WORST LIBRARY EVER! If you are looking for a quiet place to study, avoid this place like the plague! I usually go to the most quiet place to study but even there you can find people on skype, talking on the phone, and eating noisily. I called the manager of the library and she told me that it is "allowed" even though she told the person to keep quiet. Parents who bring their obnoxiously loud children who aren't taught that a library is where you stay quiet and not scream at the top of your lungs. Since it's an open concept building, you can even hear the staff members downstairs talking and literally hearing their entire conversations. Study rooms are not soundproof whatsoever. You can hear everything that happens in rooms next door, or even one floor above. Kids from the school across the parking lot come here and play PlayStation. Don't even bother going after 3pm, coffee shops are more quiet. I mean c'mon it's a library. Never going there again. One star because I can't give it zero stars. Waste of our tax dollars.
Awesome place for readers
Opens 11! Why?
Great library, for the people who hear its noisy it's a true fact but if you go at times were students aren't supposed to be there it's quite an perfect place for studying and reading
Fantastic library
Amazing building situated in a wooded area, easily accessible. You can get free seeds for your garden. Ideal place to work. They also have a selection of movies, video games, and a lot of activities for kids. BUT the staff is the worse part of the experience by far. They are extremely annoyed when you borrow or return documents, because they would much rather have you use the automatic machines than disturbing them. Even if the attendance is very low. They are borderline rude and couldn't care less about patrons.
Very nice and quiet place with good stuff
Very modern, beautiful, clean and comfortable. Lots of light. Good selection of books (not so much for DVDs). Plenty of activities for the kids. Has a parking lot with enough space most of the time. Staff is in general courteous, but every now and then there's an exception. A bit noisy, though. They made the mistake of not isolating the floors and the noise form the children's section is there on the upper floor, where the study rooms are.
Great library but all the parking spots are taken by the students next door
Nice place to read .... quiet .. multi private study room. And can find many languages book.love it
Amazing Architecture ! and cool place to study !
Best place in town to test out your new noise canceling headphones.
Too noise there it is incredible. it is not a library is a party kids center. Yaak
I really like this library. It is very big, with many books and games you could borrow. Furthermore, the outside and the inside look is very modern. Love it
Well decorated, nice environment to study.
It's a very noisy place. Bring your noise-canceling headphones if you're planning studying there.
Beautiful library, I could spend an entire day here without realizing it. But children do come around often and disturb the peace and quiet. There is literally the sound of kids screaming and running that can be heard from everywhere in the library. High school kids from next door come and fool around a lot too. Shame.
As good as it gets. Great installations and amazing staff.
Enough books collection and internet facility. Opening hours must be same for weekdays.
Nice place if you want read quietly. Looks clean and the whole system is quite modern. Been there couple of times.
Friendly staff
my favorite library, it's cozy, it's big, it's really ncie and the librarians are so helpful
A zen sanctuary for the mind to concentrate
First visit was terrible, crying kids around you, almost no space available to study. Don’t go to this lib if you have serious studies to do. Only good for primary and may be secondary students. Alot of ressources for kids. I suggest the library personnel to make this library for kids only.
The place is nice but usually crowded and noisy, that's why sometimes is difficult to find a place to sit or relax while reading a book in a peaceful environment. The business and affairs tiles are not so many. Most of the books are in French.
It's a great place with lots of diversity and opportunities for people to learn and create a passion . but it says it is open( June 2 2020) but if you call the library, it says its closed. Its confusing.
Very beautiful library, however, some parents feel that this is an indoor playground for their children. Can be very noisy at times and staff do not do anything.
Nice place to study Free wifi
Don't go there to study.
It's a beautiful and comfortable place to study but it's way too noisy. The concept of the place is to encourage all ages to find something to do in the library so not really an ideal place for serious studying; it's more like a community center. I wish they would close off a section of the library for stidents who are just there to get some quality time studying.
Ambiance is okay, but make sure to bring noise cancelling headphones or earplugs if you plan to study there. There can be noise (kids and babies) from time to time
It's so nice with everything you may need but it's a bit noisy there
Very nice library. I just wish they had longer opening hours.
