TL;DR Luv a Rug is the best rug cleaner in town, hands down. We have brought probably about 10 rugs to Dusty in the last few years, and my wife’s family has been using him for rug cleaning for decades. Dusty is SO knowledgeable—he was able to identify the specific type of rug (country and tribe) based on both the weave and the colour. His repair person Mohamed is top notch, and has repaired several of our rugs. He has cleaned rugs of all sorts and sizes, from less valuable knockoff Persian rugs to a 12 foot by 9 foot very old very expensive Kerman carpet. He always takes joy in sharing his knowledge with us, and has gone above and beyond to complete repairs and cleaning in a compressed timeline because we were moving across the country. Definitely recommend Luv a Rug for any area carpet cleaning you need done!

We have used them twice - once to expertly remove a fringe from a machine-milled wool area rug and replace it with a straight seam (which they did brilliantly). They also packed the rug for storage, as we had to store it for a year while we sublet our home. The second time they cleaned the same rug after a minor disaster in our basement (ruptured hot water tank) and again the results were first-rate. This is a great community-based business to support. If you have a fine rug of value you can entrust it to their care.

It seems ridiculous that it is cheaper to throw away a 8x10 rug than clean it, but I guess when everything is made in developing countries with minimal labour or environmental protections, that's what you get.

Fast, friendly, professional, and they have an online quote system that actually works. I filled out the form on the website, and the owner got back to me very quickly. We live in Nanaimo and had to have our 8x10 area rug cleaned. They do home pickup and drop off if you don't live in Victoria. A courier picked up the rug the next day, and then two days later we had it back wrapped up neatly in plastic. We've had this rug for 5 years and never had it cleaned, but they had it looking as good as if it were brand new. Would definitely use their services again!

Cat used the corners of my 30 year old Belgium carpet under the chairs for a litter box, badly staining carpet and fringe, as well as shreaded fringe. Had carpets cleaned, fringe removed from the two ends and had all four edges re-bound. Looks like new and absolutely no smell. I have used Luv-A-Rug before and have always thought them expert at their business. But when I took in a new synthetic rug with a large yellow stain from my dog throwing up I thought even they couldn't fix it. I was wrong! I just got my rug back and it's like new again. I highly recommend Luv-A-Rug! They're great with natural fibre rugs as well but the synthetics can be tricky to cleanf. They just know what they're doing - no job too big or small!

I brought a childhood rug to Luv-A-Rug that had been severely water damaged and forgotten in a basement. The backing of the rug would literally fall off in your hand. Luv_a_Rug cleaned both of them beautifully; one with no smell, stains or discoloration, the other they couldn't get the yellowing out of the carpet (which they advised up front) but the smell is gone and the carpet looks fresh and almost new! They also wrapped my carpets in plastic for storage and gave me a complimentary rug stain remover and advised on the best way to deal with pet stains. (I only have 1 dog now). Okay I phoned them up a week ago to get my carpets cleaned and some sofas. Had an appointment for estimate. NO ONE SHOWED UP. Phoned twice, first time, 30 minutes after appointment time, they said guy would get back, he didn't, second time an hour after appointment time I canceled appointment. Used the excuse they had contracted out my service. First off you didn't tell me that you contracted out your clients, i did not agree to that nor did I know, and secondly making someone wait for an hour and not being on top of what you are doing is really poor customer service. I strongly suggest going to another company that shows basic responsibility towards their customers. DO NOT USE

The fringe looked beautiful and the repair done on the edges was awesome. Looking at it made me remember why we had purchased it in the first place. It was gorgeous then and every bit as gorgeous again!!

