Absolutely perfect location for a stay in Victoria, walkable to almost anywhere. Rooms are spacious but a bit dark. Shark club right in the building is a fast excellent place for a quick bite or drink. Wish it had a Denny's like other sandman hotels. Also don't expect to get much work done on the wifi.. It is almost unusable in the evenings. 5 stars it if had a better breakfast option and decent internets

This is a clean, comfortable hotel with friendly staff but is better suited to business travel because of its location. We visited as tourists and as such would prefer to be able to walk to the harbour comfortably. The hotel has strict security. You cannot use the elevator or stairs without a room key. Another guest told me it was because there's a lot of" bums" in the area. I would not like to walk there after dark. If you are travelling only by car then it's fine and there is free parking which is a bonus as we paid 20 dollars plus tax per day at other hotels.

The room seemed very poorly prepared. There were not enough towels, pillows and bed sheets provided for the number of people we booked. I also didn't find the room to be clean enough. The soap container in the shower was empty. I would also not recommend attempting to sleep on the pull-out sofa bed which was a pathetic excuse of a mattress, I could barely get any sleep in. Maybe suitable for kids but definitely not for adults.

Positives: Nice hotel - Clean. Friendly service and friendly cleaning staff. Lots of parking. Parking available for larger trucks. Negatives : Vending machines were empty of every single type of pop, even water, on every single floor. Indoor pool is very cold so we only went the one time.

Rooms old and dated. Had to pay for breakfast. Most hotels have free breakfast. Very low toilets. Not for older folks. Very uncomfortable pillows.

Hotel is not really that old as it has changed into Sandman from whatever it was before. Location is good as you are close enough to downtown but everything is only 5 minutes away in Victoria. Rooms are spacious and are good for a place to sleep as they are kept very clean. Nice that they have Shark Club attached as well as other restaurants in walking distance

Our room was good, no complaints. It's not a "fancy" Sandman signature. It was a short drive from the downtown core.

It's best attribute is that it is close to where we live. Servers should feel comfortable in their work attire and at Shark Club they do seem very comfortable. In fact they seem uncomfortable they are forced to where tight short skirts and tops while their male counterparts wear normal attire. It's 2018, this is no longer acceptable.