They have the best books ever!! (and discs)
Best library in mtl
This library has a reputation for being loud but it is because they are doing an exceptional job of welcoming the youth. This library is cultivating a love of books and learning to a whole generation. While other industries such as journalism have faltered with the introduction of the Internet, libraries have somehow made themselves even more relevant. Be thankful youth are in the library rather than out in street.
Came Here for the architecture, stayed for the architecture.
Silence!!!!!!!
a lot of noise inside .I can not study.people specially girl and boys meet each other In the library and the love story begin .discussion laugh etc.
Very nice if not for the kids and staff talking super loudly.
Hands down the most gorgeous library I have ever had the pleasure of having a library card for. The sleek and modern architecture allows a sophisticated and professional feel to envelop you as you browse the aisles while the wall-to-ceiling windows let in the view of the forest's greens of summer and reds of autumn to act as an invigorating and colourful backdrop. Be warned that there are some noisy teenagers during exam periods, so headphones are wise to bring.
New library opened a few years ago.
(Translated) Beautiful library with modern architecture. Huge from the outside, although the selection of books is limited, the collections include French and English books, in addition to a few shelves in Spanish, Chinese and others. Plenty of seats and tables available for reading, working or studying. Uncrowded in the evening and quiet, except when a plane passed just above. Hours of operation until late evening some days which is good.
It's great with a huge facilities
Bring headphones; weekdays are loud, weekends are even louder. Also, the internet sucks.
Nice place to hang around. Can’t blame the staff for noisy students.
It's a really beautiful place but they shouldn't call this a library. I come here to study but it's ALWAYS noisy. There's a lot of children who run around and scream, teenagers who come to "chill" and do nothing productive, the staff talks really loudly and don't say anything about the noise as they contribute to it... It is really too bad
Awesome modern library, with a large selection of documents (written, audio-visual and digital). A fantastic addition to our neighborhood, with a reduced carbon footprint planned during its conception. Cannot say enough good things about this resource.
WRONG OPENING HOURS ON GOOGLE
a quiet and beautiful atmosphere for study .
They offer printing services at best price
Public library with a good selection of french and english books, magzines and DVD
Amazing collection, there are plenty of books in other languages and I love studying there, very polite and helpful staff
Tried to study .... Its impossible too much noise
AMAZING library ,nice place, has many interesting books, the parking lot is quite big, too.I LOVE IT
Beautiful library, a lot of space to read and relax
Place is well kept staff members are nice!
The fact that this library is so modern overshadows the issue that it is so noisy, people in college and university I strongly recommend you, if you want to come and study at this library prepare to say shut up to everyone that thinks that being in this library means having leisure time or socialize. People forgot the principle of a quiet library.
This is not a library. You'd be better off going to Chapters to study. This is more of a daycare center. The staff is extremely awkward and borderline rude. Lacking in social skills. Every single person we interacted with was like a robot. From the person who made the library cards to the person who checked us out. As if though they looked for the weirdest most awkward human beings and hired only those ones. I hope to be able to self serve so I don't have to deal with the staff there.
Great we'll designed space.
Nice but doesn’t contain some university level books
beautiful library with amazing wood architecture. nice patio in the back for reading outside during the summer.
Love the contemporary design and the all glass windows and high ceilings! Always clean and well organized! Kids love the reading bike, it nails them to read :) They always put their heart into making the decorations for the Holidays and occasions. Love our library!????????
An amazing library made completely from wood! One of my favorite libraries in the city and a truly gorgeous structure. I love the windows that overlook the wooded area in the back and it sets the mood so well. A true beauty
Love this place
It has a good selection of books, papers, and blu-rays, can't complain about the resources. But it is always so unbearably loud! Great place to hold a kid's party or a rock concert but don't expect to be able to concentrate or get any work done unless you bring a really good pair of headphones.
Alot of noise by the school students, No regulations for this issue, otherwise its a nice library with a good amenities
Genereally very noisy on weekends. Noise is tolerable on weekdays.
Bravo
theres a panoramic view, which is great. Usually very crowded, no more place to study and work.
Beautiful brand new library all glass windows allowing the sun to shine inside. Great calm study/work environment.
Beautiful building but very very loud.
