You will see the information of real people who are using the services of Edison School (Kindergarten) in the area of Alberta (Canada).
At the moment the business gets a rating of 3.7 stars out of 5 and this rating is based on 27 reviews.
As you can see it reaches an reviews average is quite high, and it is based on a high number of reviews, so we may think that the rating is quite accurate. If people have bothered to give their score when they are happy, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to give reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Kindergarten is included in the category of School.
school bad private school bad never come here
Going to this school has taught me many good habits about studying and how to study. It's amazing here, from the curriculum to the non-academical activities. The small class sizes have really helped me comprehend what I'm being taught. We get to have teacher-student one on ones if your struggling or don't understand something. Over all this school is great beyond words, I hope to stay in it until I graduate.
The teachers are so nice and kind. I rlly love this school. Also because of its class size, theres like 12 or 11 students per class. I rlly love it!
Not too bad. I would do 10 out of 10 but I can't. School is prrrreetty good. Kinda small but not too small. Yeah that's it.
if you go to this school they will feed u cheese at the entrance
meh

I love this school. i go here dialy. my ela sckills havbe improbvend dfrastically
Excellent in all areas.
I am a fellow student for 3 years and am very surprised how good this school is it is neat and very well organized I would not recommend something as good as this school. The one issue is the covid-19 policy's I wish they would close the school or do online until things settle down but that up to the government good job Edison.
EDIT FOR RESPONSE: 1.We did several weeks/months of homeschooling and I saw how many timed math tests they did(though the owner said they don't). I saw the completed tests when my child brought it home every week. 2. The school is deeply upset about the lunch issues, but this instance kept occurring without any changes made. My children came home upset and hungry and said though they told the teacher during lunch, the teacher did not tell the lunch lady. We sent our kids here for a few years and regret it. Yes this school is highly focused on academics, but to a fault. There are good support staff and teachers at Edison, however, not even they can make up for poor management. I am certain the administration will respond to this message stating that everything I wrote in here is false, as has been done with all other negative posts, but this the experience we have had. Cons: - Quick to blame parents rather than admit responsibility for any wrongdoing. Extremely rigid and unfriendly dealings with administration when concerns were raised. Raise too many questions/concerns and you will be asked to leave without a second thought or discussion. - We have had some friendly teachers (some of which were let go), however some were extremely rigid and unfriendly. When kids are in lower grades they are sensitive at that age. So when teachers constantly make them feel bad for getting a question wrong, it drives their confidence levels down, as was the case with us. - Some grades were forced to do math facts on a daily basis. Although I saw a response from the school made by another poster that this is false and incorrect, our children came home stating that the teachers were informed by administration that kids are required to do math facts daily. This became too much for them and they started disliking going to school having to do so much work everyday to the point of almost making them into machines. - Facility grounds, such as the playgrounds are far below par for any school, especially private. We were told during our initial tour many years ago, that the school was planning on upgrading the playground, but this has yet to happen. Though the school mentioned they do regular maintenance, I have yet to see this on any part of the school. Further, the actual classrooms are very small compared to other schools (private and public) that we have seen. - The sole focus of this school is academics - students are pushed too hard, with lots of homework daily. If your child can't maintain an excellent academic standard, they will be asked to leave. When our child had only started grade 1 (first week) we already had the teacher emailing us saying he is not performing as well as he should. They didn't give us a fair chance to catch up (and he eventually did). -The kids will either burn out or be asked to leave. Though the school will likely respond that they never ask students/families to leave, we have encountered several families where this was in fact the case - Lack of athletics/other options - For elementary this may not be a big issue, but for upper grades the only option is badminton. The children don't get to participate in any other competitive programs that are offered in other schools. - Lunch program is very poorly managed. There were several instances where our kids went the entire day not eating because they were missed from getting lunch (and too shy to say anything at that time). The administration blamed us for this mistake rather than apologize for letting a child go hungry. - Uniforms are very uncomfortable for students and unreasonably strict. Girl's tights and socks need to be constantly replaced. My son's shoes had a tiny bit of white and were asked to change. Pros: - Some teachers and support staff really went out of their way to help and support our kids - Small class sizes helped our kids developed connections and friendships - the bussing (for the most part) was well managed and useful - They use the Singapore math program which will help with university prep
