It was a bittersweet moment last June when our son graduated from Tanglewood School. For more than 3 years, he had spent his days with caring, innovative teachers whose approach to curriculum was engaging, fun, and patient, encouraging him to develop his autonomy and build his confidence. Moreover, we are grateful to their incredible chef whose delicious fare tempted him to try new flavours. The children's Christmas concert and graduation ceremony were highlights each year, but the day to day is where Tanglewood really shines.

My daughter went to Tanglewood in the 2016-2017 year. She thrived academically, socially and developmentally because the teachers and staff at Tanglewood are some of the finest. They are all caring, empathetic, warm and are firm when guidance to correct a behaviour is needed. I highly recommend Tanglewood to anyone!

Exploring Destinations

Highly Immature management. After booking an appointment with MEERA she just don't show up, instead she left early without informing me. After travelling for more than an hour, nobody would appreciate this etiquette. GARBAGE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!! Absolute ridiculous behavior. What will they teach students when they are themselves not civilized.

On behalf of my wife and I : My son is a student at Tanglewood and the school exceeds all of our requirements; it is truly a place that leaves us feeling both comfortable and at ease. Upon registration, we asked to schedule a meeting with the Principal to discuss nutrition. It is important to us that our son is fed both healthy and balanced meals. We were not disappointed. She took the time to send us the meal plans for the next month and even gave us a tour of the kitchen, including an opportunity to meet with the chef! The meals are fresh and prepared daily and Shaan has never had any food related issues since. I did my Masters in Education and am familiar with the Montessori Philosophy. Here is a school that not only checks off all the boxes but hires staff who understand, live and raise their own children by the same principles. At it's core, Montessori is about student-led learning, it is neither prescribed or pre-determined, it is a way of working alongside children to help them achieve their natural strengths. Tanglewood does this exceptionally well. Shaan is enrolled in the Casa program. He has flourished both in school and at home. Before Tanglewood, we were dealing with a long list of disciplinary problems but since, have noticed a positive change in his demeanour. He is taking the initiative to pick up after himself. He shares his toys and is no longer displaying acts of unnecessary aggression. He is partaking in both French and Music classes and I believe this is what is leading to his development into a well adjusted child. I credit his healthy growth to Tanglewood and the work they are doing with each and every one of their students. It is no wonder their enrolment is full! If you are looking for a wonderful school, with a warm staff and natural surroundings. A place of contemplation and a world where your son or daughter can learn to co-exist among others, I would highly recommend Tanglewood. It is all that we expected and more.

Our two children had a wonderful experience at Tanglewood School. The teachers were experienced, nurturing and caring. We appreciated the nutritious in-house cooking and the great outdoor space. Tanglewood provided a wonderful first learning experience for our kids.

My son went to Tanglewood for almost 2 years and he truly flourished! He would come home with such an increased curiosity for learning and a ton of new words,songs and concepts that he's constantly share with us. Staff are so attentive, meals were amazing (always ate well) and he even picked up on the French! School set up in a old century home in a quiet cul de sac and has a gorgeous backyard playground. We are so grateful to the Tanglewood family and miss being a part of it!!

Such an amazing staff, location, building, food and overall atmosphere. They really love their jobs and have taught my son so much more than I ever thought possible by the age of four. I highly recommend Tanglewood for any child. They will love it and be so happy there!!!

Not equally good for money spent. I become concerned as learnt not a child friendly space neither space/ toys are professionally disinfected or cleaned. I only write this review since I count and appreciate on reviews are made honestly.

Great teachers, location, good, playground and administration. This is our third year in Tanglewoods. Never fails to amaze. It is small enough to know almost every teacher and kid. Feels like home.

My oldest went there for 2 years, and my youngest 1 year. I noticed that they were still taking payments out of my bank account while my kids were not in school. When I spoke to them about this they gave me the run around and refused to refund the money.

We sent our daughters to Tanglewood when they were 20 months and they stayed there until they went to JK. We were very happy to find this school. The classrooms are always clean and organized. The teachers and staff are all nice and experienced, and the most important is that they love and care your children. Our daughters learned a lot at Tanglewood and they were very happy there. Now it’s been half a year since they left school, but we still hear them talk about Tanglewood and the teachers there. Highly recommend it. It’s definitely a great school for yong kids!

Our son went to Tanglewood from when he was 18 months to 3 years old and the experience was truly above and beyond what both my husband and I would have ever expected. Everyone at the school made us feel so incredibly comfortable and only showed love and care throughout his years. Our son has now moved on to JK, but until today he still speaks about his "little school" and how much he misses everyone. We found the Montessori program to be very enriched while still allowing each child develop and strive at their own speed. Tanglewood is truly the perfect hidden gem of Oakville and I will forever speak very highly of this school. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!

