We had a really bad 6 month experience at St Laurent Academy with our then 14-month-old, such that even years after the fact, it still upsets me thinking back on it. Being inexperienced first time parents with little daycare options for kids under 18 months, we sent our kid there because our friends sent their kid there, and we thought he could start with a friend. There were many unpleasant things that we experienced and witnessed throughout the time (such as the lack of hygiene awareness from the caregivers, e.g. changing one child's poo diaper on the cold floors, without washing hands and moves onto the next diaper; our child got violently sick for 3 weeks out of the first month of attending, and we highly suspect it was due to their hygiene habits; the caregivers were also older and lacked in any energy to participate or lead any plays or interactions with the toddlers, the little kids are always left standing outside in the cold doing not much of anything with hardly any toys on the ground every time I go for pickup, it's a sad sight; the actual room itself was also uninviting and cold, without any colorful toys or books in plain sight, it was a stark comparison to the other daycares we sent him to after). The school requires a term's (6 months) fee paid up front, and no refund whatsoever (even when we had our doubts the day after the initial visit, they read our email of concern, and instead of responding, cashed our cheque right away, claiming there's no way we can change our minds now), which is why we stuck it out for the 6 months being it was a lot of money to lose. As soon as it was over, we ran for the hills. I would strongly advise any parent considering this school to seek elsewhere.
