Awesome staff
Always full of children without their parents fighting for the computers to play fortnite.
Great staff very supportive, very helpful
I like this library, it has a kind staff. My kids enjoy there a lot.
The Keshen Goodman is a great public space and it's location is very accessible. Great staff and events. I highly recommend the library to all visitors and the general public here in Halifax
Good place to hang out at lunch
Quiet, clean and comfortable. The hours can be a bit odd, especially during the summer, which I find inconvenient.
Much better than that ugly pile on Spring Garden.
(Translated) It was really great ???????????? (Original) واقعا عالی بود ????????????
It's a library and the staff are great ????????.
Great staff and great place for kids plus convenient location
To be honest, I felt very disappointed with this library. I used to love it very much, good staffs, comfortable study area, just meters away from game center. BUT you will find lots of teenagers off from schools like to gather together in this library around 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm. They usually lack of respect to other people who wish a quiet place. They talk loudly, eat food everywhere, leave garbage on the study area. Sometimes I even encountered them who hide in bathroom to smoke. No one educates them to behave properly in public , especially in a public library?!
Why does the library close at 5:00 PM on Friday nights? You are open every other weekday until 9:00 PM. A
awesome the best library in Halifax its a little small but the staff the worker are nice very good love this library.
I love this library! Convenient location with free parking. Friendly staff. I can always access a computer when needed.
A must visit library after the central library at spring garden.
Very friendly staff. Great place to read or work a few hours.
Phone charger station is available there. It came in handy on a rainy day.
A comfortable place of refuge to sit and read, even in these times of restrictions.
They have a variety of activities taking place here. A very active library! Well done! ???? ???? ????
There are so many libraries in Halifax, after centeral library this next best you can find in the city. Very friendly and helpful staff with plenty of seating to quiet corner to read. They also have good collection of books and Media plus they have very nice children play area as well. The library also offers printing services and nice little cafe, conveniently located near Lacewood terminal.
Nice place and kind people. Recommended place for children. The library schedule public lectures and educational sessions to public and to the smaller ones. I would recommend a better age selection. The facility also equipped with computers, which is a good thing, but unfortunately, they have been used for games more than anything else, but this might be also a good idea to attract children to come!
Library with decent selection of books and digital media available for borrowing. I really like the fact that this library truly the epicenter of this community, it represents all the people that live and come here from different cultures and backgrounds. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable as well.
It is a very good and useful facility for community which is the Library. The place and location is good, but the parking lot spots are limited for the large visitors of that place. The kids section is big providing different kind of toys and programs for kids and the other parts are busy as well. Library staffs who work there are very nice and respectful, they are really help visitors and have patience. The only suggestion is to inform parents to take care of their kids and don't leave them unattended, because some of them are not taught to share and play with other kids which lead to hurt other kids or seize their belongings and toys. For this case notes and warnings should be there in order to everyone take care of their kids to keep Library clean and quiet.
Nice library, great book selection. Even though this library is not near my home, I choose to go to it for its selection and efficiency. Well done.
great library overall, has stuff to do for all age groups and a very wide selection of books with cutting edge tech that one might need for research, gaming, video streaming — you name it. One thing though, this library is usually very busy and its hard to get computers for people under the age of 16, so making a reservation prior to arrival is recommended.
A+ 10/10 would stand in the parking lot again
Staff were helpful and kind. It's not a particularly large library, but well laid out.
Such a great space and the most helpful librarians! Thrilled to have this as my home branch ♥️
It was yes
Family friendly
Fantastic kids section that's never empty, always new friends for my kids to play with. I agree with other posts that it's pretty noisy but I like the community center feel. If you bring headphones and get a study coral there's no issues. Favourite library for our family.
It's very good place to study and to get new books
Great library, next to Canada games centre and a major bus stop.
Great selection and big open children's play area!
Nicely organised, self checkouts, ample of parking, coffee shop, 5 star
Its a good library for doing a bit of reading. Not maybe as good or fun as the one downtown, and its also small although the staff are good over there. I do not think you will find as much as in the University/College or Spring Garden major library although it has rooms you can occupy for a few minutes when empty or work on a laptop if you need somewhere to go
A very good place to get a language class and play with my baby!
Very nice place specially the children's area. Lots of activities
Nice place, but stuff not friendly. Especially employee librarian named Ashley. She is very aggressive to customers.
