My family purchased lovely sofa and side chairs. We didn’t stop there, after getting so much help from them we also bought a beautiful walnut table and some chairs to complete the finishing touches on our renovated house. 5/5 stars Design Manitoba is amazing!

Annette initially seemed friendly, but we soon realized she over-promised and under-delivered and will show her true colours! She promised our furniture would "be ready in 4-6 weeks time or sooner", but after over 7 weeks when I called to inquire about our order, she became angry with me and told me it was only 1 month since I ordered. When I advised her that I had the bill and advised her according to the date, it was almost 7 and 1/2 weeks, she said it wasn't the "promised 8-6 weeks" time. Her tone went from initially very friendly to rude and interrupting. She also made errors on our bill and over-charged us. She had initially placed the bill in an envelope and said in a very friendly way, not to think about it. When we later looked inside, we realized that we had been over-charged. When trying to contact the company about this, even the manager refused to speak about it with us and told us it was something we'd have to talk about with Annette. Many attempts were made to contact this company. We were promised our calls would be returned, but we had to call them back (with the exception of our call being "disconnected" and I had to call to ask why before receiving a call back). They told us that it's Palliser's fault because their factory is behind. However, we ordered Palliser chairs from another company after dealing with Design Manitoba and we have received those items 2 weeks ago (it took less than 4 weeks). We would never purchase items from Design Manitoba again. ALSO, we've had problems with our sectional we purchased! After less than 1 month of gentle use, our power recliner broke. When we contacted Mike (store manager) and sent him pictures, he arranged for our item to be picked up and repaired under warranty. HOWEVER, they decided that the sectional broke because of someone jumping on the sectional and want to charge us to repair the piece! Firstly, our children weren't allowed on the item. Secondly, even if they did jump on it (which they didn't), they are preschoolers and the sectional, which was made of PARTICLE BOARD (we have photos), shouldn't have broken! Also, everything we ordered took way longer to arrive! We were told that everything was delayed due to the manufacturer. Our pillows took 4 months!!! I wouldn't send anyone there!

We looked around the city for a couch that was attractive, comfortable, reasonably priced and had head support. We must have looked at 8 different stores and found our top two couches at Design Manitoba. The guys there were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The guys who delivered the couch two days later were very careful and friendly. A month later, I love our couch and am glad we were able to purchase from a small Manitoba business. Thanks!!

Orest was so knowledgeable about style and had great advice. We were just stopping in to get inspired as we aren't moving into our new home till the end of the month, but I know we'll be back. I think we'd been to just about every furniture store in the city before swinging by, and it only drove home how high a quality everything was compared to what's out in the market. Can't wait to put together our perfect dining room suite with Orest in April.

I want to keep this place a secret but I cannot. You can find some beautiful pieces here and at a great price. The staff member was great! The outlet was closed but he took us in and good thing he did we bought something. Have a few pieces now from here and look to add more! Unique and great quality. Don't be fooled and think you cannot afford stuff here, there is something from everyone

We visited the store to look at a specific set of dining chairs that we found online. We were able to purchase a complete set and it was by far my easiest furniture buying experience. We found exactly what we wanted, nothing more, and nothing less.

We were looking for a solid wood table that expanded but expected design manitoba to be out of our budget. We ended up going in and talking to them, and we were able to build our ideal table within our budget. Very impressed with the service and the flexibility in design options that were offered. A beautiful solid wood, modern, canadian made table with two leafs for under 2k!

Debbie went out of her way to find a sofa to fit our room and size requirements. We'll the sofa finally arrived and it looks great and makes our room look much brighter. The 2 men who delivered and removed an old sofa were courteous, careful, clean and very helpful. Over the years we've had many a delivery and I can honestly say that Design Manitoba has the best. Glad to support a local business and a Canadian manufacturer. Again thank you to Debbie and all the staff at Design Manitoba for their help and kindness, we will certainly be back.

I had some issues with the manufacturing time and quoted estimate from Design Manitoba from my order (it took 13 weeks to receive my order when the original estimate was 6-8 weeks). Unfortunately, I wasn't given any notice about this proactively and only got updates when I called to inquire about the status of my order. I did receive a loaner couch for free to make up for the delay at no cost, which was appreciated. I had to call a second time to find out the status of my order and at that point did receive very poor customer service at that point - I was told that "if I worked in retail I would understand" and that there was nothing they could do to resolve this. I had initially requested a refund on my order and was told that wasn't available. However, no accommodation was really made by the company during that call to assist with the delay. The staff person I spoke with was argumentative and rude, and the only reason this review will not receive a higher star rating. Potential customers should be cautious about the conduct of the sales staff post-purchase, based on my interactions with them. However, my case did end on a positive note - the owner of the store contacted me directly to apologize for the delay and made an offer to resolve the issue, which I accepted. The couch was finally delivered and I was happy with the final product. The delivery team was also excellent and friendly. Kudos to Design Manitoba for finally offering to resolve the issue I had with the massive delay on my order. Hopefully in the future it can be resolved sooner and more amicably, so that future customers will have better after-sale service.

