Sketchy pricing, bad service, bad work. I had a bathroom redone. After 2 months, I already had to have them come back to fix the "premium" toilet they installed. After 4 months, the heated floors only work on 2/3 of the tiles, there is cold air coming in from the vent and the pipes around the tub froze. I notified them in December and got a reply saying they will get back to me first thing after the holidays. Now Jan 29 and still no call back.

I would not recommend Renovco, here is why: _They said they would come and make the reparation on a monday, waited for them, then called them to ask why they did not show up, then the girl (Rita Kazzi) told me " actually the will come tomorrow". She did not excuse herself, she actually did not care. _I sent several emails to Alex Charbachi, for each email I sent, he 1) did not reply 2) replied to half of my questions 3) answered wrong. As for the job they did it quite well. I would conclude that they have a huge lack of communication.

Renovco has a very quick response time for any damages. They came in and fixed a leak in the 2nd floor bathroom that had spread all the way to the basement. They took care of everything. I chose to upgrade my floors and put in some crown moldings. Their contractors are well connected in the industry making easy to have multiple things done. Thanks Renovco!

Ruined My House!!! **Update** (see below) It is amazing how so many people are now putting up 5 star reviews of this company since I wrote this review, and the wording used in them is so similar to Renovco ads and website verbiage. It makes me wonder if they are real? We had these people in to renovate our bathroom 5 years ago. - Did not design the bathroom correctly, the measurement were taken incorrectly from the beginning. - Sent unlicensed workers in to conduct the work, we found this out later. - Used substandard materials, used 1/4" gyprock and it started to crack the first year - Installed accessories started to fall of the wall one year in. - Moisture started in our ceiling and has now compromised our roof. - We have complained and have had Alex, his roofer and Henry visit. they indicate that it is a roof problem but we have had three licence CAA roof inspectors in to verify that it was caused by the internal renovation. - We even had our insurance send over a licence roof inspector that provided a report indicating that the damage is due to the renovation. - We are gutting and having our bathroom fixed by a real contractor and a new roof put on our house by a real roofer. - I turn off CJAD and TSN when the Renovco ads come on, Renovco is unreliable and unprofessional. I hope this helps people walk away from Renoco and find a more reliable renovation company or contractor. I have told many people who are about to have renovations done about this incident and have shown them what type of workmanship this company brings with them. - I DO NOT recommend this company to anyone! If you Google "Consumer Choice Awards" you will see a report about how companies using "Consumer Choice Awards", actually pay for it. RENOVCO pays for this Consumer Choice Award. Quote "Businesses selected as winners of consumer choice awards may NOT be best in class, an investigation has found." and "But CBC News has learned that in order to advertise this fact, such as displaying the award's purple ribbon logo in their store windows and in promotional materials, winning businesses first have to pay more than $4,000 to the Consumers' Choice Institute" Just need to add, anyone affiliated with RENOVCO seem to be just as bad. Please remember that just because you hear the name on the radio so often, doesn't indicate that they are good to work with, they pay for that advertisement. Also, the person that is affiliated and is in those ads IS also paid for. I have had conversations with him as well, he is not interested in helping anyone except the people who pay him. I've been summoned to court as a witness, seems that the people that worked on my house for Renovco, weren't licensed. What more can I say here?!? Update January 25, 2018 - We are having our roof replaced now. We have had thee (3) different CAA contractors over for estimates. Without saying a thing to them about our renovations, all three contractors said exactly the same thing. " whoever made changes to the bathroom created the damage." " the exhaust fan has been installed incorrectly, causing moisture between the cathedral ceiling and roof." Also, we are going back to court to testify again, against the people that Renovco hired to renovate our house. I understand people are saying the initial work looks great, wait five years. And when it's not looking so good or other problems in your house arise due to the reno these people preformed, just try calling these guys back... GOOD LUCK! We didn't have to testify, the workers that did the work for Renovco plead guilty and were fined $ 10,000 plus court fees. But Renovco will not do anything to fix this, nor have they contacted me to do anything about this. So to that, I hope the more than 28,000 views of my reviews has stopped people from using this company. And I hope this helps more people think twice about using this company for renovations. Do your homework, if they have to tell you how good they are, there is a good chance they aren't. Don't you think JE? Airmiles... whatever!

