Here we offer you the information of real people who have information of the services and products of The Jasper Planetarium & dark sky telescope tours (Kindergarten) in Jasper (Canada).
At the moment the firm gets a rating of 4.4 stars out of 5 and this score has been calculated on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average of ratings is good, and it is founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the assessment is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to give scores when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Kindergarten corresponds to the category of Tourist attraction.
This was my second time at the Planetarium and despite the weather being incredibly cold and a little cloudy, Tyler stuck around and showed us more! Such a wonderful experience, we will be back!
We took our 2 children (8 and 5) to the telescope experience. We lucked out in that we had perfectly clear skies, so everything was very clear and easy to see. There are 2 parts to the experience: 1. Telescope viewing 2. Hands on Portion Our 8 year old enjoyed both parts and was very engaged with the presenters. Our 5 year old struggled to stay interested in the telescope viewing, but enjoyed the hands on. We enjoyed both presenters as the were very accommodating, informed, and well spoken. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and all came out of it having learned something.
We had such a great time looking at the stars. I learned so much and the people working there were really awesome and knowledgeable. Andrew and Ahad went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. Would recommend to anyone visiting jasper.
Beautiful place but very very expensive and they had with the exception of the war canoes the worst canoes I have seen in a long time
I absolutely loved this wonderful planetarium experience. Ahad was a friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful guide through the Jasper sky. Located on the grounds of Jasper Park Lodge Fairmont, it is worth the trip from town anytime. Roughly 45 minutes in duration, it is great for families as well. It gives great information about the skies of this spectacular area.
Gorgeous views.
Excellent educational
Had such an awesome time here. The dude was super knowledgeable and really impressed us both. Great visuals and definitely a must do on a night in Jasper!
Great experience!
This was such a cool experience staff was very knowledgeable and fun ! We unfortunately got an over casty evening but there is a window if time that you can actually come back to experience the telescope in full effect! So it's still 110% worth going to check out !
Amazing
I really enjoyed the breathtaking views and the highlight of my trip was the Planetarium. Both Ahad and Andrew did an amazing job. They are very knowledgeable and the experience was worth it!!
Great experience at the Jasper Planetarium! The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable and the full experience was very fun- one of a kind. Thank you!!
Awesome stars
Staff was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. It's an educational experience, so it's perfect for you curious types. We ended up not being able to see the sky in the telescope portion of the experience but that's no trouble: they have have a 2-year rain check that you can use for another day for clearer skies in the night.
The guide was awesome and the show really cool, wouldve appreciated more lore with constellations. Only Ursa Major was was shown but we really enjoyed the story about the bear. Did not go for telescope tour because of poor weather.
Absolutely stunning! I had a great time with a group of friends and Hannah did an incredible job! It was out of this world for sure! I've recommended it to some family and friends visiting town and they've all loved HANNAH! :)
I thought the Planetarium was an afterthought everytime I visit Jasper Park Lodge. But now you learned interesting things like the story of the Black Bear on the big dipper and feel different kind of meteorites that burned through Earth's atmosphere.
Amazing experience!
Smoke some weed and go.
We got free tickets during a National Park's day and I was very impressed by how knowledgeable the staff were. Paid to come back later that evening for stargazing and had a great time!
It was overall good experience. Guide was very friendly, funny and well informed about the space/universe. There whole crew is really nice. Planetarium experience was good and we could not properly enjoy the outdoor telescope Experience as it was very cold. They do take you out with binocular on every Wednesday for star gazing in the dark areas. Prices are a little high but its a good experience especially if you are lucky enough to see aurora borealis (northern lights). Make sure to check weather forecast if you want to do star gazing.
It was great learnt a lot well done
This was an absolutely fantastic experience. Started by looking at Saturn and a couple of its moons. Then an excellent planetarium show. Then back to the telescopes for views of several nebulae, start clusters as well as the moon and mars. The folks presenting were incredibly knowledgeable and quite clearly in love with all aspects of astronomy. Can't recommend it too highly.
This planetarium experience seems to be more of a lecture/teaching class rather than a interactive experience. And with the weather being cloudy and heavily raining, it didn’t make sense for them to continue with the program as everything was under a tent to get away from the weather. Overall went in with relatively high expectations and was disappointed.
Our group did the stargazing at Pyramid Lake Resort & had a great time. The clouds cleared for us & we were able to see some planets, stars, galaxies! Peter was able to accommodate our large group on a night that the stargazing typically wasn't offered. Mike was super friendly and took some cool photos of us at the end :)
Amazing experience this last weekend. Our tour leaders were very informative and fun. We were even able to spot the Neowise comet. This was definitely a highlight of our trip!
Thanks to Andrew and Ahad, the planetarium was definitely a highlight of our trip. Seeing Saturn and Jupiter was probably the coolest thing yet.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff make the experience, however we were unfortunate with the weather and telescope viewing was not an option. They kindly offer a '2 year rain check' where you can return any time in 2 years however this remains pretty useless to an international tourist. Simply put we left feeling the experience was far too expensive in poor weather so make sure to check ahead. The weather policy is very clear in the booking process, but I'd challenge whether it should go ahead at all or be refunded in poor weather.
