Washrooms consistantly dirty and occupied by junkies. Weekly instances of tweaker freakouts requiring the police. Rude and agressive security. If you're not there for boardgames than the Rutland or University libraries are cleaner and calmer.

Lovely place for people who love to read and relax in a quiet environment. If you are resident here you can get the library card for free, check out on their website to see what to bring with you when you come to apply for a library card. It’s quick and hassle-free. Also, there’s an online app to borrow books, which is preferable in my opinion.

Beautiful library. Many fond memories bringing my children when they were tiny to storytime and then lego club and always filling out their charts for reading challenges and then hours waiting for them to search for their chapter books and videos, this library has met our needs as our family has grown and we are very thankful for it!

Truly a beautiful library with a huge selection of print and digital items available to borrow. An inspirational location for studying or reading with giant windows and the central atrium open to below. There is even a cool little play area for kids.

A beautiful building right downtown. The online catalogue is large and its super easy to order the books for pickup. I use the library all the time, and besides for late fees it's really nice. I had one book that I had to pay for because they thought I damaged it. I didn't bother arguing about it. But that's 1 out of hundreds I've taken out.

I love this place! The Kelowna Public Library is a wonderful place to visit. They are always getting new books in that I am looking for. They also have old classics. The building looks modern even though it was built 15+ years ago . It is large, spacious and quiet.

We moved to Kelowna last August and love to read and so, due to COVID 19, I went on line and applied for membership to the library for myself and my husband. So easy! Even for an ‘old girl’. I’ve been enjoying the virtual library ever since. Needed an “actual book” and went into your incredible library on Ellis Street today. A very kind young woman helped me to find the book I had reserved, and I then went to the desk and was issued a card for my wallet. Everyone was so supportive and friendly. Thank you, so much. Dear students: if y'all are looking into a study space that has a quiet, chill, roomy, and a "focus-driven" atmosphere, the public downtown library is where you would want to bring your books, laptop, and notes. Granted, it's not a huge public library (if you were to compare it to Vancouver's Public Library) but Kelowna's ORL is great enough if you're looking for something different! Head upstairs to the second floor and sit by the windows facing Ellis St. To me, those art paintings by the wall positively contribute to the overall atmosphere of the studying area. There's wall sockets underneath the window tables for you to plug in your phone, laptop, or whatever it is. Eduroam WiFi in the area + ORL's WiFi is also available. There are printers and meeting rooms on the west side of the second floor meeting rooms.

I've seen the same person in the bathroom, obviously doing drugs, for multiple hours without being checked on. I fall asleep for 2 minutes because I suffer from narcolepsy and I'm threatened to be banned. Really doing us a public service. Thank you for all your hard work.

Extremely nice library and a great place to read and study. Free WiFi, plugs, and plenty of tables makes it a perfect spot to bring your laptop and study. The library offers paid printing, computers for use to the public (requires a library card), and a very, very wide selection of books and other things.

Not a very quite place to go if you are looking for somewhere to study. Children were running around screaming and the person near me was talking on his phone for the majority of the time I was here. The building is nice though and sometimes it is quiet enough to focus.

The ORL Downtown is amazing. The building itself is gorgeous and I love that ID with my address got me a library card for free. I’ve attended two big events at the library recently - a workshop by Royal Roads University upstairs in the big multi-purpose room, and last night a gala fundraiser for a local non-profit. The main floor of the library was turned into a dance floor under beautiful patio lights. Food, wine, and dancing. Who can resist partying the library? A lovely building with a forward thinking board & staff.

Throw away all ideas of a musty dark library. This gorgeous building is full of light and life. Lots of community outreach programs such as boardgame nights, spanish lessons, and DnD. The staff were very friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Don't forget you can now steam videos using your library card so drop by and pick one up today!
