One of the cheapest grocery store in town. Food Basics is owned by Metro, so they carry their "Selection" and "Irresistibles" in-house brands. They price match many other local grocery store. Ample parking with many other businesses in the local plaza including Lowe's, LCBO and Tim Hortons.

I shopped here last Saturday and it was chaos at the checkouts. No order to anything, people had no idea how to line up and line jumping was rampant. There were 5-7 different lines forming for 3 cashiers. It's a wonder more fights don't break out. I will stick with No Frills in Wallaceburg. They have a brilliant simple plan that treats all customers fairly. I won't be back to shop at Food Basics until management can figure it out...

I urge all shoppers to avoid this store as it is currently being managed by a pathetic excuses for a man. His name is Guy Vachon and he is systematically destroying every chance for this store to succeed in an increasingly competitive market. Please walk across the street to Walmart if you're shopping by location. Otherwise, shop at any of the other fine grocery stores in this town. Heck, if you like Food Basics, shop the second street site. The manager there, Pat Renick, once was an assistant manager under fat-head Guy. He transferred stores just to be done with him!

Pretty good grocery store for your basic needs I feel, the downfall is they don’t price match and there reason is “there already cheap as is” which is false I have notice there has been some sales that Walmart was way cheaper by even $5. But not going to argue there. I love the fact you can go there like 9 at night and very quiet and no wait very friendly staff and they always have what you need.

Food basics is part of a very large grocers' franchise. Food basics has a large parking lot and plenty of carts for customers to use to collect groceries. They have a good number of cash out machines and recently added a small self-serve area. Staff is very friendly and ready to assist with customers requests. On the down-side, Food Basics floor plan could be better especially around the cash areas especially after putting in the self-serve. 1. The place isn't the cleanest environment, but stocks a very impressive collection of groceries. In fact, Food Basics carries some food items that I can't find in one of the many food stores around Chatham. 2. Although the staff is very functional, there has to be a shortage because I always have to hunt for someone to help me and there seems to not be enough staff on the tills. ....

Kinda cramped. Pharmacy is fantastic. Cashiers often step out, staring off into space while you try to fathom what the hold up is. Forget self-checkout, it's a game of twenty questions, and you'll probably be there overnight.

This is a nicely run Food Basics, I've been to some really crappy ones in other places. {Looking at you FB Brampton!} But this one is good, it is clean, always stocked and the produce is fresh with a nice selection. The meat dept. is a bit small but who can afford beef these days anyway?

I went to Food Basics today looking for a few items. I found lettuce and hamburger buns and small containers but not the cleaning supplies I was looking for. At this point they don't carry Murphys oil soap or vileda spin mops. I was tentatively looking for a swifter floor duster as well but didn't see any there. I would advise you to go to another store for these items but I know the food selection is great at Food Basics.

Place desperately needs to be remodeled. Dairy doesn't last long, such as milk and cheese. Veggies don't look as fresh as they should half of the time. Bread becomes moldy within a few days after buying it. Staff is nice but if the place just gets remodeled to look cleaner, I think the place will be fine. Remodel!

While they do have good sales. I have given up on buying produce there as it is sub standard. Recently bought 4 apples at what I thought was a great sale price, and threw out 3 out of the 4 as they were brown inside. They looked ok on the outside. This happened with pears also and a watermelon that was light pink inside. I'll stick with price matching at other stores to guarantee quality from now on.
