I usually go here to study after class and on the weekend. It's a pretty quite place most of the time (only upstairs, because downstairs has an area for kids). The staff is helpful. I needed to find some old books for class and the staff was very friendly in asking and helping me with it. I like the windows on the upper floor; you can both studying and taking a break just by looking out. However, there are lack of electric outlets on the upper floor. So 4/5 stars.

Very convenient location, close to the station and the mall. It has a big yard that people often lay down & get a tan in summer or read/take a nap between spring and fall. They also have a big multilingual section, so you can take your friends from abroad when they're missing their countries =]

I like this library, its location and quite friendly personnel. But if you're looking for a quiet place to study it isn't for you. People are loud, constantly eating, and on the phones. Not much comments from the staff or security. Even the room for quite study filled with people chatting, eating and thinking that this is a cafeteria. No one reads the notes of no food or turn you phone off. Not support from staff to have a quite space. The loud poor mannered majority wins. As always.

One of the only places now where you can gain something of value and not expect you to spend money. I haven’t been back here since I was a teenager and a bout of nostalgia brought me back. The staff was so warm and friendly and smiled as she told me my past library card was a children’s card - and finally gave me an adult card of my own. I spent the day reading and falling in love with books again. Took some home to read even more. They also removed all late fees to encourage more literacy ????. Thank you BPL and may you continue to be a place of knowledge, sanctuary, solace and memories for years to come ❤️

Great Big Branch! Two expansive floors (three if you count the administration level) that cover anything you may need - from computers to children’s books and more. I love atriums, always have. The atrium views, the majestic skylights high up above, the grandiose windows and tasteful artwork, make this space feel oh so magical.

Wonderful atmosphere and selection. This is by far my favourite library. It always had new and interesting artwork on the walls and it is quiet. I also love the assortment of greenery outside. It is so lovely to be surrounded by so many lush trees. I can always find the books I want here and if they absolutely do not have it, they can get them shipped over from another library. It's very convenient and nice.

It's a nice place to go to. Even if you're not going there to read it's still a super pretty place to go to. The staff there are super nice and don't judge what you would get, but there's also self check-outs that are incredibly fast (it literally takes 2 seconds to get every book) Overall a super nice place to go to.

- 1 star for overcrowding and small collections catalogue: the library should be Expanded. The lack of space is a problem even on weekdays. The library catalogue is much smaller than Vancouver Public Library which forces people to take extra money and time to travel to Vancouver.

Everytime I drop off my elderly mother (97yrs old) to this library, the security staff remember her name and my phone number from the previous week, and i was pretty shocked that they kept mother's info on hand and knew who she was in addition to my contact info. Sizable library with quite a good selection of materials from CD's to books to DVD's. The children's section is pretty nice, and the library does a good job in promoting reading. The sessions with Jon are always fun for the kids. Staff is pretty helpful and there is a good sized underground parking lot.

Open and spacious, this central branch is attached to a good amount of green space that makes even the surrounding busier areas pleasant during all the seasons without snow; especially in spring and summer with beautiful flowers in bloom alongside the small water fountains. Seniors gather in the open space for group exercises while organized activities (posted on the bulletin boards inside near the entrances) abound year round for all different groups. There's plenty of metered ground parking as well as spacious underground parking.

Horrible experience. I had 2 items out and couldn't return them today so asked for a renewal. The 2 times were already a day late and I explained my situation that I cannot drop it off today but I can return them both the next day. They didn't even bother try and find a way to help me and said there was nothing they can do in a VERY snarky manner (one of them even started laughing when I told her I don't appreciate their poor customer service). I understand it's a slow library but they still need to provide good customer service.

Sure it's all great but recently 90% of the times I enter I leave in a worst mood bc there is never a spot to study. At one point there used to be 3 tables upstairs and I could usually come early and sit at those to study. But since a while idk how long, since the beginning of 2021 i think, those three tables were removed and nothing to replace them was put in place. I've come back for the past 3 weeks and leave FUMING bc there's still nothing. I asked when those tables would be replaced and I was told "soon". wth. I totally respect everyone that works there and my gratitude to you but PLEASEeeeeeee PLEASE put some tables on that huge spot or provide more study space somewhere else. Edit : THERE ARE TABLES NOW!!!!! Thank you!!!!

