The best place to bring your pets. Great staff and building. If you haven't tried their doggy daycare, don't wait. Give them a call!

Maggie and Chloe have been going to the Fox and Hound Daycare for years. There has never been any issues with other dogs....all are friendly pups. I never worry about them because they are in good hands. Katie and staff are great....i have never seen such dedicated, happy, fun loving employees, who love their job. My dogs love the place, exhausted when they come home and they are happy, you can see this in their eyes. Love this place...grateful to all because I know both dogs are safe and loved by the staff. Our second time boarding our dog there (we boarded her for 9days) we picked her up and got her into the car and noticed a problem with her eye being red, a significant weight loss and lethargy. We were a bit upset that upon pick up nothing was mentioned to us about an eye issue or that she had a serious problem eating (ie. the issue was minimized because she was a “grazer” type of eater) When we returned home I notified the fox and hound of the issues. They called us and explained that dogs use 3x more calories when at the kennel. Rightfully so- but it becomes an issue when their intake is much less significant than the amount we had told them she eats daily and especially dangerous when the issue isn’t rectified after 3-5 days. She was there for 9 days- and although they did state they tried “toppers” they didn’t state when they started to try these techniques (possibly too little, too late) and when the topper technique didn’t improve the issue, we should’ve been contacted or the vet we have listed on file. Overnight her eye became much worse and we took her to the vet- she was diagnosed with a double bacterial eye infection and showing signs of pain. I went back to Fox and Hound to speak with Kate about a refund as the cost of the vet and other costs incurred with the situation was more than what it cost to board the dog there for all 9 days. She had stated that we did sign a form that we were aware that eye infections and the like could happen being at a kennel (which was a bit off putting to hear the lack of empathy over the situation)- BUT they also had us sign a form stating if anything was medically necessary for our dog we gave them preauthorized permission to seek medical care for our animal, and they did not. And again- nor did they contact us at any point in time to ask us what they should do. Kate did refund the costs of our vet bill (which I had with me) and that was helpful and appreciated. In my opinion, if the eating issue had been resolved earlier her immune system may have been in a better place to not have the eye infection become a real issue, if at all. Had we been gone for many more days I don’t honestly think we would’ve had a dog to come home to without emergency medical attention and she hasn’t even turned 1year old yet. We were originally impressed with their facility, and their trial process to weed out aggressive dogs to ensure the safety of their staff and animals which is why they get 2 stars and not just 1. But they dropped the ball BIG TIME with our dogs care and we will not be returning for fear of what else could happen and the sadness with the possibility of our daughter losing her best buddy. Prior to this instance we had not heard many negative reviews of the facility so I truly hope this was an isolated instance that will be utilized to only improve their facility and policies. In response to the google response from owner below: I do feel you try your best to follow the actions in the first paragraph you stated, but don’t feel things were followed as closely with Sparkles stay. We did not just base this on our own assumptions/feelings, numbers don’t lie. She weighed 10lbs less from her weigh in 2 months ago- albeit i will not put all ten pounds loss as owness on your facility but I do know she did not eat well- as her food bag that should’ve been half empty upon our return was maybe 1/4 used- after a few days we should have been contacted to help you improve her eating abilities. I don’t have any information on sparkles stay with you, other than undated pictures you sent trying to prove she didn’t have an eye infection while she was there- but had one diagnosed the morning after we picked her up. (She was picked up around 2:30pm on Monday and diagnosed on Tuesday at 9am) Eye infections can progress quickly, and by chance other than some eye guck you may not have noticed some changes in Sparkles eye, as you have many dogs there and hard to tell subtle differences. We were more concerned about the weight loss as the progression of that can be deadly.

This is a fantastic kennel/day care. Our dog has a great time here, and he usually comes home tired after a fun day. Owners and staff are super nice and are all passionate in what they do - taking care of dogs!

Jennifer Angers Daerendinger

The best dogcare facility I have ever seen! I moved to Sarnia from Vancouver and there is nothing even close there! The owner and staff are courteous, proffessional and friendly. Most importantly, my dog LOVES going there! 10 out of 10 score from me!

We have always been treated well and are extremely happy with the staff and owners. Our Labrador retriever has had long and short stays at the Fox and Hound. In one case, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our dog received his medication while we were away. Excellent service!

Chris Currie

Top notch kennel! Beautiful property and they are totally engaging with the animals. Lots of room for them to roam and play during their stay. They have a puppy playcare as well for daytime stays. Otis loves going to The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat!

We were in a pickle coming to town with short notice with our dog. The Fox and Hound staff took him in with short notice and accommodated for his shyness and were so kind and helpful. Thank you so much!

