It's clean, quiet, and the staff who work there are fair and friendly enough. I found this library to be quiet unique compared to other libraries, mostly due to its architectural design and the fact that it's mostly made up of glass. However, the library itself is very limited as to what you can do and what you're allowed to do, plus most disappointing is it's pack of books and/or reading material in general. It feels a lil' more like a cyber lounge rather then a public library. Still given the number of libraries within the Greater Vancouver Area and it's Tri Cities, with each one offering a lil' something different, the city just wouldn't be the same without it.

Excellent library, and huge! Lots of space to sit and study or read. There are even private small study rooms to use and computers to use as well. The staff are really helpful at this location if you are looking for anything in particular. The only inconvenience that I don’t care for with this library is the paid parking below, I don’t feel that you should have to pay for parking at the library.. they should offer free parking for those using the library.

Most beautiful library in the whole lower mainland. Gorgeous skylight allowing natural sunlight to pour in. The interior design is light, fresh and bright. The positive ambience is great for studying, and relaxing out. Centrally located next to Surrey Central skytrain station just tuck away a block from King George Blvd. Many amenities near by: Tim Hortons, Safeway, Take 5 cafe, Civic hotel, Surrey Central mall,....something for everyone. There’s a huge courtyard outside which is great for enjoying the sun too.

Beautiful library. Open space and big windows. Free parking is in the underground lot. Park anywhere you like, and then provide your license plate number near the entrance (ask front desk if you don't know where to record your license plate).

Although I like this library very much due to its huge building and lots of seating capacity for people, but the only concern is that the air conditioning is too high that its gets hard to sit for longer than 2 hours. I would request authorities to put on Air conditioning at room temperature because outside it's cold and library should be not so cold that it becomes difficult to sit . Summers are over please.

Usually awesome. But don't go during the 2 month xmas season if you need to concentrate or study. Playing loud, live xmas music at all levels of a library during finals is NOT what I was expecting. Libraries are supposed to be quiet.

STAFF THIEVES. I recently turned in a full backpack that i found outside, I didn't even look in it, this was around 4:30 pm sunday july 9, they didn't take my name or nothing as the finder, I wanted to give it to them in case no one claimed it, they wouldn't oblige, their policy is to wait for a period of time and if no one claims it they will keep i themselves whoever rummages through it or security will throw the stuff (i.e. the backpack) in garbage. MY ADVICE IF YOU FIND SOMETHING OF VALUE IN OR AROUND SURRY CENTRAL LIBRARY AREA, DON'T TURN IT IN TO THEM. EITHER KEEP IT OR DEPENDING ON THE VALUE TURN IT IN TO POLICE. JUST NOT SURREY LIBRARY STAFF.

This is one of my favorite places in all of Surrey. Here is why: 1. I can always find a place here to read, study, and tutor. Without this library I would not be able to tutor most of my students. 2. The staff have always been helpful and friendly when I've needed help with my account, booking a room, helping me when I accidentally water damaged a book and when my bike was stolen (note: lock your bikes with two locks, one of them a u-lock) 3. The library has a beautiful open concept and amazing architecture. 4. They regularly hold great events, main displays, and a variety of interesting programs. I loved hearing the Dads and Tots programs while I tutored. 5. The bathrooms are clean, modern and well maintained. 6. They have a great selection of books and are very fast in getting books from other branches for you. 7. I often find of about community events and programs through the library. 8. I can almost always access a computer. 9. They have affordable printing and their scanner on the second floor is amazing. 10. The location is ideally placed for transit and there is free parking close by at the North Rec Centre and City Centre Mall.

Best library, regularly going for more than 2.5 years...not even a single time got disappointed. Self checkout and self return counters are there for easy access, but even though the staffs are always really helpful even in this pandemic also.Very clean and perfectly organized library.

!!Please be aware of theft!! If you want to get your things stolen then you go surrey library. Worst place i ever seen in my life. They have no camera at many places in the library. I heard many stolen cases either cellphone, laptop or bag in a week or month.

Easily one of the best libraries in the lower mainland. It is quite new with lots of books DVD's CD's and various resources like free use of computers. Coffee shop inside. Clean modern and quiet makes it a heaven for those needing space for study, research or strengthening knowledge. It is an incredible resource center for everyone and for all ages. Special kids area with lots of books and sofas for kids reading. Very accessible right next to Surrey Central Skytrain Station. A tremendous public resource.

