If I could give less than one star, I would. I'm a healthcare worker on the front line right now, and my dryer recently broke. I can wash my clothes, but need to take them elsewhere to dry. Went in today and the owner told me no and literally waved me off with his hand, pointing to a sign, "in order to use the dryers you have to use the washers due to health precautions." Okay, good for them for taking extra precautionary measures. I'm a health worker and I understand this. I politely explained to the owner, twice, that I understand, and will take my clothes elsewhere to dry, but if possible could I exchange a loonie for 4 quarters. He very rudely exclaimed "no, no" and told me to leave, again literally waving me off with his hand and not even looking me in the eye.
I have been working full shifts, overtime and double hours for months straight. To help people, to protect them. I am exhausted and burned out. I don't have an issue with their policies, nor even the fact that he wouldn't exchange 4 quarters for a loonie. But being treated so blatantly rude and disrespectfully, as less than a person, while I'm literally on the frontline working to help protect others every day, broke me. I returned to my car and it took everything in me to not cry. A stranger who was doing laundry and saw the interaction came outside, and he was nice enough to offer me his 2 last quarters for free.
I normally don't leave reviews, but this experience got to me. I will never be back and encourage others to go to other laundromats in the area. It would do the owner well to learn that treating people with common decency and respect costs nothing.