I come here almost every day to study for my Law exam. One incident happened recently that really got me thinking, do the staff really need to be this up tight?. I needed to create a case-law formula sheet and I did not have any on me. I did not want to walk home 20 min each way to grab a piece of blank paper, so I asked one of the full-time staff members for a single sheet of printing paper and she said that she cant. I offered money and she declined. I get that its policy, and the paper is only for staff, but do you really need to be that uptight about it?. If I was repeatedly asking for paper or wasting paper, that's a different story. (I know she did the right thing, clap clap, but seriously though). Anyways... conclusion, bring your own paper to this library, cause there exists no kindness in here. Never the less, the library location is great, the environment is pretty quite (most of the times) and its pretty clean. Theft happens quite a bit, dont leave your valuables unattended. To the librarian, lighten up, smile and enjoy life. I hope karma doesn't get you.

Great library, spacious and chill place. 2 things to note here: 1. You are not allowed to take naps here. For those who take naps at public places due to night shifts and such, this is not for you. Hilariously enough, they ask if you are okay. As if you fainted or something. It is called a nap... 2. There is a weird way of them trying to keep the silence consistent. What I am talking about are the tutors who work there. Some tutors get away with speaking a bit loudly during their entire session. Some get kicked out for tutoring in the first place. Does not make sense at all. Even had a couple flirting while the guy was teaching her. Guess that is one effective method of getting tutored for free.

I am pretty sure that I dropped a dvd that was overdue into the drop box, before I entered the library entrance. I went to the check out desk to pay for an overdue fee of one day and the check out lady went to see if the dvd had been returned in the slot. She checked the slot and came back to say it wasn't returned and she couldn't find it. She checked all the other slots and it wasn't found in them. It doesn't just disappear into thin air magically! So she ended up writing up a yellow card and would pass it on to her co worker to figure out the problem. Certain employees that work there are so incompetent. I guess I won't be paying the overdue fee until they find the dvd I returned.

This is an awesome library, clean , quiet and a contains a plethora of wonderful books. While studying for some technical exams I needed some books from Oreilly , these cost usually around 60-120$ each and I needed a variety not just one. With the my BPL membership , I got access to the Oreilly site and was able to read these books [full] online. I had an incredulous expression on learning the full depth of resources(not just the hard copy books) this library provides. BPL is a bastion of learning, discovering and improving and I am very thankful for that !!!!. I would give this 10 stars if Google allowed :)

The outdoor mini park where seniors can hold activity sessions is great. A peaceful surrounding in contrast to the bustling metrotown next by. Bookable rooms, discussion room and computer stations on second floor. Chinese language book shelf on the first floor.

This is my go to place for studying/job hunting or reading books and magazines. I love the wide selections of dvds and books. I've been going here quite often and I found myself irritated because of loud talkers and homeless lady (I saw her smoking in the washroom and wandering around the library), and the old Chinese people who brings lap top to watch movies in studying area. People seemed to ignore these signs and have no respect for others. Some security seemed to do their jobs and some didn't. One time, young mother walked through emergency exit and everyone heard the loud alarm until someone told her about this. I wish there was plentiful of power plugs and seats. I had a hard time finding a seat on Sunday afternoon. I personally like Central Library for the quietness and seats. Printing is about 40 cents per page. Convenient location next to Metrotown Skytrain and Crystal Mall.

they need more comfy chairs and modern security updates on their computers. traffic is backed up getting out of the underground parking lot very sad. government communist library is way more efficient than capitalist private property books! think about it: a book in a persons private book collection probably sits unused 99% of the time. where in a government library the books are shared and more efficiently used. save ur money, and use government burnaby public library where everything is shared.