The Keshen Goodman Library is probably one of the best libraries in Halifax. Even with having the Halifax Central Library which was built for approximately $58 Million USD in my convenience, I still choose to go for this library. It's always quite inside. The employees are very nice. There is a lot of seating, a small cafeteria, gaming area, and small rooms all across the library for people to study in their own space.
Always it's a beautiful experience. People quite kind, very organized, bunches of books, CDs, DVDs and so on. I strongly recommend this place!!!
This is my favourite library ever i come here everyday
I enjoy coming to the library to do school work however can get rather loud in all parts. While most follow the current COVID19 mask mandate, I notice some using public computers with no mask.
the PC sucks, its from 19s, they got it from the trash can and just quit your job do not come to the Library if you have anger issue and the Library sucks and i have depression after coming to this Library
The library has huge collection of international books and magazines too....
Such an amazing play area for children that feels separate from the rest of the library. Library on the loud side, but it suits for this library on the children's side, at least. Great seating for parents/guardians, too. Amazing new play space outside! Always new friends here. Really great selection of books and magazines. Great study corners. Yay for great book sales, too.
Good
i am a voracious reader and search for library wherever i go. Kishen Goodman, Public Library of Halifax located at Lacewood dr, Halifax,NS,Canada is a perfect place to go, grab a book or magazine, take a cup of coffee if you like it and sit in a corner. In fact i adore the scent of the place , so quiet, serene ,its more of a community place. Good collection of academic as well as recent issues of magazines on business and on geopolitics. Library is spacious with a vibrant and lively environment.there are plenty of computers and i saw students come in great numbers to work on their educational assignments.A very attractive feature is summer programs for kids each day.I didn't have to leave kids at home as they were happy to participate in various events and then either sit on PCs or read books of their choice. I got a copy of scheduled events in advance. Programs for adults are arranged in various side rooms alsoone i attended was conversation classes with ladies with origin from different countries and we would talk about their experiences of living in Canada or else. One day i saw some afflent ladies playing bridge as well. The system of returning borrowed books to library is awesome. Just slip the books outside library in the plank erected in wall .librarians would do the rest by themselves.I miss the library very much.
A great place to get out of the house and play with the little one. Check ahead of time when they will have reading circle and other activities. Great movies and tv show selection.
(Translated) Good and very nice (Original) جيد وجميل جدا
Great library.
(Translated) I really like this library, because it always has many events for Newcomer and for the area it has for children. (Original) Me Gusta mucho esta biblioteca, por que siempre tiene muchos eventos para Newcomer y por el área que tiene para los niños.
Beautiful library, with lots of computers, happy lamps, and a huge selection of books. Looking forward to visiting again.
Nice experience
I have to agree with other reviewers on the noise levels and the occasional kids fighting over a PC. Nonetheless this is a great community facility. Staff are generally helpful and nice. One particular staff member (a veiled lady) has been very friendly and supportive, took the time to show my kid around and helped her with in-library activities. Overall i find it a great place for a long morning read or even for getting some work done. I wish the hours were more convenient though, especially on weekends.
Not sure if i've done a review of this delightful establishment before, but i LOVE this place! Not a huge lot of books, but it is strategically placed to serve the Clayton Park/Fairview area, is right across the street from one of the best public recreational centers in the whole Metro area (Canada Games Center), and two buildings away from the Lacewood bus terminal - so "location, location, location", lol. It's always impeccably neat and clean, has tons of computers for folks of ALL ages even the very young, and is youth-oriented - not a place for quiet reading and contemplation, but one cannot be all things to all people. They have WONDERFUL children's programs, and they promote local artists with very good displays. VERY community-oriented, they have great programs for people of ALL ages, and the staff are TOPS!!! Beam me up, HRM Library system!!
Great selection of books in other languages (Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Korean)
Nice place
awesome public and accessible space for all ages
this library is a joke I was beside someone who lit a fire in the library probably 10 or 15 feet away sitting down but the workers there recognized me because I'm from the area.so they sent police to my house and now im not allowed on the property for 6 months or ill get a 500$ fine.
Good selection and a good place to do some work too.
Love this library. Such great staff, always clean, and great sélection of books. And always à quiet corner to read in!
Great location, friendly staff, beautiful building. Very near the walking trail that cuts through Clayton Park, and also located very close to the bus terminal. There's always a good number of people here, but never feels too busy or full.
