork broth based places, then this is the place. Service and decor were both excellent. There will be a wait.

Danial S

Really enjoyed the broth, rich creamy and not oily fatty. Portion felt a little small though. Fast service. The chasu side dish was yummy

Ji Young Kim

Still my favorite ramen thanks in no small part to the fried garlic chip condiments. Gotta eat it with the garlic chips.

Hailey Roberts

Best Ramen I've ever had. That's all.

Demetrius S

I’ve had ramen all over Fukuoka, Osaka, Tokyo and explored many places from the lower mainland as well as LA. This ramen without a doubt sits at my top 3 and is my favourite place to come to. Don’t hesitate to come here, the food is incredible and so is the service

sakana tengoku

One of my favourite Japanese Ramen places in Vancouver. Their specialty is the seaweed.

Andrew Browne

I'm not in love with this place. There was a line up out front, which I'm starting to suspect is a design specification for Ramen restaurant. Putting your waiting area outside, definitely gives the impression of a place in high-demand. In any case, my biggest issue was the broth. For me, it lacked sufficient depth. I guess I'm more of Jinya guy. I like the ambience better. Seems more like a traditional Ramen place, whereas Jinya is a little too posh. Try it out for yourself and see what you think.

Yvonne Yin

Chicken broth ramen with house made noodles. A great little bowl of ramen

Thu Vo

Great ramen place with very fast service. The ramen is thin with very rich soup, and you have the option of making it spicy as well. Various options for different soup bases, most selections are served with chashu and egg. The seats can even open up for you to put your belongings in! All in all very delicious and comfortable!

Hiro

Loved this place and the soup was truly the best and most unique we experienced. The wait staff was so so attentive and friendly, plus had super pretty nails! The food was really great, both of our dishes

The other Marutama is my favorite ramen shop. This location is pretty good as well. Friendly staff, less wait time than the other place, delicious ramen. The only thing is that the egg is done better at the other place. It still tastes great though and I would 100% come back.

Tim Chu

Try the pork belly appetizer!

Sarah

Nice and creamy ramen. The pork fillet is to die for!

Sco b

Spicy broth was very flavorful if you enjoy spicy flavors without it being too hot. Very convenient location. If you are hungry do not forget to save your broth for kae-dama.

Y Czerski

This is my go to ramen place when I'm in Vancouver. Hands down the best chicken broth ramen I've had in Canada. The chicken broth is addictive and adding the fried garlic makes it even more better.

Raasil Khan

The ramen was pretty decent, it’s not the traditional kind as I believe Marutama has a unique recipe for their broth. Overall, atmosphere was good and the ramen is worth trying!

Emma Moreside

Best ramen in British Columbia.

Jonah Cortezzo

The ramen was so good, but it was kinda pricy.

Great ramen. Service can be slow, but can’t fault them too much. Always friendly and highly attentive.

Alexandre Rondeau

Good ramen!

Miguel Parra

Good! Nice service

Blake Huggins

Really great ramen! Love the broth. Fast and effecient service.

Ben Savage

Marutama Ra-Men offers an extremely refined and special chicken-based ramen. Despite Chicken being a less fatty animal, Marutama somehow provides a broth with richness comparable to Tonkotsu. I had the Zenbu (everything) ramen which came with char-siu, braised pork belly, tamago, aosa seaweed, green onions, and seemingly extra noodles. Every part of the bowl was spectacular. Noodles were easy to slurp and chewy, the aosa provided this delicious savory taste that went well with the green onion. The tomago had a centre like jam that was rich and full of flavor. The Char-Siu was incredible but the pork belly... that was another level. Unbelievably tender, rich slices of pork half an inch thick. Generous and filling portions made it one of the few bowls of ramen I didn't have to order extra noodles with.

Paul Rothhaar

Delicious egg. unique chicken broth. free garlic flakes

LK CC

Chick soup base ramen very good! Should put this restaurant to your bucket list!

Paul Ramirez

Good location, good food but not the most flavourful broth. One thing that I do love is the fact that seats have storage! Was able to store my winter jackets + purse and be seated comfortably. P.S., their ‘Spicy’ if you ask for spicy ramen is really spicy. Order it on the side and add accordingly

CY

All the broth is creamy chicken, no tonkotsu or even shio. It's the strangest thing.