This place is rather a playground for little kids and a hang out spot after school for bum teenagers than a library!!! A total mess and way too noisy. Security guards are there more for decoration than for order. Only useful for borrowing stuff (decent selection of books and video materials though), that's is why I gave it a star, but definitively NOT a place for studying or just reading in a nice, quiet library atmosphere. Shame on ignorant administration or on whoever is responsible for keeping order in public places such is this, so called "library"...
A great local library and art gallery.
it's a nice looking place with lots of spots to study. the big issue is, it's noisy as hell: the kids' computer area isn't isolated and they're constantly yelling, the librarians converse pretty loudly, a bunch of teens are always talking (the wide open space guarantees you'll always catch a bit of their conversations) or yelling while using the elevator, and people are often eating chips and other kinds of loud snacks. the ever-present noise seals the deal for me; i'm not coming back to this library.
This is not a library at all. It's a community centre or babysitting facility, there is zero silence, the sound is equivalent to being at a child's birthday party. Great waste of our taxes to build a silent/quiet environment to promote studying and reading.
My go to place to study since 2014. I still go there from time to time and I am impressed at how clean and fresh the place is. The architecture, the lightings, and the design makes the experience rejuvenating.
Very nice place love spending time in there. Very kids friendly as well
Gorgeous location, excellent staff who go out of their way to assist clients, great wifi and fantastic collections. A little lively on weekends, but the staff does their best with the children
It’s a very nice place with everything you need, but exceptional loud at all the times. Don’t expect to be able to concentrate.
It's a very nice place to study in But the only problem is that the students of the secondary school don't understand that they must stay quite in this place You have to put on your headphones all the time ....
Nice library near the park. It is always busy with the youths. Go find a corner spot on 2nd floor if you are looking for somewhere quiet.
Unlike other old libraries. It has all sections you need for everyone in the family. Well organised. Staff are super helpful and nice. Panoramic view to the forest and full natural light make the atmosphere more attractive than being in a 4 concrete walls-room with small window. Spending your day reading is fun here. On the other hand, they have 1 security guard who do understand that kids have their section and sometimes parents can not control noise kids make. The library is an open space so any noise downstairs are can be heard on the second floor. That security guard speak to people as if he is in higher grade than parents. If they really want to limit noise from kids downstairs they should isolate the two floors from each other using transparent glass to keep the same friendly architecture. Once happened with me when I came with my almost 2 years old kid and he was exciting seeing other kids and spacious area. He made some noise after stepping from the front door. The guard on duty jumped asking brutally to keep the child silent. He was not comprehensible and left with arrogance or attitude expression on his face. The library has section for kids and you should understand that you need to accept some noise while parents explain to their kids (with certain age that can be controlled not 2 years old) that they should remain with low noise as possible. The library deserve more than 3 stars but this story made me give 3 with hesitation.
Nice
This library is not very big, but it's clean, accessible, modern and it has a bunch of books for kids. It is connected to the Marcel Laurin park and there's a North gate entrance that goes directly to the woods. Highly recommended.
I used to love studying here, surrounded by nature, full glass windows and very bright. Tables are large and have many charger plugs. This place is not the best to concentrate and study. Sometimes during weekends they have local activities or some kind of music festival going on the lower level. You can hear the kids running around, crying and screaming.
It is a superb library for family with kids. We love this library! It is so beautiful and bright. Very kid-friendly. It is noisier than the usual libraries.
Most beautiful library in Montreal. Awesome building on the edge of the woods and mostly new books in more than two languages.
Very lazy staff; they just want to be done with their shifts and go home. Many times I went to borrow some books and every time they said "sorry we're closed", when there was still 5-7 min left till closure. As for the seating, I don't understand why there are white neon lights attached on the tables with no covers or switches, they're eye killers. And if you sit on the couch you're more likely to fall asleep, especially by the window when you got a serene view of the forest. On the bright side, they have a vast collection of books (English and French) even in several other languages, but can't say the same for video games. So if you do go make sure to drink loads of caffeine, go super early, wear your uv glasses and bring an empty bottle to pee in cuz they only have one bathroom upstairs.
It’s more of a community center than a library. The facility is beautiful and well stocked, and I wish I could come here to study, but it’s often full of loud high school students, children running around, and sometimes live musical performances. I don’t understand why management/the staff allows any of this. Security walks around and does nothing to restore quiet.
