There are some decent souvenirs here but what is off putting is the older gentleman who works there. He gave me a hard time about wanting a new magnet that wasn’t the display one then wanting a small paper bag for my postcard so it didn’t get scratched up with my other stuff (since I was keeping it as a souvenir). He proceeded to tell me I was being wasteful and then reluctantly gave me the paper bag (which is recyclable unlike plastic bags). There are plenty of places to get Banff and Lake Louise commemorative souvenirs so I recommend steering clear of this place.

Fantastic bookstore. I had never stopped in until this past weekend when it was quiet. Assuming it was a standard gift shop, but was wrong. Had a great chat with the owner who is passionate about his business and bought few children's books and cool paintings he gets custom made. Support him!! Prices are NOT inflated because he is in the chateau!

Bought a painting and was told it would be mailed. Waited and waited and finally called. The owner was horrible rude. They sold the painting I bought and had to get another made by the artist. Is that fraud or what?
