Nice library. We only visit the kids area, which strikes a nice balance between library and play area. Only a few toys, but lots of food space, mats, stools, books, and 4 computers. Best of all (for everyone else) is the kids area is on one the far side of the building.

An excellent library with a fair selection of books. Anything you can't find here, you may be able to order in as well. Using library services is one of the best investments you can make in yourself, and the staff here are courteous and helpful. The environment is quiet, good for studying and never too busy. Overall, a great location (on par with the downtown Nanaimo facility) with great staff supporting it. I am very grateful to have access to this library and all its fantastic services

Great and welcoming staff. Approachable and helpful. If you needed activities for the kids for the Halloween they have some crafts that they give a way for free. Different assortment of books. They follow mask mandate and social distancing. Very clean. The library is great and safe for kids. I don't mind homeless people sleeping or resting in the library just like what we have in Prince George but here on Hammond bay area, Nanaimo, I didn't see anyone sleeping it feels you are really in the library.

We are so lucky to have such a beautiful library in our neighbourhood. Toddler time Wednesday's are absolutely an amazing time for young ones filled with fun songs and books. We love our walk to the library!

Bright library with a good selection. There are a wide variety of activities for all ages, including clubs and movie showings. Nice but limited study and work spaces.

This VIRL branch is now partially open with COVID-19 protocols. You may enter to pick up your own book requests and use the scanning checkout. They also have "grab and go" bags for people who want to try their luck at the contents. "Mystery bag" is full of mystery novels. All bag contents must be checked out and returned. There are magazine bags also.
