I am downgrading my rating for this library, from 5 to 2 stars, as of 2019. Unfortunately, they've hired some unfriendly, unhelpful staff, since my previous review. One in particular stands out as extra "crabby" and downright RUDE. He's a heavy man, rather unkempt looking, with absolutely NO people skills. He is definitely not an asset to this branch. Don't have his name ( no name tags) but he certainly doesn't deserve a nice, cushy job like this. There is also an older, East Indian woman now working there who could try smiling once in a while. Not friendly or welcoming either, just in a big hurry to get patrons out of there! The friendly, helpful staff, including Barb, (see my previous review below) who previously were usually working there, seemed to have "left the building". Too bad. Some of the replacement staff leave a LOT to be desired.???????? .................... My previous 5 star review: Staff is friendly, knowledge and helpful. A special thanks to Barb who went above and beyond with her friendly attitude and assistance today. I needed to get some packages ready for mailing at the mall and she was so nice about it. I thought the "tape pulling" would not be allowed but she made me feel ok about this, as did the friendly man sharing our library table. I think the new decor is rather stark and cold looking at the CC location but the warm , welcoming staff make up for that.???? Keep up the great job! It is noted and appreciated.

Even though it’s smaller than the other two regional libraries in Nanaimo, it’s still one of my favorite libraries. Central location. Most of the staff are super nice. There is a bin right outside the mall, next to save on food entrance, to drop off books after working hours. There are many baby, toddler, teen, adults activities here, check their website. Lots of parking because it’s part of country club center and very accessible from all different entrances. Self book checkout and drop off is very convenient. Small section for kids, includes stories, booked, two computers, and props and toys.

This is the best library that has ever existed on the face of the planet. The people who work here are the nicest people on the face of the planet. They are understanding and non judgmental and they don't discriminate. I hope this library will still exist when nine thousand years passes.

I love libraries and all of nanaimo libraries are staffed by knowledgable and friendly staff. Really enjoy the atmosphere at the waterfront location.

Consistently disappointed with this library. People fill out crossword puzzles in full view of library staff with nothing said. There is not even signage offering to photocopy. Papers are always scattered about. There is only one single table with an outlet for plugging in laptop & devices, usually monopolized by tutors while the one tiny meeting room goes unused (except by staff to sort books in) Staff seems to care less about patrons. Design & functionality of this library is horrible.
