This is the closest branch to my home and I'm always able to get what I need from there by requesting books ahead of time on the website, which they then ship to this branch for me to pick up when I can. I work 9-5 M-F and can always visit around their hours. Checkout process is always quick and easy and the library is a nice, calm place, as it should be.

Friendly employees! Nice and clean inside, lots of activities to do with the kids (check the printout at the front desk for a list of upcoming activities/events) computers to use, books and movies to rent, this place is a little hidden jem :)

My favourite St. Catharines library location. Most of the staff know me and even those who don't are extremely accommodating. Free parking too.

This was my worst library experience. Ever. I went to 2 different libraries trying to find something even remotely child friendly. There are no toys. The children are supposed to be quiet. Not a good time with young children. I'm really really disappointed.

Why is a library closed at 5 pm on a Saturday, closed on a Sunday, and generally not accessible to adults that work a 9-5. This is a disservice to members of a community that could benefit from the wealth of resources and knowledge provided by public libraries.

Staff members don't stop talking and laughing. This is not a library, this is a kindergarten or a child daycare Enormous number of kids crying, you can't read or study Staff are unprofessional and keep talking with each other, Tim Hortons is more quiet than this chaos

I very rarely make a review but this is completely necessary. I am currently at the St. Catharines Public Library - Merritt Branch trying to study (Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 at 12:37 pm). I understand it's quite a small space and noise travels but the staff here are talking very loudly. I would understand if they were helping out customers but a majority of the time, the noise comes because they are talking amongst themselves about things unrelated to the library as far as I can tell. The staff (two ladies) are loudly giggling and laughing and it is frustrating trying to study even with noise cancelling ear-plugs. I understand they might be allowed to talk to one another but they could at least be courteous and respectful of the fact that a library is used by different people with different needs. There is usually an unspoken rule that libraries are meant to be a quiet space but they are completely violating this and in a very unprofessional way. I do not mean to get anyone in trouble but if possible can they receive a notice or memo or reminder to limit the level of unnecessary noise as it is extremely distracting. It is truly making me not want to come to this branch ever again. Unfortunately, it is the only branch that opens till 8 on Monday, currently. I really hate to be that person but I would appreciate a change. Thank you!