Just dropped my 3 year old lab chow off at Fox and Hound for her weekly play time and she almost jumped out of the car window she was so excited to be there. Our dog Beans has been going to F&H for just over two years now and started going shortly after we adopted her. As a southern rescue, she was extremely timid and unsure of everything and we waited a few months after bringing her home to bring her to doggie daycare until we felt she was carefully socialized and able to handle the environment without one of us present. I have only the best things to say about F&H when I look back at how much her personality has changed since having a place to get all of her energy out and how gentle and caring the staff have been, which has helped her gain confidence and trust people, which she had trouble with in the past. Her sweet, gentle and goofy personality has replaced her skittish and afraid of everything side. I have never doubted that she would be treated well and be safely taken care of. I highly recommend this business to anyone who has a dog that needs to direct their energy into some engaged playtime or anyone who just needs a day/trip away to themselves and wants to trust their fur family member is being cared for as if they are in their owners care. Thanks Katie and team for everything you do.

A great place to take your little / big poochie when you don't want to leave them home alone all day. The staff is very friendly and our Ruby is always happy to go. The prices are fair.

The Fox and Hound is a dream vacation destination for our furry girl Gracie! Gracie gets excited driving in the lane to the barn. When we pick her up whether she was there for grooming or a week long stay she looks great and she’s happy. That means the world to us. Katie and her fab staff are passionate about their furry friends and Gracie is the happy recipient! ????

The Fox and Hound is fantastic for our little labrador. She loves going and playing with all the dogs. The staff is incredibly and kind. They do an amazing job of knowing all the dogs. They also offer a great deal if you buy a package of hrs for doggy daycare. We highly recommend them they are truly animal lovers.

Brandi-Leigh Forget

Dropped our pup off there for his Trial period yesterday. The service was amazing and could tell they really enjoy working with the animals which makes me feel 10x more comfortable leaving my pup there to play. He is Germain Shepard and Mastiff mix so he needs lots of play and I can happily say he came home and has been sleeping since! Will definitely be back

Maggie (8months old) has been visiting for both boarding and daycare since she was approximately 4 months old and loves every minute. Love the staff and clean facility. Staff have always been very accomodating and grooming staff do a fantastic job.

It is important to share that our dog (Cash) suffered 3 significant injures while under the care of the Fox and Hound, Sarnia. Cash is an 18 month old (non-agressive) German Shepherd. He is however very energetic. The most significant injury was a puncture wound during an overnight stay. His groin was tore apart. The Vet confirmed that as a result of the clean cut, it was not a dog bite. Quite simply he was impaled! I received a call from the Fox and Hound advising that I should pick Cash up as he was not his energetic self and that he would not leave his kennel compound. Once I picked him up, I realized the significance of his injury. The Vet introduced emergency surgery that afternoon. I acknowledge and appreciate that Katie paid for the surgery. It was however insulting when she asked whether or not Cash could have injured himself exiting our vehicle (the day before). The Vet advised that she had recently treated an identical injury that was inflicted on a large breed dog at the Fox and Hound (Sarnia). Katie vehemently denied the allegation. We recently (March 2019) received a call from Kelly at the Fox and Hound advising that Cash was injured playing with other dogs and could we meet him at the Animal Hospital. His ear was ripped (about 2.5 inches) from the top down. The Vet was unsure if she could save the top of his ear. Katie followed up to check on his health and welfare. She confirmed to me that a staff member would be held accountable for their actions in the particular case. I followed up with Katie via email to advise that Cash had a bite mark on his hind leg and a gash on his face. I expressed concern and questioned if such an injury could be sustained from "playing". Katie failed to return my message. The initial injury that Cash sustained was a tear of his dew claw. He injured the claw on a fence, the injury sustained at the Fox and Hound Sarnia, required surgery. Katie recently advised that her staff at the Fox and Hound were not equipped to manage Cash and he was a risk. She went on to state that although he is not aggressive, he is too fast, energetic and powerful. Apparently the trained staff a the fox and hound can't care for an 18 month old dog. I welcome Katie's response to this submission. I also encourage any clients of the Fox and Hound to contact Katie directly if you have any concerns in relation to the validity of this posting and the health and welfare of your beloved pets while under the care of the Fox and Hound, Sarnia.

I love the staff. My dog started out shy and has since come out of his shell; absolutely has grown more confidence and enjoys every minute there. He naturally has LOTS of energy and comes home tuckered. I really love the picture updates throughout the day on their facebook page of all the fun they are having. I'd definitely refer anyone here!

This doggy day care/ boarding was really impressive! Acknowledge and friendly Staff. Well run organization I would recommend to anyone.

I can't believe this place is in Sarnia. I moved from BC and this place is the best thing I can do for my pup. He loves going to daycare and the staff are the most friendly people you'll ever meet. The facility is gorgeous and clean and all the socials they put on are a great addition to the community. We are so blessed to have The Fox & The Hound in our backyard. Thank you to all the staff for everything you do and for going above and beyond every day.

