Terrible overall IKEA experience. We paid $39.99 for a “design session” for someone to use the online tool that you can access from home yourself, in the end, they gave us two lists, one where we could go that day to pick up items, and another list for items that are on back order. They are tethered to the North York location, so even though there was stock in Etobicoke they couldn’t place the order for that location, we were told we could drive there right now and the items should still be available. The girl that helped us wasn’t an expert on the online tool, she asked for help several times deleting duplicate items. When she gave us our price list at the end, right away it looked like it was too much, I said it looked a bit high for what we are ordering (a wet bar), she said it was right. I asked for a detailed item list to see what she selected, she had duplicated the cabinets and countertop, there was double the required quantity of each item. She couldn’t figure out how to correct it and needed help. The service at the Etobicoke location was brutal to top the whole experience off. You still have to take a number and wait forever for someone to serve you in the kitchen section, just to print a new sheet out and go downstairs and pay. Save yourself the hassle if you’re going with IKEA, just go directly to the actual store and plan your kitchen for free and pickup what you can on the spot. Save your $40 and avoid this “design studio” at all costs.
