I could not recommend Wayne Sage and the fantastic crew at Harwood Design Builders more. They worked some miracles in our FULL scale renovation/remodel/addition of a 1969 Japanese Mid Century home. We turned it to a modern version of Mid Century with heavy nod to the bones and styling the initial designers meant for the home to be. This project was a big one with A LOT of space added and completely turned around that required a lot of restructuring and design. The quality and the responsiveness to our sometimes overly demanding/regularly changing ideas was professional and appreciated through every step. They were on time and on budget much to our delighted surprise (with our ever changing list of wants/needs). Who could ask for more. You need anything for your home, new or renovation, call them, consult with them, don't pass them by as I assure you, you will not regret it.

I've been the independently contracted photographer for Harwood Builders for fifteen years now. The Harwood team is made up of the best craftsman and creative designers, as is shown in the beautiful projects that they've produced over the years. But a lot of what makes Harwood so great is in the things you can't see - high quality construction and attention to the smallest of details. When I photograph a Harwood home I only have to level my tripod once, and then proceed with all of the photos - that means that the floors are completely level throughout the home; not something that's common among builders. Wayne is friendly and approachable as I've witnessed in the friendship he has with his clients once a project is finished. I'd highly recommend using Harwood for your remodel or new home build!

There is some advantage to writing a review 15 months after completion of a project. It allows some introspection on the experience and gives time to settle into the new space before evaluating it. We engaged Harwood Design Builders in the spring of 2017 to develop our basement. Laney Stewart, Harwood’s Interior Designer, took our initial concept and developed it into a very functional and attractive space. She was excellent to work with. Construction began in July 2017. We learned very quickly that Harwood is a very well run company with excellent staff. James Friesen, Project Manager, Lui Tavares, Site Manager who did most of the construction, and Devon Buchholts who made sure all supplies were in place and on time. All were delightful to work with and did an excellent job. The sub-trades were also excellent. A special thanks to Lui Tavares for doing such an outstanding job, and being part of our home for nearly three months. Wayne provided detailed, itemized billing every month so that we knew what was being purchased and how it matched to the original budget. His accounting made us feel very comfortable with the costs and progress. The movie title “Build It and They Will Come” is true. Since the lower level (basement) was completed we have had numerous visitors stay with us and had several family events. All have commented on how beautiful, comfortable and functional the space is. We would highly recommend Wayne Sage and Harwood Builders. They made our construction project a pleasure and delivered on beautiful new space.

From the first time we contacted them to the end of the project they were professional, punctual, hard working and kept us involved in all aspects of the renovation. Trevor provided us with weekly updates that gave us confidence in how the project was going and what was coming next. In 2010 Harwood renovated the entire main floor of our 1970s bungalow. Ten years later we wouldn’t think of having anyone else when we decided to do a complete demolition and renovation of our basement and covered patio. There is something to be said for a renovation/building company when all the same staff that worked on our first project are still there. Jeff was our site foreman 10 years ago, and along with Tony and Luis did an exceptional job transforming our upstairs. For this most recent project in 2019/2020 Luis was our site foreman, and despite the many challenges of working during a pandemic, Luis, Tony, Graham, Devon, and the rest of the guys did an amazing job remodeling our basement and patio, and it was a pleasure to have them in our home. As always, Wayne is a terrific person to work with, and Kevin the senior project manager was always available to us to answer questions as the project moved along. Harwood’s billing process is very transparent, and left us with very few questions. We have no hesitations recommending this talented team to anyone looking for top notch quality on any large or small project.

We worked with Harwood on a renovation throughout our older home. The project included large scale work such as wall removal and complete kitchen remodel to small items like adding electrical outlets. Harwood respected the character of our home beginning with design all the way to final clean. We appreciated being able to communicate with the team and looked forward to regular progress updates. We were informed throughout and if any issues arose were presented with various options at different price points and were never pressured into a costly alternative. Very happy we chose Harwood!

Harwood Design Builders completed a home addition and kitchen for us in 2017 and it was a wonderful experience! The finished product was well beyond our expectations and the communication and service were exemplary. Over the past two years, we've had basically no issues. For the few little things that have come up, the Harwood team has been extremely helpful and in my opinion goes above and beyond the standard warranty period to ensure satisfaction. There are many renovation horror stories out there, but this isn't one of them. My wife and I highly recommend Wayne and his Harwood team!

Through every phase of our project - from design, budgeting, through demo, build, and finishing - Wayne and his team demonstrated a superior and unparalleled level of professionalism, craftsmanship, and commitment. Our project was unique and complex, converting and updating a 1949 duplex into a modern single family home, while maintaining the mid century character and history of the space. Harwood’s team was simply outstanding, and understood what we were hoping to do from the beginning. Harwood reclaimed and restored existing trim, matched old and new materials seamlessly, and even designed and built custom radiator covers and replicated mid-century archways to ensure that our home felt restored and never just “updated”. Both Harwood’s team and their subcontractors were outstanding. Wayne and the team supported us through every step of the project, and through every issue that came up. Above all, they brought excellent and skilled project management, and our renovation was completed on schedule and with full clarity on budget and next steps all the way through. Harwood is simply the best, and we are so grateful to have had a chance to work with them!
