Here you will be able to see all the opinions of real people who are purchasing the products of Toronto Public Library - Fairview Branch (Library) in North York (Canada).
As of day the business gets a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and this rating was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is virtually the top, and it is founded on a large number of reviews, so we may be pretty sure that the evaluation is quite faithful. If people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the business, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Library corresponds to the category of Library.
Excellent theatre plays are performed there by Stage Centre Productions.
Good place to print, not to difficult to print out a document compared by other public library
Full of inconsiderate people. People go to quiet study rooms just to talk. Security announces be careful with your items all the time so lots of robbery l assume. The library itself is not bad though.
It’s very loud, and staff don’t tell people to be more quiet! It’s like a community centre rather than a library! There was a couple practically having a picnic next to me.
Love it. ;P
nice and quiet environment, perfect for studying
Decently made although I did not like how when I was smart I want to make my duck brain Smart but I'm the library they said no ducks allowed and I cried because it traumatized me for the rest of my life when I couldn't smarten my duck so what I decided to to was commit treason, I READ A BOOK!! I already know what you are saying to your selves *GASPP* but I promise it was for a good reason, I pretended to read a book to distract the librarian while my duck was secretly under over learning brain smarts. I was so cool I was like bait for my duck and it was the coolest experience ever but nothing can get me over the trauma I experienced at the front desk, THE PAIN!!!! Anyways, after that me and my panda went home with all our brain smarts and kicked the librarian in the but for being a bad imitation of Dora. The end. Of my story. For now. Good bye. See ya later. Alligator. In a while. Crocodile. I'm done. Tadaaaa. Weeeee. Googlyhihoo.
Got my library card... really helpful staff
এটা অসাধারন এক্টা নাগরিক সুবিধা। A regular week day it opens 9-8.30! It is not covenient. And a weekend it get shorten it work hours. I do not understand why it is not open at late night. Most of the people like to study after the office time in general.
Best Library ever. Well maintained can find most of the book you want. If you like reading I definitely recommend you go there .
Great library! Lots of places to sit and study, and there are a number of quiet places away from the noise of some areas. It would be nice if there were more outlets available for those looking to study with a laptop. However thats a minor issue. Note this location has a ton of stairs, and slow elevators.
Good place to read. A lot of books! Spacious!
I came to visit this library one time in order to get a library card and there was a rude black lady in the reception. I'm a refugee and the librarian asked me to pay $120 and when I said that's a lot of money, she replied by saying "We aren't the United Nations". Later on, I discovered I can get a library card for free. I work and I pay my taxes. I just don't know why some people are like this. I used to love to go to the library...
Many individual desks with plugs - private single rooms, open single spots, and group single desks available. WiFi kind of sucks for streaming, but for working this is a great place to be. Very quiet, busy. Fills up by 10AM and full by noon.
Good atmosphere, good Wifi, lots of places for studying,
Wonderful library, one of the best I’ve been to. Def worth a check to study/leisure readings. Does get full sometimes might suggest bringing an extension cord for extra outlets incase you/others need.
Big 3 story library. Has a lot of books and computers there, and it's a normal quiet space except where some computers are but over all great library to visit.
Best library so far I have been. Librarian is so wonderful and helpful. Lot of space and activities to do. Parking is free. Fantastic ???? books for kids. Mins away from the fairview mall and the Don Mills Station.
Convenient location
???????????????? Love it ????
Very friendly staff, spacious with lots of computers and place to read quite
Nice and big library. Staff is really helpful
Love going here for the young adult book selection!
The lady at the front reception desk was exceptionally rude today. I filled in a post card 2 weeks ago in order to get a library membership and I still haven't received it in my mailbox. And so today I just went to the reception desk to ask about it, I was very polite and just wanted to inquire about the postcard because maybe I haven't written down my address properly. But the lady was just so rude, she asked me if I had received the postcard and when I told her I didn't she said "So where is your proof???" I never said that I want a membership right away! I was just inquiring but she was extremely bad mannered and treated me like I was beneath her. And when I asked her if she knows how long it usually takes for the postcard to arrive ( again very politely) she got annoyed again and said "I don't know!!!!!" Honestly I am very disappointed with her behavior. I was polite and courteous to her the whole time I spoke to her but she was extremely hostile. Now I kind of wish I was rude to her too because she didn't deserve my civil behavior. Please teach your staff to be polite and courteous to everyone.
Love this library. This is a great place to study, read and my bring the children as well. I go there sometimes to do my Uni studies. They have my desk in the back, and may computers to work on. Also, my kiddies love it as well. They have a great selection of books. There are lots fiction books, and the same time, they have lots and lots of educational and reference books for children of all ages. Enjoy.
