A really nice selection of books and really nice looking layout. It's a small library, but it is quite well maintained and has a nice vibe to it! The staff is also very nice and easily accessible from the bus stop as well!

Modern, quiet library with a beautiful architectural design. Excellent spot for quiet solo or group study. Also right beside a major public transit route, and has plenty of room for bike parking.

Well maintained and very nice staff to help you out. This is a local small library but it has a nice vibe to it. Not a big selection of books but I enough shelves to walk around, get dusty and melancholy about the good old days. And then I sit down take out my kindle and read a book :)

Relaxing Unboxing

This is not a Library! It is a kindergarten... There are kids screaming, crying and running around all day long. That's because the kindergarten area is directly in the library. No wall separate that area from the rest of the library. For crying out loud (literally), someone needs to fix the noise issue at this location! Put a wall around the kindergarten area or move it completely! What a useless Library.

Great local library, helpful staff, good selection of books, movies and music CDs. It also has a good kids section. Lots of space and free wifi - once I found myself going there with my laptop to do some work while my house was getting renovated.

Honestly this is the worst library I went to EVER. Im only 11 and when I went there .... these girls took pictures of me and made fun of me. They were really stupid because i wasn't going to let myself down at all. I reported them and they got kicked out.

Good place to go, if you have nowhere to go. People book tutors and work with them loudly. Sometimes it is hard to concentrate. Staff is helpful though.

Decent Library but incredibly loud. Not sure why but there are babies crying all day, staff is rather loud with their book cart and their phone. The reference library is 40x this big and never this loud. If you need to concentrate, this isn't the right place unfortunately. Update: Don't come here between 4 and 6pm. It is filled with people sitting at study tables talking loud and not doing any work. Not what you'd expect from a library. Might as well work at Starbuck's - at least they sell coffee

Obnoxious people, short hours, apathetic staff, and a complete disregard that this is a LIBRARY plague the Burnhamthorpe Library. People are boisterous, and the majority of immigrant parents have NO control of their children (nor do they want to). This library is treated more like a playground than anything a library should be used for. It is VERY loud the second that daycare is over, but the Burnhamthorpe Library staff does not mind. The windows are covered in cobwebs and the venue is generally untidy. Their renovation cut the space in half while adding tons of needless stuff for a library, not to mention that it removed a lot of the good. I am embarrassed that this is my local library.

A good place to grab books or what you need. They also have a laser printer here, which is pretty neat. I came here to study a few times, but overall it's pretty noisy and distracting. Also it get pretty packed in the afternoon and evening. Overall, it's alright.

This library needs to bring a major discipline with respect to the noise in general. Every area whether quiet study or in main area people are inconsiderate of others and continue to speak loud and fail to realize that this is a LIBRARY FOR GOD SAKE. Event though it is a quasi Libary status with community center (big mistake) in my opinion since it loses the very essence of THE LIBRARY; Which traditionally should've only be The library. Majority of the kids that comes here those (under 18) allegedly to study are EXTREMELY LOUD even when they are studying. i cannot fathom the fact that infants and toddlers area is given such a huge section like seriously? What on earth are they thinking. Who made these decisions to alot such a huge section vs a meagre 2 quiet study room. Some one needs to re-assess this model. Jesus! How can any one study in this library with so much noise. What is wrong with people and lack of consideration for others who are actually here to Study. I give 1 star if it had an option of negative rating i would have! TAKE SOME ACTION PLEASE. this is suppose to be a peaceful learning place not a running playground for toddlers and parents or grandparents to walk them!! Thank you.

It is almost impossible to study here! The kids section is next to the silent study/group study sections. People always leave their kids here and have no respect at all for the noise levels. When you inform library staff about the disruptions nothing is done. I avoid this library now due to what it has become. This library used to be a convenience and its a shame to see what it is now.

Selection is OK, but usually I need to put things on hold and have them transferred to this branch before I can check them out. The self serve checkout is easy. The is plenty of seating in the back of the library for quiet studying. There is a nice area for kids to play and read. There are event rooms, and an early years center inside the building. There is also a live theater.

It is impossible to work here. The noise is unbearable. Management needs to reform this library ASAP. Perhaps this could be your 2020 objective: provide citizens with a proper library environment by reducing the noise level.

I love going to the library. Not many students use the library much anymore and it's hard to see that considering how much quite time you can get to study or even read a book they even have computer for study purposes only. Highly recommend everyone to start going to your local libraries just like Burnhamthorp library is local to me

Good location, however there are some things they could do to improve. They have a large children's section, but limited seating for parents. A lot of times, kids are running through the whole library, which does make it hard for those that are studying or just wanting quiet time to get it. They have several computers and offer rooms to use. If you need anything the staff is there, some are much more approachable then others as I have had some bad experiences with a few but overall most are wonderful. They have vending machines outside the main doors in case you need a little snack, but the issue is that some parents allow their children to leave garbage and half eaten food everywhere.