Christophe S.N

For a chain ramen spot, this place is delectable! They are friendly and attentive and their broth is delicious. Their Zenbu ramen is the perfect amount of everything. I also recommend their pan-fried pork belly. …

Robert Yuen

This place might be a bit overrated. I hate that they serve the pork cold with the ramen.

Tatyana Slavkova

Good ramen, price is right, as it is downtown, we liked better than the other one near Seymour on Robson, Marutama is more like a Ra men shop should be, not pretentious quick, simple and tasty.

Charles Peter Villon

Very good food. Love Marutama. All the locations are great. Love it!!

ryan tsai

The ra-men here is finely crafted and tastes fantastic! The atmosphere feels authentic, and the servers are very sweet and helpful! Don’t expect a quiet intimate meal where you’re doted on - this is a kitchen experience and it’s wonderful! I had the spicy Tan-men and braised pork belly, and it was the best ra-men I’ve had yet. Was sitting by the door so I found it a little chilly with the door opening and closing so often, and I didn’t receive a tea that I ordered - but not a big deal. I didn’t press for it very hard, and the meal and gentle nature of the servers made up for it!

buset2

Always consistently good across all their stores. The Aka ramen with an egg added is my go to.

Miranda May

Marutama has always been my favourite ramen in Vancouver. But I just wanted to add that the service I just had was also excellent. Even though restaurants are just beginning to open up again, Marutama on Robson seems to have everything figured out already. Servers were so nice, everything was so efficient and clean, and the food was as good as it’s always been.

D K

I got the tamago ramen. It was enjoyable. The broth has a subtle taste to it. It was fine. I didn't like the noodles that much. I prefer the noodles at their sister location marutama gaiden. Extra noodles can be gotten as a side. They deliver them on a separate small plate and not in the main course. Unfortunately you do not get a commensurate amount of broth in the main dish to support the extra noodles so you kind of have to conserve broth or order extra broth. You can specify the degree of firmness of the noodles. Overall a decent experience.

Alejandra Flores

What can I say about this place. Can't say anything about parking since twice I came here. Both use transit. Ambience is good. Waiters is enough. Twice I ordered AKA Ramen. Which not too spicy at all. But I have to say that so far this is the best ramen in Metro Vancouver. Kintaro & Jinya are also good. But the quality of the soup beats those two. Great job Marutama

Ryle

Very good service - straight forward menu selection and delicious ramen.

Steve Lo

Very good ramen. Consistent quality from noodles, eggs to charsiu pork. Fast and friendly service too.

Jason Luc

I'm not sure if its because I'm used to a different style of ramen, but the time I went there the broth wasn't too flavourful, it lacked richness and taste. On the bright side the noodles were nice and service was friendly.

Meylina L.

Hands down the best ramen in the city. Not only is the food consistently good but the staff are very friendly and attentive.

Steph C

We're venturing into the pricey ramen of downtown here. But it's also very good. Lines can get quite long during weekday lunches and weekend evenings.

Jeff Wong

My favourite ramen joint in downtown! The staff are very friendly and the food comes really quickly. Always a great time, whether its dine in or takeout. My go to is the tamago ramen! Can’t go wrong. Lovely creamy chicken broth.

Rei Yalotrab

Enjoyed it! A great place for Japanese style ramen. Inexpensive and fun atmosphere. Recommend the Aka Ramen and the vegetable ramen,.both of which have a chicken base

Eric Tsai

Good ramen, and good place.

David YT Chen

Get the Aka ramen and never forget to add the garlic chips when they serve it up! Soft boiled eggs have been hit and miss in the past, but consistent my past couple of visits. I will definitely be back!

yan kit chan

Loved the ramen! The broth tasted so good and the pork belly was mouth-watering. The restaurant is super clean and the staff are the kindest people ever. Marutama Ra-men is also relatively quiet which is nice to hang out and not be bombarded by the stress from people :| I will definitely come here again, loved it :)

Hary Guo

Some of the best ramen of had in Vancouver. Broth was creamy and delicious and the vegetables were perfectly cooked.

Julian Viacorta vera

BEST RAMEN IN TOWN!! IF YOU LIKE EGGS THEY GOT THE BEST KIND OF EGG!

I am sad to report, the vegetarian bowl lacked flavor and seasoning. Next time I'll go for the ones with meat as they seem to be like more.

Natalie Hill

Incredible. Hospitable service to pair with an outstanding bowl of affordable ramen. Never had chicken broth before but it hit the spot.