The city centre library is a beautiful study space. I personally find the architecture to be perfect for this space, as it creates a bright and clean place for most activities. Moreover, this library offers modern amenities including charging ports, wifi and fast computers. These elements help to create a pleasant environment that helps me focus. That being said, the library does have it’s drawbacks. It can be difficult to find a quite study space due to the lax enforcement of behaviour. A lot of patrons like to have loud conversations, while various events (Christmas performances & conferences) convert the library into an event hall. Finally, the restrooms are often dirty. However, I don’t believe that this is the fault of staff. This library evidences how beautiful architecture and modern amenities can not makeup for the poor behaviour of the people that use them.

I love going to this library. They have a great selection of books, including academic books. I wish they had more philosophy, but I've always found something great to read. The staff is always available and very helpful. The self-checkout makes it easy to stop in quickly. I always get a book put on hold very fast (sometimes within a few hours).

Very few books and seating compared to library size, limited parking space, you have to register for 3 hour free parking, circulation staff is not friendly at all, check ahead the condition of the item you borrow, specially if self checked-out because if it was damaged in-library by somebody else they will charge you when you return it, staff members are not proactive

These days one needs a degree for almost everything. Here, once again, it is proven that a degree does not equal intellect neither good manners. Some of the individuals at the book check-out counter is in serious need of an attitude adjustment. A door knob has more usefulness than this bunch. Customer service is surely a dying art. Teach them some manners and customer service etiquette. Thank goodness one does not need the library for reading materials as other options are available.

Attended a workshop here and had a great experience. Location is acessible with 2 hrs parking for free in the basement. The building design is very nice with natural light coming from the outside making it very bright inside and good for reading. Books are well organized and properly layed out and finding something is very easy with minimal effort you just look around leading you to your destination. Public transport is not a problem it is located in a major university belt and busses, trains and taxis are abundabtly available during their hours of operation throughout the day. Wifi is unlocked and available within the vicinity of the library with strong signal even at the corner of the building. Security is very good with roving guard found inside and outside the building. Internet and computer use is free. The best place to visit for book worms and info hunters who prefer the traditional way of finding information through books.

Perhaps hyperbolic a statement, but this is hands down the best library I've visited. Amenities are absolutely stellar with multiple help desks, a wide selection of material in various formats, and even private rooms and listening booths for quiet study sessions or those with sensory challenges. Staff are helpful and friendly, and the spacious design is modern and very accommodating to any and all visitors. I would highly recommend coming here, especially if you are a literature buff in need of material for school, work, or your own leisure. 10/10.

Spent few hours with my kids and they really enjoyed their time. This is one of the better libraries I've been to. Residents of Surrey are so lucky to have such a nice place like this. There's a cafe if you get hungry and it's next to the city hall and plaza where things are happening all the time. I really love the decor inside too.

It's a beautiful library to walk into and the selection of books is diverse. There are always a few people sitting and reading at all times of day and the library is well connected to the internet with free wifi and computer terminals. The cafe inside is nice to use on a cold day, though the food can be a bit bland.

My understanding of library was that a library is a quiet study area at least partly. That belief was shattered today. I was studying in the library today and a man was loudly speaking on the phone just behind me. It was extremely distracting. I complained about it to an employee with suggestion that they should ask the person to be less distracting. To my surprise I learned that my understanding of library was entirely flawed as the employee informed of that people can speak loudly and there is no requirement or suggestion that people be quiet and respectful to others using the library. I was also learned that the concept of library has changed dramatically and the 'library' is kind of a social gathering place or something similar to an event hall. I asked the employee what the difference between a coffee shop where people can speak loudly and a library, I was told that there is not much. While I understand it is not an academic library, at least a couple of floors should be designated as quiet study areas and advise people not to socialize in quiet areas. only thing I cannot fathom is why the building is called 'library' if it was intended as a social gathering venue. I believe that the building must be named as Surrey Social Gathering Venue or "Event Hall". Thank you Surrey Libraries - City Centre Branch for enlightening me today that lots of things changed in the concept of library in a very short period and next time I'll come to the 'library' with the acceptance that the City Centre Branch is anything but library.

TERRIBLE HOURS! The library needs to be open at 9 a.m every morning until 9 p.m every day! We need to keep these services alive...when most students need the library it is closed...the hours on the weekend are an insult to the paying public...if you want to clean up the society and keep kids out of trouble you have to be accessible on fridays, saturdays and sundays and not just cater to government employees....

It is hands down the best library I've visited and I've been going there regularly from past 3 years now and have never had an issue. Ut has great facilities and I love the staff here they are always so friendly and helpful. Although today when i went there i was at the welcome desk and this lady was really rude. She didn't help me and said my account had errors and needed an Id verification which I'd already done in January and knew that u just have to do it once in the year (as told by a staff member) and she said I also had overdue fines which I already paid for so other than that I really recommend this place and I love the rest of the staff but the only reason I felt the need to write this was because she really agitated me with everything and I've been at enough libraries and met a lot of great librarians and she wasn't one who knew the job of librarian.