Steve Boyle

Best place for dogs and give some quiet time for owners.lol

I am not one to usually place things on the internet, but when it comes to the health and safety of my babies, our babies I have to share. Last week, Wednesday and Thursday my fiance dropped our two dogs off for the day for daycare. Thursday was black lab day. Not a problem as they have gone here before and loved it. So I thought I could bring them back recently as I am back to work and needed to rely on somewhere I could trust for my dogs to go. When i picked them up on both days, my dogs were just handed to me with no explanation of what they did for the day or anything. They wanted my money first and handed me my dogs and away they went. When I got my dogs home, I noticed their behaviors were tired, yes of course they run around and have a blast. But they were distant, ears back and skiddish all of a sudden. So I checked them over with my fiancé and we found a few puncture wounds over both our dogs. With no idea about these spots on them at all, as no one told us as they handed my dogs back at pick up. My golden retriever has two scabs on her head &some more minor scratches and marks on her. My white lab, you could see the blood on him more of course the more you moved back the hair. We then lifted his right ear to find an even bigger puncture wound. We couldn't believe it. Our dogs have been home with me, scratch and puncture wound free for almost a year as I was not working. So we knew these were new. I understand that kids get scratches and cuts when they go to daycare. But not full on puncture wounds causing bleeding. Until the vet on Monday, we instantly had to separate my two dogs for the weekend and put a cone on my Labs head so he didn't irritate his spots anymore then it already was. The Goldens wounds healed up and dried up themselves as they were small enough, however my white labs did not. My poor boy. So we took him to the vet on monday, and the vet confirmed that he had 3 puncture wounds on his head, and the sylva from another dog started to cause the irritation, causing a hot spot and infection. So 3 puncture wounds leading to a hot spot, that can spread if not treated, all over my baby boys body. All because I sent him to the fox and hound. Not to mention this was all followed by a $300 vet bill that we were not prepared to pay for. After already paying $90 of daycare to send them there to get hurt. Of course I reached out to the daycare immediately, the manager there was AMAZING and apologized and took all of my information down. She reassured me that the owner (who I have never met before- Katie) was awesome and that she would give me a call... THIS is where I get really upset. Katie, as a business owner, called the vet before calling me to ask what happened. The vet of course explained to her that for privacy reasons she needs to speak with me first. And would not disclose any information. She then proceeded to leave me a very direct voice-mail explaining that it was only hot spots and irritation. Very rude and putting the blame on us. I finally talked to Katie who at first was extremely defensive, I understand you want to protect your business, however. She didn't want to pay the bill at first, she wanted me to feel as if my dog got this spot from the pool or from the turf in their arena. I got very upset. As a protective dog mom. I stood my ground. Katie has now paid for the vet visit yes, but has not refunded me my daycare money, really APOLOGIZED for what happened to my dogs, told us they are not welcome back and has not checked in once to see if he is okay. And it's now Friday, it's been a week my poor boy has been in a cone. He has 3 weeks of two types of antibiotics, a wipe down every night on the spot and of course he isn't able to enjoy life right now!!! And that breaks my heart. I just want our babies in the best hands. Every experience is different i get it, but I had a bad one and I will never step foot in that place again.

Enjoyed the openness and space availability. Friend's dog enjoyed her first time being able to run leash free.

Lee Anne Burkett

Hazel loves The Fox and Hound. Would definitely recommend.

Denis Gadwa

This is a beautiful, first class facility with wonderful, knowledgeable staff, professional management and organization. Our pup has been going since early in his life to socialization classes (highly recommended) then later for overnight stays and frequent doggie daycare. Very reasonable prices. I fully endorse this Dog Retreat.

Chris Hazen

Our dog is always tired and happy when we pick him up. Friendly staff.

Called to look into having my puppy put into doggy daycare and they made a file for me and told me to call when her vaccines where up to date and they would do the assessmentand get the ball rolling. (Only a 4 month old puppy at the time). called when everything was ready Only to be told they aren't taking anymore puppies right now. So I have to go to work and scrambled to find another alternative. Since they made me get all this done before an assessing. Thanks for going back on your word .

STEVE L

Took our puppy in for a cut and was an amazing experience! Staff is phenomenal.

This is the third time Ozzie has stayed at the retreat and we have left him there knowing that he will be loved and cared for. Last time we were gone for 8 days and he was very excited when meeting us again. Thank you to the staff at Foxhound your wonderful.

Deb Wolfe

Love Fox and Hound! Dog loves it too-loses her mind when she knows she’s going!

