The librarians are helpful but the system they have for kids books is quite confusing. I've been many times and still haven't mastered it.

I would give it 5 stars but there is always room for improvement. It is a reasonably well stocked library; and if it isn't here then it probably can be obtained from one of the other Burnaby branches and delivered to this branch. One should be careful (as in all public areas) against theft. There are a number of people just waiting to steal your belongings if you were to turn your back or go into the book aisles. That part is not good. Parking is great.

Now Library drop in box only, and computer/copy/other including Street parking only 15 mins Total Time Allowed. At least, it's open. I believe same applies for all locations.

Nice library. They have a pretty good selection of books for kids. Not the biggest library out there, but nothing really compares to the Metrotown branch in Burnaby. Staff are friendly. Some unsavoury characters hang around this library sometimes (docking a point off the review for that, but it's not the library's fault, that's just because of the neighbourhood it's in). Parking is tough sometimes on a busy afternoon. Not many spaces below and spaces are a bit tight. They do hold some neat activities every now and again (for kids and adults), so look at the notice boards for upcoming events.

Right now in June 2021 you are only able to stay in the library for 45 minutes! They aren't changing anything for upcoming worst heatwave Burnaby's ever seen. I've been here many times over the past 13 years and it is a well run library. It's small but nowadays you can do much of your searching and placing of orders online.

I must say that living close to it, makes it a gem, and the energy there is even more relaxing than any other library. However it is very small in comparison to Vancouver piblic library at downtown.

There are awesome books in a very modern and clean space. They have lots of giveaways for children and teenagers, so stay posted for that if you are interested. This branch is a really good book holds pick up centre for southeast Burnaby residents.

i dont see why some people gave this library 1 or 2 stars. i go to this library 2-3 times every week. the staff is very nice, the place is clean, and though the selection isn't as big as other libraries, there are a decent amount of books and DVDs to borrow. some people say the staff never smiles- they do, and i've been going there for 3 years already- and they are always very helpful.

This is my GO-TO place to study, anytime. The layout of the tables are wonderfully thought out (to encourage each other to work) as they are large tables that sit 6 (3 on each side). Ample outlets and natural light that comes in through the windows. If you are looking for a secluded space to work at, this isnt the place. But if you need motivation, this is the place. Only downside is there isn't a lot of space, so dont get there too late.

The library has some comfortable seating, but the people that work there are unkind and favour their bureaucratic system over the comfort of the guests. A gentleman was sitting, leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed. He was thinking about something and decided to rest his eyes, and this was obvious. The lady from behind the counter came over and began addressing him in a rude and condescending manner telling him that there is no sleeping at the library. He responded with a gentle "It's ok, I'm not sleeping, I'm only thinking about something and it helps me think to close my eyes." She insisted that there was to be no sleeping to him and continued to harass him, even though he was obviously not sleeping! I am convinced that the humanity is sucked from this place, and you will find no peace unless you fit within their strict bureaucratic policies enforced by an obnoxious staff.

Tommy Douglas Library is an excellent library. It has a modern, contemporary look to it, though the washrooms are a bit smelly and the computers are kind of slow. Other than that, this library is perfect.