P A R K I N G - you need to change your signage for where to pay parking . First it's hard to spot, Second, pay parking is no longer in main lobby- it is at City Hall ( on the other side of parking lot). Very frustrating!

Absolutely terrible in multiple regards. 1) The library is incredibly loud and noisy. Good luck reading anything or getting any work or studying done. There is a small "quiet area" that is cramped and people still refuse to be quiet even inside it. 2) The selection of books is tiny compared to the other libraries in Surrey. For such a large project that cost millions of dollars, there should be at least as many books as the decades old Guilford library location. 3) All the washrooms are always closed save for the ones on the first floor. Perhaps they should expand security or at least have the courage to kick out unwanted people instead of punishing everyone else. 4) Relating to point 3, there are always numerous homeless individuals who are drunk it clearly intoxicated stumbling around the library at all hours. To prevent them from doing drugs in the washrooms, they've closed off all of the washrooms except the ones on the first floor. 5) The security guards are incompetent and don't know how to escort people off of the premises. Loud and flagrant individuals are allowed to spoil the atmosphere for everyone. 6) Also, the workers in this library are the rudest ones I've ever had the displeasure of seeing. It's offensive to the staff that they would be asked for help by library guests. Disgusting. 7) There are numerous individuals lounging around, sleeping, cuddling, inside the library whenever I visit there. Perhaps put up a sign that says no cuddling and no sleeping. Children come to this library en masse and don't need to be exposed to such explicit displays of public affection. Stay away from this library. Go to the one in Guilford or Newton instead. The city spent $20 million for this?

Nice big library. Apparently there's free parking underground. I looked. Didn't know where to park, so i left. Usually go to Guildford branch. Lots of free parking at other library locations.

It’s a bit chilly inside so always bring a sweater or soft scarf. Staff are knowledgeable and attentive, the bulletin boards are updated frequently, and the displays rotate with different local events and history pop-ups. Clean rooms for renting and lots of charge ports and desks on all 4 levels. Free parking, free wifi, and a cafe right inside by the entrance. I love this library!

Modern library, no doubt, but if you go after 6pm any day of the week, there’s only one open washroom at the ground floor. All the washrooms at the upper floors are closed for “maintenance”. They forced the public (taxpayers) to use a “filthy” public washroom.

I always had good experience here until today. I needed to scan some documents, over 20 pages in total. I went to ask one of the librarian there how to scan, since i never scan anything at the library. She didnt show me, but instead she was like “just put everything together, scan all at once.” I told her that I need to scan separately cos I need to save them in few different files.” Also because, there are many pages so I dont want to mess them up. Then she was like “ok whatever.” OMG so rude. Then I spent like 5 mins to figure out how to scan stuff, so at the end, I couldn’t save all of the files. And when it reached 15mins, the computer logged me out and deleted all files. So I logged back in and rescanned the docs (of course I knew there was noone else waiting for the scanner, that why I logged back in). But then that woman came over and started yelling at me like “Excuse me do u know u can only use for 15mins? We only have 1 scanner and u have to let other people use it too, can u read the sign said 15 mins per person? ...I told you to scan all together...” OMG SOOOO RUDEE!!! She said it loudly so other people could hear too, in the Library?!? arent we supposed to keep it quiet in library ? And also i already made sure noone was waiting for the scanner before i logged back in, tbh the whole floor at that time only have 3-4 people sitting around. And yes, I can read the sign m, it said 15 mins per session, not per person. And it was not like she owes the scanner, but the way she talked to me like i was begging for her favor or something...

Excellent structure and beautiful facility . Surrey library systems are top notch ! Parking can be cumbersome and the only concern is the transient population in the area.

Love this library! Not only is it big and beautiful, it has a lot of activities for families. We are here at least once/week, if not more. Baby and Toddler Storytimes are excellent. Mara is a wonderful librarian, who really invests in the little ones and their early education. They even have seasonal storytimes for male caregivers and their kids!

Excellent architecture work Nice place for study ???? in what way you want (silent rooms, group discussions room,general study area,books sections, free computer access for 30 minutes) Can borrow books,papers,DVD etc They have some free English leArning classes but need registration before you actually attend. Arrange some job fairs, bulletin board with lots of information about coming jobs ,events,volunteer opportunities etc Small canteen in library ???? so no need to go out and library has something for group of age.