My husband and I recently checked out the Dark Sky Telescope Tour, and had a great evening. They had hot chocolate for us upon arrival, and an interesting presentation in the planetarium below (which was nice and cozy) prior to boarding the tram. Once we arrived up top we enjoyed an astrophotography presentation followed by a walk outside to check out the telescopes and the night sky! We also had a complimentary photo taken by Peter with the town of Jasper in the beautiful backdrop!
Great activity while in Jasper. This area is known for its dark skies.
Amazing experience with my daughters who also enjoyed every bit of it. The host Ahad made it even more entertaining and informative. Learned alot in a short time and had amazing natural views od the stars and planet. I hifhly recommend to visit atleast once.
This was an excellent experience! I've been to Jasper many times but this was one of the best things I have ever done while I was there. I have never heard of it before but am lucky I did. Ahad and Mathew were the guides we had and they were fantastic. Andrew also was great for booking and directions/organization of our visit. Ahad did amazing inside the planetary dome at explaining some pretty complex subjects that are easily digestible by everyone. From moons on other planets to an explanation of the northern lights, there is lots to learn from this experience and from great presenters. Definitely recommend this to anyone
I was on the fence about doing this attraction thought it was one of those pay your respects and leave sort-of deals like the hot springs but boy I was wrong. I chatted with the front desk worker Andrew for a bit he convinced me into a tour. On the tour they had one of the best guides I’ve ever had named Ahad who kept us involved with multiple questions and tons of funny jokes! Would recommend this to anyone!
My experience at the Jasper Planetarium was incredible. I've been to Jasper many times throughout the years, but have always skipped over this hidden gem; now I can't recommend it enough. I was hosted by accommodating, knowledgable, and passionate staff who really created and connected the entire experience for me. Andrew was very helpful with booking, preparation, and directions to the location of the planetarium, and gave us a few options (recommend doing the full planetarium and telescope experience!). Ahad was our host within the planetarium, and his tangible passion for astronomy was inevitably felt throughout. He delivered the information in a fun, accurate, yet easily understood manner. Mathew, as well, was extremely knowledgable when it came to the telescope and we got to see many planets, moons, and stars that night, as well as pictures taken from others! All in all, do not miss out on this!!
It was neat to see something i haven't done in Jasper before. But the one thing I was looking forward to was learning about the aboriginal constellations and the stories. There was one story. The rest was stuff that I could learn the TWOS and have a better experience. They need to improve their program.
We had a great time at the planetarium. The staff was very friendly and answered all our questions, even stayed later than our alloted time.
The staff were very kind and knowledgeable but this is definitely not worth the $40. There were two tents with brief presentations about meteors and auroras followed by some time looking at Saturn and the moon through telescopes. I wouldn't pay more than $15 for the experience. The tents are set up in a tennis court and there's a lot of light pollution so it's also hard to see too much of the stars, go to Pyramid lake instead.
The people who work here are so passionate about what they do, they answered every question we had and the experience was so fun.
The planetarium itself is always an amazing experience! The staff is fabulous, very knowledgeable and outgoing. It is truly a great experience for all ages. The dark sky event was also fabulous, we attended the maligne wilderness kitchen dinner - the food was terrific! The 4 start rating is due to the fact that it was VERY hard to reach someone to speak too. We booked tickets online but had a small error I needed to clarify with someone, so I tried to reach them by phone (I even left messages with a call back #) and wasn’t able to reach them for two days. We finally just waited until we arrived in jasper and went into see them at the desk. They are otherwise a pleasure and very easy to deal with!
Nice to visit at end of your day
Amazing presentation of the beautiful dark sky in Jasper. Steve was a great tour guide. Made it funny, informative and super memorable! Learning about the vastness of our universe blew my mind - and helped me realize how small my problems are! :) Great education while improving mindset ✨
Incredible experience, and tons of great information! Brought a friend back to do it the second time we enjoyed it so much! Thankyou!
Gorgeous views
Great experience!! I love how passionate the staff are. Too bad the weather wasn't as enthusiastic as it was a cloudy night.
Guides were great, but there has to be a policy set by a company to restrict access to clearly drunk people. Laughing throughout the presentation, giggling for no reason throughout the tour, not wearing masks properly just ruined and wasted our evening time. On top of that, didn't get to see through the telescopes.
Waste of time and money! I strongly suggest you skip as it is not a planetarium but some basic tents set up in a tennis court outside the Fairmont. No attempt to use telescope due to cloudy sky even though a few stars could be seen with the eye. A few blurry photos previously taken by the telescope were shown on a screen. Very misleading and overpriced.
Didn't actually get to the planetarium, but the canoe rental and restaurant were very nice.
We went to the Dark sky Festival not knowing we will be surprised with all the things to do. Loved the event “Cocktails and Constellations”, where we got the chance to meet Giela, Andrea and Candice. We were extremely lucky the clouds moved that night and that they were there to show us Jupiter and its four moons, Saturn and its rings, and even hold rocks from Mars and the moon. Definitely coming back every year!
Not an actual Planetarium. Was very disappointed. This is a tent on a tennis court with lawn chairs. Not work the $100 for 2 people. Was told two hours for the planetarium and telescopes and after 45 in the planetarium we then we're told we had a 40min wait until telescope time. We just left as it was already 10:15pm. Pics online were deceiving. Staff was nice, but not the experience I expected.