First time at the Fairview Library theatre and had an amazing experience. The theatre can sit approximately 250 people, and visibility seems to be fine everywhere. I sat on the right side close to the wall and the position was perfect. Facilities are large with lots of natural light and clean washrooms.
One of my fav libraries, you can see the CN tower from there hehe
A lot of computers and books.
worse libery. not quite at all
So glad it's on my neighborhood!
very nice, relaxing atmosphere that is extremely suitable for studying and working
Great place to come and study, this library is resourceful.
First, Toronto Public Libraries generally are amazing according to my visit to many of them. Second, Fairview Library is the best I have seen because of its wide area including kids department. Lastly, It’s the best place for reading books for kids.
Excellent library with great helpful staff. I print at this library often and most of the time the printers all work. Have a great variety of books, including a small section of books/movies in different languages. There are plenty of computers to work from and a few close door study rooms.
I've been to this library numerous time since I was a kid until now. They've renovated since then and have automatic returns when you enter. There's also a theatre with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There's plenty of natural light throughout the library. On the second floor there's fiction novels for adults and young adults. They seem to have an extensive manga collection. There's tables by the windows where lots of people converge for group study sessions. There's also study rooms and lots of computers available.
Great library with plenty of seats
Go there everyday
Great library! Staffs are very helpful! My kid loves it a lot and his reading skills get improved amazingly thanks to the library.
All nice and clean, with safety precautions.
Honestly, Im very upset and disturbed about the fact that i go to the library which is a place to read and study in peace but even if i go to the 3 rd floor which in my knowledge is supposed to be the quietest place i hear people talking out loud and guards walking by and saying nothing.. like umm excuse me i came to the library to read in quietness or else i would have gone to a coffee shop or at home if i wished to hear other peoples conversations. The second problem is still the quietness but at the 2nd floor; i know theres a station for kids to read as well as play which is good for them and i know they can be a little loud and thats fine but this is a library not a kindergarten, im in the 3rd floor and my ears are going deaf from so much screaming like imagine how loud they are if i can hear them from a floor above. Parents should know that this is a library and they should keep a watch on their kids this is just literally a norm something which should be known to everyone. Another problem is the fact i see people leaving their food containers or bags after leaving the library. Like theres a trash bin in every floor and near the exits, it doesn't cost that much to take care of your own wastes. And something else as well which i consider a problem is sometimes the internet is very bad like i have to go change places where i sit be cause theres not a good connection. The only reason I'm giving 2 starts with all these problems though is the fact that theres a good BOOK SELECTIONS TO READ. That is all i had to say. I hope the staff can fix some of these problems which is not that hard to do seeing there's guards walking by and maybe you can put up some sign such as please be quiet, that may be able to help.
Smaller branch but nice new renovations and new small theatre.
I really love this place! It's very spacious, has a large selection of books, and there are a lot of computers for use. Gorgeous library, too.
Limited parking space. Library isn't that big. There are lots of people after school is finished.
Very nice setting like other TPLs. The wifi is a bit on the slow side, but that is to be expected, since it has many visitors. The children's PC section should be moved. It is too close to the reading area and causes disturbances for readers. The staff is well trained and can manage disrespectful visitors to a good extent. I really like this branch and wish everyone else an enjoyable visit.
Great atmosphere, only problem is it is not open late night.
Happy to see the taxpayers money go to a place like that. Closest major intersection Don Mills Road and Sheppard Ave. East. Located on the north side of Fairview Mall which is on the northeast corner of Don Mills and Sheppard Ave. East. Public Transit TTC Sheppard subway east from Sheppard Station to Don Mills Station. TTC bus #25 from Pape subway station to Fairview Mall Dr. TTC bus #85, 139 or 10 from Sheppard subway station to Don Mills station, walk 2 blocks north on Don Mills Road or change to Don Mills Road bus north. My experience for applying first time passport was great. It is very nice place, and staff is very helpful. Thank you
Tremendous selection and great environment.
Wonderful selection of books. Nice study floor. Convenient location as its near the cf fairview mall
1. Large and perfect space 2.nice staff 3. Free wifi 4. Print and copy available 5. Registration for library membership very fast 6. Close to Parking spaces 7. Good programs for new immigrants 8. Free passes for musiems every they (limited)
I'm from Australia and used this library during my visit in Toronto. It was the best local library I've ever seen even in compare to the libraries we have in Melbourne. Good job. I was really impressed.
