I'm a loyal fan of the KPL but one thing is for sure is that the KPL could learn from the Idea Exchange about how to incorporate art museums into their buildings. The Idea Exchange does this in amazing ways.

Always a welcome place to visit. Great atmosphere with terrific people running the establishment. Never fail to find something here. Surprised, when talking to other people, that many do not know that you can borrow video and board games, puzzles, musical instruments, various tools amongst the books and movies. Check it out. #celebrity_bucks

This is the very first experience of a library I ever had. Loved it, when I was like 5. A tad too small for growing minds of this era. Neat little micro garden thing in the back, helped plant a few ideas in my dads head for our own green thumb endeavours

There is free, on street parking out front, otherwise you can park at the free lot across from King St Baptist church (entrance off of Dover st.). A very good community library and space. We enjoy borrowing movies and books. They have a few computers that can be used by those with a library card. It is fully wheelchair accessible too.

A Reader

As a new resident and highly-dedicated bookworm, I was prepared to love this place, as well as KPL and the Galt location that I already knew (a bit). But just cheerleading doesn't help much. To help, I have to say that the printing costs here are the highest I've ever seen. 2.5-5 times what for-profit companies charge for one black & white sheet?!!?? The same for photocopying and double that for colour? I'm sorry, but I hurriedly configured my server & laser printer at home, and stopped going to the Idea Exchange after I got totally soaked on printing about $15-worth for a non-profit org I was volunteering with. After that experience, I even avoided coming when I was in need of a cooling centre, and ended up in ER with what I learned was probably a heat illness. And before anyone defensively says, or thinks, that it's a charity that has to meet their overhead costs somehow, and members should be willing to pay the extra as a "donation" to a worthy cause, I'll state that desire to help the Exchange, or generosity, has nothing to do with it. I simply cannot afford a "charity" that charges this much, as I live on a small disability pension, my slum landlord gets 2/3 of my monthly income, and I must go to food banks every month to eat well enough to avoid hospitals.

Coast Line

The ladies that run this place absolutely fantastic if they can't find you a book they'll order you if you can find a CD they'll do the same and they even email you our call you to let you know it's there

Idea Exchange is awesome.

I have always been treated well by the staff but a recent episode has really soured me. On July 8th about 4:30 I went in to the library to print a letter and do some photocopying. At some time when I was away from the computer I was using my cell phone was stolen. Originally I thought I possibly lost it but I am now convinced it was stolen. When I spoke to a staff member last week he seemed very nonchalant about it. I asked about cameras but apparently the Preston Library doesn't have cameras. Our politicians have lots of money to look after the homeless, addicts etc.but no money to protect the people who actually pay taxes. It is maybe time that the library started getting rid of people who don't have a reason to be there.

A bright, quiet place to do reading, use the internet, relax, and learn. Has the feeling (to me) of a bit of an oasis. Also has reasonably priced laser printing service and documents can be submitted online or in person. Love this place.

This was my first experience at the Preston Library so let me say that the staff Beth was the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic person. Her energy has left my wife and I with a new appreciation of what visiting a Library can be. Thank you

Turn down the volume on your phone so you can listen to the staff talk as loud as they want and hear the hellspawn cry as much as they want while their parents walk around twiddling their thumbs. I sincerely hope the other libraries aren’t this awful.

I visit this library often and I have mixed reactions... On the positive side: - Staff are extremely helpful and very polite in manner. - Multiple computers are available for use daily. - The scenery around the library is very beautiful and eye catching. On the negative side: - It is extremely loud during the day times as various kids programs take place. Also applies to Adult music groups that get loud enough to disrupt focus. - Questionable individuals loiter both inside and outside the premise which cause uneasy moments when interactions occur.