This is a review for the Stargazing star session on a Mountain top. Unfortunately when my partner and I went to the star session, it was cloudy and rainy. I understand the weather cannot be controlled. But no rain checks can be given for this event as it is actually hosted by the Jasper Skytram. We didn't get to use the telescope at all, since it was covered up due to the rain. And it appears that the presenters for some of the stations were missing when we arrived. Nobody explained much before we head down. Unfortunately we were very disappointed since it was quite expensive. In conclusion, I think if the weather is for sure going to be good, it will probably be worth it. If the forecast is cloudy and rainy, try and get a refund and just visit the planetarium in town instead.
I went there with my daughter for the Planetarium experience. She loved it. The fascination a kid has with seeing the stars on a dome is always special and they did justice to what I wanted for her. The guide too was really sweet as well.
I found as informative as it is, it is very underwhelming for the price. May be it was also because the sky was cloudy, only one star was visible, but no rain check was issued. All 4 of us felt the same, we had expected more for the price.
I booked the planetarium/night sky combo, the planetarium turned out to be a half hour show in a small dome tent with some lawn furniture, and what I thought was going to be a look through a high tech observatory telescope turned out to be a glimpse at a cloudy/rainy sky through some hobby telescopes much like the one in my garage. The whole thing takes place in a vacant area of a hotel grounds. I also paid an extra $30 per person to be driven by school bus to a near by parking lot to stare at a cloudy sky for five minutes at what was supposed to be a meteor shower. I get that they can't control the weather, but their bad weather policy leaves something to be desired, you get a rain check for another date up to two years, but they know full well that the vast majority of people are tourist just passing through and will not be back any time soon. I'd have a lot more respect if they just cancel and refund on rainy days. In Jasper and Banff the star of the show is the area's natural beauty, the touristy cash grabs are best left alone...
Best experience ever! I had no idea there would be a planetarium in Jasper. The guy does all the talking and does a splendid job of it, great humour. I learned a couple of things I never knew, there are dark sky reserves around the world for the purpose of observing the heavens and Jasper area is one of them. Take your family here, it's a must. Oh, and be careful what you whisper cause the folks on the other side of the dome can hear it.
This was possibly the highlight of our trip. Kate was amazing and super super informative and really fun. She made my family laugh and honestly blew out minds!!! I recommend this to anyone who plans a trip to Jasper. I'd give it 10 stars but I can only put 5!!!
Amazingly well done!!! Loved it!! Good job Heather and Matthew! Great presentations. Very informative.
I was a bit disappointed. The planetarium wasn't what I expected, it was a dome tent. Although, the images were good and it was informative. I found a lot of the facts were repeated throughout the night, so it felt like it was just dragging on. Although the skies were not optimal during our visit, they tried their best to educate and tried to make it a bit interactive. There were 2 tents, learning how auroras are created and the other was various types of rocks or meteors that you could touch and look at. The aurora tent was a bit underwhelming, as there wasn't much of a display and not very interactive. The telescope was connected to 2 screens so everyone could see the image at the same time. The staff are very friendly and tried their best to make it fun and informative, but it definitely wasn't what I expected.
Loved this experience. A nice amount of time in a domed tent with a break from the wind and a heater. (Nice break from an extremely cold Christmas ☺️). Loved it and would recommend to anyone who has an interest.
We were fortunate to have a perfectly clear sky night. While the sky cooperated, there were some issues with the monitor blocking our view of Mars. I hope to return post COVID for the normal experience and some more telescope time.
Very educational presentation but wearing a mask outdoors on a cold night fogged up my glasses.
Had the pleasure of stopping in at the Planetarium a few nights ago and have to say that I was truly impressed! The entire experience was unique, exciting, interesting and enjoyable. The staff was extremely welcoming and enthusiastic and truly added to the entire presentation. I spoke to two associates; Andrew and Ahad before attending the show, as they both had only good things to say about the Planetarium... I absolutely had to make the time to see it. Than again to all and I can't wait to bring friends!
Our experience at Jasper planetarium is one of the highlights of our trip to Jasper. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable . The booking was smooth with Andrew"s help, he is a great salesperson by the way, and Ahad did a great job with the virtual tour. .Even though I am not into space and astronomy the vist to this place peaked my curiosity. The passion of the staff in this subject is infectious. Loved it
It was very beautiful.
First rate
It wasn't as much as that I expected. Just ok. Even I felt sleepy. Cause of the weather we couldn't even see the stars. They gave us rain check for 2 years. One thing made us super tried, it has to be very dark to see the sky. So it starts 11pm. With young children can't stand for that.
Seen this thing around but never checked it out. Went tonight, and it was an amazing experience. Learned alot about the Jasper dark skies. Joel definately knows his stuff and can tell he has a great passion for astronomy. The opportunity to view the night sky through their telescopes was impressive. (Even have a guarantee. If you are clouded out, you can come back within the next 2 years for free.) Great reason to come back to one of Canadas greatest National parks. Finished the night off with hot chocolate and s'mores. (Cmon, beat that) As a tour coach driver with many different experiences, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Jasper Planetarium to anyone.
Paid $90 for two people to stand in a blazing hot tent and look at a plasma globe. It wasn't even a big plasma globe. Like a normal plasma globe the type you would buy at Spencer's. Two tents and two telescopes set up on a tennis court. No fans setup in those tents considering a record setting heat wave. I was told by one of the presenters that some rovers had returned to earth from mars. Was also told that oxygen is the most abundant element in our atmosphere. Not worth the money paid. I genuinely feel ripped off. Steve was great though!!