Nice place to study and relax, i enjoy the wide selection of novels and magazines. tanks!
Helpful staff.. In this pandemic the library management is great. After placing the books on hold online, books are ready to be picked up withing 3-4 days.
Bright and nice, internet is fast, a lot of people.
Fantastic crew member who always got ur back!

Very unfriendly front desk staff
Very nice library but hard to park sometimes
Come here for the kids section. They have a play area with activities and a wide selection of children's books. It's a great way to spend an evening with a toddler or a child of any age :)
Good selection of books and lots of space to study
This is my favorite library,I had a good time here。No chance to say goodbye,Thank you for your company。I'll miss you。
I visit the library at least every 2 weeks & I find it to be a great place to visit, to increase my knowledge & to grow. The books are informative & always available for anyone who loves to read. The new renovated library & theatre is superb.
(Translated) Quiet, convenient transportation and parking. Friendly and well organized books. Easy to read while studying and relaxing. (Original) 조용하고 교통과 주차 편리 친절하고 도서 정리가 잘 되어 있음. 공부하고 쉬면서 책 읽기 편함.
Great library! Very quiet and staff is helpful. My study sessions here are always a joy.
pedophilia often appear in this library and history of sexual abuse inside of library.
Since North York Library has closed, this has been the best replacement we've found. Its huge, with a great big collection of books. There are lots of seats and you're guaranteed to find empty ones to sit at, even at the busiest times. There is also a theater which I've been to once and it is a great place for a fun evening.
Lively like always. They are allowing a certain number of people to enter.
Love the books there mostly comic books
I give 2 stars because is very noisy, the staff should be able to do something about this sometimes. A library suppose to be a quite place, this one is not. Kids running and screaming. People chatting at loud. Not good not good.
I have been coming to this Toronto Public Library since mid-2015. My visits were quite regular from April 2017 right until now. I have been to and leveraged services (study rooms, books, computer work station etc.) at different Toronto Public Libraries across the city including the biggest one at Yonge and Bloor. By far the Fairview Library is the cleanest and quietest Toronto Public Library in my opinion. They have good number of study junctions, study booths and personal study tables. Furthermore, this library has adequate amount of computers (normally cleaner keyboards, mouse etc.) and normally you can reserve one without having to wait too much. Overall great place to study, engage in job search activities and acquiring knowledge. The environment here will help with YOUR struggles and/or add to YOUR success. I am grateful to this library. God bless!
Very spacious. Nice staff
New and upgraded library? Wait till you see new North York library update. Now that is a tax I love to pay to every time.
Great. Only issue is it can be noisy, but that's expected from a public library.
Fairview Mall Library is a very nice three story library. The library has many equipments and countless numbers of books. In the afternoon, there are many clubs and extra help/tutoring for students. And sometimes there are also movies for kids to watch on P A Days. There are many computers and private study rooms on the third floor. The staff are also very nice and helpful. I come here everyday to do work and it is most of the time very quiet and I would recommend here.
Quiet, peaceful, and convenient.
I'm very concerned there are no stickers on the big windows, birds can be seriously hurt/killed because of this. Please look into this!!!
Pretty busy all the time and impossible to find washrooms. Are there any? ????
Very big library with lots of rooms to study and read books
Saw a dead bedbug in one of the study rooms on the third floor. Notified the staff and hope they will do some professional bedbug spray to the premises
Really nice library!
Fantastic place. It's easy to understand how valuable is the education for the people.
The only reason this library didn't get a 5 star was for lacking an innovation hub. Hopefully they will open one soon. Great open space and lots of seating available
Worker was helpful and friendly.
good place for reading and studying. The interior trim gives very calm mood, really helped concentrate.
Nice looking library, meeting rooms and quiet environment. Great place to get work done staff will be happy to help you
Spacious, staffs are friendly and helpful . One of the best libraries in town.
Big collection of materials, lots of spaces to work, but busy.
Recent renovations have let more natural light into the building. Larger library relative to others in the area. Rooms can also be rented for functions/meetings. Can get noisy when busy otherwise a good neighbourhood hub for learning and reading.
Excellent library. Lot of books. Calm atmosphere to read.
its good the workers ive seen are kind for example one time i was two week late for returning a book and i didn't have to pay
Great!
Fairview library is big and clean with a large collection of literature for all ages. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is wifi and systems available for patrons
Fantastic place for huge variety of books and Best part is play area for children. There is a security guard who also keeps an eye on kids.