Candace Richter

We have been taking our dogs to Fox and Hound for overnight stays when we go on vacation. Shadow loves going there and gets very excited when we turn in the driveway. I love that the dogs are out playing all day and have lots of social play. I also appreciate that they take pictures everyday and post to Facebook so that you can check on your pups. It doesn't seem to matter if he is there one day or two weeks, when he comes home he is exhausted. I also appreciate that he is always clean when I bring him home and does not smell like a kennel. Thank you Fox and Hound for always keeping our pups happy and healthy!

Charlene Elizabeth

Terry MacDonald

Used to take my boy Riley there but because he was apparently a little loud after going almost 1 year, I went to pick him up and was told he was no longer welcome there. Beagle barking.

Mary Campbell

If you need a place for your dog to hang out. Fox and Hound are amazing. They treat your pet like family. ❤❤

Amanda Shawnoo

Love this place! Great for my husky to release some energy and the staff is always so friendly and helpful.

Gerald Kelman

Our Aussie has been going here for almost 2 years, since he was a few months old and he absolutely loves it! It has been the best place for socializing our dog with others. It doesn't matter when he goes, there's always dozens of other dogs to play with. The staff are wonderful, friendly and true dog lovers. Due to covid, we hadn't been able to see the whole facility until now. We went to the open house they had yesterday and were even more impressed. This is top-notch with multiple fields & play areas, a pool, climbing apparatus and toys. Our dog comes home happy and exhausted every time he goes!

Sue Marshall

Our puppy was here for his first day today. They make u feel so welcome and the puppy. He was there from 830 till 315. He slept in car and ever since he got home. Very exhausted. I know he'll be looking forward to going back for sure. Awesome place!

Richard

Called to try and get my puppy in for daycare. No one answered the phone after repeated attempts to speak with someone. Left a message on their answering machine, which states that they will call me back within 24 hours. Currently on week 3 with still no response. This place used to be a great spot that provided good service, but NOT ANYMORE!!! This place has gone way downhill and I have heard many other issues from fellow dog owners. Avoid and try one of the other sarnia spots.

Susan Chilton

Great dog lovers/handlers for doggy day care/play groups. Excellent groomers. Stunning facility. Wonderful place!

Jenna Rankin

Our puppy absolutely loves The Fox and Hound. When we drive in the lane way he goes nuts. Plus he comes home happy and tired

Tad Stewart

Extremely helpful staff. Need to switch our puppy to a raw food diet and they were more then happy to take the time to explain everything to me and get us set up with what our puppy need for her new diet.

Tammy Gibson

My puppy Pepper loves coming here. When I pick her up, she's exhausted!!!!! She always knows when we're almost there, starts whinning and going crazy in the back seat lol. I just wish there was a way I could watch her to see what she does. I would recommend this place yo any dog owner.

Rick Petrykanyn

This is an extraordinary place with extraordinary people truly caring about the dogs that come to play and stay over.

Jason McDowell

Our dog Bear had his first ever visit to a kennel this past weekend and it was to the Fox and Hound. The website looked amazing. The staff were very nice. But upon picking up Bear, the staff said he was good all weekend with no incidents. When we got him home he had scratches all over his back end and groin area, and chunks of skin ripped off of every paw as well as both eyes had an eye infection. This resulted in a vet visit that cost $158. When we called them about our discovery, they seemed very concerned and asked us to call them after the vet visit. I called and spoke to one staff member who in turn asked me to call back during the day. So I called back several times through out the next day, leaving messages. I even emailed them with pictures. But zero call backs and no response to my email. This leaves me with an opinion that they really don't care about their customers and our family members. Had this been a daycare center and our child, the result would of been better due to a call to the CAS or any other government agency regarding child welfare, but what can I do regarding my canine child? As to your reply to this his paws were not dry and cracked there were chunks of his pads missing and bleeding they were perfectly fine when we dropped him off he could barley stand by the time we got home nice try tho its not from the weather or the salt also nobody informed us when we picked him up that he was injured at all and the chunks that were missing were also infected hence the vet bill

Kirk Climie

This will NEVER disappoint you. They do more than you would expect.

Julia Sungaila-Needham

Best place to care for your dogs. From grooming, to daycare, boarding and training... they have it all! It's so pretty too!

Sharon Brenner

just by chance had to make a stop at the fox and hound, i was lost and my french bulldog was over heated with anxiety. They did not hesitate to help a stranger in need, they jumped right in cooled her down gave me ice and towels and directions and sent me on my way. If this is how they treat a stranger i am sure their clients can only be very lucky to bring their pet there. A big thank you to the staff.

Katie Vanos

My dog had her first visit to doggy daycare today. The staff was incredibly nice, knowledgable, and efficient. Bailee is already looking forward to her next visit to The Fox & Hound Canine Retreat!