We couldn't be happier with our sofa. Though it wasn't cheap- you get what you pay for. It will probably last 3 times as long as others we have purchased in the past. High quality leather, very comfortable, very sturdy. It was nice that we were able to customize it by way of leather/color selection. Dealing with the Orest and Cynthia was a pleasant experience. The delivery guys are great too. While we were a little surprised it took so long (6 months from initial purchase), I have to say- they did take care of us. They hand delivered and setup a loaner sofa at no charge. I suspect that 6 months isn't the norm. I do believe that as they mentioned a few times- Covid played a large role. The only one piece of constructive feedback I would offer to the ownership is that a process for proactive updates to clients could be put into place. It would have been nice not to keep wondering and having to call/email for updates. This could be an easy fix imo. Overall, because of the quality, the people, and the way they took care of us with the loaner- I will purchase from Design Manitoba again.

We have purchased many items from Design Manitoba and have had great experiences every time. Even when we just go in to browse, we get greeted by the staff and Orest always looks after us very well. He has even calls us when there is a good deal on an item he thinks we would like. A little disappointed when we purchased a light fixture at a different store to find the same thing at Design Manitoba for A LOT less expensive. Will continue to shop at and recommend Design Manitoba.

Me and My boy friend just bought a new house, we went to design manitoba to look for furnitures. We were totally ignored. the sales there were 'busy' helping the elder clients. no one said hi to us, no one helped us. not happy about the experience there at all..... the worst furniture store to shop ever...

I purchased couple sofas in late July 2020. Put a deposit and was told it will take 4 to 6 weeks for sofas to arrive. Total price was about $4,700 thus the expectation for quality was high. I did ask for discount from the quoted price but was told that they can not do anything about it. I did get free delivery which was appreciated. Couple of weeks later I came across exactly the same sofas at a store in Niverville that were about $1,300 less. I called the store to inquire if there is anything they can do, do a price match or provide an additional discount, any amount, and was told no. The sales person sounded angry when I was talking to him on the phone and asked me to get a written quote from the other store. The store in Niverville was not able to provide a written quote as that would possibly get them in trouble with the company that manufactures the sofas. After 7 weeks, I called the store to inquire when the sofas will arrive as I was told 4 to 6 weeks, the sales person said that he never said that, and that it takes 6 to 8 weeks. Sofas arrived in 9 weeks, finally. No apologies from the store or notices on late arrival. I was requesting to speak with the owner, but was told to email to generic email box as owner reads emails. Did that, but end up speaking with the same person as before, owner never contacted me. After sofas arrived, the delivery drivers, which were great to deal with, noted few imperfections, took pictures and advised to contact the store after a week or so if these issues do not disappear. They did not, so I contacted the store and also provided pictures. The store replied that sofas are perfect.(some back cushions did not have enough fill in them and already look terrible along with some other issues). Very said to see that all the store cared about is to get the sale and act like they care until you make a payment. Do not recommend to shop there especially that the same furniture can be purchased outside the city for much lower price.

Update: As you can see from Design Manitoba's response below they acknowledge that they won't follow up on delays in delivery schedules and that apparently I should automatically know about the Quebec manufacturing delays that will set back delivery dates. You miss the point of the review DM, you owe me as a customer an update on delivery delays. Better yet, when I order, you communicate this message "normally we deliver within 6 to 8 weeks but at this time we are expecting this to take upwards of 15 weeks for delivery." Like I said, I am happy with the product, waiting 15 weeks is not the issue here, communication is. I love my Canadel sideboard buffet. I placed an order on June 21st and was told it would be 6 to 8 weeks for my furniture. I followed up with them in August, and they told me the order was placed in July and that it should ship from the factory in September. They finally contacted me in October that the furniture could be delivered to me. On October 9th, 15 and a half weeks later I finally recieved my furniture. I know we are in a pandemic and I am a reasonable person. I would appreciate updates on the furniture if the delivery schedule is delayed. I brought this up with their staff over the phone when I paid. They apologized but this does not make up for the lack of customer service. I will take my business elsewhere next time. I can only assume they are doing fine in this difficult time to feel that they don't need to resolve their customer service issues.

In the early winter (January) we bought a $7,000 sectional and almost $4,000 worth of blinds and valances from Design Manitoba. Before we gave them any money, the customer service was top-notch: responsive, quick and committed to making us happy. However, once we paid them, things quickly went south: we waited weeks for the blinds to be installed, and I had to send several emails to chase them down to get them to come out and do it. One of the blinds from my son's bedroom was missing the mounting hardware - we were told it would be ordered from Hunter Douglas and shipped to our home address. ALMOST TWO MONTHS LATER the parts have not appeared. When I told our sales rep that we were still waiting, she said she'd order them again. I requested that try a different strategy, as simply ordering them isn't working as they are still not here. I sent her an email regarding the terrible service in late March (it's now May) and have still not seen a response, The upshot is, they are all chuckles and smiles until they have your money; once they've processed your payment, you are on your own..

