Love it there. Working on my diploma in massage therapy
I Graduated from the massage therapy program in 2018 at Eastern College Halifax campus, I personally had a very positive experience. It has provided me with not only a career I can financially be stable with, but has made it possible for me to wake up every morning and say "I love what I do," which never seemed possible before. Eastern College has changed my life around dramatically, I'm very grateful to not only the school, but the wonderful instructors that they hired to teach me. I know I put a lot of time and effort into making sure I graduated, but honestly couldn't have done it with out my instructors! For example one of my instructors Bobbi Jo stayed after class on her own time on several occasions, helping with any concerns, and even reading over questions with me to make sure I understood what she was teaching. She never made me feel I was burdening her for asking for the extra help I needed and I can't even express how thankful I am that Bobbi was one of my instructors. To this day if I still needed help/had questions from anyone of my instructors I know they would be there no matter what so thank you Cindy, Dan, Marsha and Bobbi Jo for being a constant support team over the past few years! If you are considering changing your career, or just starting a new chapter I would definitely choose Eastern College Massage Therapy program!
I studied at Eastern College for two years in the massage therapy programme. I am so happy that I choosed this college. The teachers and staff are all so super supportive, they go above and beyond to make sure no man is left behind. I definitely recommend this college!
This place is an actual joke the only upside was I had a great teacher, I graduated in May of 2021 its now January 2022 I still don't have a diploma or any of my certifications. I’ve called multiple times the first couple times they said it wasn’t ready yet, another time they said it was being mailed to me, the last time I called they said they had no record of it. They told me to email the person who handles it but of course they never responded. I spent 20 grand on a course where you read off a PowerPoint everyday just to not get a diploma or certifications i was promised. 20 thousand dollars to get the run around every time you call, if they even decide to answer. Would have been better off to go to NSCC. Stay away from this place. EDIT: Conveniently after I posted this review I get an email saying they have my diploma and certifications ready. Guess their preferred method of communication is google reviews.
as a positive, they do actually have a food bank for their students... ha...ha
If I could give this place a minus star rating, I would! I speak for many that would also agree. This school is an absolute joke. It’s run by an incompetent director, that doesn’t do anything for the students. A complete waste of money enrolling in this school. I could go on all day on reasons why to take your money and spend it elsewhere. Talk to any students that attended eastern college in the last 5 years and they’ll give you a good insight on how laughable this place is. Do.not.go.here
I attended Eastern College for the Continuing Care Assistant program. I decided to attend Eastern College after finding a lack of fulfilment regarding work using my business degree. My goal in getting a second degree from Eastern College was to branch out and explore different possible fields I may like to work in- alongside making my portfolio stronger. That was when I stumbled across the C.C.A program - and from then on my path forward was clear. I have so much positive feedback to give Easter College , the facilitators, partnerships and experience, that it's easiest to break it down into four main aspects. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE STAFF: The staff is truly one of the best aspects of this college. The educators are not only going over material and providing testing- but have themselves worked in AT LEAST one aspect of the field you're training for. Having the first hand experience, trade knowledge and the insights of where the field is going adds to a truly enriched education experience. Personally speaking, the educators are respectful, thoughtful, and have a VERY HIGH level of emotional intelligence that they bring to work on a daily basis. It keeps class captivated, current and adds a personal/social component to what's being taught. THE TIME: Considering how getting this diploma took less than a year to get- made me job ready after graduation and ALLOWS ME TO WORK ANYWHERE IN CANADA --> It was another win/win/win combination I got though Eastern. I have moved to British Columbia after graduation for personal reasons- but having the option to work in the field I feel competent, compassionate and fulfilled in means the world to me. THE EXPERIENCE: The classes are broken into modular components. Having the schedule of learning be a 1-2-3 kind of system, versus jumping all over the syllabus throughout the year allowed for a predictable structure and expectation for what was to come as the year continued. The amount of class, lab and field experience left me feeling confident, competent and safe when providing care to residents. THE REWARD: Having a degree, making a good living wage, having the ability to do this work anywhere in Canada - and the of support you have even after graduation though Eastern College makes it BY FAR my favourite. I even got to enjoy working alongside the A.I.D.S coalition due to connections I made though the college. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND- AND HAVE.
The Interior Decorating course was a bit pricey but overall a lot of fun and informative. I learned a lot from Cheryl in regards to styles and the basics of Interior Decorating. Having a teacher that owns her own decor business was definitely beneficial to us as students. But I do wish the course taught more about how to start your own Interior Decorating business because once we graduated it was hard finding those resources alone. The campus was organized and all of the staff/faculty were very helpful.