They have a small menue to choose from, and all items are variations of their chicken broth ramen, but it's seriously some of the best ramen in town. They're my go-to ramen establishment in the city for casual dining. Great quality, good service, and good price.

L.Y Jang

Really average ramens, got kicked out after hour as the waiter asked us if we wanted the bill as people were waiting outside on a Sunday night , starter were not great, so many better ramens restaurants in Vancouver

Chloé GEORGE

The environment is great!! All the food is delicious, always comes fast and the staff is super kind!

Emily Yeh

You can always expect consistent quality from Marutama at all locations. My favourite is the chashu tomago ramen with spicy soup. It's fairly spicy for those who don't eat spicy regularly. But I personally always ask for extra spicy sauce on the side and it really elevates it to the next level. Staff at the Central Library location specifically is extremely friendly. It was also great to see that they are strictly following current PHO guidelines regarding vaccine passes. I saw an individual trying to come in without proof of vaccination and he kept trying to argue with the staff. The staff remained calm and eventually got him to leave without making things worse.

Samuel Chang

Always busy but it's worth it. Especially now that they have to reduce the capacity inside. The soup is rich but not too oily and fat. Noodle is thin but firm. Staff is friendly and helpful as always. Come early and line up!

Helen Ho

Pretty decent ramen and flavorful broth. Limited menu.

Gloria L

Probably the best out of the three Marutama restaurants . Nice blend of broth and decent portion sizes.

Chet

For a chain ramen spot, this place is delectable! They are friendly and attentive and their broth is delicious. Their Zenbu ramen is the perfect amount of everything. I also recommend their pan-fried pork belly. Be advised, they only do debit or credit!

G H

The ramen is one of the best in my opinion. There's complimentary garlic seasoning you can use as well. Portions are a good size and you can always add more noodles to the bowl (at a small cost) if its not enough. The egg is one of my favourite items there. They should expand and add more seating though, i always see a lineup and I notice they run out of ramen sometimes.

Brandon Fasciana

Secret recipe for the wonderful soft boiled egg, absolutely delicious! I wish I could come back soon! Just visiting from the East Coast.

CLam

The ramen here is pretty good. The broth is flavourful, the egg is marinated so it has taste, but the noodle is a tad overcooked. As a result, it is a bit pasty and bunched together, but I am not too disappointed, as some parts still has that al dente feel to it. It is just not the perfect bowl. I am impressed by the spicy option though. It is actually quite hot, but it does not overpower the broth. That is quite hard to do.

Susan Liu

There's always a line during lunch time so get there early! 11.30ish is good! Love their buttery chicken broth.

Chris Valladolid

Enjoyed the ramen, I had the mild seaweed one. It was huge! And delicious! Good service too!

Sam Truong

The best ramen soup in town!

Joenard Rosales

If you like spicy food I'm sure you will love this ramen.

Adrian Naing

Their vegan ramen is just OK. I appreciate they have quite a lot of veggies but I would prefer bigger bowl and more broth. Other than that, service is fast and staff is friendly. I feel that a good bowl of ramen there has to be right propotion. The warmth of rich broth is first, contrast to freshness of the veggies, umami protein, and sth citrus to bring live to the broth. Well, this is my personal preference ????.

Natalie Korz

Great place with great noodles! One of the best places to go next to BC Square!

Andrew Hartman

Marutama's signature chicken broth is unique and I love it. They make their Ramen/Noodle daily. Their Aosa seaweed is a must try. Broth is flavorful and creamy, noodles are thin and Al dente, chasu is med well cooked when served so you use the hot broth to cook it further.

Dean Valancius

Delicious broth. Savory, but not too heavy. Different style than other places in town, which is nice. Kinda pricey tho

Liz W

Excellent chicken broth ramen with high quality toppings.

Ranu P

The only ramen shop where I usually finish everything! ????

