Mixed feelings about this school, my daughter attended for the last 4 yrs but this will be her final year. Standard and quality of education has really gone down and is unsatisfactory to me, its not worth the money, no difference to public school. Teachers seem not to care, kids are rude and have no respect for teachers or parents, no follow-up on school work or homework assignments. To be honest I should have moved her out after Grade 1. I would urge you to go and see the kids, teacher in classroom, see the education being provided and then make your decision. Maybe its the change in administration and/or the lack of interest by the teachers, but 4 yrs is enough and moving my daughter to another school. Thank you.

My daughter is absolutely thriving in Progressive's JK program. Every day she comes home with a new fact or song she learned, excited to share. I've been very impressed with the whole phonics program. Three months into the year and she's so excited to be sounding out words by herself. Ishani has been great supporting the whole family and providing lots of feedback.

This school has made an incredible difference to my daughter's personality and development. She was in another daycare close to this one but it was basically a warehouse for children and at 4 years old she was constantly acting out and shy. We decided to pay a little more and move her to this school and that is when the magic happened. She completely transformed and started to enjoy and look forward to going to school. They taught her manners, confidence, routine and within 6 months she was actually reading sometimes short sentences. The Jolly Phonics program they have is a fun way to learn reading and writing. The teachers are organized and love to teach. They also teach about the weather, nature, calendars, music, art, French and lots of play time starting at 3 years old. My daughter now has confidence to ask questions and raise her hands, loves to read story books and can tell you the life cycle of butterflies, frogs and name all the days, months and seasons of the year. She can actually point to a leaf and tell me what tree type it came from. The last thing I want to clarify is that this school has nothing to do with Scientology or any other idea and I have no idea how that rumour started. It is just a good Canadian school with relaxing atmosphere and updated learning techniques.

Progressive Academy is an amazing school! The reasons why we decided to put our daughter in Progressive Academy : -The small class sizes makes it an ideal environment for learning -There curriculum is diverse, by not just focusing on hard skills (math, science, technology), which are teachable, but also soft skills (communication, teamwork, problem solving) -The use of Jolly Phonics starting at JR Kindergarten to build the foundation to early reading and literacy skills is brilliant. -Music and language are part of the curriculum (need to promote the Arts and Fine Arts) -Uniform is mandatory which creates socioeconomic uniformity by removing the pressures of wearing branded/in-style clothing, promoting a sense of belonging; builds confidence and a sense of school pride -School environment is very welcoming by promoting diversity, celebrating international days and cultures -They offer interactive workshops for parents such as "Negotiate with Children; Triple P Parenting Session" -They now offer JR K-Grade 12, we don't have to worry about switching schools -To top it off the amazing administrative staff and teachings who ensure we are involved and informed Thank you Progressive Academy!

We are very happy that we have chosen this school for our daughter. She has been in Junior Kindergarten since September 2019 and started the school when she was only 3 years old. We have seen a lot of improvements in her. Especially this year (2020) she has been in Ms. Ishani’s JK class (Sunflower room). She has started reading some words by herself after attend to the class only 1 month with Ms.Ishani. It is very impressive. Our daughter is very happy and always wants to come to school everyday. This school is amazing and well organized. The teachers and staff are awesome! We look forward to kindergarten next year and many more years with Progressive Academy.

Progressive Academy is absolutely amazing and filled with awesome teachers. My son is attending Pre Kindergarten in the Sunflower class and he’s only 3 years old. He absolutely loves this school and all the staff. The staff is so attentive to the children's need for higher education. It is by far the best education a child can receive. The cost of tuition is reasonable and well worth the price for the quality of education provided. I am so glad we found this school for my son and knowing that he is safe is the best feeling. Ishani is such a great teacher and I love seeing my son grow so much in so little time! I can’t wait for my second son to start attending this school... I highly recommend Progressive Academy!

The school is only good as far as pre-school and kindergarten is concerned. Grade 1 and beyond - there is a reason why their class sizes are very small. Lots of students are leaving due to substandard education. This school claims to provide a higher level of education than what most public schools in Edmonton offer, thereby trying to justify the high cost of tuition they charge. It doesn't take much from a discerning parent to check other schools, to see anyone can get more quality education and better facilities in the public system, WITHOUT having to spend such high amount for tuition this school charges. I pulled out my daughter after finding out her Grade 1 teacher was giving school work that is below the kindergarten level in the same school. And when I asked for all the school work she has done right up to the point of pulling her out, I found out that they have not been covering much of the science and social studies expected to be covered at Grade 1 based on Standard Alberta Curriculum. I hope, most parents who consider sending their kids here - will at least PERSONALLY visit other schools, not just talk to other parents who check out other schools, to see for themselves what I mean. Seriously, it is your kids' future. Do some research and find out what is really out there. Don't blindly assume you are getting quality education just because you are paying for it. This is one case where you don't necessarily get what you pay for.

Amazing school and teachers. My child was losing attention at daycare and getting bored. This school taught my 4 year old kid to sound all letters within 3 months. She also was excited to go to school everyday. The school is organized, clean, with great supportive teachers and staff. They are like family.