A horrible place and nothing more than a provincial loan money-laundering factory. All this place does is get your provincial loan money and waste your time. You will default on that loan because you cannot get job !!! why ??? - The diploma is not worth the paper it is printed on. I have complained through the province and CBC did an investigation. TriOS are criminals but the province won’t prosecute!!! Tax-Payer funder fraud factory. AVOID THIS SCAM - AT ALL COSTS.
I, with many other people on here, had reviews on Google Maps about Eastern College. Today they sent me a survey about my experience, and it made me want to quote my Google review. That's when I discovered this secondary section had been created. I thought all our reviews had been deleted at first. I believe this is EC trying to get fresh reviews. It's also strange how my review won't show up on the EC review page, and Reviewsii, the site they take their reviews from, just mysteriously won't accept it. There's no swearing or anything it... Just won't show up. Boy howdy, how mysterious! So basically this is the equivalent of deleting comments. So here is the review I posted 10 months ago: "I am in the IT NSS program currently, and the only reason I'm remaining in the school at all is that I have two months left before a work placement that I created myself, and consider having the diploma to be expensive insurance and little else at this point. I had a meeting with the campus director about this, and he asked me to send him a list of the negative experiences I'd had in my six months at the school. I stopped at three pages because I didn't feel like continuing. I had several other students sign off on it, because this class is not full of smiling people. Every other thing that the school does, decides, or hands out to you is broken, disorganized, or outright incorrect. When I say that the over TriOS staff puts in bare minimum effort, I completely mean it. My teacher George was excellent, and the computers were fine, but most of the materials were incomplete, ridden with mistakes, unchecked before being presented to us, or totally broken. George has been absent from class due to illness for almost a month at this point, and Eastern College does nothing to fix the value proposition of this. At the end of the day, Eastern College takes your money and gives very little in return. In fact, if they withhold value, they're not willing to do anything to replace it. Teacher missing for 1/6 months? Tough luck. Every other thing that EC does has mistakes or no effort put into it: - Downloading a 14 year old exam, not editing it, and presenting it as an assignment even though it's using a program we were told to never use and includes instructions that are, literally speaking, not possible. - Our phone numbers were taken "only for emergencies". They immediately began to send us spam links for surveys and contests, and began to call our cellphones when we were absent. I'll repeat that: if you were absent, they called your cellphone and asked where you were. My answer was usually "You're not providing me with any instruction today (again, instructor only present for 5/6 months) and I have actual work to do". - While I was temporarily in two other classes, the rest of my class was finishing up the A+ section and doing an exam for it. Almost everyone dramatically failed that exam, to the point that it would have failed almost the entire class. So he just bumped up the participation score to not fail most of the students. - Enforced "assemblies" you have to go to, or be marked absent, even on an exam day. - Your Windows 10 book will have command-line information in it. Almost all of them have the incorrect syntax and don't work at all. Meaning no one edited any of them. This is incredibly common throughout the materials you'll receive. We also received a "cheat sheet" because of this problem - which was unchecked by anyone and also full of mistakes. I had to correct a fair portion of it before deciding it really wasn't my responsibility to fix the courseware. Expect this problem to be consistently present throughout your education here. I can go on and on. I'd just paste my email if I had the space. Eastern College is here for Eastern College, not for it's students. My average is currently 96% and I can tell you with certainty that if you come here, you're not getting the value out of your money."
I'm currently a student at Eastern College i am 4 weeks into my program and love every minute of it, my first Prof was great her name is Rebecka Smith she really helped me out and opened my eyes to the tools you need to succeed. The entire staff is very helpful and accomodating, and very friendly Great place to go to school and even better people to go through it with teaching you.
Eastern College has an excellent interior decorating program. We have employed several grads and interns over the years and have been very happy with the depth of knowledge they bring to our store network.
Had a massage and it was awesomeness.
I must say this is a GREAT improvement from the previous incarnation of the "other" massage school in Nova Scotia!! The location is super-convenient, lots and lots of parking, and the campus is well laid out and quite professional. The syllabus is similar to the downtown massage school, as is the cost - i would say they are nearly interchangeable.
I have recently completed my graduation from eastern college in the course of accounting and payroll administration and get job at the same place I get internship. I always get support from professor and all staff of eastern college. Thank you so much to eastern college who support me through my study and after.