This was a very enjoyable experience for me and my kids. Our tour guide, Katie was very entertaining and kept us engaged throughout her discussion on the solar system, constellations etc. Unfortunately due to bad weather, we were unable to use the telescopes, but we were told we could return to use them anytime within the next two years.
- highly recommended for your Jasper trip! - passionate, knowledgeable, super friendly staff that made it so fun and exciting talking about the cosmos - special thanks to Andrea, Steve and Kate for their outstanding service! - we saw Jupiter, Saturn, the moon and our neighbouring galaxy, Andromeda through the best lenses I’ve (amateur star gazer) ever looked through
Super fun experience with actual meteorites!
Thrilling experience with knowledge
Wonderful evening with the astronomers. Beautiful setting, too.
Really loved this. Learned a lot, comfy chairs and a unique setting. Even though the weather didn’t hold up for us, we stuck with the planetarium part of it and I’m glad we did. Peter was awesome and informative and many parts felt like we were watching a movie! A great escape from a rainy day to see the stars and the universe stretch out right above us. Will always recommend to friends visiting jasper, and sure I’ll be back for the telescopes one day!
Very knowledgeable and very nice and passionate staff, great telescope and equipments and presentation BUT it is not a real planetarium it is just an improvised structure (tents) set up in an old and out off service tennis court. I was naturally expecting more for the price plaid. Most of the photos here does not reflect the place. I do not recommend. Sorry for that.
Learned tons
The experience was fabulious. The show was good, but outside in a tent. The star gazing at night was wonderful. Got to use powerful telescopes one usually can't afford. The staff extremely knowledgeable and willing to work with you. Well worth the price and trip. This experience made my day. (No photos, it was to dark to take.)
Not just nice in the summer, very cool place in the winter as well. We cross country skied from the Whirlpool parking... Highly recommended. Ohh, be careful the walking trails at the falls are not maintained.
Great place part of the Fairmont
Well done
100% appreciate Andrews recommendation to go to this. It was a beautiful night to look at the stars. Ahad was super knowledgeable and gave me a great insight into the history behind the constellations! Definitely recommend to anyone in jasper !

Difficult to contact. Website interface is not user friendly.
The experience was wonderful. My family enjoyed looking at the stars. Joel helped us learn the background of the northern lights. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the northern lights but, we saw many stars and the planet Jupiter. In addition, Andrew gave us facts about the lights which was fascinating. He also, my family was shivering in the cold and politely offered us blankets without being told. Thank you.
The highlight of my trip to Jasper was my experience at the Planetarium. Right from booking to our exit, the opportunity to learn something new was thrilling and existing. Everyone involved were friendly and accommodating. I need to mention in particular, Andrew and Ahad, for the added knowledge and smiles each brought to us the patrons. Andrew and Ahad went out of their way to make sure my wife and I were comfortable, answered any questions we had. For someone so young, they demonstrated a higher level of pride in what they do, displayed excellent customer service, had the ability to answer questions, with details. Andrew and Ahad were personable, friendly and transformed our experience at the Planetarium. I will surely be talking about this positive experience and spread the word so they could experience what I did. Kudos to you both and the team for an excellent display, effort, time and planning. Well worth it. As the famous saying goes...... I WILL BE BACK.
This was a wonderful experience!. Andrew and Ahad were extremely helpful and down right precious!
Visited for the daytime experience, which includes the added bonus of a nighttime visit. I was the only participant on a sunny day and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The two guys who helped me (Sam and Adam?) we're knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful. During the daytime experience it was great to see the sun through the telescope. The nighttime experience was rather more busy but again it was very interesting, with various telescopes and workshops available. Highly recommended.
Well presented
Certainly a bucket list item when in Jasper.
best resort in jasper
Great experience!
Usually I don’t enjoy my trips to Jasper because it’s the same old stuff. But when I came across the planetarium I was blown away! I talked to the nice gentleman named Andrew and he convinced me to make one of the smartest decisions on my trip. He was so polite and funny, I wish I could still talk to him. I had a blast with my time here and boy oh boy, my tour guide, Ahad, was just the cherry on top. He was such a delight to listen to, what a lovely voice! He made it feel like we were really in space. I would 100% recommend this attraction to anyone who is even the slightest bit interested!
I had a fantastic experience at Jasper Planetarium a few nights ago. I was impressed by the sophistication and crispness of the execution by the staff. Andrew and Ahad were two particularly great members of your team. They went above and beyond the expectations I had to deliver a fantastic experience wherein I got to see my first sighting of the northern lights. Not only was their enthusiasm palpable but they made a distinct effort to connect with other guests. My sister and I had a great time talking to them. Congrats Jasper Planetarium for finding great recruits and thank you for a memorable experience.
Our guide was Gaila. I'm not sure of the spelling. She was fantastic! Enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy out, with a very bright full moon so we weren't able to see much. What we did see she told us about in detail and had extra pictures to make up for the weather. We'll definitely take advantage of the re-booking program and come back on a clearer night.
Awesome place!
What an excellent experience, would highly reccomend for anyone visiting jasper. Working here was a blast! Amazing boss and great coworkers! Andrew, Mathew, and Joel were the few folks I worked with the most and all were awesome. The rest of the staff was wicked too! Rock on good folk and keep showing people the glories of the universe!