This is our daughter's second year at The Progressive Academy. Her Sunflower homeroom teacher, Mrs Ishani made the transition seamless and she loves going to school. Their attention to detail is immaculate and have recognized letters that she needs to work on. They are very supportive and working towards making our child's development journey successful. She started to speak fluently , write letters and also spell her name. It was exciting to see that. Highly recommended ????

We are incredibly happy with Progressive Academy and the programming being offered to our daughter in Junior Kindergarten. The class sizes are small which has given our daughter the one on one attention that she required to break out of her shell socially, and the confidence to excel academically. The school has amazing, loving teachers, whom my daughter absolutely adores, and we consider ourselves very lucky to have gotten to spend our first year in Ishani’s JK class. There have been so many fun and diverse celebrations throughout the year that we are always invited to attend, and this has given us the opportunity to get to know the other parents, students and staff. We look forward to Senior Kindergarten next year and many more years with Progressive Academy ahead!

This school is amazing! My children have attended Junior and Senior Kindergarten here and it is well worth the money. The program is unmatched! Students are introduced to academics in a fun way. Both programs are Full-day programs. This gives students so much time to learn, play, explore and grow. By the end of Jr K, students are reading short words, and have a strong introduction to math basics. Also, they learn so much in other subjects like science, social studies, music, and French. KG is also a fantastic program with a great focus on Math and Language Arts. With weekly spelling tests and monthly math books, students complete KG with the ability to spell 5 and 6 letter words as well as being about to read very well. Not once did I have one of my children say they didn't want to go to school. The teachers are amazing! They are kind, caring, talented, teachers that meet each child at their own level. The school environment is one of community and respect. Students are diverse in culture, religion, academic ability and interests but the school community is strong and students feel like they belong. I can not say enough about this school. Invest in your child's future at PA, you won't regret it!

Absolutely amazing school, added amazing teachers and support staff. Our daughter has attended this school for 5 years now and we plan on keeping her here until she graduates. I have had two older children attend numerous public and Catholic schools before they graduated. Having this personal experience allows me to appreciate the greatness this school has to offer. We will never choose public schools again. Visit the school yourself, speak to the parents and children themselves before reading and believing the non sense that can be written by anyone. This is your child’s future, make the right decision with the correct information.

Great administrative team to work with. We signed up for a summer program, it wasn't what we were looking for. When inquired about the misunderstanding of the program they heard our concerns and we were able to quickly find a solution. Appreciate the communication!

My son is in preschool and they have two teachers and an assistant on most days for a class of 14 kids. Every student gets lots of attention and personalized training in reading and writing. They have other teachers come and teach art, music. It is not "one size fits all" but rather focus on each student individual needs and abilities. I would love to see more programs in physical education, more sports incorporated in daily schedule. This is the only reason for four instead of five stars.

Really happy to choose this school for my little one!! I had my doubts earlier but I guess the improvement that I have seen in my kid is impressive!! Every child is different and unlike my elder son my little one like to play and learn... and I guess so far the program at progressive has just suited his needs!! I am so Looking forward for next year !!

I wasn't satisfied by teaching quality and environment. It seems that the school belongs to rich non-Canadian stockholders with the certain preference (teachers, celebrations, trips, students etc.) over Canadian... I didn't expect so bad quality for one grand monthly, I moved my daughter after one year. Don't recommend at all.

My children have really enjoyed their first year in Progressive Academy's JK and SK programs. They look forward to each day, and have blossomed in their social and academic abilities. Their teachers are loving, focused, and attentive to their well being. I receive regular updates on their progress, and know that there are numerous activities to keep them engaged throughout the day. I appreciate the small class sizes, that there are two teachers in each room, and that the children are able to go to different classes with different teachers for different subjects. I also appreciate that the children interact with other students of similar or greater age in order to practice their reading and language skills. Next year, my children will be using the school's private school bus, which provides door to door service, in order to go and come from school. Overall, my children and I have had a positive and fulfilling experience at Progressive Academy, and we hope to continue our enrolment at the school for many years to come.

this school is a good choice for children's future: - knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, kind, caring teachers; - less teacher to students ratio so that teachers would have more time spending on each student; - teaching French, English, Chinese, Arts, Music, Math, Social study, Science, ......., in house Music class, clubs, ....; - students start learning and can read at younger age than public school students; - customized programs for Jr. K students: play and learn, show & share; - Jr. K program has daily facebook updates !!; - students gained valuable experience and skills besides academic knowledge, such as social, interpersonal, communication, problem solving skills through field trips, group projects (i.e. junior Lego project) which will benefit students for their futures; - students learn how to corporate as a team to reach their goals from group projects, which is so real and exactly what happens in the office every day, and the teachers are available to guide and help students on the challenges in the process and get to the target successfully at the end; - holiday events give students the opportunity to build up their confidence by performing on the stage; - report card at very detailed level !; - ski trip at a reasonable group price; 3 classes this year, that would be great if school could arrange more classes each winter, for example 5 or 6 ski classes :) :) it's a good choice and enjoyable experience to put our child in this school for both the kid and parents.
