Probably my favourite library in the city. Great selection of research material, beautiful design, nice and big. I like the downstairs basement area as well with the fountain (to my memory).
Would recommend sending kids here to study!
good
The TPL Bloor Gladstone location has the many trademarks expected from a public library - many books, magazines, events, online workshops, and more with the advantage of a much larger space. The layout is easy to navigate for meetings or events with 3 floors for your viewing pleasure. Social distancing is respected and masks must be worn upon entering with hand sanitizers available.
An amazing resource. Helpful staff. Friendly atmosphere. Lots of computers.
Top!
My favourite library in the city. So much space and beautiful natural light! For me, it’s a great study location, but it’s also an important space in our community for people to seek a cool refuge during these hot days! I’m so glad they’re finally able to reopen.
One of the best public Library branches in Toronto.
First built in the early 20th century when high ceilings and big windows were a must, and then extended this century, it's a pleasant place to sit and read, find books/CDs/DVDs, take kids for a story reading. Hooray for public libraries!
Great place for computers!
I like this library. It's nice to sit by the window and stare at the signs for Orjes Hair Salon and Jerk King. The seats are comfortable. That's why you find sleeping people at this branch. Sometimes the children downstairs are loud. That's when it's a good time to leave the library. Mostly, I like the window and the chairs. When the reno was new, the bathroom was amazing. Now, the bathroom is just a bathroom. Funny how bathroom perception changes over time.
Clean, bright, lots of seating, friendly staff!
Looks good on the outside.
This is an awesome library. They have a great set up which makes the library super usable. It's beautiful inside (and outside) which makes it a pleasure to spend a day studying inside.
I love that I can just sit and charge my phone while browsing g+. Decent Wi-Fi.
Gorgeous location with a mix of old and new architecture that is a sight to behold. Generally speaking it's a pleasant space to peruse the stacks for books, DVDs, CDs, audiobooks, and more, and occasionally, I've been to this location for outside events that are very well organized. Most of the time, the staff is warm and friendly, though I knocked off a point for the occasional weird encounters at the front desk, such as when one staff member asked if it was an alien on the button on my jacket, and when I said, "no, it's a panda," he went on to say how great aliens were. Weird, right? But generally, speaking I've enjoyed my visits here. Sometimes there are homeless people in the library sitting on couches and generally minding their own business, but I have experienced a time when one of them created a huge scene because there was a young child crying on the first floor and then he got upset when the librarians reprimanded him, claiming that people picked up him more than other visitors to the library. His yelling was way more disruptive than the child's crying. Another time, someone was sleeping and loudly snoring, but it was more something to laugh about than cause for concern. ;) Sometimes the wireless internet is out for the entire library, or so slow that it might as well be though.
Excellent place to cool down during the summer heat! As a friendly reminder: Don't read and drive! (see photo)
Gear staff.
(Translated) Disinfectants are installed everywhere, there are guards, and masks are thoroughly worn. The restroom was also relatively clean. The librarian will politely help you if you ask what you don't understand. I think the children's library corner is wider than other public libraries. This time I stopped by to print the documents. There is a copy machine, but if you want to print from USB, make a reservation for using the PC to the librarian (it was possible to use it after 20 minutes), proceed to the print screen on the PC, click print → tell the librarian, copy machine Print with. It was my first time, but the kind librarian taught me carefully and I was grateful.
Love the different levels of natural light. Less up the back, more at the front. Get there early though.. There aren't a lot of decent sized desks!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Great selection of books. Comfortable atmosphere.
Somewhat recently renovated. The service at TPL Gladstone is always fantastic. There isn't always room to sit.
A great space. Here we had a conversation classes for several months. By #CultureLink Community .Thanks dear Elizabeth, Oliver and Zac
This library has undergone renovations. Lots of space to study, and to sit. It can get out at times, as the rotunda is echo-ey
This library is located in a good area within walking distance from the subway, shopping centre, bus routes, restaurants, and other local business. There are plenty of bike racks along the streets and parking nearby. Tim Hortons is just across the street! The library has two floors with everything you need to study effectively! The staff are always available to help and a security guard is constantly walking around to ensure safety. Although I wish there were more seating and study spaces, I enjoy going here to get my work done!
Nice, library is closed,I am at the Timmie across the street, just using their free wifi,.
Excellent teachers that truly care. They will 100% make you a better driver and pass your driving tests
My favorite library! Nice ambiance
This is a pretty good library. It is fairly well renovated, clean and has multiple floors. They have a decent collection of book and lots of computers available to use.
extremely modern design with the windows. big tables and various seating types (tables, stools, and turn chairs). variety of books and a relatively big and clean bathroom. (can be a tad bit echoey/loud though.)
(Translated) 【For Japanese】 It is a 3-storey public library. The Wi-Fi and power supply are complete and it's perfect for working. There is a powered table on the second floor, and there are many people working with laptops open right after the opening. Eating and drinking is OK for public libraries in Toronto. As usual, users bring in a lunch box and do reading and PC while eating. Take off at the Tim Hortons across the library and have fun while eating, drinking and eating. It is the best environment for nomad workers, since nobody says anything from opening to closing. It is larger than "Toronto Public Library-Palmerston Branch" located 2 Higashi Gawa Stations, and it has a large work space and is recommended. There is a separate toilet for men and women on the ground floor. As homeless people sometimes stay for a long time, be careful about the management of valuables. Note: In summer, air conditioning is stronger, so it is more comfortable to wear something.