As a current physics (and once upon a time astrophysics) major, I appreciated the accuracy of the knowledge and it's definitely something I'd recommend to everyone curious about the skies and for the young ones to encourage their scientific curiosity.
Great decision to spend the night at the tour . Steve and Gieh(Giah) were very knowledgeable and entertaining and made it a very educating experience. My husband and I were surprised that Jasper has such a romantic starry night that’s full of stories thanks to the presentation
Great for kids :) Seeing stars and galaxies in real-time with the video telescope was awesome!
Fantastic
The planetarium show was excellent, but save your money and don't pay the extra for the telescope experience. It certainly was not worth doubling the price. The location right next to the main lodge and under a stand of trees also meant you couldn't see the sky (including the stars and constellations) which they had just spoken about in the show. This was very disappointing. The issue isn't necessarily the lighting but the general location right next to the lodge and surrounded in trees. You should be able to look at stars without the telescopes too to get the best experience. Move the location to a clearing further from the lodge or down by the lake. The location is terrible and only way to fix it is to move it or cut down trees.
An excellent night! Very imformative and fun. Good value.
Thank you for going above and beyond Tyler!
Beautiful scenic mountains. Dark at night for the best star gazing.
Awesome! Great presentation. Our person was passionate and interactive.

Very happy with this company. They were easy to book with and understanding when I had to cancel. Thank you:-)
My kids loved the place. ????
Marc, Matthew and the gentleman whos name we forgot, did a great job. Awesome presentation, funny and very knowledgeable. We could ask them ANYTHING. It was worth every penny and is highly recommended!
Always a wonderful experience here. Comfortable, elegant beautiful grounds. Great cocktails.
Great place
I came to Jasper for the 2018 Dark Sky Festival, and attended many events presented by Peter and the amazing staff of Jasper Planetarium. Spent several nights up late observing the amazing skies of Jasper from remote dark sky sites, and in town, and was never disappointed. the numerous telescopes provided by and staffed by the planetarium were impressive, and staffed by great knowledgable people who provided stunning views of the night skies, and useful information about local points of interest in and around Jasper, and the national park. Special thanks to Peter and the great staff at Jasper Planetarium, including Georgette, Elise, Joel, Emma, and a few others who's names I can't remember. I had an AMAZING time, and highly recommend that you check it out when in Jasper or surrounding areas!
Planetarium was awesome, even if space isn't your thing it is still very cool. Ahad's excitement when giving a "tour of the galaxy" was awesome. Andrew booked me in for the tour and he was super nice and funny.
Happy that i came! Had some great informative tours!! Hannah really had the patience helping me see the planets which i appreciate. and Georgette she gave the tour good vibe because she is exciting to learn about learning new people and travel experience which i dont normally see in tourist places. Ahad and Peter are very knowledgeble! Emm thanks for the tour, and Georgette, really nice to meet a enthusiastic person like u!
Great stuff!
Andrea and Giela made an incredible presentation! They shared great information about what we were seeing in the sky Lots of opportunities to look through the telescopes and never rushed us.They had great energy .We got to actually touch moon and mars pieces and they did this keeping us safe during this covid time.Highly recommend this experience.Andrea and Giela made this night perfect!.Candice was our host and she was so pleasant and welcoming.
This place is highly recommend to be visited. Great customer service, wonderful staff, something new to see.
Everything about Jasper is fabulous, everyone should see Jasper Park Lodge. You are well taken care of.
We had a wonderful time at the planetarium and telescope viewing. The staff, specifically Peter, Ahad, Joel, and Matt were knowledgeable and entertaining. We were able to view the Andromeda Galaxy, many different unique stars, various Nebulas, and stunning views of Mars and Saturn. Worth every penny.
All the staff were very knowledgeable and it was very interactive !
Amazing experience! Steve, Tyler and Kayleen really made this experience great with their extensive knowledge of space and their presentations. I especially loved getting too see actual rocks from the moon and mars! I will definitely be coming back in the summer!
My Partner and I are from Australia . We visited the Jasper Planetarium in May 2018. It was a freezing night but with all the excitement of the evening we soon warmed up. Hannah was amazing introducing us to the large telescope to view the moon so large and close . The under the stars programme was amazing and very informative. We both learnt so much and enjoyed the quizzes on what we had seen. Hannah was very professional and sweet showing us around the telescopes and camera etc and made us feel the long trip from Australia was worthwhile . We would recommend The Jasper Planetarium a must see when visiting Jasper.
I am not in to space kind of stuff but I thought of experiencing wonderful star gazing reading reviews. But disappointed.
We had a really fun time. Skies cleared up and we were able to see some cool stuff despite the full moon. My young son said the planetarium talk was "epic!"
I had so much fun at the planetarium! Andrew and Ahad were very friendly and informative. It almost felt like I was getting special treatment the entire time!
Excellent! We had our own private viewing! The weather was frigid but we'll worth it and the local astronomer Peter, gave us the royal treatment. The telescopes are spectacular but the sky was uncooperative but again Peter made sure we didn't miss anything ????
It was really fun to learn about the constellations and Aurora borealis through the presentation, which was very well done. Ahad was the young man who conducted the presentation. He was informative, engaging and pretty funny. Andrew was also very professional and helpful. My wife and I really enjoyed our time at the jasper planetarium. We will definitely be visiting again!
Wonderful. So amazing to experience. Highly recommend.