Casper Guo

Marutama has stolen my heart. The staff is really friendly, they are very accommodating; Even during these circumstances they give clear instructions for safety protocols due to COVID. Their Ramen compared to others is not as expensive, serving size is great so its a win-win ❤

Bill

Made me extremely mad because it was mid-winter and extremely cold outside, i went with my boyfriend and we had sweaters on coming off the car but it was still very cold. So while my hands were freezing and I was bouncing around trying to stay warm, I noticed that there were two waiting seats indoors so I opened the door and sat quietly inside waiting to be called. The server came and told me I couldn't sit inside the restaurant while waiting. I told him I was really cold and I didn't want my fever to get any worse. He said sorry it's the rule, you can't come inside. After waiting 10mins outside, I was finally the next group to come inside so I walked in again waiting to be seated but was told to leave again "you can only come in when we call your name". What a HORRIBLE way to treat a customer. This was my first time coming and will be the LAST TIME. Thanks for being so inconsiderate and insensitive. There are no signs on the door saying I couldn't come in, and the waitlist had no option to leave a phone number so that we could wait in the car.

Alina Chakabe

The server never got me any water until I left the restaurant. Pretty good food tho Again, I visited this ramen restaurant a few days ago and this restaurant must be out of water otherwise there is no reason they never cared about my empty water cup. I really love Ramen they have, but they should know what they are supposed to do other than taking dishes and giving bills.

cornelia real

Have been here several times. Probably my favorite ramen place in downtown. Texture of the noodles just right, soup flavourful and not too greasy not too salty.

Pgogo

We waited for about 20 min in line and was worth it! We tried Black Tantanmen Ramen & Chashu Tamago Ramen...Awesome! Maybe take a reservation. The tables were separated and they were very fast and efficient in the service. Also the service was friendly and opened to tourists.

Wayne Tucker

Great ramen with chicken based broth. Pork and egg were cooked perfectly. Got the spicy version which had a little heat but wasn't overwhelming at all.

Gavin Lau

Milky and creamy broth. Great location.

Addison L

Nice ramen with the medium-thickness noodle which is my favourite type of ramen noodle. However the broth is a little too thick for me. I feel not comfortable of drinking too much of it in the end and had to have some iced black coffee to clear myself up....

vic

Marutama Ra-men was delicious! I ordered the Zenbu Ramen for $19 it had 3 succulent pieces of chashu and 2 pieces of brisket. The egg was very runny once bitten into and the veggies were a nice surprise as they were different than the regular onions. The broth is very rich and the noodles are made fresh in house.

Connell Frey

Under the recommendation of my brother who knows his ramen, he said it was a must try. Eating lots of ramen myself, I was initially skeptical about the chicken based broth as they usually don't deliver the creamy, thick broth that I look forward to in a ramen but Marutama surprised and the chicken broth was thick and creamy but still had chicken broth taste that made it feel just slightly more healthy than the pork based. I did not do it myself, but you could even choose how you wanted your noodles done. Amazing!

KC

Cannot compare this location with the one on the Bidwell St. The soup is too plain and felt like they added some noodle boiling water too. The chicken meat has barely not taste and the noodle is a bit overcook. Only the half boil egg meets the average standard for the store. I will definitely walk over to the Bidwell street location if I want to have some chicken ramen next time.

Kelsey Carriere

The worst kind of service. We just walked in and told us we had to wait five to ten minutes, and then the waiter kicked us out of the store. The reason was that we were blocking the exit, but everyone was eating ramen. We told the waiter it was too cold outside, but the waiter insisted on driving us out. This kind of ramen shop is best left alone. Many restaurants in vancouver have never had a waiter to catch their customers out of the restaurant, special in the winter vancouver. The service attitude really shocked me and my friends. Good luck with this kind of this services

Godfrey Lam

Both downtown Marutama locations are essentially the best ramen in the city. I don't know what else to say. Come here and enjoy perfection!

Edward Huang

One of the best ramen spots downtown, reasonably priced and probably my favourite booth - so tasty & creamy! Perfect comfort food for the dreary Vancouver winters

Nicole Volmar

Everything about this place is fantastic! Friendly service, mouth-watering ramen. I seriously couldn't get enough!

Maxime Badet

Great clean place, food is good, staff very friendly! Food comes fast, I recommend this place for a quick bite to eat. The community tables are big enough your not in strangers faces.

Kevin Tran

One of my go to ramen places. Their broth is very rich and full of flavours. Noodles are firm, with a smooth texture. And toppings are always fresh. Their menu is limited compared to other ramen restaurants, but sometimes simple is good. This is one of very few ramen restaurants where I would drink all the broth and empty my bowl. They are always packed, with a line out the door. Luckily the turnaround time is pretty quick, so I don't mind waiting.