Power went out in my building and I'm WFH so it was chaos until I packed up and went to the Fairview branch. Security guard at the entrance has a clicker keeping track of capacity and now you cant eat or drink inside because you gotta keep your mask on at all times while inside. The WiFi was the best it's ever been and I was easily able to find a good socially distanced workspace on the 3rd floor, and I was able to load money onto my library card and print a bunch of stuff for work. SO AMAZING. I loved it. Thank you so much, Fairview branch public library!
very bad. staff rude. go to don mills library the staff are so much better there
this library was very busy. I never seen a library this busy before.
(Translated) This library is very good, but there are thieves. The person sitting behind me left for a while yesterday. Her computer notebook is stolen. Although the library often broadcasts to be optimistic about their own items, I estimate that many people are I don't pay too much attention to myself, this is Canada, who will steal things, but it really happened. So even if you have to leave your seat for a while, it is best to let others look after the items around you to prevent accidents.
We loved this library, it's quite big one, They had Excellent staff members, very helpful.
sosososo nice.I booked a dictionary and I donot know what the procedure, I even do not know how to change the pick up location. The lady of 4 was so kind and patient to help me.
excellent - much needed library for the area
Best
very well equipped library. great atmoshphere
Best place to Study. I can't study at home so I come to the library and I'm loving it.
Great, quiet place to study
Very good library in a very convenient place. It is close to subway, Fairview mall and many stores. It has 10 study rooms on the third floor and teen and kids space located on second floor. Lots of computers, meeting rooms and study area. You can get free tickets for ROM, agha khan museum and some more locations on Saturdays. There is a line up though. I gave 4 stars because there are not enough plugs near the study tables and many of them do not have plugs around.
superb library, the staff are helpful and very nice, there are many books, there are many places to sit down and relax, there also a youth lounge where you can go in and play some of the latest console games and use i pads and mac books, there are many fun programs to attend every month for free, there is also a very nice theater which produces quality shoes, there are also many nice computers, the only problem is sometimes computers don't work and are slow(rarely though) and the place should be more clean
Library is clean and new! The children section here is awesome!!!
This is the best library. The windows are large and neatly mall.
Decently large library with lots of seating space. It has a blend of new and old furniture in here but overall comfortable
not good and there is not enough people to help me in the library !!!!
Her favourite spot in Toronto. She likes this just as much as the Bloor and Yonge Work and Study Pod. She loves the staff. She really appreciates Vera ~ from CICS. Also she feels really nice meeting the English staff~ and loves the machines that are there to checkout books, and precious items. She would like to meet people and chat with them.
There is a very big area.
Hugh library with lots of books to read and computers. Has activities and events for childrens. Closer to Fairview Mall.
It was great experience the stuff were really helpful
Friendly staff and well maintained
so dirty and people are loud
I happened to stumble on the Fairview Public Library while in the area for an extended period of time (thankfully given that it was hot day!). The library however is only open for pickups of 'On-Hold' items, drop-off of due items and the use of their computers for no longer than one hour. It looks like it is a rather large and spacious library but given this pandemic, the library has had to warden off a number of areas of the library to discourage staying in and just reading/studying/chilling, etc. Staff and security were helpful and supportive. If I find myself in the area again particularly when this pandemic is better managed and more facilities become open to the public again, I'll definitely come back!
Love it
best place to freshen your mind
Library is clean and organized. Staff are helpful but i wished they can minimized the people who are just chatting, listening to music, answering phone and chat loudly. People wants to study quietly sometimes..
I appreciate the staff at Fairview Library - always friendly and helpful.
Love the atmosphere, the books and helpful staff
This would have been easily a 5 out of 5 stars except under one fundamental condition, the internet. As a university student and for any other university student, you cannot use this library, especially if your cramming for a test. The internet WILL break down on you and you will be forced to leave the library. Only study here if you do NOT need the internet as the internet here has been broken for years. Please get this fixed as this is the differentiator from an outstanding library to a building with significantly less purpose for high school & university students without reliable internet access. This review has resulted in the numerous times coming to this library with optimistic hope that the internet will be working, but has failed on me consistently throughout the years.
Great atmosphere for study .
awesome
Great location since it is just few minutes walks from the mall. There is a little disappointment because no washrooms in third floor. Second floor washroom is pretty small. Parking is easy because you can use the parking lot in the mall. If you travel by public transport system, two options are available bus and subway.
Nice library
It's a great place to read, study or work on projects. Very clean and helpful staff
Meeting rooms and nice atmosphere!
Great place to study . Computers are also good .
good!
