On Tuesday, I picked up an item that I had ordered in December of last year. There were a few delays caused by circumstances beyond anyone's control and by now said circumstances are self-evident. These troubled times have a greater impact on the smaller independent businesses than they do on the larger big box retailers. The larger retailers can negotiate an excellent price based on volume and merchandise standards. This gives the larger retailers preferential clout with the suppliers. If you want quality, furniture that can be handed down generation to generation, something that is style-neutral and will never be "dated", something made in Canada by skilled craftsman, go to businesses such as Sterling House Interiors. I give them 5 stars based on my complete satisfaction and the many pre-covid testimonials and not based on any recent reviews by customers that don't take the covid ripple effects into account. And I would like to add that the manufacturer of the item I purchased does not have a retail outlet but has a website listing dealers. A dealer listed 20 minutes from my house, quoted a pre-tax price for the exact same item $825 over after-tax price from Sterling House. That's another reason why I will shop there again. In the end, we all make our choices and have to live with the results clout or quality. This review has been written in earnest.

I am very picky when it comes to big purchases, such as furniture. I do a lot of research to make sure I’m getting the best products for a good price. I stopped doing that since coming here. Peter and Cristina are wonderful to deal with. Very professional and take away the stress of furniture shopping and make it enjoyable. I’ve sent many family and friends to Sterling House Interiors and always get great feedback. If you’re in the market for any type of furniture, within any price range, you’d be a fool to shop elsewhere. I would also like to address the few reviews commenting about delays.. there is not a single furniture retailer that isn’t suffering from manufacture delays... including Sterling House Interiors. That said, Peter and Cristina are always transparent and straightforward with information regarding shipping/delays and they go above and beyond to accommodate.

6 years later, still enjoying our sofa. The manager, Peter, has always been great with us, with honest opinions, making our decisions much easier. Brought my in-laws to him a few years ago for another sectional-sofa, and no complaints since. Just brought my brother-in-law in last week, Peter worked with us for a few hours to find the sectional that would be their best fit. My brother-in-law just told me he received their sectional and were very happy with it, except one of the wooden legs was a bit scratched (it was a floor model). He had talked to Peter earlier and Peter would be sending someone out to repair it for him. Awesome customer service!

Cristina from Sterling House @ Mississauga Home and Design Centre has been a gem in helping us with our furniture purchases. She is one of the few Interior Designers that actually cares consistently, follows up, and is always there to give a helping hand or advice. When Sterling House doesn't carry what we are looking for, Cristina also does not hesitate to offer other company suggestions which have shown also to offer top quality home decor (example, window shades), at reasonable prices with exceptional service. Our experience with Sterling House has been exceptional!

After 20 years it was time to update some furniture - purchased a complete dinning room set and living room occasional tables. Peter and Christina were great. I was so impressed with this store that i thought i would take a moment to write a few lines.. I was in the market for a new dining room suite....i didn't want the same old imported stuff you see at all the big box stores. A friend from work recommended Sterling House...he had purchased a bedroom from there a few years ago and was very pleased. The sales team was so friendly they treated me more like a friend then a client...i found a beautiful dining room set which i was able to choose the stain and fabric, the best part is that it was made in Canada. I just received my new sofa and I’m extremely happy. This was my 2nd time purchasing from the Mississauga store and both times my experience has been excellent. I enjoyed browsing without the sales pressure yet having someone close by in case I had questions. Christina was very knowledge (she’s an interior designer) and was very patient with me. In the end I ordered a Pottery Barn looking sofa (clean lines yet timeless style) at a very reasonable price. The sofa arrived within the expected timeframe. The delivery people where good. Although it was dry outside, they removed their shoes without being asked. I’ll be sending Christina a picture of my living room as she’s offered to help complete my room by sourcing pictures for my wall. Exceptional service!! Tip - finding the perfect sofa is challenging. I would often find a style I liked, but hated the fabric/colour, or vice versa. Sterling sells Brentwood. Brentwood is a Canadian manufacture, their quality is excellent. Their website is somewhat outdated but their showroom is huge and offers a lot more modern styles than what you see on their website plus the have large selection of fabrics! I bought a custom sofa and it was definitely worth the money because the quality is amazing. The product was also ready and delivered within the quoted time frame. Our sales rep Michelle was great to work with because she was very prompt with following up on our questions regarding how many weeks we had left to wait and when we can get our delivery. Cristina was very helpful and worked within our budget to provide us with the right furniture to compliment our style. We've furnished our entire house with Sterling Interiors and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the result. Since 2013, after a horrible experience at Lazy Boy, we discovered Sterling and have since worked closely with Peter and Christina who made the process fun and easy. They went above and beyond each time and even sourced out some pieces they don't carry and helped us with a custom built TV unit. They provide great suggestions and the service is undoubtedly the best we've received. Even their delivery is great, Romeo and his team deliver each piece with care. I understand the frustration due to long delivery times for certain pieces. However, it's unfortunate to see the negative reviews due to this as it's important to note that the long delivery times and delays are through no fault of Sterling. Its the furniture manufacturers that provide it, at times inaccurately. As a result Sterling being the middle man gets the blame for passing on the info they receive. I've witnessed it myself in the store where they're given a certain lead time by the supplier only to have it changed at a later time. Our inquiries regarding order status were always addressed. Were they answered immediately or even on the same day each time - no. But that's because they're busy chasing down their suppliers and reps to try and get answers. Anyone who has experience in an industry where you're reliant on manufacturers/suppliers will understand that Peter and his team don't ignore the customer requests but actually work continuously in the background to get the info, sometimes it can take a few days. In the long term, waiting a few extra weeks for furniture that will last for years to come isn't so bad, especially when you're getting it at the BEST price possible along with the BEST service from Sterling. Bottom line - they provide the best deal, quality and service. We are definitely their customers for life and their's is the only furniture store we'll ever purchase from.