Rosma Heller

Love the place. We went twice while in Vancouver. The base is amazing. So very rich.

Cindy G

The best ramen I've had in Vancouver. Broth is rich, by not overly salty like most other ramen joints. This is definitely placed at the very top of my ramen list.

Robert Haines

Good ramen!

Tun Tun Aung

I just read a previous post about their takeout service. HE/SHE was absolutely RIGHT! Super salty soup and tiny pieces of meat! My kids love this place and even they tasted the difference. Very disappointed ???? will not order from here again.

Tanner Smith

Good food, staff was excellent in enforcing the new mandatory mask policy.

Wendy

had delicious ramen at this spot after a long day of excursions in the rain. staff is so kind! food is delicious!

Claudine Maestrado

Chashu and soft boiled egg taste like marinated for longer time than usual. It was salty. Soup is losing chicken flavor. Hopefully, they take the quality back like before.

Nam Vo

????

Diana Rodriguez

Delicious soup. Nice noodles and the pork was tender and excellent.

Chantal H

best (chicken) broth! simple, true to the ingredients, perfect eggs. the noodles were my preference. the chasu-gohan was yummy as well

Marcus Primero

Best Ramen in Town, in my opinion. It gets busy and sometime the wait is quite long.

Minh Phan

This is my favorite ramen place in Vancouver came here many times However, yesterday I took some friends there, we were 5 ppl and when we finished the meal, one of our friend had diarrhea right after, at first we thought that was fast probably it’s not from the ramen, but later 4ppl in our group had same reactions, wondering there’s something wrong with the food....

D B

This was one of the best ramen I’ve ever had. The chicken broth was amazing and so complex. And the noodles were thinner than I’ve had before - loved these too. It tasted like a bowl of happiness. Get the one with all the veggies!

Ann L (Faye)

Long lineups but worth the wait.

Henry

Marutama was the only ramen open in the area on Remembrance Day. The service was nice, especially from the orange haired waitress with the piercing. I ordered a basic ramen with karaage, and she gave me the wrong one. I told her was okay though. She was going to get me another one, but I told it it was fine. Before I even started eating, she came out carrying a huge piece of karaage! I was so moved. This lady is a spectacular server of customer service. Later, the lady beside us also got the wrong order. But you can't blame them, they must be tired. Plus I'm grateful they're even open! Food wise, it's really salty though. They're known for the huge mountain amounts of bean sprouts and meat.

Alex Wong

Used to be my favourite, and still the best chicken brought available. But portions have been decreasing size and price climbed while they open new locations.

J V

Verryyy tasty ramen. Broth is flavourful and you can add chili powder, garlic chips, or sesame seeds at your table. The soft boiled egg has the perfect yolk. A filling, and comforting bowl! Highly recommend. Great price as well. They no longer accept cash.

Hetwarth patel

Noodles are not as chewy as you would expect. The broth is good, but not very flavorful. If you would like to have a new taste of ramen, you can try this store out. Portion is a bit small on the 10+ buck region. If you want a delicious and a good meal that will work with most people, this is not a particularly good choice. They do not take any cash at the moment.

David Y

Subtle tasting initially... but the umami starts to kick through and you find yourself unable to stop eating haha ???? A bit pricy but expected for downtown location. やるじゃないか。

Victoria Karner

This place is awesome. The staff are nice, attentive, and work so hard to give you great food and service. Its a pretty popular joint so there can be a wait at any time of today, so expect it. The place is clean, and is made to accomodate both single, double, and larger groups of eaters. However the real star of the show is those delicious bowls of ramen. Soup that is full of flavor but still manages to be light and refreshing. Generous servings of meat on the cha-shu ramen. They also offer appetizers like gyozas. Definitely worth the visit.

Thomas König

Not as good as the Bidwell location. The broth-to-noodle ratio was too low and the depth of flavour was lacking. Friendly service though and clean interior, since it's fairly new.

Lee Javier

Had terrible service here, they wouldn't let me pay with cash, didn't serve me my food and I was being harassed by a crackhead. Food was below average aswell. Being generous with a 1 star review. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Kourosh K

Pretty okay Ramen and was our third choice ramen spot on the street. They have a bowl per person rule so don't expect to share or hang while your friend eats.

