I had ripped a few pairs of pants, and didn't want to rebuild them at $90 each, so I went to Thompson Cleaners and Tailors. The gentleman said they would be ready for the next day. I got a text at 6pm the same day saying they were done. I am sorry, that doesn't happen...But it did! I would rate the service and quality a 10/10.

Quick service on a zipper repair. Really appreciated that they were able to fix rather than replace the zipper. Obviously that's not always possible. A service like this keeps clothing out of our landfills.

When my partner goes into your establishment and is insulted by the owner, Alex, who not only used an old t-shirt for the lining of her new dress, lying to her that it's not an old t-shirt, and then has the nerve to tell her an insult to her face saying "it's the cheapest wedding dress I've ever seen", you will get 1 star review. I will make sure EVERYONE knows about this as this is not acceptable. PS: It's a designer summer dress, not a wedding dress. I can recommend you a great optometrist because you need one along with a crash course on customer service.

Frustrated with this company, I have used them many times and it was good but I brought in a purse at the beginning of October and it was done now Nov 23, he lied and used every excuse in the book, last wed he lost it, then on fri he said he will deliver it to me on sunday, I picked it up today and he charged $42 for a zipper you be the judge ( pic to follow) do you think he is worth it? I use to recommend him, I will no longer be doing that.

I took my white designer sundress in for alterations. They did a good job on taking fabric out of the skirt of the dress and shortening the length. However, when it came to the liner of the dress I had requested be put in, a dirty old shirt was used. Had he called me and stated he did not have suitable fabric that matched the quality of the dress, this would be a different story. But he did not. And when I brought up that I would have appreciated such a call as the quality of the lining does not match the quality of the dress, he bold face lied to me that he purchased the fabric. There are stains in the fabric. And even if a supposed trip to fabric land had occurred, one would opt for fabric that is of better quality, and matching the off-white colour of the dress, which it does not. I also guarantee fabric land is not selling stained fabric. It had the standard old t-shirt hem and if his story was true, he would have done a hem that matched the rest of the dress. Anything otherwise again, speaks to quality of workmanship. The bottom part of the lining was not even sewn into the dress. Extremely poor quality work. Also, upon closer inspection there are holes in the fabric where pins had been. Part of being a quality alteration company is knowing the fabric one is working with. If he did not feel he had the abilities to alter the dress properly, he should have recommended taking it elsewhere. Instead he over promised, under delivered and ruined an expensive designer dress. When I inquired about finding a resolution so we could both be happy he adamantly stated “NO” And proceeded to insult me in that it was the cheapest wedding dress he had seen. When it is obviously not a wedding dress. The only claim to such an insult would be that the colour is white, and that is simply ignorant. He also stated the dress could be done in 1-2 weeks and it took over a month and a half. It is a summer dress and it took half the summer to receive it. This is entirely unacceptable when there are other better alteration shops in town. If you have an item you either don’t really care about or it is merely an extremely simple alteration, then this might be a place to go to. But I recommend elsewhere. When you purchase an item you buy it with the idea of cost of alteration needed. But when you are required to pay for the work and then have to get it repaired and re-done elsewhere, because the shop owner, Alex, was unwilling to remedy the unsatisfactory quality work, it simply is not worth the risk and should just go somewhere more reputable. Plus, what if he damaged the dress further?! Not worth the risk. When ego gets in the way of business and customer satisfaction and is paired with blatant disrespect and poor quality work, I strongly recommend going elsewhere. Photos coming.

I cannot say enough good things about this business. It’s always a pleasant, friendly and professional experience when I come in. I mostly use Thompson Tailors for drycleaning, and the turnaround is really quick. I also had a coffee stain removed from a shirt that a previous company informed me was a lost cause after two attempts, and TT was able to remove the very subtle stain without me even flagging it! On the occasions that I’ve needed alterations, Alex does a terrific job, both in quality of his work and in service. He provides helpful insight into what alterations would be appropriate, and has salvaged numerous items that I had almost given up on because they no longer fit. Alex is probably one of the most personable business owners you will ever meet.

Dry Cleaning Incredibly wonderful people. I took my soon to be daughter-in-law’s wedding dress in to have them spot clean the bodice. I had added ribbon on all the ruffles plus a peek-a-boo on the crinoline so we discussed it and decided to not touch the bottom half as I wasn’t sure about the colour running. They took the bodice and hand cleaned it for us. When they were done, they were unhappy with the results as the now clean bodice made the rest of the dress look unclean. They spot checked the added ribbons to ensure no colour run and actually removed the peekaboo off of the dress then rewashed the whole dress!! When completed they sewed the whole peekaboo back on! It’s hard to explain but this whole process was a Huge job. When we picked it up, the dress was so clean it was absolutely astounding!!! AND…. They DIDN’T charge a penny more!!! I was dumbfounded! Service like that is so rare these days. I want to give you a huge shout out of gratitude!!!! ???? Thank you! Thank you! Thank YOU!!! Bea
