Very calm place to study and the staff are usually friendly and helping. Lowkey got arrested twice for illegally trespassing a international border. Other then that, it's fine

Beautiful building that straddles the U.S./Canadian Border.

Library staff are friendly. The opera house has interesting history and kept well after more than 100 years! The only issue is with the google map route. If visiting from Canada, try searching Stanstead South United Church in google maps instead, which is two minutes away from the library and inside Canada. Otherwise the map may show the path that crosses US border.

Not a place for tourists. It is private property so photography is prohibited. Even on the outside. It is only meant for the community as a typical library so not a place where tourists are wanted. Do not go as a tourist to take pictures. They do not want you there.

(Translated) Beautiful building with a bit of history related to the opera room. Curiosity to see the border pass directly to the center of the building. One of the only times you can cross the US border without paper since the entrance to the building is on the American side. (Original) Beau building avec un peu d'histoire lié à la salle d'opéra. Curiosité que de voir la frontière passer directement au centre du building. Une des seule fois ou tu peux passer la frontière américaine à pied sans papier puisque l'entrée de la bâtisse est du côté américain.

It is not a place for tourists, nothing interesting to visit while it’s a very vulnerable location as it’s an International border which it doesn’t look like! I’ve strongly advised to not to be even close to that area. Better go more North and enjoy the beautiful locations around Magog or few kilometres go East and visit Lake Lyster with amazing view.

felt good to read a book in Canada at this library... also, I zigged zagged through the flower pots saying "I'm in Canada, now I am in the United states" personally borders are stupid and if I really wanted to, would literally walk across the border and pick up a taxi in Canada... no one would know what I do and when I do it... No government dictates my life on planet earth. nope I didn't read a book in the library today... that's a no brainer. But I did read a book in the library on the Canadian side without governmental approval. sorry for the confusion to the library owner, this was an experience some 6 years ago before the "plandemic." I loved crossing the tape line and saying I'm in Canada... I also love the the architect of the building itself and the purpose and meaning of why the building stands. I love Derby, VT (Derby Line) would be honored to live on this border seeing my neighbors on the Canadian side, I wouldn't even mind having my backyard in Canada itself. still a beautiful library and I enjoyed researching the history and meaning of such a beautiful place. I really wish our two countries can put aside our differences and join together once again... We can't be divided by silly boundaries no more and we spread knowledge and love between our neighbors. Thank you for the experience to the owner of this library you have done such a excellent job maintaining its history.

Friendly atmosphere and a great way to show young adults and kids that everyday Canadians and Americans have a lot in common. “Let’s concentrate on what unites us instead of what divides us” seems to be the message that the Haskell Free Library conveys; look beyond the buildings and you will notice how unique this place truly is.

DO NOT COME ALONE if you are not bilingual. I was the only English speaker at the time I came, and the tour guide decided that he would spent most of his time with other French speakers, speaking, well, French. It is understandable why it was like that since there was a lot more French speakers than me, and others do deserve to be served, but it still sucks for me, since I effective got a tour in a language that I do not understand. DO NOT COME ALONE if you are not billingual, since you might just be ignored. Come as a group instead.