K S

Lunch

Jonathan Lee

Flavorful broth, thin noodle, tender pork portions,I ordered original spicy one, it was very good, and I finished all pf the soup:)

Rob Bruynooghe

Pretty standard Japanese ramen place. Nothing special about the ramen here but also no complaints. Like most popular ramen places, be prepared to wait. The two seat tables are a bit cramped but it's expected in such a busy establishment.

Narry Pang

Quick and fast. Ramen broth is nice and hot

A

Came here for a quite bite. I got lucky that got in right before the lunch rush. Got their signature creamy chicken broth ramen. Noodle was on the very skinny size yet quite hard in the texture which is quite nice. Broth was creamy and tasty. Very well balanced ramen. ????

Joanna Chu

Got food poisoning from this place. Do not recommend. Their quality has gone downhill

Meagan Haarstad

One of the rare places that allow you to add extra noodles AND extra soup. While I started out with the tamago ramen, I really like the AKA. I’m not a huge spicy food eater but I can still manage this, and it’s very different flavours. It can be very refreshing if you’re looking for noodles and don’t want to have the classic ramen.

Fargo M

Great taste, soup is good, extra noodles are cheap

Evie C.

This place was absolutely fantastic! Noodles were amazing, broth was delicious and the pork/eggs were perfectly tender and delicious. Super affordable and really enjoyed our meal on the patio. Service is also really nice!

burn k

The broth was very rish and flavorsome, with the perfect amount of spice (if ordered spicy) The noodles had a great bounce to them.

Daniel Orr

Delicious ramen. Staffs are always friendly.

Ricky Lun

Not bad, Decent food for a fair price. Would recommend if you're hungry and happened to be nearby.

D Milburn

They had a bit of a rough patch after they opened, the quality wasn't up to the standard of their other location, but my last few visits have been great. The spicy tamago ramen remains one of my favourite dishes anywhere in Vancouver, plus this location has some very good handmade gyoza as a side dish.

Jasmine Sung

The Ramen is what you would expect. Broth is strong, noodles are firm, and the charsiu is huge.

Jeremy Kwan

Light but filling broth with an amazingly aromatic pork belly made for a great tasting bowl of ramen!

David Mark

Love it!!! The best broth in town.

Ladislav Toldy

My go to ramen place. Always the best!

George Brown

Had the Cha Shu with Egg and it was so flavourful. Consistency of the broth was top notch. Portion was ok. Will definitely be back.

Thomas Luk

Creamy mild chicken broth, not too heavy. Fast and friendly service.

Steve Henderson

Best ramen I've had

D. Kano

IM GOING TO DREAM OF THIS RAMEN FOREVER! I wish I had access to it all the time. Wow. Overall 5/5 stars no doubt. Service was quick, food was amazing, and it was fun to sit at a communal table.

James Concepcion

My favourite ramen place to show friends who have never truly tasted Japanese ramen before. Love their creamy broth.

Bill Tso

Marutama is amazing! Affordable, amazing traditional ramen run by real Japanese people

Joseph Teller

Absolutely amazing broth, clear and tasty. I would consider them top 3 out of all ramen shops I have tired in Vancouver. Their noodles are not the one that I enjoy the most, but still they are pretty chewy. They are like the ones that you can expect and Ramen Danbo. The egg is well cooked as well. The chashu is mediocre, I would recommend trying Yah Yah ya out for some real good chashu if you are into them. P.S: Super speedy service I am quite impressed

MaV Dez

Excellent Ramen. Quick service. They don't take cash.

C cattouf

Great ramen with good value. Some good supporting choices as well.

Zhao Wenqi

The chicken soup at marutama is definitely different from the pork base broth at other ramen joints. The soup was rich but satisfying and not overly heavy, the noodles were thin and al dente, the meat and tamago were both excellent. And gotta love that they provide fried pieces of garlic on each table to sprinkle on your soup. ++

victor feher

Great spicy chicken ramen.

Narinder Dhillon

Top 3 Ramen in Vancouver for most. Top ramen in Vancouver for me.

Christopher Go

Fast, fantastic and not much of a wait. Spicy sauce is pretty spicy and place is very clean.

Siqin Liu

Creamy chicken paitan broth, super-thin ramen, spicy, rich, flavored egg (their selling point). The chashu is the chewy kind (as opposed to the melting in your mouth kind). The egg is so flavorful I could just eat plain rice with it!

