REVIEWS OF Strathcona County Library IN Alberta

Colby

Beautiful, modern library with lots of ammenities and close to a lot of new shops that are opening soon. Staff is super friendly and there is always lots to do and see here.

George Adimathra

My place of peace. Very quiet, good collection of books, magazines, latest movies. And staff always ready to help. Large underground parking lot with two hours free parking.

Stephan Bendall

The library has a nice collection of books and videos which I appreciate. I had to take off a few stars because the children’s area is so poorly designed and furnished. The central feature is a set of computers which become a magnet for kids to stand around mesmerized. There are so few opportunities for kids to interact and play together if they are older than about 18 months. For a good comparison, check out the Fish Creek branch in Calgary and the excellent interactive space they have for children. It has many different play stations and allows for kids of many ages to play and interact.

The best ever!! I go to my library at least once or twice a week!! ❤️ love love it❤️????????????

Tomara Beaverstock

Wonderful library with so many books, movies and audiobooks to borrow plus a farmer's market on Wednesday evening.

This is another place for which I've not written a review despite repeated visits. Makes my head reel; how's such a lack possible? Sorry Strathcona Library; I'll remedy that right now. You're well-stocked, with most every subject covered (at least in our searches). What was already checked out was returned reasonably quickly, and the inter-library loan process filled in the gaps. This location is a clean and well-lighted place, full of helpful staff, comfortable places to sit and read, and -- best of all IMHO -- near to Whyte Avenue and all its walkabout fun. It's double fun on Saturdays, when one can do the library and the Strathcona Farmers' Market with only a few steps in-between.

Steve Mebs

Kind of loud for a library

Strathcona Child Development Centre

We have been bringing our daycare children to Strathcona County Library for the past decade. We have been consistently happy with the programming, and wonderful offerings. Special mention of staff member Nicole, who runs the children's programming and shows such genuine enthusiasm for our children, and all the other patient and kind staff for the wonderful experiences you have created for our children. I love this library! A great place to come at anytime! Huge selection, free underground parking, and a coffee ship right inside of the library! Great for hanging out with friends, and perfect for studying! Such an amazing library! ????

I love that library

Heather Miller

Very friendly and helpful staff!

Marco Sanchez

So pleased with the professionalism of all the staff, nice and trendy shelf classification, beautifully designed, the best part, Google didn't ask me to post a review, I had to find it in maps to do it. SCL Keep it up, you're the best. :)

Plenty of books for kids..

They have a hughe "Christian" section proudly on display by the window where everyone walks by. It is obvious they are proselytising. I asked where the Jewish section was and they said the Jews have their books all mixed in with the rest of them. I hate this library. Like with the library of Alexandria, first they try to force their religion then the book burnings begin.

A nice renovated library, friendly staff and a great selection of books and movies. A nice library.

Heather Blush Artistry

Absolutely love this library! The staff are super friendly to us, very helpful and had great recommendations for kids. I think we sometimes forget how expensive books can be - one book a week for a year adds up! Our library cards are free, we always leave with great books in our hands and it's a wonderful place for kids to be and learn. Highly recommend this library!

Alexandra Pearce

Most of the time pretty quiet the odd kids screaming every once in awhile lol. But over all very calming and relaxing and always clean!

Darien

Great library, plenty of books, public seating, study areas, underground parkade, clean and modern.

EA Sailor

Great facility. Great staff. Great service. Finally figured out the parking.

Mysterious Man

Some real bitter people work here. Good library though, excellent selection.

I might be a bit biased with this review, because quite frankly, I love this library. Beautiful, spacious, bright, and inviting. This is the first impression you will have as you walk through the entrance. Study areas, quiet rooms, an elaborate book and video catalogue with an amazing selection, a wonderful children's area for both big and small, and I won't forget to mention the fantastic programs they offer year-round. There is even a cafe with drinks and treats with a seating area too. A year or two ago, they decided to waive library membership fees, so all this is free to you and your family! The library is set in the Strathcona County Hall building, so not only are there often community events to be found there often on weekends, but you will appreciate the 2-hour free parking in the heated underground parkade. Lots of parking available (did you know that on weekends you are able to use the second level of parking in the parkade normally reserved for County staff?)! Any downside? If there was anything I would change, I would move the upstairs study area further back in the library. Although it is in a pretty setting, so close to the large skylight above, this same area is straight above the cafe and so the chattering of cafe patrons travels right up to this 'quiet area'. Bring earbuds, and don't expect to have peace and quiet in that spot. That being said, Strathcona County is so very lucky to have such a beautiful public facility.

I LOVE this library so much!! They have a great selection of books, movies and a lot of other great things! I go there a lot, and it's hands-down one of my favourite places in Strathcona County!!!

I needed a library card and the staff was courteous and friendly. I love the atmosphere. The parking is 2hrs free, which for me, is more than enough time. They have a great selection of books. There is a coffee shop with seating area and a ATM machine outside the library. Thanks.

It would be really great if there was a designated silent/quiet study space at this library. Every time I’ve been here there has been people in the study space having loud conversations which makes it hard to concentrate

Our family LOVES our library! We are regular patrons and appreciate everything about the library. Our grandchildren are always eager to go and participate in the activities and explore the books and computers. What's not to love?

Karl Strickler

Great staff and very helpful.

Garett Blackwell

It's the perfect library. Expert staff with a wealth of knowledge and who are always available to help. The coffee shop and table space nearby are a bonus. Like many other facilities run by the County, the library is well managed and well led.

Strathcona County Library has : Free library cards, free parking, delicious cafe, huge clean space, kids area separate from adult study areas, stairs and elevators, friendly staff, plenty of clean washrooms, fireplace, private study rooms, free resume copies, free computer use throughout, ample seating, teen programs, free workshops and clearly marked facilities. From the free underground parking ( much more appreciated in winter) to the cozy fireplace up on the second floor, there are plenty of little nooks and crannies to get lost in with a book. My favourite thing to do is grab a delicious latte from vickys cafe and sit up by the fireplace with a large stack of books. On their website and guidebook is a comprehensive list of all the great events and classes being held. Most are free. Also, white boards and chalk boards are located around the library to remind you in case you leave your guide behind. The staff are very knowledgable too and happy to point you in the right direction. When I bring my children, my 13 year old cruises the Large Anime and cookbook section while my 4 year old and I make friends over by the gorgeous story tree in the kids area. Plenty of places to sit and have a coffee while your kids mingle. The board books are right their fingertips and in low shelving. Garbage cans, washrooms and water fountains are clearly marked and visible but tucked away. My 4 year loves to hear me play in the puppet theatre. More discovery can be had over by the computers and to the far north of this floor where an interactive smart floor is installed. Upstairs you can study and work on the computer in peace. Plenty of seating available. Bonus: stand and Overlook sherwood park through large picture windows, it does wonders to clear your thinking. The cook book and craft book section is the largest I've ever seen and I can spend a solid hour there alone. Great selection of magazines up here and fun spots to sit alone and people watch as you overlook the entrance below. Much more to boast about here it come see for yourself

The parking was terribly planned, and I often walk a from one street over, but the library itself is very nice