We placed our order (bed frame, chest, night stands, ) in March. We were advised that we will receive everything in May when we placed our order. We did receive the bed frame and chest in May, but the remaining night stands were received in October, which is almost 5 months delay. Every time when we call or email, we were basically advised that the night stands were further delayed. They said that they depend on the supply from USA, where USA depends on the shipping from China. The delay is due to COVID-19. The pricing and communication are good though. If you do not need something in a hurry, give them a try. God bless and stay healthy!

Sterling is great! Had the pleasure of working with Peter the last time we purchased furniture. We were looking for both some living and dining furniture and were able to find everything we wanted with Peter's help. A huge amount of time was saved and all of our new furniture is very high quality. Without question this will be our first (and probably only) stop when we renew anything in the future.

I'm not sure who to blame. I ordered five pieces of furniture from one of the brands they represent (Handstone Furniture) in November 2015. At the time I was told 8-10 weeks for delivery. In week 11, I decided to follow-up with Sterling House - they claimed it just came in. Getting in touch with Sterling House was a feat unto itself. I would leave voice messages and they wouldn't call back, I'd have to follow up again and again. Trying to reach a real person was next to impossible. It was very difficult to arrange delivery of my furniture. Finally it arrived. One piece was wrong (it was 12 inches too short). The manager Peter Gill indicated that he would put a rush on it and I should receive the new piece within 4 weeks. The next day, we noticed that one of the end tables was wobbly. According to Peter, it took a lot to convince the manufacturer that it was defective. Peter went out of his way to pick it up to return it (his associate who said they would be there between 6:00 and 6:30 called at 7:00 to let me know that she couldn't pick it up due to weather conditions - hmmmm, given she hadn't even left the store yet, I was a little skeptical about the reason). Peter again assured me that he would put a rush on it so that it would be returned when my new sofa table was delivered. Excuse upon excuse (Sterling House continually blamed Handstone Furniture) but finally my pieces arrived 18 weeks later. Coincidentally, I had to call Sterling House to follow up yet again and was told that the pieces had just arrived. Hmmmm, why do I think they just forgot to call yet again! To make matters even worse, the new end table is also warped!!! Handstone and Sterling had been paid in full on February 10th and I finally received all my furniture June 14th. Frankly, this has been the worst experience I have ever encountered. I'm not sure who to blame, so I'll blame BOTH Sterling House and Handstone Furniture. Their customer service is incredibly POOR!!! *** Update *** Peter (the manager) at Sterling House was adamant about ordering me a new table to, in his words, "giving us a chance to make it right". Based on his post (in another forum), the new table was ordered the week of August 28th, 2016. Again, based on his own words the typical turnaround time is "please allow the standard 8 week turn around time with the Mennonites". The Mennonites he is referring to are Handstone Furniture. It is now January 24th, 2017, over 20 weeks later. Kim, do you really think I am naïve??? I was NOT upset with the long delivery times. They told me 10 weeks before I could expect my furniture when I ordered it over a year ago. I was quite comfortable with that. My complaint was from week 11 on!!! Especially since it was difficult to contact them or get any type of feedback. I would have been tickled to get a response from them the next day - the problem was I didn't get a response period - I had to follow up over and over again!! You can't pin the blame for my fiasco on the suppliers/manufacturers. Sure, I'm quite confident they had some part to play but at this point, I'd say Sterling House has the lion's share of the part in this mess. I ordered furniture for this renovation from 3 different retailers who each dealt with different suppliers. One was earlier than he promised and the other was on time. Solely blaming the suppliers/manufacturers is naïve! I've purchased a lot of furniture over the years as we renovate various areas in our home and this experience is by far the worst experience I have ever had.

I live in Vancouver, BC and was looking for a particular wooden chest of drawers which I found only Sterling had in stock. Peter at Sterling assisted with the purchase of chest of drawers and arranged for it to be shipped to BC on a pallet. It was delivered to my garage by the transport company at a very reasonable rate. Item was very well packed and arrived in perfect condition thanks to Peter and his team !