We had few quotes received from different company and Renovco was the one who took time to understand our specific needs. We decided to give them the job. During the work, we had to discuss with them 2 or 3 times to understand what they were doing and make sure that we addressing the whole situation, just a normal interaction we should all be doing. Don't sign an estimate with them unless everything is written in it, even the type of paint finish. No good coordination.A 2 week job took 2 months. Can't seriously recommend to anyone. No negotiating price even though the original contract was altered. Final bill delivered after asking 3 times , with the same info as the estimate with no mention of the actual work carried out. Don't understand how an award for consumer for 2016 was given.

It's been difficult to get construction work done lately, let alone quality work. Renovco was suggested by another constructor that wasn't available to rebuild my basement after a sewer backup. Renovco was available, but said they didn't have time for a detailed estimate and would instead do a "turnkey" service. It was twice as expensive as I had the same job done 5+ years back, twice as long, and quick to charge. I accepted from lack of options, as I needed it done since it was a leased apartment. They took many botched decisions without consulting me. First, they enclosed the washroom plumbing within a huge and unnecessary structure. I managed to get them to improve it a bit with an alcove. Then they built a bulge in the wall of the den, saying they didn't have a choice because of the plumbing. I had to twist their arm to have an OK finish for the accesses to backwater valves and sump pump, teaching how to do what in my mind was supposed to be their specialty. Then I discovered they left a hole on the wall of the back bedroom and a botched handle on the sump pump access. They had promised to fix it earlier, but now they don't guarantee a proper fix and want to charge extra. The person in charge of the execution (Mehdi) stopped responding a month ago. This week it took 8 calls to their office to get a response (the same one). Hire at your own risk....

I have contacted Renovco to help me with a leak in my bathroom. I was communicating with Sandro, who promised to come and help us. He promised and then he didn't show up and later on he stopped returning our calls. We had to deal with our insurance company alone. I am very disappointed.

When our basement got flooded and we called Renovco to come and do the renovations. Our work initially started off on the wrong foot. However if you are lucky you will get to work with the 2 most professional people on this team, Yvon and Talal. They renovated our whole basement. We have added a bathroom , storage closet and a bedroom. Because we were renovating during peak season, they still managed to finish within the guidelines. These two guys go beyond the call of duty, and I only want to deal with them again in the future. If it were not for Yvon and Talal’s hard work and determination we would not have finished on time. Yvon is an excellent asset with extensive knowledge, along with their quality exert Talal. Thank you .

I am somewhat relieved that I am reading similar negative experiences with Renovco in these reviews, and am also baffled at any consumer choice award granted them. I requested a quotation for a very straightforward job on my small condominium balcony. A man named Alex came to visit to verify what had to be done. It took two days of me calling Renovco for a follow-up before Alex finally called back with a price. Given the small task I wished to have done, I was advised that they have a minimum charge policy of $350.00 plus tax. I agreed, and made plans to take a morning off of work the following week to have the work done. The very night before Renovco was to arrive, I get an email after 8 PM from a person I do not know named Henry, asking me if I have access to a water spout and an electrical outlet on my balcony. I answered yes to the outlet, but no to the water. I am in an apartment building after all, as they were well aware. Suddenly concerned and insecure that this was a deal-breaker, I responded asking what their plan b was? Henry responded "not to worry about it". The next morning came around, and I just had to speak with somebody. I asked by email for Henry’s phone number to be able to speak with him to ask him, again, what the plan was, and whether he could do the job with buckets of water if need be. He said no, buckets would be impossible. I then asked if he had access to a truck, the ones window-cleaners use with vehicle-borne tanks. He said he did, but he was not sure if a truck was available that particular day. He would call me back to let me know. I waited and waited for a call, none came. I called Alex and Henry, I texted Alex, and texted Henry, and no one was getting back to me. Finally, Alex called me back and told me it had been decided to cancel my appointment – without advising me – because in fact they do not have such trucks necessary to do the job. That they could not do the work is one thing – but to not quote the job properly in the first place, to not ask the relevant deal-breaking questions beforehand, and to not have the decency to get back to me as I waited at home for nothing is inexcusable, and unprofessional. I never even got an apology. They treated me as though this job was beneath them and unimportant. Well, it was meaningful to me ... This was my first – and last – dealing with Renovco. As disappointing as this all was, I now I see that perhaps I dodged a bullet. A key reminder for me not to seek them out when I redo my entire condominium next year.