I loved my experience at the Jasper Planetarium. I get the sense that the planetarium staff truly love the stars and all the legends around them. They are super knowledgeable. I also seen a group of people there too which was kind of a cool idea if someone was looking for a company event for their staff. The planetarium seems to be managed really well so I suspect approaching them would give you some good options. I highly recommend this activity in jasper.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience. Our hosts Ahad and Georgette were the best! Thank you.
I'd like to give some genuine constructive feedback only because I was genuinely very excited to participate in this. I'll go by sharing each part of the tour and my feedback on it, starting with the dome. We booked our tour for the 29th of June, Tuesday. My wife and I had booked the planetarium dome and telescope tour combo for $65/ person. The dome experience was fine, and the presenter was great. A bit awkward to get people to participate but a good experience nonetheless. The one thing I will point out though is, you have to make sure you're not sitting to the chairs closest to the center, because the dome is built in a way that is meant to cover as much image as possible for people on both sides of the dome, that it becomes difficult if you're in the center trying to position your head to try to watch on image on one side, or seeing if the other image works better. Anyways, long story short, chairs in the center equals a nice neck ache. When it was time to head back to the telescope and tents tour, we were split into 2 groups, one to the meteorite tent, and the other to the Aurora Borealis tour. Realistically speaking, I just think that this part of the tour is not for everyone. I was quite bored and really just wanted to quickly get to the telescope section as I was really anticipating that part of the tour. Again this is not to say that the tents are not for everyone, there were some parents and kids there that were genuinely interested and participated lots, but it just wasn't for me. And finally, we got to the part I was most looking for, the telescopes and live footage on the 4K TV screens, and the best way I can explain this is.... Underwhelming... And here's why! So the first telescope we were sent to, I can't remember the name of the presenter, but he was a bit of an older gentleman compared to the other presenter. He wore a black shirt and had a female co-worker helping him out. He was kind of all over the place with the presentation and I really wasn't sure where the presentation was going with him. We saw a bright start on the screen, and then another bright star... And maybe another? Anyways, I was a bit disappointed because I thought we'd see maybe, idk, a planet? Something with more detail? Even if it was the moon I would've felt more satisfied. That day we were going through the heat wave and we had completely clear skies, so I guess I was just expecting a bit more. The second telescope the presenter was a bit more focused, I don't remember his name, but he was wearing a white shirt and was a bit younger. With this telescope we did see some star cluster, the ring nebula, and I think some more stars? Anyways, it was a bit more satisfying, but my biggest feedback was the amount of time. We zoomed through these telescopes extremely quickly that I felt like we barely had the chance to see more things in the sky. I really wanted to maybe see a planet, or more nebulas, but it all just felt very rushed and like they wanted to kick us out as soon as they could. I really think for the amount that we end up paying, even just 10 mins more on the telescopes, and I would've felt a bit more satisfied. In conclusion, I think the efforts of the team there are recognizable. I'm sure it is not easy to set that entire tour together, and I very much respect the efforts, but, maybe a big issue with this is the advertising? I feel like I was expecting one thing, and got something completely different? They put a lot of emphasis on the telescopes, but as mentioned before, the amount of time you spend with them is quite disappointing. I understand that they pride themselves in being the more economic tours, but even if that is the case, I would be lying if I said I didn't feel a tiny bit ripped off, because it is a whole lot of money for a very very little amount of time. I hope the team can take this feedback and think of what areas the tour can improve on
Jasper has light pollution restrictions in whole town.
Good for adults too!
Seeing the telescopes up close was a cool experience. Andrew and ahad as guides made that experience 10x better and were very helpful in answer any questions
This place is definitely a must when coming to jasper! Ahad was a very good host and very funny, the show was very entertaining and informative. I will definitely be recommending it to my friends and family! And andrew was helpful at retail
For $60 per person, this wasn't worth it. The planetarium part wasn't bad, but don't bother with the telescope tour. Not only did we not get to look into any telescope (because of covid), they offered a 2 year raincheck to come back when it's clearer skies. Why would they book a tour if space weather.com says it's overcast. Definitely disappointed, especially the first 30 mins watching a slideshow of some photos someone took
The whole thing for the money is a joke. It is a tent on the tennis court and some toy telescope. 7th grade science class is better that this. No idea where the good reviews are coming from. A lot of people were leaving after the tent show
Pizza was wonderful and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.
Wonderful learning experience and got an amazing view of Jupiter and her moons as well as a look at Saturn out in the void of space the rings the abyss gave her proudly displayed.
Don't waste your money, this is for losers who know nothing, so mediocre!
We had the daytime experience and the kids found it to be amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we got to spend some extra time gazing at the sun. Well worth the time to check it out. Next trip we hope to see the northern lights.
They lack attention to detail
I highly recommend visiting the Jasper Planetarium. I absolutely loved listening to the astronomy experts speak with such passion for what they do and will definitely be back again. Thanks Joel and Peter for such a great experience!
Was very knowledgeable about the solar system had alot of fun and learned alot as well. Great experience for the family.
Absolutely beautiful
Had an amazing time at Jasper Planetarium. The entire staff and crew were very knowledgeable and made it an extremely pleasant experience. The show in the dome was great & getting to see Jupiter and Saturn through the telescopes was surreal. Andrew and Ahad especially were super friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we all had a fantastic night. I am definitely going to recommend this to all friend’s & family visiting Jasper in the future! Great job Jasper Planetarium!