I've been coming here since KG opened. My family grew up in the play area when we lived in Clayton Park. This place is really a hub for the community. The questions I had were handled professionally and courteously. As usual, above and beyond. You need something? Go there.
Library operating well and following the latest covid-19 protocols.
Great place , close to home !
I liked the in Halifax library,it is actually recreation center.Well equipped computer, chrome book for kids,a proper designated space for kids.Variety of range in books ,CD,tumble books.Lots of programme.
This library has turned into a nightmare! Quiet time and study are impossible! It has become more like a community center... which is not the purpose of a library. There are unsupervised children running wild, gamers yelling and screaming and the noise level is ridiculous! Library staff don’t give a damn either. Myself, along with two others complained about two kids fighting loudly over a computer and the male staff member looked up from his cart, shrugged his shoulders and rolled away. This is not my first encounter with staff that ignore the noise either. If you hate your job, quit! Try greeting people when they come in instead of scowling. The books are slowly disappearing to make room for rows of computers, tables to play board games and rooms to hold dance parties in. The money wasted on the outside hammocks that kids use to lay around and text is pathetic. Try a few nice benches or comfortable chairs so that the many elderly who frequent this library can use them too. I hardly think they will crawl into a 10 foot hammock to read. The fact I was asked to donate to this library by staff who don’t have a clue what the money is being used for doesn’t work for me either. They can’t even answer questions about what changes are being made. All I am told is we don’t know what they are doing. Where is the public input for all of these renovations? Do we not have a say in what happens to our library? If you want to turn it into a community center, then call it that and take library off the doors. You don’t even deserve a one star rating. Sad.
Always has open spaces in the parking lot, staff are helpful and friendly and the children's play area is bright and open. They're working on some redevelopments, looking forward to seeing the new space.
Its awesome place to be in . The study areas on the side walls are great . If its week day the Students from a near by school are annoying during their lunch break and after 3:00 PM . Usually library staff manages the students quite well. The cafeteria is also great.
Nice library, free parking and free coffee. Not very quite though.
Fantastic location.. A little loud though some times.
VERY noisy .If I had little ones I would not every take them there. There were teens laying on couch in teen section. Not sure what they were on. Not clean at all ,there was even a mouse running around when I told the lady she just brushed it off .They need to do something about the teens that are just hanging out there.
Super friendly staff , fast computers , great atmosphere
So pleased they are OPEN ! Some very helpful , good people work there . A great asset to our City .
Staff go above and beyond truly. Our community is blessed to have this public facility. VM
The staff is great. Always very helpful. It’s a busy place and I like that. Shows how valuable a resource it is to the community.
Definitely a community facility, not unusual to see seniors playing cards, people just reading, others working on computers a full range of activities. Accessible and good parking area, all round a great place.
Very helpful and friendly staff
Best food is McDonald's
Great place, staff always friendly and always willing to assist. Welcoming atmosphere. We are blessed to have this library.
Staff very helpful. Grab bags of books to go all set up near door. Told it tends to get loud in afternoons. Basically the building is to small for purpose.
Looking a little worn down after pandemic closures, but also a great place to go.
I would give this a good rating for the friendly staff and good books, however, the amount of sick children that go to this library has turned me off from ever visiting again. Every time my children and myself visit this library, there is a handful of sick children either sneezing, coughing or have runny noses. We always get sick after visiting. And yes we are frequent hand washers, but it doesn't do it justice when you have sick children coughing and sneezing in your face or snot going all over the toys. Keep your sick children home.
I don't understand why they call library.its online game zone .its kind of impossible to find computer beacaue most of computers are busy for online gaming and you can't even read there beacause most noisiest place i ever see.
Great selection of books, friendly staff, good ability to social distance.
Excellent place for kids
(Translated) Great library, near the game center and the soccer center, a resort for children ???? (Original) 很棒的图书馆,临近game center 和 Soccer center,遛娃胜地 ????
Staff are friendly, always pleasant and extremely helpful.
The staff here are so helpful and friendly. I really appreciate their help!
Very great library with a wide range of selection of books and computers. Will continue going there all the time.
Great library. Large selection of books for kids and adults. Very friendly, helpful staff
Noisy library. People are constantly talking, laughing, on the phone, watching sports, and playing music out loud. There was also a large circus of "students" who were disruptive. This is not a place to come if you're looking for a quiet place to study unless you have noise cancelling headphones. Hope this helps a fellow student!
Great place for family
Tip Top
