Incredible school!

Sleeve Wenda (SleeveWenda2017)

My daughter was turned down despite having an average IQ. We were told that she needed more support than they could provide. So very confused. I thought this school was supposed to accept students with learning disabilities and help teach them through their academic struggles. One week before my daughter's interview we were told that 7 spots were available for grade 7 and that three people had already applied. But once we got to the interview they said that they were so tight that they couldn't promise anything. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

My daughter went here from grade 7 thru 12. She has a significant reading disability and this school helped her way more than public school. She graduated with 90% plus in all of her classes. She didn't even have a grade 4 reading level when she was enrolled, the teachers were amazing.

Calgary Academy has been a blessing for our son and our family. They provide unique tools in their teaching for every students learning differences and accomodate most students that come to them for assistance. My son is managing a B+ average now within his grade level curriculum! This tremendously improves his self confidence and his ability to continue moving forward in his schooling! Thank you Calgary Academy!

Do NOT send your child to Calgary Academy.... if you value remediation for your child and a future that promises College or University then you want to AVOID Calgary Academy at ALL COSTS. The administration is absolutely dreadful and what goes on behind closed doors is very alarming to anyone who values their children and a quality education. Visit Rundle, RiverValley or Foothils Academy. Calgary Academy places your child LAST in wellbeing and especially in academics. Their advertising is a fascade. I invite you to see through the fascade, so you can powerfully advocate for your child's best future.

not sure what everyone's babbling about here. this is a perfectly good school, for me at least. news flash, some kids are different from others. great experience, for me at least. teachers know what students need and do their best to provide that.

I walked by the school and some kid called me attractive. I knew they were lying. Ive been crying for 2 hours. This is a cry for help.

"THAT'S THE C.A WAY!"

hi hi

I love Calgary Academy I actually enjoy coming to school now, the kids are so nice and it is such an amazing caring and supportive environment.

I am a high school student at Calgary Academy and I find C.A perfectly suitable, namely the teachers are willing to put in the time for students. The high school program stresses self advocacy, and the staff and teachers develop a supportive environment for us students. In addition, the school counsellor Mr. Tolsma is very helpful with university and post secondary education applications. If need be he will sit down and help students with their entire application. All my teachers are professional, and show a genuine interest in helping each of their student achieve their best. 06/ 2019 As a university student in a decently difficult program, I can confidently say that the learning strategies and the general outlook developed during my tenure as a student at Calgary Academy have given me an advantage over the competition. Despite what people may say about the school, as an alumni, I felt prepared and supported on my journey into post secondary education. 11/2019

Very impressive teaching staff. They understand how the individual students take in information and then tailor the teaching based on how they learn. Great results.

it is a good school you learn at this school

I enrolled in Calgary Academy from Grade 6 to Grade 8 in 1999-2002. The learning support was great. I learned ways of organizing my self in school. I was well educated, despite me having a hard time learning and focusing at school. I was able to learn easily at Calgary Academy. I also enjoyed reading more. I was in grade 5, but I was transformed to a grade 6 class to be with people of my age and I could get along with. The Calgary Board of Education reassured me of moving up with grade of my age. But Calgary Academy decided to throw me down a grade, as I was held back in grade 1, because of my learning disability. I was thrown in classrooms with kids younger then me, who I had a rough time fitting in with. It made me depressed and I miserable for 3 years. The learning aspect was good for me, but the social atmosphere was poor and not very inclusive for me. I was made fun of and felt the maturity level of most students were poor and ignorant compared to other schools I went to. It effected my social development. CBE decised to not hold youths back a grade up to grade 9 anymore, because it I can traumatize people.

This academy puts the best interest of its students absolutely LAST! Multiple of my close relatives have had terrible experiences there. I certainly would recommend thinking twice before considering enrolling here.

I was a student from grades 4-9 and feel as if I was failed by the amount of assistance I had to my learning disabilitys. After moving to the public system I felt more supported and much happier than I was at CA.

Our son has a learning disability and we were led to believe through conversations with Calgary Academy, that they would be able to support his learning path. From grade 2 to the beginning of grade 9 we were told year after year that he was doing fine. Then we were told they couldn't support him for grade 10 because he was so far behind. When we asked why they didn't share this with us sooner. We were given the answer that they thought they could get him to catch up. That was 3 years ago and we're still dealing with our sons low self esteem, learning challenges and struggles to feel like the can be a part of society.