Such a spectacular experience, would definitely recommend!! All employees were friendly, funny and very educated about the cosmos.
Awesome views from the dining room and the patio. Excellent meal choices too!
It was a good place to learn about stars and planets and to see all the different animals and galaces
I highly recommend going there. It is an amazing experience in the Rockies. Our presenter's name was Ahad and he made our experience wonderful. Later on Joel, Emma, Ahad and Hannah showed us planets and deep space objects. They were all knowledgeable and answer all my questions. I would highly recommend going there and had a great time.
We did a night tour on the last day they offered it for this year at Pyramid Lake with Peter. Although we did not get to see the northern lights, it was an amazing experience. Peter's tour was informative and humorous and he made sure to answer all the questions we had. I think we developed a new hobby of stargazing!
The sky is a fabulous place especially when explained by an expert.
Spectacular view
Wonderful experience. Brief evening (1hour) and nice to also take in Fairmont Jasper Lodge as it is same property. Come early to walk about the place to take in the scenery.
Thoroughly enjoyed the planetarium experience! Will be back for telescope experience soon!
Loved it, Steve did amazing. I learned a lot!
We reserved tickets for the planetarium-telescope package. While the planetarium show was quite interesting, the telescope viewing was very disappointing. The only thing we got to do was simply look AT the telescope from a distance as well as past telescope images while standing in the sub-zero cold. Our guide kept reiterating the 2-year raincheck, but to be honest it was a waste of time and money and we will likely not be coming back. This experience made us realize that it is more worthwhile to simply stare up at the sky on a clear night. A tourist trap and not recommended.
Indy was an amazing guide! Fantastic experience all around.
Had a great night at the Planetarium. Forecast wasnt the greatest as there was cloud cover but staff did their best to keep us entertained regardless, and we will definitely use the two year rain check on our next visit! Courtney also got us some great photos of the moon with our cell phones when it did peak out. Great night overall!
Great show, should definitely get the package where you sit inside the dome and listen to the presentation. if its really cloudy and you couldn't see much, you could decide to rebook it for free.
Entertaining
Shame about the smoke from the fires, however still a very cool experience.
We had a great experience. The host Ahad was very knowledgable and provided very clear and relevant information throughout the show. Definitely a must see.
This is a great experience, I recommend doing the Combo as the mini-planetarium is fun, but is really just half of the experience. With most of the experience coming afterwards. If you have the endurance Wild Wednesdays is really great too.
Great people and presentation but very expensive given the facilities. And prepare to be heckled by the presenter if you leave the presentation to warm up at the fire pit.

Wastage of money ????????

Excellent place to be with family and your pets, to explore and enjoy, the employees treat you as if you were at home, they are very friendly and very cordial, I recommend this place, I give them thousands and thousands of stars for being a very welcoming place and spectacular !!!
We had a wonderful date night at the Jasper Planetarium at the JPL. The staff was amazing, the setup very cool and we learned so much. I would highly recommend it.
(Translated) Good but lack of renovation (Original) Bien mais manque de rénovation
Awesome Amazing place know more about stars have a look
Wish there was more of a store for telescopes and the sort
Beautiful
This was pretty cool especially if you like stars and planetariums. Dark here so the views are really good if there are no clouds.
If you're a family of 4 then I would recommend investing $400 into a decent telescope (which btw you can keep with you for the rest of your life) and bring it to Jasper. The so called "planetarium" is nothing but a 20ish feet dome setup in a parking lot along with some intermediate level telescopes and some lawn chairs. The staff tries so hard to convince you that you spent your money wisely but this whole gig is nothing but a sham.If you are lucky enough to get a clear sky, which is highly unlikely, you get to see a planet or two through their moderate telescopes and if not, you get a rain check for 2 years and if you don't plan on coming back, you are basically out of 100 bucks. Again, the staff tries to show you some pics that "they took" "right there" and try to get you excited about it but if you have ever Googled astrophotography pictures online, you'll find no reason to get excited about it and would rather want a refund. I got a very cloudy sky on the day of my visit and I have no plans of going back there within the next 2 years and I wish I never signed up for this tour.
We went to the Pyramid Lake site. Disappointed in the format of this experience. We did not come to Jasper to watch Powerpoint presentations. Much more time should be spent looking at the actual sky, with the guide pointing out stars and constellations. My kids did not learn one star or constellation! The telescope should be a supplement and only part of the experience with most time spent looking at the actual sky. Staring at a bright computer screen on a grade-school level presentation about Auroras could be done at home. Our day had light cloud. The guide spent the whole time changing settings on the computer and adjusting the telescope. Yet we could still see many stars and planets in the actual sky - a complete missed opportunity to enjoy the natural sky. Also while Jasper is a Dark Sky Preserve this takes place near a bright parking lot and hotel with many lights shining, plus the above mentioned bright computer screens really makes it hard to see the actual sky. It should be taking place in a dark field away from buildings and vehicles. Given the experience it is definitely overpriced. Honestly the whole thing feels like a cash grab for unsuspecting tourists.
Had an awesome time at the planetarium last night, Andrew at the front desk was really informative and helpful, and Ahad gave a great presentation. They have some huge telescopes and on a clear night you can see lots of cool stuff.
(Translated) Price / performance ratio is a joke! Absolutely no recommendation! (Original) Preis/Leistung ist ein Witz! Absolut keine Empfehlung!