When one of my kids spilled their blueberry smoothie all over a hand knotted Bokhara rug I inherited, I thought the stain was never going to come out. The blueberry smoothie was in the rug for quite some time before a voluntary confession came from one of the saddest, most lovable faces you've ever seen. When I finally got to it, the drink managed to penetrate all the way down to the base and turn a patch of white wool fibers to a dull shade of blue. I've had quite few shirts ruined by blueberry stains so I wasn't too confident the rug could be saved. I was wrong. The guys at Luv-A-Rug did a brilliant job. I brought in my wool area rug onlyi because I wanted to ensure it was clear of dandruff from my cat. First I was impressed, as I checked the rug the staff told more about my rug, and its antecedents than I ever knew. They clearly know rugs. The rug was ready early. When I went to pick it up I was astonished at the change - the colours now "popped" and somehow minor claw damage done by my cat were no longer visible. This was way more than I had expected and I was truly impressed. The only thing I would say was that this is expensive. However, this is my only rug so I don't have a good idea of what rug cleaning normally costs; and, having said that, it was worth it!

One day recently , I discovered a moth invasion in my basement, namely of three oriental rugs rolled up and stashed in a corner. I was mortified. One rug I lost to the moths, and two were salvageable. I recalled a friend raving to me about her oriental rug after it had been cleaned by LuvARug, and I knew that is who I had to call. Dusty was there the next day, so swift, to examine them and take them back to his shop. The rugs got cleaned and de-mothed. They came out beautifully. As a newcomer to Victoria, following a major downsizing, I invested in new, much smaller rugs. My favourite was a hooked, wool beauty in patterned pastel shades. Unfortunately, I placed it in an entirely wrong area and it suffered more than its share of abuse - dirty shoes, spilled gravy, wine and who knows what else. One particular section of the rug was absolutely filthy, despite the fact it was less than a year old. It became unbearable to look at. We took a 2'x3' Nepalese hand woven rug in to Luv-A-Rug for cleaning recently. The rug was badly stained with cat urine and weave was damaged with cats sharpening their claws on the rug. I am very allergic to cat dander the smell of cat urine. The moment I entered a room with the dirty carpet my breathing became very difficult. We were ready to throw the rug away. However it had sentimental value as we bought it while trekking in Nepal in 1986. We had given it to my sister-in-law when we came home from Nepal as a gift. Recently she no longer wanted the rug because of the damage done by her cats and asked if we wanted it back. We said yes and saw it needed some good care and attention. We took it to Luv-A-Rug and we were amazed at how clean and odour free the rug was after their work. However the rug was not even after cleaning , one 3' sides appeared shorter than the other. So we went back to Luv-A-Rug asking how this could be corrected. After Steve did serious stretching on the rug it returned to it's proper shape and looked like day we bought it from the Nepalese weaver. Thank You Luv-A-Rug for all the work you did to restore our nostalgic rug. We would highly recommend Luv-A-Rug's rug's cleaning and restoration service to anyone thinking that old worn out dirty rug in the living room is ready for the landfill. Maybe that old has got some more life in it. In that way we are saving our environment with an unnecessary trip to our local garbage dump.