As most parents are in their search for childcare, I was anxious to find an environment that would nurture and care for my little one in the same manner that he was cared for at home. Having visited a number of places throughout Oakville, I found myself disappointed with the options that were available, both from a physical environment perspective, and also with respect to curriculum. From the outside, Tanglewood School’s beautiful century home – turned schoolhouse, with its perfectly manicured lawns and wonderful playground, immediately set me at ease. Upon meeting the Director at Tanglewood School during our first visit, I felt a complete sense of relief and security. After getting to know all of the Toddler Room and Casa teachers, as well as the lovely Chef at the school, I knew my child would be in great hands. In the over two years that we were at Tanglewood School, and in the time since my child has graduated, it has become obvious that the warm and attentive nature of the staff at this school is simply unparalleled. Each of my son’s teachers left a positive impression on him, and he continues to talk about them and reference what he has learned from each of them to this day. Following the Montessori approach, Tanglewood School allowed my son to not only thrive, but excel in all areas of his development from intellectual to social to emotional. The School’s French and Music programming is a fantastic addition, and has had a lasting impact on my child. I look forward to having my second child join Tanglewood School shortly.

Tanglewood has helped shape our 5 year old son into a kind, caring and compassionate little boy. He has learned so much from the Montessori program, and find that it's helped him with his exploration. They have really helped open his mind up to trying new things and new adventures. Curriculum wise, we miss Tanglewood. He is now in JK at a different school and complains that he's "bored" and that "we don't even do any counting or writing". We do a lot of work at home on weekends to make sure he retains what Tanglewood taught him, and keep the velocity of his learning. In hindsight we wish we kept him back at Tanglewood for JK/SK but he loves his new school, has made new friends, so it's hard to change schools again. Our 2 year old daughter is currently in the Toddler program at Tanglewood, so we may keep her in the program as long as they allow us. In terms of the staff and the environment, you really can't ask for much more. The staff treats every child with the respect they deserve, but know how to discipline when required. Our daughter jumps out of bed in the morning "can we go to Clarita now?", which is always a great sign. Ms. Patti, the personal chef, is incredible at what she does and the kids LOVE her food. Take one look at their weekly menu, and you'll see why. The environment is so warm and inviting. It's located in an old century home in south Oakville, which makes the children feel safe in a home type of environment. The outdoor space is the best we've seen within surrounding daycares. When we first moved to Oakville our son was 2, we went to see A LOT of daycares. All the other daycare visits, he'd cling to my leg not wanting to let go. As soon as we walked into Tanglewood, he didn't cling to my leg and began exploring. That sold us immediately, we let him tell us what he wanted. His besfriends are all still from Tanglewood even though none of them go there anymore. And we've made some GREAT friends with the parents and still keep in touch all the time. Safety, Transparency, Compassion and kindness is what I always think of when I think of Tanglewood. Pros: Everything Cons: They make learning fun and equip the kids with a lot of knowledge, the public curriculum is behind so be prepared to work with your children evenings and weekends.

We have been so thrilled with our daughters experience over the last year at Tanglewood School. If you are looking for an intimate, supportive and exceptionally well run Montessori school you should check out this hidden gem. The teachers are maginificent and somehow know every student in the school and the atmosphere is cosy, clean and so supportive. Our daughter has really thrived (academically and socially) here in the Casa program and we are sad to be leaving for our local pubic school next year. We will certainly be enrolling our second child when the time comes next year. It has been such a relief finding such a well run school who pays attention to all of the important details. As the parent of a child with a severe food allergy we have been BEYOND impressed with their policies and processes to keep all of the children safe. Thank you so much for all of the lovely teachers and staff at Tanglewood for providing such an amazing experience for our whole family. We will miss you :)

First, of all thank you so much to everyone at Tanglewood for making my boys first experience in a school atmosphere such a positive one. The school is one of the best I have experienced and heard of for preschoolers. If you are looking to be treated like family, have your children cared for like you would, learn, enjoy and make new friends in an incredible facility with teachers that are amazing beyond words... then look no further than Tanglewood. The staff at Tanglewood is exceptional!!! Everyone is very professional and experienced. The teachers, as well as support staff, truly care for the well being of the students. Communication with parents is a priority at Tanglewood. Parents are alway well informed about curriculum, special events, upcoming birthdays, menu etc. My son has such fond memories from his year at the school. He came home with a wealth of knowledge on various topics. (It was actually surprising for a 3 year old to retain so much). I highly recommend the school to parents looking for a real Montessori environment, an organized and clean learning space, with a fantastic play ground.

We loved the kid-friendly setting, the cleanliness and organization of the school, and the caring teachers and administrators that we encountered.
