Great ole library with its antique books and common rooms. A place of relaxation and content.

Not the world's best holdings for my field of study, but a decent collection nonetheless. Archives & Special Collections' hours could use some work though - it'd be nice, as a person with a 9 - 5 job, to be able to go when I'm not on vacation. But otherwise it's a great facility, and I love the upgrades they've had since I graduated the first time in 2006.

I'm a researcher. I traveled 140 km within the province to visit this library yesterday, but when I arrived there, the lady who was seemingly in charge, didn't even let me have a look at the library or even let me have a temporary access to the library catalogue. That was very disappointing. PS: I called the library the day before I traveled and asked the staff on the phone if I could come and see the library and check the catalogue.

Since the signs have been added to the bathroom doors, it’s been hard to determine if someone is in there or not because so many people don’t use them correctly. I was in the bathroom with the sign on closed. A staff member barged in, did NOT knock. I said “bathroom is taken” and she proceeded to open every single stall until she got to mine and I forced the door closed because the lock was broken. I screamed “this is why the sign says CLOSED” and she said oops sorry and left. This gave me a panic attack and got PTSD from this situation because of another prior one years back that happened to me. When I told the lady at the front desk she did not seem sincere about it. Then the lady that actually opened the door excused it as “oh those doors always say closed when there not” and gave me another insincere apology. I told her the right way to enter. If it’s closed and you noticed it has been for a while and you don’t think someone is in the bathroom you KNOCK first. Then you stick your head in and say hello a few times. Not barge in the bathroom and start kicking in stall doors. So inappropriate for a staff member to not even knock on a bathroom door that states someone is in there. No she didn’t wait outside the door before coming in either, I heard the stair well doors open and then she immediately came into the bathroom. I’m extremely mad that this happened because it should not have.

Very nice relatively quite place to study.

Relatively quiet however there are sometimes meetings on the floor in a room right next to the quiet area which can be frustrating.

It is probably tied with my two other most favourite places on the planet: Gym, Aitken Centre Rink and the Harriet Irving Library : The staff is amazing and I spent years there writing my book- Goodnight Paul. The Journey to My NHL:Living the Dream. It’s the best library with the most amazingly helpful staff! I love it!

Beautiful library full of knowledge and cool old articles.

Incredible collection of books and great environment. Newspapers are down below in the basement on microfilm and there really is a vast collection.includng some from the 1800s. Coffee shop is right there and has decent coffee (including espresso) and lots of seats, also outside, and you can bring your own or buy something there. Food selection is minimal. Highly recommend this library.