I picked up my cream wool area rug today which is a European import and could not believe the appearance!! It is fantastic. I have had this rug for possibly 25 years or more, and of course have had it cleaned many times, but it now looks like it did when I originally bought it, for the first time!! Update: The company owner sent me a full refund which was greatly appreciated and shows their good will towards their customers and that they keep their word. Thank you Dusty, as far as I am concerned, I learned something from all this: to leave antique tapestries alone and if I need something done by a certain date to not rely on timetables given but to explicitly state so. I chose Love-a-rug after reading all the excellent reviews here, to take a 50 year old Belgian tapestry, a family heirloom for cleaning. It was sent to us as a wedding gift from family in Belgium and was supposed to be part of the wedding decor. I talked with Dusty over the phone to ask whether this is something they did and he reassured me they had a lot of experience with tapestries, so I brought it in. He told me they would first color test it to see whether it could withstand washing or not and that they would give me a call. I was charged 266$ for a tapestry about 1.5 over 1.6 metres and was asked to pay in advance. That was mistake number 1. I was told in would be ready in 2 weeks. The wedding was to take place 16 days later so I thought it would work out fine. Only it didn’t. They never called, the wedding preparations were a bit hectic and we just thought “OK, we’ll do without”. About a month and a week later, I called them and they told me that they color tested it and one color, the burgundy, bled, so they decided to steam clean it instead and that it would be ready in a week. Once again nobody called to let me know whether it was ready or not so I called back. This time they told me that they steam cleaned it but that I should go have a look and tell them what I thought. I went and to be honest I wasn’t even sure anything had been done at all, so I asked them if they could try steam cleaning it again and on a specific spot which was light colored to see if there would be a difference. Another week later again nobody called, so I called back and they told me to go see it and if I wasn’t happy they would give me my money back. I went there and there was the other person in the shop, not Dusty, and he showed me the tapestry. It seemed slightly better than before, even though far from good and I took it and left. There was no mention of any money return or anything. I did give that person some feedback as to how I felt about the whole service, which is the following: If you aren’t sure you can do a job properly, please let the client know and don’t take their money in advance. Or if you do and you offer a money return over the phone, please honor it in practice too. Please honor your timelines. From two weeks it ended up being a month and a half. I didn’t ask or insist for a money return because I was already too tired and upset about the whole thing. Even if they had offered a money return when I went to pick it up I wouldn’t have taken the whole money back but I believe getting at least half would have been fair. Fair for them for whatever work they did and fair for me for not getting near the result I expected to get.

Luv-A-Rug recently cleaned my very large Chinese hand knotted wool carpet and I could not be happier with the results. Luv a Rug cleaned a no. of rugs for me these past months as again, I have hard wood floors and wanted to both warm up the space and muffle sound. My adventures took me to consignment stores, Value Village and a garage sale, finding the 'perfect' rugs for my space . If I had not known of what 'miracles' Luv a Rug can achieve with a dirty, sometimes slightly moth-eaten wool rug, I would have missed out on some excellent finds! What can I say, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my wool rug! The whole team does amazing work and "dusty" knows so much about area rugs he's a true professional. They did a great job on the wool rug and even put a protective layer on it for me. The biggest shock to me was how clean and new my synthetic rug came out. It had stains I thought would be impeded forever but they got them all out! My favorite part is you can text dusty a picture of a rug and he can tell you everything about it and give a quote. Luv a rug has my business for life now don't look anywhere else.

We have not had one complaints about their work , every year I ask if they can be cleaned as fast as Possible, and every year I get the 6 pieces back , beautifully cleaned , within a few days! I had such a warm feeling about them, and then when I met Dusty, he gave me a tour of the facility, showed me how they clean the rugs, explained the process, provided a seminar on the "care and feeding" of good carpets...I was impressed with the generosity of his information sharing. I had a very good British India wool carpet which needed freshening and cleaning, as well as repair of the fringes. Dusty and the staff take obvious pride in their work, and value doing a good job for the sake of their customer, but also because they have respect for the craftspeople and skilled trade behind a woven rug. I brought in a handmade African Berber rug that I treasure, but that my young children had graced with the usual bodily fluids, food, juice - and playdoh worked into the tassels and soiled until it was black! I can't tell where the playdough or red juice spots were. But I was most impressed by the effort they took to try to find out where the rug was from, help me understand how to care for it, and appreciate the work the weaver did, as I got it second hand from an estate sale and didn't know much about it. I appreciate and enjoy my rug even more now, thank you!

I have to say that Dusty was very accommodating in taking care of my area rug cleaning. I came to his business on a day they were closed (my mistake), but the door was open with Dusty there and he excepted me in as if he was open. When I came back to pick up the rug (earlier than promised) a few days later, I was a little late past his open hours and again Dusty was happy to help and got me taken care of. Great service, great quality of work as my carpet is noticeably cleaner and feels, once again, soft to the touch. Can't say enough good things!

Luv-a-Rug cleaned our 4X6 foot wool rug. The rug is at our front door so gets all the traffic entering the house with all the dirt and mud brought in on shoes and boots. It also had pet stains. We took it to Luv-a-Rug as we had used their services in the past. The rug was ready on time and looked like new - maybe better. They even made minor repairs.