I got a adequate education at Eastern college in their massage therapy program and feel the need to clear its name a little here. Just like all schools EC offers courses where you are not going to get a job upon completion. This is not a knock against their course, it's just not a strong job market. I for instance had a job waiting for me when I graduated because I researched the job and knew the market was strong. It's not a schools fault if you can't get a job in a weak market. Make sure you research your desired fields people before spending your time in money to join them. In closing I would like to say the school is not perfect, but they never are. I can only speak of the courses I took, but I thought the school prepared me thoroughly for my desire field.
Free hair cuts ✂️????
RUN!! Please do not go here. Take your money somewhere else.
We love Eastern College and their continued support for their community and students! The students coming from this school are skilled and ready for the workplace. Thank you for everything you do!
We have gone to Eastern College for at least 10 yrs. For my wife's massage and mine. Never a complaint on our part. Come out feeling a lot better
High cost, low standards. They are out for profit.
Supportive instructors, inviting campus and convenient class schedule so you can still work while attending.
I went to Eastern College when it was in Dartmouth. We had to make due what we had to work with. Dodi made everything so easy. I took the CCA program and Dodi was my main instructor. We was the first class she had. Ryan was the dean at the college. I'm so glad I choose Eastern Collage. Dodi was the best !! So good that all of us passed. I highly recommend this place. Wouldn't think twice. I got a job before I was even finished. I did my research before the course.
Garbage
Great school, with amazing teachers. Start dates year round, so no waiting
Do not recommend - was told to borrow a computer from a neighbour during the pandemic in order to stay on top of my course while the school temporarily shut down, when voicing my concerns about the difficulties of at home learning with a school aged child - was then told how to be a “Good role model” to my child, when that was never one of my concerns or the schools business for that matter... I will be finished school in a few months and I feel very little prepared. The teachers are great, however administrative support is not. This review is lucky I have to give 1 star! because if I could give, 0 I would.
Amazing student massage therapy clinics! Students are very informed, and for just $20, you can't go wrong!
I graduated from the Massage Therapy program offered at Eastern College in 2018. One of the reasons I chose to attend Eastern College was because of the convenient location of the campus as well as the flexible hours. What I got when I left was a wonderful education and an amazing job. The program is 2 years of combined classroom theory as well as hands on clinical experience that prepares you for the demands of the career. The instructors are highly experienced, kind and professional. Once I graduated I made the decision to take my board exams offered in New Brunswick which allows me to practice Massage Therapy in many provinces across Canada. I was prepped for the exams during the program which gave me (and the others in my class who took their boards) the confidence to test myself on everything I had learned over the past 2 years. I was successful and passed my board exams and have enjoyed working for a wonderful company since leaving school. I would recommend Eastern College to anyone looking for a challenging experience with rewarding results. If you work hard you will have the full support of the staff who are patient and very helpful.
Unorganized learning environment, and discriminatory practices.
We've had a few students doing their work term at Renovators Resource in Halifax, Great experience!
I had challenges that comes w/returning to the classroom as a mature learner. These folks are very patient and will better than match your efforts to finish successfully. Thanks Eastern teachers and staff....????
Poor excuse for an education. FOR PROFIT career "college"
Absolutely terrible. A waste of time and money. You'd get a better education working at McDonalds.
I have a long-term bond with Eastern College. Several students completed their co-op under my supervision and now doing an excellent job career. The unique thing that attract me is students know exactly what is necessary for company's payroll.
I was enrolled in the massage therapy program at eastern college in Halifax. Overall my experience there was positive, the staff was great and did their best to help in anyway that they could. My biggest issue was with some of the powerpoints & testing materials - now, when I was taking my course they were transitioning to a new program so hopefully this is no longer an issue. But seriously "gustation: the sense of smell" - get outta here.
I have been to the Halifax location several times. The staff are more than helpful and professional and the therapists are very caring and knowledgeable. I consistently have received an effective treatment.
Very annoying policy. I called to get basics information about some programs..like start date, I got no informations.. and they told to go there in person. I got there in person and no one is available to help me with these basics information. Now, I went back home without any information. I just wonder if they really want people attending their programs. Wasted my time????
Currently attending to strengthen my computer skills. After one week I have to admit that I am jacked about being back in school. When it comes to "you get out what you put in", truer words were never spoken!
My son attended Eastern College last year and took the Supply Chain & Logistics program. I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for him. From the moment we walked through the door to apply for student loans right up to him walking across the stage at graduation there has been nothing but the best from everyone we met. I would recommend this college to not just students wanting to go to post secondary but to parents who are looking for somewhere for their children to go where they will be helped and supported through the whole process. Once again, Thank all of you.
