Girl Boss chess has literally been a game changer for my daughter. the engagement of the teachers and a focused and enthusiastic group of peers has helped my 8 year old gain confidence in her intellect, in speaking up, in interacting with and supporting others. She can see by showing up and trying it helps others do the same. She gets excited to do chess homework. Our instructor Khadidja has been really clear and friendly, and it has made a world of difference. My daughter loves chess! Thank you for this brilliant platform!

Our daughter participated in Course 1 & 2 and it was a fantastic experience. She has really developed a passion for chess and prior to this had rarely played a match. This was a fantastic class. I wanted to take chess to expand my ability to approach strategy and think ahead. And while I had played a handful of games prior to this class, I really had no idea what I was doing and it took me forever to make a move. Others in the class had no experience at all. Ingrid made sure that each of us got what we needed out of the class and we all came away with a solid understanding of the game. I love it now. I also met some really cool people. This was a great class. Girl Boss Chess also has a class for girls. Getting girls into chess early will improve their academics and ability to think logically. I can't recommend Ingrid or her classes highly enough.

Ingrid and her chess coaches have been amazing at getting and keeping my daughter enthralled in this amazing sport. My daughter was so excited to get her first chess board and she continues to enjoy attending class each week. I cannot recommend the classes at Girl Boss Chess strongly enough. From a parent’s perspective, the courses are high quality and well designed with a focus on skills. You can tell that the instructors care the kids learn chess properly. They meet the students where they are and challenge them in a supportive environment. I’m always surprised by how much my daughter learns in a class. From my 6-year-old’s perspective, she gets to have fun playing chess with Stella (instructor). She looks forward to her classes every week and talks about the interesting puzzles they solved and the cool things they learned. Chess has become super fun.

I always thought Chess was for the extremely brilliant. In my youth, I don't remember having an opportunity to learn to play, and in any case it looked too complicated a game to learn. But about a year ago I so, I heard someone say, Chess is an excellent game to learn, as the lessons are applicable to life. So, when I saw an ad offering lessons for girls, I contacted Ingrid to ask if she would consider teaching women. After conducting a poll, and discovering that other women were also interested in learning to play Chess, Ingrid created classes for us. Long story short, I love the game, but it's probably because Ingrid is an excellent, and patient teacher!!!!!!!!! Like the main character in "The Queen's Gambit" said, Chess can be beautiful!

We are so fortunate to have found Girl Boss Chess! My 10 year old daughter has completed course 1 and is looking forward to starting course 2. The instruction is fun and engaging without being intimidating or overwhelming. My daughter has developed a love of the game of chess and has really enjoyed connecting with her instructor Stella (so awesome) and other girls - especially during covid. It has been a definite highlight in our home and has got all of us playing! Now our chess board remains set-up on our dining room table - always ready for a game! Our experience with Girl Boss Chess has been nothing short of absolutely phenomenal. We met Ingrid online over the 1st lockdown and she quickly managed to capture our 5yr old's attention and introduce her to the magical world of Kings & Queens and the dynamics of the pieces on the board. Words cannot begin to describe the joy Girl Boss Chess brings to our daughter. She looks forward to weekly homework, asks for more, begs to attend Chess Playground Tournaments on Sundays and is always looking forward to her weekly class. The staff is simply fantastic: dedicated, nurturing, engaging and simply put: PASSIONATE. We have had the honour of having Ingrid and Stella teach us but cannot wait to meet the rest of the team! If you want your child to grow and develop through the eyes of chess, THIS IS IT! At only 6yrs old, our daughter has sharpenened her analytical and critical thinking skills, boosted her confidence, deepened her focus, increased her creativity and planning skills, not just on the board, but IN REAL LIFE! Through these lockdowns due to the pandemic, chess has kept my daughter in a mentally safe and healthy place. My child was able to build on her problem solving skills and only after a few short weeks I saw her confidence grow and no other program has done this for her. I signed my 5 year old daughter up for the spring break camp just grateful she would have something to do. I had no idea her teacher, the platform and the course would be so engaging, educational and fun! She loved it so much that she asked to continue with classes and is signed up for level 1! I was very impressed with her teacher who had the perfect approach and communication style for children! She now talks about pawns, rooks and queens regularly throughout the day :) My husband and I were also engrossed with the fascinating history of chess thrown into the class, so much so that I think I will sign up for adult classes. I only wish I could have taken these classes as a kid. Just brilliant!

By chance I heard a radio interview with Girl Boss Chess founder Ingrid Gayle who surprisingly was from my home town. I knew that it was a sign that I should pursue my desire to learn chess – to be able to play with my grandkids and my daughter and to reinforce that I could learn something completely new. I am so glad that I enrolled in the Adult Beginner Class. The instructor was great, my classmates too. Everyone was patient, supportive and enthusiastic. It was such a positive learning experience!

As a woman in her 60's, I always wanted to learn chess but didn't have or make the time. I was a bit intimidated by the game but the Girl Boss Chess beginner session was a fun way to learn. Our instructor, Rose, and my classmates made this a very positive experience! After 10 classes I'm playing online games with my classmates as well as friends and family. I believe in the cognitive benefits of chess for memory, problem solving, strategic planning and am enjoying the challenge each game presents! Ingrid is an amazing teacher who was able to tailor her teaching to suit all of the students' various learning styles and experience levels in our class. Ingrid's coaching style captures her attention. She teaches the story behind each piece which pulled my daughter in from the start. I love that she's learning to think strategically at a young age. I think it's a really important life skill. As an added bonus, I've been sitting nearby during her virtual lessons and learning as she does. It feels good to build our knowledge together.
