Our experience at LMS scenic was life altering. We had a few experiences elsewhere before finding LMS, and the very first week, I felt like I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. I knew right away we had made the right choice for our family. Like all humans, kids have good days and bad days, and in that first week my little had a hard day, struggling with being away from family. His teacher let me know, “It was a rough day,” paused for a moment and then asked, “Did you know he’s really great at math?” They didn’t view my child on a bad day as a problem, they viewed him as a bright, creative and sweet boy, having a hard time away from home. They then went above and beyond to learn his comforts and strengths, to shift his struggles into growth. We saw such beautiful development within the first few weeks, we immediately requested a spot for our other child when old enough.
My sister in law always said that her daycare felt like family, and that was what I wanted for my children. I wanted an environment that felt inviting, with teachers who loved my children like I would, and this is exactly what we found at LMS. The staff work together with a fluidity that rivals water. Each teacher possesses their own unique skills and has this beautiful ability to support each other and be present for their students’ needs as they arise. You can tell a lot about a place by staff turnover, and if you read the staff certifications that line their walls you can tell that this is a group of humans who work well together and love what they do because they have all been there together for many years. You can also tell that they are invested in their field by the fact that they’ve continued to learn and expand their knowledge of best practices in both Montessori and Early Childhood Education.
They allowed my little the emotional space to be himself, show his strengths and then utilized those strengths as a starting point to develop areas that needed growth, gently guiding him while respecting his autonomy and allowing him choice within his learning.
I hate to shift to the topic of money when speaking of LMS but as working parents it is something families have to consider. Their rates, for full day including snacks and lunch were significantly less than other care facilities offering the same hours and meals. ($300-$700 is some cases). They reflect what everything else already did, that they are not in this for money, but for the love of children and education.
Highly recommend a thousand times over!