I have never once felt inclined to submit a negative review until shopping here, and I am only writing this in the hopes I can prevent others from having a similar negative experience. My boyfriend and I are both young professionals and went to look at couches for our new condo. We ended up purchasing a couch, and I was happy with the service through out that process. We went the extra mile and purchased the stain protector warranty for an extra fee, this states that within the first five years of ownership, if there is a stain, they will clean it for free, and if it cannot be cleaned then we will get a replacement couch no charge to us. We ended up renting a truck and went to pick up our couch. We brought it to our condo and carried it up the five flights of stairs. To our dismay, when we opened it the light grey couch had a black burn/glue mark on the back. I contacted Mike (service manager) regarding this and he said first step was to send the cleaner out, which I agreed was fair. The cleaner came out and deemed it was not cleanable as it was a burn from the glue. I contacted Mike again and he stated that my option then was to PAY a delivery fee to get a new couch delivered. I argued that this stain was not my fault as it arrived to me this way, and to me it was a miss on their end that they sent the product out and I felt as though they should be delivering a new one free of charge. He was adamant that if I had originally paid to have it delivered and not picked it up myself THEN I would get a free delivery for the replacement. I think Mike’s customer service was extremely disappointing. Simply because I did not pay the delivery fee I am stuck with a damaged couch when I paid over a thousand dollars for a couch that is expected to be in good condition. In addition, he told me that if my couch is against a wall why does it matter... not only is where I put it none of his business, but the point is when I pay money for a product I should have the option to put it wherever I want, and it should be in good condition to do so. It is upsetting to me that Mike would not honor the stain protector warranty I purchased especially since the stain was not caused by me. It is important to note that in the end the issue was resolved and we had it delivered free of charge, but equally as important is that this was only after a ridiculous amount of effort and convincing on our part to get the kind of customer service and respect we deserved from Mike, not to mention there was no apology when he finally called back to say they would cover the delivery. The one great thing was the delivery man who dropped off the new couch, he was BEYOND NICE and apologetic and his amazing customer service really turned my experience around. However, due to the service I received from Mike i will not be recommending any one I know purchase from Design Manitoba, or be purchasing again. It’s unfortunate because every one else was very nice and helpful.

Choices have always been eclectic and fun at Design Manitoba. This is the second time we have purchased furniture here. First order of dining room suite was shipped to us Alberta. When chairs needed replacing, Design Manitoba shipped them out. On our return to Manitoba, we needed some living room furniture, so of course we shopped where we knew that service would be great. Awful customer service. Ordered a dining set on June 10 and was told 4-6 weeks for delivery. It was actually delivered on Sept. 26, which is bad enough but they never did contact me to justify any delays. I had to contact them regularly to learn that nothing had arrived. The only communication from them was to ask for credit card information months before the delivery.

Young buyers beware to be prejudged and get low class service. I am not an angry person just really upset about our service. I would never shop at Design Manitoba again, absolutely horrible service. Please think twice before shopping at this store just a warning. We are returning clients and really got the poooooooooooor treatment. We left the store upset over something real basic. We are buying a 5500 couch and we ask if they can give a sample of material to take home and they tell us out right NO and every reason why we cannot have one. After debating why we cannot get a sample they suggested coming at store close and picking up a sample and bring back in the morning. That would have been great if they offered that to us at first. The salesperson who we were dealing with seems to forget who pays them and how they get paid (though customs). I guess once the person knew that we were originally dealing with another sales person our service went straight down the tubes. Called back to speak about the matter a few days later and the same salesperson is telling me to email the owner and see what he will do about it. ABSOLUTLY HORRENDOUS SERVICE. If anyone want to spend that kind of money go with a store that actually care about their clients. not making this post out of anger just warning future buyers.

I don’t normally rate 5 stars on reviews but our experience with Design Manitoba was great that they deserve full marks. Building a new home, we shopped around for new furniture. Only at Design Manitoba did we feel welcomed and received great service with no haggling sales people. The deals was also very competitive if compared to other high end furniture stores, the furniture is also high grade materials. Our sales person Orest was also the manager and he was very professional and a true friendly Manitoban! The product we bought was in inventory with no waiting time. The 2 guys that delivered our furniture was also very friendly and took extra care with moving in our furniture. They even placed the felt sticker pads in the bottom of our furniture so it doesn’t scratch our new floors. From the beginning all the way to the end, our experience was top notch. I recommend all my family and friends to try out Design Manitoba next time they are buying furniture.

The sales manager and the delivery team both went out of their way to explain everything we needed to know about our purchase, and we received our couch within 24 hours of purchasing it.
