With the hopes of doing some renovations to our home, we contacted Envy Design. We were cautious about entering a contract with a designer as our past experience had been that you provide one budget, but come out with a design outside of the budgeted amount. We openly stated our fears to the designer and were assured that it was not how they run their business. We asked for the best design plans that our budget would allow. We talked about many options in our home including lighting, blinds, flooring, new cabinets and updating a railing. We knew that we could not complete everything within our budget, but wanted guidance on the best value and direction to begin. We even asked the designer if she would come back with a design that was outside of the budget we asked her to work within and we were assured that would not be the case…perhaps $5,000 more so that we could see what a little more money could buy, but that would be it. The idea of someone overseeing the entire project start to finish appealed to us and we were more than willing to pay for that luxury. We were presented with a beautiful design. We can say that she chose many items that were beautiful and that we liked. At the end of the presentation, we were shocked that the cost to complete everything on her list was more than double what our budget allowed and the design bill was equally as shocking. She had given us a rough estimate as to what we should anticipate for design costs to get to this stage and it too was a lot more than what we were led to believe it would be. When we approached Envy Design with our concerns, most communication was through email. Not once did the owner speak to us directly and at the end of the day, they justified all costs and the design. We don’t feel that we were listened to about what we wanted for our home or that the budget we provided was respected. When we discussed these concerns with the designer, she simply offered that her experience has been that if they stopped designing at the budget we provided, we would have been disappointed. It was also implied that even though the budget was double what we had requested, the project could be done in several phases and not all at once. Again, we did not feel that she heard what we wanted for our home. We ended the contract as we could not come to any understanding between their business and us as consumers. Unfortunately, the trust was broken. I cannot speak to how this company would have overseen our renovations or to the quality of their contractors as we did not get that far in the process. I can say that we were disappointed with the communication and their attitudes when we brought our concerns to them as at the end of the day in our minds we were out a large sum of money and were back to square one for our project.

The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and always go the extra mile when I ask decorating and design questions. When redoing our kitchen the project ran smoothly and the options presented were things that suited the space, budget and our family extremely well. We hired Envy because we wanted professionals to push the boundaries of the project and space and were so pleased with the results. I have recommended the Envy team to friends and family alike, and would not hesitate to hire them for our next project. The marketplace is a hidden gem in Winnipeg, full of fantastic home goods, inspired products and gifts.

The understanding of the work to be done was not written down in contract form. This resulted in a $1,000.00 bill, where the only thing I got out of it was a floor planl. What I received was exactly what I did not want. I wanted to do the project one step at a time. What I received was the whole project and more. Furniture examples, lamps and backsplash. We hadn't even decided on a color scheme. She knew that I was not redoing the kitchen, yet she spent my money on choosing a glass backsplash that we hadn't even discussed I didn't like anything that she chose and all I could think was that how many times would she choose things, then call me in to view them and if I didn't like them again send me another bill each time. Very poor communication on every level. I was told the cost of installation of blinds and when I made the appointment to have them installed there was an additional fee added. Made my blood boil. I can't wait to be rid of any contact with them. Get everything written down in contract form because you sure can't trust anything said otherwise It will cost you monetarily and in frustration.

Since Envy Paint and Design opened I have used their services for clients in regards to ordering paint, wallpaper selection and installation, blinds - ordering and installation, sewing services (toss cushions) and ordering furniture and acessories. I know I can always rely on Jim, Bahia and staff to provide me and my clients with excellent customer service and straight forward honest advice and suggestions. I went back into the store this past weekend, against my better judgement, as they are the closest BM dealer to our home. Our past customer service experiences in this store were terrible; however, it was 3 years ago. I have to say, nothing has changed. I've never felt so unwelcome; the girl that helped me with paint colors offered nothing in the way of suggestions, vaguely responded to my questions about color, and overall made it clear that she a)had no interest in helping, and b)felt like her time was being wasted. Honestly, I am shocked that people say they have good service here.

Ira is absolutely amazing! After spending some time at our new home, learning about the look we are going for, she made just a few suggestions and helped us pick the perfect colour! The paint was really nice to work with....very good quality. The family room looks beautiful and the suggestion she made to paint the bottom shelves did exactly what she said they would do...make it look bigger and very rich!