There are many good private schools around the area and we regret our choice to send the kids to this establishment. The fees are constantly going up, but the school prioritizes funding major projects (ex. solar panels) that ultimately benefit their bottom line. However, they neglect much needed maintenance on the school playground that was supposed to be done years ago (kids come home with splinters all the time), no water fountain or water bottle fill system (resulting in kids dragging heavy water bottles everyday), AC units broken in +30 degree weather (they brought in fans thinking this would fix the problem) and etc. Further to these complaints, the kids are turned into machines, by doing daily timed math tests (as early as grade 1) to achieve an average standard of 85% (which was confirmed by a teacher). If you do not achieve this average, you are asked to leave - hence why Edison is always graded higher than other schools because they kick out families who do not bringing up their average. Finally, the teachers - we have had some really nice, wonderful teachers and there are some that rule with an iron fist, in elementary. My kid's confidence plummeted having some of their more strict teachers. Kids are still sensitive at this age. This level of "strictness" is great for upper grades like 11 or 12, but certainly not in elementary, where they are made to feel bad if they get an answer wrong and forced to stay in at lunch or recess to redo work day after day.
My daughter transferred to Edison, and I have been extremely happy we made this decision. At Edison the staff and owners will do Everything in their power to make sure your child succeeds. I have had other kids go to Strathcona Tweedsmuir, and other decent schools in Alberta, but it just can't compare to the attention each and every student will receive at Edison, because of the small class sizes, and talented hardworking teachers. I am so happy we made the switch and my only regret is that I didn't enroll all of my kids from kindergarten on. I would highly recommend Edison to any parents looking for a school that will not only support your child's academic learning, but that is also a safe, caring, community service oriented environment. Yes there is a cost, but it is money well-spent, if you can make it work, it is one of the best investments you will make for your kids.
I have talked to the students at this establishment, they have told me about the poor condition the students have to learn in, the first being during the winter months there is no ac, and a very dirty environment. The majority of the students actually do not enjoy or want to be at this school, but have told me that their parents have made or forced to go to this school. 75% of the students I have talked to have told me that they are put under too much pressure with COVID-19 being a stress reliever for student because it has made the school shut down. This school is very mostly based upon math and not much on other subjects like social studies, science and ELA. These other subjects have been neglected by this school and are very similar and if not the same as the regular Alberta curriculum but with more repetition and more work than necessary. Along with all these down sides they charge the price of an arm and a leg. I very much do not recommend this school for people looking for a school transfer or who has children at this facility.
Ill allow it
Collectively, my family has been at Edison School for 20 years. Both of our sons attended Edison School and enjoyed their time there immensely. The badminton program at the school is a highlight and many of the students are very successful at the sport. The atmosphere at the school encourages children to be proud of their academic and sports achievements while surrounded by peers of like mind and aspiration without the distraction of many outside factors such as drugs, alcohol, and bullying. The school motto is "No greatness without goodness", and we have experienced this time and time again with many of the young people who have attended Edison School.
My children have been attending Edison for five years. They have received an excellent education and have had their confidence restored. Edison has a regular and achievable set of expectations both academically and behaviourally. The expectations are simple and straightforward making them easy to achieve. This has allowed my children to flourish at Edison School. They are safe, happy and learning above grade level. This has been the best investment out family could have made.
Amazing School, I am currently a student here and the education is spectacular. Everything you learn is fun and the teachers are amazing, they really help you unlike my old school where my teachers would only tell me the answer to my question. Above all cul school.
ill allow it but it's meh at the same time definitely used to be better