This library used to be my favorite place, but now the thieves are becoming so rampant that I cannot leave my stuff on the table even for 10 seconds, plus the library's security system is next to useless against these kind of things. Although I cannot put the blame solely on this library, because this country's laws are generally sympathetic towards criminals, thus putting law-abiding citizens like me at higher risk.

This is the most noisy library I have ever been to. People are chatting, playing poker, and teaching classes here. The staff will never show up. If you want to find a McDonald's who doesn't sell anything, this is a good choice, but if you want to go to a real library, stay away from it.

This library is amazing, walking distance from our house, lots of study space including a silent study room with views of the park. Spacious and plenty of seating room. The staff are what make it special some of them have been around for over 20 years always helping you and keeping the place feeling like a community.

This Library is a waste of space!! If you need a QUIET place to study PLEASE DONT GO THERE.!!! The amount of noise from people who are NOT there to study but to use the internet is ridiculous.. This library is a meeting place for "group home kids" who come here and use it as their community centre and living room, the amount of swearing from these people is scary.. No one does anything about it. CHILDREN RUN AND SCREAM THROUGH OUT THE LIBRARY...THE STAFF IS USELESS, LOUD AND RUDE... THEY ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.. There are way to many people who work here that DO NOTHING BUT WALK AROUND LOOKING BUSY.. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS LIBRARY ITS A AWFUL PLACE...

The library is so unreliable! Once I wanted to see the Maker Space that had opened. I was busy on the grand opening day, but had seen that there were open houses. I came one one of the days but the old lady that i talked to said that the grand opening was before and i had missed it. I told her about the open house but she said there were no open houses, When it clearly stated on the website that there was an open house that day. She also said that they did not have all of the items yet so even if there was one, you might not be able to use the one you needed. Another time, (several weeks later) I needed to use the pinback button maker, so i had gotten ready and was about to call about pricing, if the backing and vinyl came with it and what size of a button it would make. When i called the lady said that they STILL had not gotten the button maker and had to figure out pricing and if the accessories (backing/pin part and vinyl) would be extra. This was almost three months after the grand opening (July). If you are going to open something you know the public will use you should already have everything ready by the grand opening! I know that if you're getting things shipped it might take a while and it might not come by the grand opening, but still not a button maker available almost three months after the opening? Come on!

My kids really like this library. They have a puppet show area where the kids a can use their imagination and create a puppet show, they have some blocks to entertain little ones while the parents can sit and read a book. The times that I have gone in I haven’t heard any loud noises or people speaking loudly like the other reviews. It has always been a quiet place and I always make sure my kids are quiet to respect the other people studying or reading. The staff has been very helpful to myself and my kids when looking for books. I have also received books I had on hold quickly from this location. Great library!

The Library quite rooms are typing room now and no one can study in quite rooms. People are just doing their resume building and other personal commercial work there and computer noise is noticeable and so annoying . The Library need to build small cabin for students for silent study but common area is too noisy but management fail to do any action. The Library need a professional manager for decisions.

Pros - Free parking, 2 quiet study rooms with windows seats 5-6each, spacious single-seat workspaces with power plugs, clean, washrooms also clean, drinking fountain. Cons - No area to heat up or eat food. Noisy unless you are seated in the quiet study rooms or have noise-isolating/noise-cancellation earphones/soft ear plugs you can get cheap from Walmart or Shoppers. I think some people in these reviews forget a communal space like a public library is purposed for community well-being, not a personal study. I am grateful young parents have a safe air-conditioned place to bring their kids and that youth in our community have this same safe place to go to hangout.

Booked a study room for my son and his tutor for 6pm on the same day because that is the policy, gave my name to hold the room get there and the young man there was very helpful said my name wasn’t on the reserved list and he said sorry there has been a mixup then and older lady who works at a computer in the middle of the library was completly rude and said in a very rude manor ITS BOOKED and looked at me like I was crazy. She was an old European lady and I am Filipino it’s seemed to be that she was racist. I was completely appalled at her reacttion which was uncalled for. She shouldn’t be working there if she is unhappy, her bags under her eyes looked like she should just be home resting not doing evening shifts at the library.

Kids are crying and screaming all day long ; library phones and carts are continuously filling the space with noise. A serious "disciplinary policy" needs to be implemented here. It is virtually impossible to work, read or study at this library. Everyone in the working area is exasperated with the noise but nothing ever changes. This library fails our community as it is incapable to provide us with a quiet place to read, work and study. How many noise-related reviews will it take before they fix this issue?

The old Burnhamthorpe library before they made all the changes had much more private areas (less open concept) which gave more privacy for studying. Now the sound travels everywhere and everyone is in eye sight and within sound reach. It seems they do everything to bring more and more people into the other areas of the center. An all welcome atmosphere which brings crowds into the halls. This kills off the library atmosphere. Hence, they do not care about sounds. It is a come and go kind of place and a meet and greet.

Great Library. Spacious, ample seating, charging points and free car park. Haven't been able to the color printer yet (always in use in some room) but other amenities are available. Good place to start your kids on reading habits, with a nice area allocated for children and toys to keep then engaged
