Old but gold;) can improve on its bathrooms still

Some days it's quite and some days loud. Also, dirty. Wish it had wipes to sanitize the study table or computers. Hate that it's not 24hours all semester.

Scott Library York University it's a great place lot of people studying reading living their lives sometimes alone sometimes with people is beautiful however is a lot of people some people are very loud talking on their phones but others are just trying to read about the hype of frond capillary beds you can sleep here you could eat here a lot of work done it's a great atmosphere great place to live

GOOD LUCK finding a spot to actually study, when you do people always chit chat. Place is horrible, seeing how dirty this place is, seeing people on the floor, man can't imagine how much filth you're sitting on. Bet they never cleaned the carpets and stuff

Mister DoctorPerson

Very spacious and very quiet throughout. Lots of natural light, but not a terribly great view on the bottom floor; the area with the little pool and art display seems rather dull. The staff are quite helpful and friendly. Very clean the times I've been here. Very easy going up and down the floors. The middle area looks nicer the higher you go. I really wish there were more power outlets by the seating areas on the side, where I can study in a separated booth. These seats are very isolating and calming, however I cannot spend much time there because I cannot access power outlets there. On the ground floor, I have tried several times to access the small isolated rooms for study groups, which requires booking, and they are almost always all filled, whether or not they are booked by the people in them.

Dirty, disgusting and not well maintain library, specially the "collaboratory area". The couches, tables and floor are so dirty and old. The washroom next to the collaboratory area (first floor) it's GROSS! I'm not going there again!

Glenn Reyes

Quiet!

Huge library. Unfortunately, it isn't huge enough to accommodate lots of students so do not expect to find a seat/spot during exam/rush hours. You are better off going to an empty classroom to study!

It’s terms of space is good and big But cleaning and all is not good It’s old and dirty chairs and old carpet They should improve this library and make it look very cool and clean it would be better

it’s quite dirty in general and the washrooms are filthy as hell but the quiet zones are pretty ideal for focusing on studying

One of the best places at York University. A great library with welcoming staffs

Alina Yahyaie

My favorite place when I want to study????. Quiet!✅

Diana Spektor

A huge library with every book you will ever need for an assignment! It's also a nice and quiet place to study, especially if you can find a seat anywhere above the 2nd floor.

Good library but their entry policies at the moment are ridiculous. I didn't have my ID with me and despite not needing an appointment anymore, they still insist you need ID to enter! I completed the sign in form, which you need to use your Passport York account for, and even that wasn't enough to prove I am a York student. As far as I know, only York students can have a Passport York account!

Nice place to study, quiet library.

Does a decent job in adjusting a big population of York. Obviously it can’t take more students in. You can always find a spot for one to two persons, but for group study good luck finding one.

Good Customer service, I got friendly support and walk-through information through the phone! The library itself is pretty decent as well.

Outdated, ugly. Overall just really bad

Alexander Khvatov

Advantage - open for longer at night than most of the other libraries. However, it is crusty and old and most of the places to study at can get quiet disgusting (including and especially the study rooms). It is not that quiet here either, because it is a big library with many people.

Noushad Rahnama

Behina MK

The only issue is that people talk in the silence rooms and no one says anything to them. It's hard to study if you're sitting close to an annoying one

Martin Ng

Great library to study with impeccable staff.

Lots of study space - private and group. Not always quiet.

It gets way too crowded during the day so it's hard to chill there between classes. Tip: keep an eye out for benches tucked in certain areas in certain buildings - you'll have a better chance grabbing a spot elsewhere.

I only go here to study and I have to say the excessive beige is SO boring but the second floor isn’t so bad, lots of different areas with different volume levels and you can book private rooms to. This is also where the adaptive lab is for people like me, I have adhd so I use the adaptive lab because it has a silent room where even whispering isn’t permitted and it helps me focus, also there’s bigger computer screens which I love.

Scott is a pretty great library, with different sections and floors that each have their own environments. You won't have trouble finding a comfortable spot in each section that works for you. Its modern in many ways, but its also worn just the right amount that a good library always is. I really like it! YorkU is generally a really great place where you get an assortment of campus experiences. Its large enough that its easy to disappear, but its also organized well enough that you wont have trouble finding great resources and people from your affiliated college or faculty.

Decently quiet but rather crowded. Very helpful for research papers and what not but can be difficult to find a spot to get comfortable in (at least on the occasions I tried). Interesting stuff, though.

Green Marimo

The desks and chairs here are very old

Dreamstimes

It is a good place other than there is no washroom at ground floor

Adrian Dabbie

Good library to study with lots of space to hide away and write or in social areas to talk out projects and prep.

lisa Seki

Nice and quiet

Andrew Pang

Generally a quiet and tidy place to study. There is plenty of space for both collaborative study and individual study, though spaces for the latter (located on the upper floors) fill up fast. It can be difficult to find seating during exam periods, but the quiet atmosphere makes it one of the best places on campus for uninterrupted study.

Pros: a lot of books, various floor with different noise-levels Cons: no windows, old/dusty, terrible hours, it can be quite busy, if you need assistance you have to go to the first floor It's not terrible but it's not great either.

dirty as hell. more often than not you'll see students sit on the floor to study cause it's impossible to secure a seat during exam season. sad to see that this school just wants $$$ and takes too many students but fails to give them proper facilities to study. i was given lots of attitude by some front desk full time employee when I simply wanted to borrow a reserve book. stay vigilant when you study alone. watch out for the loiterers that sometimes appear in the library. collection is decent tho.

York U. Map Library---Excellent collection of worldwide maps, helpful and competent staff and a major research resource. Professor Bill Mahaney, Geography.

Scott library is the central core of this failed university - the beating heart of disappointment. It is old and dirty, and smelly sometimes too. If you go there often enough, just thinking about it gives you post traumatic stress. The ones who actually study there are all beyond depressed. And the ones who don't study when they're there, contribute to why this university is a second-class institution. I give it two stars, however, because it is occasionally comforting to see other people in as much pain as myself that we attend this school.

Always found what I look for in terms of books! But I would recommend changing the old computers and their operating systems!! Very Slow!

The librarians are really great and helpful! Make sure to book an appointment (in advance).

I love studying here in the summer because it's quiet and not crowded. The temperature, however, makes studying a challenge. The air conditioning is cranked up so high that I recommend you bring a jumper or a heating blanket. I'm currently wearing a hoodie in Scott and I'm still uncomfortably chilly and it's 24 degrees outside with 70% humidity. (July 18.19). Bundle up folks!

lexie cullen

Front staff are rude and have lots of attitude. I don't know why you get a job you hate to treat students so badly.
