This library is amazing! Very beautiful, a little noicey and a lot of kids, but overall, very nice place. Good selection of books aswell! Definatly recomend if you want to just stay and read or check out books!!!

Close by and helpful staff! The new design is gorgeous, open and sunny. Speaking as a single young adult, it’s really too bad about all the people in the reviews complaining about the presence of children. It’s a beautifully designed space with a reading/play area for kids and tables by the south windows with outlets for students. If you’re looking for a sunny and inspiring place to work, this is it, but if you’d rather study in a stuffy dark quiet library then maybe try the university.

The new library looks great but it is very noisy. I have come here 4 times and it's as loud as sitting a mall or restaurant. I remember a time when a library was where you could go to read or study, hopefully we see a change in the future.

Because I know what the new library is going to look like, I will not comment on this libraries appearance. The staff are very helpful and informative. Getting my library card was a breeze and they shared some additional information with me to get me started. There is a good selection of books, DVDs, and magazines here. I hope with the new building that they will expand their DVD selection as my son likes borrowing DVDs from the library.

Thinking of a library I imagine a super quiet place with people reading, studying.. here and there you can hear the sound of a page being turned and a door being open... If you are like me and want to enjoy such a place, than new Transcona library, unfortunately, is not an option! It is new and nice looking, but WAY TOO NOISY. So many parents with toddlers and babies.. It looks more like an indoor playground where parents bring their kids to spend time. I am very disappointed! I was expecting it to open to be able to study, but will need to look up for some other options..

The hours suck for being able to study, by the time you’re done school/work it’s already closing and not even open for the full weekend when most people are studying. It’s also so noisy, there should be separate area where children can play because it’s very distracting. There are not enough tables in this library.

Great modern library with self checkout, email receipts and reminders. Book selection on site is limited but remember you can put a hold for any book within the Winnipeg Library network and it will be delivered free of charge to the library of your choice. I'm not sure how the other library's handle this process but the Transcona library makes it so simple that you can locate and check out your book in minutes without needing to interact with anyone. Parking has never been an issue but when leaving the library keep in mind you can only go west on Transcona Blvd and will have to do a U-Turn or cut through the parking lot of the shops if you wanted to go east. If you are looking for a quiet place to study unfortunately this is not an option here as it's very loud with the open concept design.

Noisy The staff were very nice! The only reason I give it two stars is because it is very noisy. The modern design makes it echo. Plus there's a play area for kids right in the middle of the library.. no walls to seal off the screaming or the toys rattling.

Very nice building, but it's hardly open. Closed 3 days a week, and then really short hours when it is opened??!!! That's really really unfortunate. Better to almost not have it

The library is beautiful; however, the noise is INSANE!!!! It's not quiet AT ALL!! They have tutorial rooms you can book out which is nice, but the noise still comes through the rooms. People don't try to be quiet and the staff don't make the effort to make it a quiet place. The play section for children is also in the centre of the library... so that is also quite loud. There are a lot of field trips to the library for students, which adds to the chaos. It's really unfortunate because the space is beautiful, but if you want to come here to get work done, study, or simply read....good luck!

I had high hopes for this new, beautiful library. My first time studying there (and the last time!!!) was complete chaos. I didn’t know library’s were a place for screaming children while adults were trying to get some QUIET studying done. Not impressed and will not be going back. Also, lack of parking is extremely inconvenient as well as being closed on a Sunday or all days...

This library is unfortunately not a place for students looking for a quiet place to study. It is loud and geared towards children. It is disappointing that this library is so poorly designed because it had so much potential. If you can study in the midst of loud children running around with parents screaming after them - this is the place for you. I'll just keep driving to my school.

The Transcona library is a very nice place, but unfortunately there is no edict taught to younger patrons, its very unruly for the students and people trying to read and get school work done. where are the parents and or teachers??