Renovco kept (stole) my $5000 deposit! Before you give these people a deposit, first ask them if they have returned Hong's $5000 deposit yet! I had some issues with a previous, "gem", of a contractor, so by the time Renovco was called, I was ready with a complete list of ALL the jobs that I wanted done to complete my renovations. To avoid surprises, and that game so many contractors like to play, "Name that extra", as he walked through the door for the quote, I provided Alex from Renovco with his very own, take-home copy, of my completed list of all of the jobs to be done. We went down the list, looked at all the jobs, an agreeable quote was given, so we signed a contract, and I gave a deposit. Part of the agreement was that we would be working from a list, at least as detailed as the one I provided. A few days later Alex returned with an unacceptably incomplete list of the jobs to complete the contract. They wasted a month of my time as I tried everything imaginable to get these people to provide a copy of the list of jobs they would be working from to complete the renovation. The game was, every few days they would copy and paste a few more jobs from my list to their list, until they had finally recreated my list as their working list. It was ridiculous. I should have just said at the beginning of April, "Well, I guess we're working from my list if you can't provide me with a copy of your list". Renovco apparently doesn't like working from a detailed list and were doing everything to avoid having to work from one. Contract was signed on March 17 2017, work was supposed to have begun on April 18 2017. I was still trying to get Renovco to provide me with a copy of their list on April 14, so I cancelled them from beginning the job until they provided me with a copy of their list. They had finally completed their list by the end of April. They then rescheduled the job to begin three and a half months later in mid-August. By July, I had experienced such a lack of professionalism, and had read so many bad reviews about Renovco that I cancelled them doing the work. I have requested the return of my deposit ten times in the past nine months, since August 2017. It appears that they intend to keep, or steal, my $5000 deposit. If and when Renovco returns my deposit, or I am in the process of collecting the money they stole from me through a court proceeding, I will edit this review to reflect any developments with the situation. Best advice I can provide about Renovco: Avoid these people unless you have time and money to burn. With any contractor, and especially Renovco, insist on a complete list of all of the jobs to be done, and all imaginable aspects of each job (finish, materials, specs, everything..), to avoid surprises, unless your contractor arrives with wings and a halo.

I can't understand or believe these claims about winning consumer choice awards year after year ( as the radio ads claim). My project started April 18 to repair a simple foundation crack , my garage wall was opened. It is now June 16 , my garage is in complete disarray and the problem still is not fixed. I am promised call back at certain days and I get no call back. This is severely delaying other renov projects I had planned for this summer. I am completely frustrated.

I was not going to leave a review but I think it's only fair to other consumers to have feedback, given all the accolades on the radio. In my experience, the only person that seems efficient at this company is the person who answers the phone. She is so friendly and polite. Unfortunately, they rescheduled my appointment 2 times. I informed them I would be on my lunch break and I actually changed my lunch time to accommodate the person who was suppose to arrive at 1:00 to provide a quote. I waited until 1:20. No one called or showed up and I went back to work. The excuse was "traffic". Traffic is not an excuse. Everybody lives with traffic and we all get to work and to our doctor appointments on time. If there's going to be a delay, call people and let them know. Imagine a world where teachers or bank employees or busses and metros start showing up half an hour late! Home renovations are stressful enough without unreliable scheduling.

