I enjoy doing research at this library on different things and also checking out other books while I'm there, it'll be interesting to see what the place will look like once the construction is done I'm a bit excited, I find a lot of the staff members are really friendly and are ready and willing to help whenever one needs it, in the vicinity of the library there is certain people from in the community that they do try to avoid at times cuz I don't wish to have any issues inside the Library with the individuals that show up there but I know what they have done to me so just what it is you know.

My kids love the kids area they have upstairs plenty of current titles for tv and books as well as interactive displays and stations they offer wifi access too. Comfy atmosphere. Parking is paid they have a drive up return slot

A great library with different types of spaces to read, study and work. Public computers available, with a children's space on the upper level, and a youth area on the main. Great windows, a coffee shop (hours could be extended though I respect it's volunteer run). Check it out!

Very helpful staff. I was unsure if I would find a technical reference to suit my needs but was pleasantly surprised when I found the perfect book. Also they have a kids workshop called the tinker(room?) Which has a 3D printer. That is just awesome. The teens even get their private section where adults aren't allowed. I think that is neat.

Very nice library. There are a lot of homeless people spending day there. I was going there regularly to study and fortunately there is a quiet room, where nobody bothers you. Another advantage is cafeteria with great coffee and snacks.

Great place for kids to learn lots of new things, 3D printing is one of them. Kids may take control of robots by iPad app or color page which can be alive through app. Lots of fun stuff for kids.

Lots of variety for books and movies and do an incredible job of trying to get the most recent books and movies in. They always have lots of activities for kids around holidays and have a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere!

A fine modern library, offering both computers for internet access; desks with local WiFi and, generally, access to a single power outlet; and, amongst other highlights, a nearby coffee and concession stand. Generally busy and largely occupied, the peace is kept and ambient volumes are not terribly excessive. Staff were, upon my visits in late 2016/early 2017, among the friendliest ever encountered. Located very near the heart of downtown Barrie, across of a Service Canada government building, it is in easy walking distance of nearby restaurants and the town's bus station.

Great place. Availability of all needed resources. Staff is really very much helpful. They put their all efforts to provide best service and to provide you a safe environment. I had some issues with 1 person and the staff (Judy) and security ( Peter) helped and favoured the right thing. A great thanks to them. I feel soo much safe after their action taken and was able to focus on my work????????. Gud job the library staff.

Nice helpful staff, many activities for kids, clean (on the 2nd floor). I will bring my kid again. A lots of (but limited selections of) digital materials you can borrow, but I haven’t be able to find professional/academic quality books/textbooks. Too bad.

My son and I love visiting the public library. One of my few concerns is any metered parking: It should be kept free during the Covid pandemic/state of emergency! Times are tough for many people ????

I love the Barrie public library! I have been coming here my whole life (although that's not very long) and there is a lovely selection! If you are looking for a book in a popular series it is most likely there! In fact I noticed that in one series I read they actually bought a book the day after it was published. Talk about AMAZING!!!

UNDERRATED and gorgeous. This library has everything Canadian you could hope for. Thanks for existing. Learned about the amazing murals donated from the Eaton's centre. Everytime I go to the Barrie library it's a new adventure!

Great place to take kids for a few hours. Lots to do in kids section and they have fun programming for kids and adults. Always changing things up. Great book and dvd selection. Staff is helpful. My oldest son likes all the board games. Great way to try a game before you buy. Love our library.

All atmosphere, no books. One of the poorest "shelf" collections I have ever seen for a city this size. Many books are only available as e books, which are hard to access and poorly written instructions. Terrible business book collection and rarely have the latest titles.

Selection of books and movies are pretty good. Lots of private quiet places to sit and read. Easy checkout system and quaint tiny cafe that actually has decent coffee and inexpensive baked goods.

I gave this place 3 stars because they offer everything a library should, plus more If you're looking for a quiet place to study, though, this isn't it. Screaming kids, and drug-induced craziness is what you'll find. That's if you can find a place to sit, as they are usually taken up by people sleeping off whatever high they're coming down from. Also, watch yourself while you're there, you don't want to get run over by the paramedics. If you see someone doing the funky chicken on the ground, don't worry about it. The staff have years of experience dealing with it. Other than that, they offer a great variety of books, resources (such as interview workshops), a 3D printer, and lots of computers to use with speakers that DEFINITELY work. Trust me. Puzzles and audiobooks are a good way to tune out the snores and computer dings. Good luck studying, my friends.

It is a great place to be able to get some quiet and the resources you need for school work or some leisure time. I do agree, every time I have gone in there the staff at the front are reluctant to stop their conversations to assist you and when they do they look at you as if you are doing something wrong. Other than that it is a pretty good library.

Lots of sketchy people around, I've always used the library for the resources, top notch and been so helpful over the years. Catherine is so helpful if you need a hand like I do on the computer. This isn't the library's problem but a Barrie problem. I love this library and would give it a 5 star rating, but there is a problem that needs to be addressed to the city. The drug problem in Barrie makes this library unsafe, it's constantly surrounded by homeless and intoxicated people. The employees are wonderful and the place itself is a great size with an adequate selection. But the drugs, violence and muggings around this area of Barrie makes it unsafe for anyone to truly enjoy spending time this location period. I have lived in Barrie 2 years, noticed the influx of drug addicts and they love to hang around this library. Barrie is rebuilding the downtown to make the appearance nice, but will be totally pointless if they continue to ignore this problem. Order your stuff and pick it up, don't hang around though.

The staff here are very helpful and the newly renovated library is so welcoming in its ambience. Just a wonderful experience spending time here. The collection of titles, whether books, audio or video is huge. Very few titles that thr library does not have. Especially for books.

Probably my favourite resource in Barrie, despite being so unfortunately rough around the edges. Staff have always been extremely helpful, and the programs they offer here are really amazing. Back when the Collaboratory studio was open, I was really amazed that there was a space to use high quality button presses, sewing supplies, etc. Also was amazed that you can rent musical instruments and fishing gear! The rental programs are innovative and excellent, and I hope they keep building these cool initiatives.