Worst experience ever. I have been getting the run around for months now about a bed I order in June. I have to send multiple emails and phone multiple times and resort to threats in order to get a call back from them. My bed was supposed to be delivered last week after one delay already and now the person on live chat which is the only person I can actually speak to tells me to expect it at the beginning of October. From the beginning when I purchase my furniture from these people, I had a lot of trouble including: not returning my phone calls, not responding to my e-mails and a voice mail that was always full, as well as waiting about one hour for the manager to show up !! Their excuse was that their computer system was down! This raises another question: How could an organization that claims to do sales online have no IT support? Also, when I wanted to pay the balance I was told that one item has been cancelled without my approval. I definitely do not recommend Sterling House Interiors to any one. Please do not waste your time, money and avoid unnecessary stress, dealing with these people. You are better off elsewhere. I DO NOT recommend any one I know to shop there.

I have been shopping at Sterling House for about 7 years now, almost everything in my home is from there.Most of family and friends shop there and they all have very good things to say about Sterling House. The staff there are fantastic, they are very knowledgeable about their products. They carry a lot of the major brands and a lot Canadian made products which are very hard to find now a days, the showroom is stunning one of the best i have seen. The only reason i am writing this review is because have seen some haters on here with their reviews and I bet you that it would have to be their competitors writing those negative reviews. **Edit - Our couch got fixed! The technician arrived on time and was done within 30 mins. I would like to note that we absolutely love the couches, and the issue was not with the store itself but trying to get their technician out to do the repair (they hire a 3rd party). *** We purchased 2 leather couches and one was scraped during delivery. It took about 2 months to get their technician to come make the repair. 3 months later the repair is peeling. It's been another 2 months trying to get them the come and fix the lousy repair. Although they keep saying the technician will contact us, we still haven't heard from him. We looked at trying to get it fixed through the furniture protection plan we also purchased but it doesn't cover damage done during delivery.

We recently ordered bedroom furniture from Sterling House Interiors. Did everything over the phone - very convenient. We spoke with Peter and he helped us get what we wanted - in budget! Setting up delivery was easy - they managed to give us a 2 hour window. Delivery guys were great - they set everything up and took away all the packaging. Overall, this was a great experience and customer service was awesome.

I would give 0 or negative stars if there was an option We purchased a couch and right after couple of days saw the cracks on the leather. We sent the pictures to mr.peter who sold the couch to us, he mentioned they will pick it up and do the repair. Guess what they took about 6 months to pick up the couch after my repeated follow ups, i used to follow up like every other week. So they finally picked it up after 6 months and said will be returned in a week, story continues i called them 10 plus times and after 3 weeks they delivered it late evening after 7pm. The couch was super soiled there was blue colour coating all over and i couldn't see if the cracks were repaired or not. It took one hour for me to clean it and once i cleaned it i found the couch was exactly as it was earlier they haven't done anything but instead dropped it off in a ver very bad condition after keeping it with them for 3 weeks. I never bothered to call them back the next day as i know its of no use as they dont care their customers once the product is sold. I will never go back to this place as i am sure i will get much better products at a better price and 100 times better quality & service.

We had been searching for living room furniture for the past 6 months. Our friend mentioned that it would be preferable to order furniture prior to painting and window coverings and recommended Sterling House Interiors. On our first visit we were greeted very warmly by Peter and he went above and beyond to help and educate us on the ordering of custom made furniture! Well what an education, the following week-end we visited Super Style Furniture and were so pleased with the selection and the friendliness of the staff. We returned to Sterling House Interiors with our furniture selection but needed help with the fabric choice. We were greeted by a very warm and friendly Cristina who sorted through hundreds of fabric choices with us to arrive at some fabulous options. After some reflection at home we opted for ALL of her recommendations!! Cristina has an amazing eye for colors and patterns and was full of ideas, which we so appreciated!! We have since ordered our new sofa and chairs along with accent pillows and window coverings and couldn't be happier! Absolutely pathetic customer service. They delivered our sofa almost one month late and the attitude was casual and unapologetic. Perhaps over omitting to get the order is a norm there. Shameful.

Somehow Peter has remembered us each time we walked into the store and always helped us as soon as he became available. Don't shop here.... they are very dishonest ...they just play games with you about the delivery.... they said that they will call you and they never do...they find the excuses for everything... please go to another shop do yourself a favor.

I looked high and low to find some store that sold quality Canadian made furniture instead of the cheap imports. I am so happy I came across Sterling House. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection of furniture available and the quality of service provided. We were initially searching for sofas and found this store to have many customization options that would help with our needs ( like changing the arms and length and height of the frame). We had come back to the store after deciding to purchase a sectional instead and found the perfect one with the help of Peter, the manager. He was very friendly and informative. The sectional we purchased was a floor model but we got it at a great price and it arrived in great condition. We would definitely check them out again for future purchases.