Ahad and Andrew did amazing job in presentation. Planetarium was the highlight of my trip because of them. Keep up the good job
If you want to take advantage of being in Jasper and how they are a dark sky preserve you better make time in your schedule for this tour of the stars with some of the most passionate employees you’ve ever met. To start off the night my group was taken into the comfort of the dome (away from the mosquitoes) where we sat in cozy chairs and listened to our tour guide Ahad as he told stories and cheesy jokes along with a presentation that keeps you intrigued and wanting more when it’s done. Once that was over we were assisted the rest of the night by Andrew and Matthew with the viewing experience looking at many of the brightest stars in the sky and also planets in our solar system. These two were particularly great when it came to answering any questions one may have had that night and worked very hard to give us the best viewing possible as it was quite a cloudy night.
Really cool! The guides were great. I suggest you do the 10:30pm show.
Enjoyed the Star Sessions - Flight & Meal Package. I was beyond our expectations. They did warn us it would be cold and windy (snowy) at the top of the mountain and to dress accordingly. It definitely was snowing up there but it was spectacular. We were able to see Saturn and a moon through the telescope. The stations and experiences were really good and informative. The dinner was excellent (way above expectations). We would definitely recommend this experience to friends and family. Just dress for the weather!
The planetarium was interesting. The telescope was disadvantaged by being set up in a tennis court within the hotel complex but the staff were enthusiastic and knowledgable about their subject, the equipment very impressive and if it's cloudy weather they give a 2 year raincheck.
It's really a money theft. The worst thing I've ever saw Don't waste your money. They show only one show a tiny light in a computer screen and say a sort of nonsense info ! Shame on you for the price you charge for this. Money and time wasted!
Was small but was an excellent viewing
I cannot say enough amazing things about this Planetarium! The staff were able to adjust our schedule so that we could have the most amazing star viewing while in Jasper. The entire team is obviously incredibly passionate about astronomy and their enthusiasm was infectious. We will be coming back again.
Entertaining and informative! A unique and amazing experience. A very good way to enjoy the Dark Sky Preserve!
Expensive for the attractive showed. All the guys are funny, kind and attentions, but the planetarium stuff is week, poor information and infrastructure.
Jasper Planetarium was an awesome experience. The movie shown was informative and Ahad was a great narrator. The star gazing after was incredible and allows you to see the most stars you've ever seen. Andrew was very knowledgeable and fun to talk to as I went from telescope to telescope
(Translated) The best~~~ (Original) 최고요~~~
Good place to take your kids to for a day trip. Not too far from Calgary and the scenery on the way is beautiful. The cafeteria is closed due to Covid19 restrictions which is bummer so carry your food.
The information and staff were amazing. I learnt so much but unfortunately the terrible quality of the video in the dome really hindered the experience.
We really enjoyed the young man's enthusiasm about the topic - (wish I knew his name!) I especially enjoyed the Indigenous references to the bear constellation. If anything, I'd like to hear more about the Indigenous stories. The in-dome presentation was comfortable and super interesting. The 2 telescopes in the parking lot did not show much more than the naked eye and weren't especially impressive, but the video scope showing a nebula etc. was cool. My only other comment is that 9-11pm is tough to do if you are commuting to a campsite, it is late and we were tired after a day of hiking. Maybe 8-10 pm would also work?
Kids had great fun and are still talking about it weeks later. Huge Note: kids under 4 are NOT permitted. They outline this point when booking your tickets, but some may still assume that it is GOOD for kids 4+ and that babies can still go inside the dome for free. Unfortunately, no.
Steve was amazing, he deverves a raise!
This is a series of tents in a tennis court. Feel it was a touch erred in describing itself as a planetarium... especially for the price of entry. Perhaps I am spoiled from previous planetariums I have attended. Feeling it was not worth the cost of entry is possibly because I felt it was advertised properly.
I was on the planetarium plus telescope experience. The planetarium offers a pretty dim and low resolution projection of mostly our night sky with zooming in to specific stars. Overall the experience was pretty ok, if you'd skip the unnecessary round to ask every person where they are from. For about 5-10 minutes we watched an amateur made strange video of people in jumpsuits and animal masks in a forest acting out an Aboriginal legend. The telescope experience was a little better. The staff is knowledgeable, but not having academic roots to my knowledge. The combo experience was ok and a nice way of spending the late evening, but the $60 / person was way overpriced for the quality we got. Edit: yes, I'd love to know about the credentials of the staff. We had a chance look through the telescope, yes.
Dark sky telescope was raincheck, due to cloudy night. But planetarium was awesome for my 7 year old!
We booked the planetarium plus astronomy experience; the guide was absolutely incredible and very, very knowledgeable - he was an amazing storyteller, an absolute gem to talk to, answered all of our questions, and we had many! The weather was cloudy so there was limited viewing of the sky, but he was prepared and showed us lots of locally taken pictures (by him and a few other people) of celestial objects and talked about them at length. We had slightly unrealistic expectations about what the planetarium was going to look like (having been many times to the London planetarium), so we were a bit apprehensive when we arrived as it is smaller and looks less cool on the outside than it is on the inside - but once you're in you won't be disappointed. Recommend this experience to anyone.
I really enjoyed the jasper planetarium , it’s truly a must if your traveling to jasper ! telescopes-and-stargazing was a wonderfully experience that our family is still talking about !