The Gladstone Library is a legendary library in downtown Toronto on Bloor Steet West by Dufferin Street. The original architecture is late-19th Century and recent expansions with rich, dark wood and modern lighting and divisions of space make it an ideal space for studying, browsing and relaxing from the heat .
Large comfortable atmosphere, central location, helpful staff
Although I haven't visited Gladstone in a long while I have fond memories of the library. It's location is convenient (beside Dufferin Subway) and close to shops and restaurants etc. Always had an amazing amount of books (especially fiction) and resources and at first I wasn't too enamoured with the renos but they quickly grew on me. Lots of great areas in the library to read. When I visit the city I try to pop in for a look! Great library and if you haven't visited it yet, be sure to check it out.
Wonderful exterior and interior. Can't believe this is a common public library!
Good location
ssssssssssssh
I love this library. But you have to take care of your belongings because someone stole my bag while reading. Theft is quite common due to no camera inside the reading space. Staffs are really good and supportive.
This library is located close to transit (both subway & bus) so it's accessible. Lots of large table space for group work, and bookable rooms is you prefer to work alone. Free computer and wi-fi access (even if you don't have a library card) are positive attributes as well!
A godsend to have a beautiful library so close
Big and clean, always a place to sit for work or study

Helpful and nice people here
Great service to the community who enjoy to be bookworm, thanks Toronto.
Beautiful library. Lots of work space with plenty of outlets for your laptops. Large clean washrooms and pleasant staff make for an enjoyable study spot.
The is one of the bigger libraries in west downtown. There are multiple floors of books and computer work stations. Good place to get some work done or read.
Great renovated library. Many different kinds of spaces - private quiet ares, group study, computer lab, lounge chairs, great kids section with interactive wall for young ones and a multipurpose room. The caregiver and tot program was well done. It is also accessible.
Mostly quiet. Except when their are kids around.
i lose sense of time when i go there very organaized and well maintained
It's nice to leave my house and study/work in a nice bright, open, and quiet environment. Best of all, it's free! Lots of space with a variety of seating options. Avoid sitting by the windows during the witer, they classic/original glass is NOT a good insulator. I'm not a reader, so I can't comment on their selection of books etc.
All computer station can be updated & upgraded with faster Software
5 star if you can enclose the kid area, so noisy
Nice and quiet place to study.
3 years later reflecting back. Gladstone library has aggressive security. Like being a tourist, visiting a country in the midst of a war that you could find yourself caught up in; I’d rather visit a county that isn’t in a war, much nicer experience. I never went back - Original review - I now go to a different library. Too many strange folk who want to complain about anything about you. And too many bored security folk ready to grump at you. I now go to a nice reasonably quiet library with no security. We all live at peace there. Not so much at Bloor/Gladstone.
I didn't had a good experience there, the staff was not very friendly and helpful.
Very friendly staff
Amazing renovation, beautiful architecture and interior. Well designed space with everything you need from a library. One if my favorite Toronto indoor public spaces.
I love the natural light and cool architecture of the building but lately it’s not enough to keep me coming back. I used to enjoy coming to this spot to work but now often it’s used by homeless people to hang out/ sleep here during the day. I know this review sounds mean but it’s hard concentrate while someone is snoring loudly and farting loudly in their sleep next to you. I wish the city made a better effort at dealing with the current homeless crisis that Toronto has.
Need more bigger libraries. Hard to study when crowded
They are kind and explain everything well. Thank you????
Looks bigger from the outside but overall with renovation it looks great
The librarians at this location are the worst. They're rude, impatient, and unhelpful. EVERY other library I've been to in TO (and that's a lot) is great but I hate going to this location because I always think I'm imposing on them
Accessible and modern with extensive facilities, but has a relative lack of proper study surfaces.
Nice spot
Beautifull
Great building, awesome collection, terrific borrowing services and great for printing as well.
Nice and neat. Very helpful staff
A nice atmosphere with a lot of resources and quiet spaces to work or read.
Great place & helpful staff!
One of the nicest TPL branches, a good place to work.
If you live in Toronto, do not miss being a member and enjoying the variety of books and fun activities TPL offers!
My experience at this library was soo weird I had to write about it. Went in on a Saturday to get a museum pass, was waiting in line abit as someone was ahead so I decided to check out the kids area as I always do at every library,I have a 2 year old son and have taken him to quite a few libraries across the city. As we went to the kids area like any normal child to play but all the parents were in the kids area just conversing so the child couldn't even play there. Ok next area to the table went tgere to play some random kids start to call my child weird. Mom just sat there with a weird smile like o.k., at thus point I wanted to get my pass and go. Went back in line hit my pass to leave so a staff ask if I'm getting through said what I want, then a next guy came to me asking the same thing. At this point I became confuse if I was in a public library for all or a private club that I just crashed. It got really weirder when instead of allowing the person at the desk where I was patiently waiting in line I had three person trying to get one free pass shouting across the floor to me what on my pass or what I couldn't get with my card. Sooo awkward and uncomfortable. Will NEVER bring my child there again and I really don't want to go back either.