Renovco did a complete redesign/renovation of our kitchen. These guys are full service -- from creating the design to following through in making it exactly as it was planned. They employ a trustworthy, courteous and hardworking group of craftsman. While there were a couple of minor delays, the end result was impressive and worth waiting for. The quality of the work performed along with the building material used gave us a new kitchen that we will both be proud of for years to come. I would never hire this company again after having months of issues last fall. I planned a trip away and Renovco told me they would redo my kitchen and bathroom in about two weeks with only finishing to do once back home. I came home to three almost gutted rooms, and almost no workmen scheduled to do the work they promised. My project manager was fired halfway through the project for incompetence, and in the end the project took almost three months, rather than the two weeks THEY had promised. They also failed to perform even simple courtesies, such laying protective material to protect my floors, and then to top it all off they left me with a structural defect in the bathroom. They put in a shower you can’t use, as the water drainage leads straight on to the floor. I asked the owner, Walter Assi, to come back and do the needed repairs and he just flat out refused. We spent about $80,000 with this company and they put us through hell, and we will never do business with them again. Be warned, Renovco will say anything to get your contract then act like they’re doing you a favour just by showing up as scheduled here and there.

Be careful with this company: RENOVCO This was what happened to us and the neighbor I called Renovco on 9 am Fri. for cleaning service of my flooded basement. They charged me service call($250) , labor, Barricade and dehumidifiers. They left at the end of the day without installing the dehumidifiers. They did not come back on Sat. and Sun, and Monday also not until I called many times , but they brought me another quote of $18,500 for demolishing work in the basement. (My neighbor they encountered the same with Renovco and they got a quote of 20,000 of basement demolishing work , as they knowing gouvernment will pay us for the cleaning cost for flood victims.) We both dismissed this company on the site for their cheating/robbing money from flooding victims. Shame at Renovco! We hired another company to continue the work but found Renovco did a bad work on the barricade/screen between the basement and upper floor, they put duck tape directly on the dry wall and floor which could damage both after removing the tape. I sent emails or called them to fix, but Renovco just ignored on requests and not answering at all.

I don’t know why cjad endorses you. I called multiples times in August 2019 for some residential and commercial work. I was told every time by the receptionist that someone will call back within a few business days and that you were very busy. After waiting around two weeks at a time, I called back to ask what was going on but the same answer, someone will call back. This happened 3 times up till October. Still haven’t gotten my work done because I haven’t found anyone else that I could trust. Being an avid listener of cjad800, I thought you would be the right people to contact.

Many excuses, highly unprofessional and very poor communication. My wife and I were basically the project manager for this job. What a mess. I regret choosing this company. Workers were removed to do other jobs. it has taken well over 5 weeks for a small bathroom reno when 2 weeks was the estimate. And it is still not done. Stay away. Lack of coordination, project management and customer service made this renovation project a nightmare to deal with. Three months have passed since they did our bathroom renovation and still they have not solved some issues due to lack of supervision and quality control on their side. It takes many emails,messages, phone calls to get evasive responses and not a serious plan of action. Haven’t been credited any airmiles as they advertise, with no answer to that either.

Absolute nightmare of a company whose reputation is falsified by media outlets. Extremely disappointed, what they advertise is not represented in their quality of workmanship and professionalism. 1) Since they have completed the project, we have seen many issues arise. The grout was not properly done on the tiles in the bathrooms (floors and showers), as it is already beginning to disintegrate. We had to hire someone else to come back and redo the caulking in the shower, because it had completely cracked within a month of being repaired. 2) In our basement flooring, the vinyl planks are starting to lift in some areas and there are gaps in many sections. 3) Without notice, the project manager took it upon himself to paint extra sections of our home without consultation. Then, all of a sudden, stopped his workers from finishing to paint a section of the wall because the project was taking too much time to complete. 4) It has been almost a month since we sent an email to the president that was never replied to with regards to fixing some of these issues. It is really unfortunate that we are not able to praise the experience we had with Renovco.

This is a great company, with all the rain we got lately our basement had flooded and had 2 inch of water, in the middle of the night these guys were our Hero's coming to get rid of all that water. They do emergency work so they are on call 24 hours so they are there when you need them, my basement is all nice and dry now thanks to Renovco! Rep from company came 2 days later.Estimate done with contract done same day .Received call from foreman next day ,work started 3 days later (delay due to weekend).Decontamination,demolition,and reconstruction of bathroom took 5 weeks.There were small,minor delays during reconstruction but all work was done efficiently, and foreman was forthcoming with all information pertaining to the bathroom.All Renovco employees treated our house like it was their own .
