(Translated) the children are shouting in this library and nobody dares to go and tell them to keep quiet, to have the slightest respect is very difficult because the employees do not seem to be aware that in ANY other library it is AT LEAST WHISPERED. impossible to study except in the room of silence, in which there are only two tables .. never place to sit in this room which seems to indicate that people WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO STUDY IN SILENCE. an employee called me autistic with Tourette syndrome which seems to me to be an extremely inappropriate comment. VERY noisy place no security guard to tell young people not to shout or run. pretty library is me it's really damn damn .. zero relaxing. Endroit TRÈS bruyant aucun agent de sécurité pour dire aux jeunes de ne pas crier ou de ne pas courir. jolie bibliothèque m'est c'est vraiment le foutu bordel.. zéro reposant.

Very vast building with a library, a small café and auditorium-like room. There seems to be a lot of activities going on, looking at the announcement board. The building is LEED certified and certainly looks nice. The staff was very pleasant.

Beautiful renvovation of an ugly brutalist building. Friendly helpful staff. Excellent service, particularly reserving books from other branches in the system. But I'm old-fashioned. A library is not a garderie nor a community centre. It should provide an environment peaceful enough that reading is possible. That is sometimes not the case here.

As a tourist I visited the branch. My allowance was 15 minutes. The staff laughed and discussed me with my back towards them and I witnessed them talk about me towards another staff members back. They made a likely snide, hateful remark because someone else was in their presence. I used around 8 minutes over their allowed time, their was no meter to keep me within their limit, and they let their time run over by their own accords. A person spoke to me from behind, and nagged, pointed to her clock face. Noone else waited, or required to use the overran facility. They clocked that the visitor had been "in" the building, for forty five minutes when it was actually 34. I sat down, to browse in my ipad first, in another area. The Wifi failed to connect. The person clocked how long it was since the visitor walked in. The visitor asked if they could leave, but they did not indicate that the visitor could.

Now that the framework is conducive and welcoming, it would be important to work on increasing the number of titles, some sections seem quite lacking. More specialist / scientific titles would be appreciated. (Original) La bibliothèque Saul-Bellow a réussi à moderniser le concept de bibliothèque en rendant le cadre agréable et invitant, et en transformant un endroit autrefois austère en lieu de vie et de rencontres (entre individu et leur livre, mais également entre individus). L'une des belles bibliothèques de Montréal. Il y a une section réservée pour ceux qui veulent rester au silence (accès libre) et quatre salles de travail collaboratif (sur réservation avec votre carte de la bibliothèque). Le personnel est souriant et aidant. Comme dans un café, où vous pourriez lire et travailler, il est possible de consommer boisson et aliments, tant que cela n'est pas dérangeant. Après les fleurs, le pot. Maintenant que le cadre est propice et avenant, il serait important de travailler à augmenter le nombre de titres, certaines sections semblent assez dépourvues. Plus de titres spécialisés/scientifiques seraient appréciés.

I does what is needed of it .... staff usually kind and very helpful to both English and French Montrealers so no complaints from me. It is small but you can order a book from any branch on the Island within a few days. I have not tried the WiFi or asked the library system to get/but a book they do not have (I love the BAnQ for that!!) Have some nice HARD chairs to sit on, an expensive little restaurant and a few chess tables. All in all 5 stars for now ..... or pretty much close to it. Will let all know if I get some bad services. A+☺

Amazing library with a futuristic vibe. You can get ipads, laptops, quiet rooms, teamwork rooms and more. There’s even a small coffee shop with breakfast and snacks and a lot of random nice features like big pillows and chest table. Go there to study, work for school or even simply have a good and relaxing time.

Nice renovated building, but they seemed to forget that it's supposed to be a LIBRARY. Very noisy and echo-y space, except for the few isolated study spaces. They could have at least added some carpets or sound absorbing panels.... Feels like you're in a cafeteria, even when no one is talking

It's a shame that the Lachine library has no quiet corners where one can sit & enjoy a good book without being distributed by people talking loudly or other disturbances. The only way to get away is by entering a sterile room devoid of the comfort & warmth of libraries of bygone eras. The library it replaced was MUCH quieter and more comfortable. It too had its flaws but quiet and comfort we're not among them.

This library is so loud. Kids screaming and banging in the windows to the quiet room. The security guard does not ask people to stop yelling, just walks around. I suggest you get a book and read it elsewhere, or do you studying at home. Libraries are suppose to be quiet, not the case here!!!!

A new mentality in the use of the library which is not comparable elsewhere in the network. Courteous employees who are always available. A library well equipped in terms of IT, obviously a Wi-Fi service with Cisco terminals (the best) and magnificent windows that give an unimaginable quality of light. I love it, I spend hours and hours of study in this refuge of knowledge. Une nouvelle mentalité dans l'utilisation de la bibliothèque qui n'est pas comparable ailleurs dans le réseau. Des employés courtois et toujours disponibles. Une bibliothèque bien équipé au niveau informatique, évidement un service de Wifi avec des bornes Cisco (les meilleurs) et une fenestration magnifique qui donne une qualité de lumière inimaginable. Je l'adore, je passe des heures et des heures d'étude dans cet refuge du savoir.

This library is amazing. Great rooms to rent, access to laptops and a little coffee/sandwich shop. ALTHOUGH, every single time I come to this library I have some sort of issue with the staff. I am a student and am friendly, nice and respectable. The past four times I have come to study here (I am a nursing student), the staff has given me attitude and a VERY hard time. Whether it be because one time I forgot my wallet and didn't have my library card (they threatened to disable my account) or because I rented a room and they had double booked it, they barged in and told me (with attitude) to leave, an hour before my time was up. I could go on and on with other past experiences, but I won't bore you. THIS LIBRARY NEEDS A SERIOUS MAKEOVER WITH THE STAFF.