Nice place ... has 3-4 floors with printing and scanning express computers on 3rd floor. Staff I encountered were courteous and friendly and there is some parking as well. It’s right behind Fairview mall and also Don Mills subway is just a few minutes walk.
I was going there for the copy some of my documents, all the staffs very nice with very polite smiling, but except the third floor woman, very rude when we ask her question about the printer. She likes a zombie talk with us without any passionate. All in all, another staffs are very nice tho.

It is new and has a lot of space to do work.
Great spacey library with a great catalogue
Among the largest TPL branches. Extensive collection including highly-technical and specialized science texts. Occasional instances of weak WFi signals. Quiet study spaces available without a booking, so people can hog them all day if they desire.
Staff aren't super friendly, but they'll help you out if asked. Still a nice place to quietly work and read.
Elaine R.at fairview mall location is a great person. she always goes above and beyond her duties to help everyone. other staff are friendly as well.
My second favorite library. When north york toronto library was under renovation I started going here. Its not as huge as North York but its quite, near the subway , have meeting rooms and green rooms. love their study pods.
Helpful lady
Worst library I've ever been in. Always loud and weak internet connection. If you're going there to study for finals please do yourself a favor and go to a different library. What a disappointment!
The cleaner doesn't want people to use the washroom. I'm really mad her attitude!
One of the best library’s in Toronto
quiet enviroment for study.
Not toward the stuff. But the people here are incredibly loud and totally ignore this is a library. Never coming to this place to study again.
Based on my personal experience, Print service and internet is broken almost every day! I don’t know why they would not fix it. Otherwise its a good library.
It’s nice but internet has too much down time to make it a regular working environment. Stick to the physical books if you want to come here
Excellent library, staff were nice and helpful. Big library and lot of reading materials here.
One of the biggest libraries around.Almost the only library that can find a seat at 4 pm,although there are many people as well. However there are too few seats with the outlet, most of them are on the first and third floor.
Amazing place and helpful staff.
Kids section has a lot of things to okay with, including giant Legos, a scavenger hunt and computers for the older kids.
We borrow kids books from this library all the time. Amazing collections of children books as well as children books in both traditional and simplified Chinese. The kids play area is great for toddlers and younger kids. This library also appears to be a popular gathering place for the community.
Fairview library is okay
The library has many equipment and countless numbers of books. The staff is well trained and can manage disrespectful visitors to a good extent. The kids play area is great for toddlers and younger kids... Nice place to study and relax, i enjoy the wide selection of novels and magazines. Thanks! Facilities are large with lots of natural light and clean washrooms. One of the best libraries in town....Quiet and comfortable!
Quiet place to study
I've literally stopped purchasing books now that I've access to the library...
great place for study. Helpful staff.
Love this place! Very clean and organized library in the city
The library is in a good place (vicinity to a mall and many shopping options in neighborhood), variety of eateries and large parking lot. The staff are respectful and helpful. But the desks are not so clean and people using it don't care much about its cleanliness (pouring their coffee on desks,...!).
Great place to work and study in a quiet environment. Has comfortable furniture, private rooms, and plenty of computers.
Did their best to serve the public with Covid precautions in place.
I wish I could rate this Toronto library location higher because the library itself is great (how can you complain about an amazing selection of books all free to borrow in a beautiful, clean building?!). However, for such a large library, the parking lot is definitely not adequate. Ideally, I wouldn't have to circle around for over 10 minutes to get a spot nor park at the mall or medical building next door and then walk over just to return a few books. Also, I've found that the staff are not always that helpful. Most recently, I was given a very hard time when I wanted to renew my library card. I had changed my last name and even though I had my marriage license, birth certificate, two government issued IDs, and credit cards with my new name on them, the staff member was extremely reluctant to renew my card. I was so embarrassed that she was making such a big deal about it that other patrons started coming to see what was going on. Needless to say, I left pretty annoyed.
nice library, would be awesome if its open 24/7
This library is very bad sevice, rude staff , Cant help you to do anything. Very lazy library staff.
Great place except it can be distracting noisy. The security guard stands around TALKING. This is a library you'd think at least the staff would be the ones ensuring its quiet and not the ones producing the noise.
I loke the easy process
Helpful staff, huge selection of books and quiet place to read and study
This is a great library great staff there always helpful to me and just like coming here great place. I recommend lost of people to come here.
Great selection of books and movies, friendly staff and lots of space to sit. If you need a plug in a quiet area though you should get here early as the study spots fill up quite quickly, especially the ones with power outlets.
great place to study. Quiet and comfortable!
Very big and friendly place
Great place to study