Cortni Le Blanc

I saw some previous review saying the taste was different. Today I went down personally to try it out. I got the Basic Tamago Ramen. I love the soup, I think the earlier people just got bad luck as this is newly open, chef is trying to get use to the environment. Egg is great. Noodle is the thin type of noodle. I ask for spicy, you can really taste the flavor. Only if the price can go lower, I will go for 5 star. Overall, the taste is great.

Peter Kho

I went here twice during my 3 day stay in Vancouver. The service was fast and ramen was amazing, however I hope that they expand their options to other proteins other than pork.

Chris Liu

one of the best ramen in town. loads of toppings, and good broth.

Ingrid Concepcion

Great, friendly service. Top notch food, and the place was very clean and spacious.

AL CH

It was okay in general. Depending on your preference, this could be your favorite style of ramen. Would recommend to at least give it a try

Melissa Lee

Not really vegetarian friendly, and ramen was tasting like water... my other 2 friends liked theirs. Service and ambiance is ok!

Diane

This was well worth the wait on a rainy day! The tables and seating are socially distanced, staff are so timely and cheerful, the food is INCREDIBLE. We got the shoyu ramen, pork chasiu ramen, and gyoza. Our bellies were so happy and warm afterwards

Michiko T

Hell yeah this place is good! Incredible staff, really clean and comfortable, amazing ramen. Definitely recommended

K T

Very quick service. Really good ramen. Different than most places I've been to downtown, as this place is much more creamy. I actually loved the thinner noodles and creamier broth! The staff were so nice as well and chased me outside to give me my umbrella ! Fast service, great food, great staff! What more could you want ? :)

Blaine Huynh

Had lunch here the other day. The broth is rich and tasty! Would like to have more choices on ramen noodles and side dishes. Fast service and clean atmosphere.

B H

Great flavour. Very consistent quality. Friendly service.

Iris C

I usually don't crave for ramen but the chicken broth and noodles texture is amazing. Will come again to try the spicy one next time!

Ari

Havent been here for almost a year. Still taste good and service still good. The original ramen was satisfying with a refill of noodles. Pork was tender and the seaweed was unique.

Juwon Kong

Always check your togo orders they charged me an extra egg but when I got home there was no egg. What's worse they don't have a number to complain too. They have a good product but that doesn't mean you can screw people over.

Mind set

Generally good. Great service. The pork could be of better quality.

Darren W

Great broth with a seaweed base emphasis, food is constantly above average and shows the strength of the internation chain in this regards. The issues? The wait and process/procedures for a table and the the hard sticker for me, no noodle sizes! If you are letting me judge cook time for texture.. give me thick noodles that don't turn soggy by the end of my meal! Things to note.. always more garlic, spicy here is actually pretty much mild... Add more spice if you need more.

Clemence Busatto

Definitely hit the spot. The broth was on point. Creamy, but not too thick or too watery. The noodle was done just right. Would definitely revisit again.

Joseph Chao

Very efficient service and didn’t have to wait too long during the lunch rush. Tried the Tan Men ramen and really enjoyed the veggies and noodles however I found the broth to be incredibly peppery! There was also only one vegetarian option

Corrine Li

Small place, but with great ramens and wonderful staff. They also have original Japanese beers!

Nenad Knezevic

Decent tasting ramen, slightly over priced for what it is but at least you don't have to wait too long

Calvin Cam

Okay so at first I was somewhat skeptical because it looked like another small ramen shop on Robson Street, but I was wrong. I got the chashu ramen and gyoza. The ramen was absolutely insane: the broth was rich and flavourful, the noodles were toothsome, and the pork belly was nearly fall apart tender. The gyoza was nice and chewy but also crispy. All in all, I can't recommend the place enough; the atmosphere is also great and cheerful! Thank you Marutama Ramen for the lovely meal!

GD world

Nice little spot in Yaletown. This was my first time trying ramen so I don't have anything to compare the food to. They serve a few non-soup items but I really just went for the ramen. They only use pork as their meat and offered no vegetarian option - I'm not sure if these varieties would still make it ramen. Overall the soup was flavourful and service was prompt and friendly. They do not accept cash - effective December 1 2017, only debit and credit is accepted.

Andy Seto

One of the best ramen bowls I ever had. Definitely a must go-back restaurant

David Hoang

Awesome. We just got back from our vacation and first thing I wanted was ramen and specifically from Marutama; because of their dried garlic that my partner loves. They're the only ramen place that serve it.
